@mrscrocopop It depends where the hip pain is and what you're already doing for it. If it's the outer thigh/hip you're lying on, have you tried adding an extra duvet on top of your mattress? If it's more the outer thigh/hip you aren't lying on, have you tried the pillow between the legs (knee downwards)? For lower back/pelvis kind of pain, I'd try the pillow between the lower legs trick too.

mrscrocopop · 03/05/2017 09:02

Barnes & rabbity - thanks for the replies. It is the hip that I am lying on that causes the problem. It then remains very painful for some time after I turn over. I have tried lying on a rolled up duvet with little success. Maybe I need to persevere??? Pillows between my legs isn't doing much other than making me feel hot and cross! Ha ha! I have generally taken to having a couple of hours propped up in bed which is more comfortable but leads to more wee-ing and general poor sleep. 🙄
I will try a couple of rolled up duvets. Poor DP is going to end up on floor! 😂

Baby Gumbrell born this morning at 6.59am (for a couple who had their name set in stone we have yet to fully commit to it!) Daddy's over the moon, baby's just in neonatal for a bit of extra monitoring as his breathing is a little fast and he pooed during labour, but all in all we are good, if not tired!

Confratulations @Tickyboovicki hope the little one stabilises quickly and gets discharged from neonatal soon x

Ghostonthedancefloor · 03/05/2017 09:23

Congratulations ticky!!!

mrscrocopop · 03/05/2017 09:33

Already said it in FB but congratulations!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Badgerbird · 03/05/2017 09:39

Congratulations ticky!!! Smile

teainbed · 03/05/2017 09:40

Congratulations @Tickyboovicki !

Barnes79 · 03/05/2017 09:44

Congratulations Ticky

Mrscroco* My midwife said it's like having a mini pressure sore due to the increased weight etc so the only thing is to make the surface more cushioned or change position more often. I'm having similar issues but not quite as painful from the sounds of it. By the morning I'm having to change sides every 30min and then at some point the pain stops wearing off so I just get up. Will ask for more advice today - just waiting to see the midwife now

teainbed · 03/05/2017 09:48

Sympathies re the hip pain, I was similarly afflicted and ended up buying a mattress topper which pretty much fixed it for me.

I have a sore bum/coccyx area from sitting down feeding constantly! Not sure what the solution is either. Sad

BouncingBlueberry · 03/05/2017 09:54

Congratulations @Tickyboovicki. I wonder who's going to be next

1004Rise · 03/05/2017 10:31

Congratulations @Tickyboovicki sounds like you're being looked after well!

@teainbed that's not a post pregnancy symptom I had imagined being an issue Confused

I have an odd question, I think baby might have dropped a bit because I seem to be able to breathe more, but I also seem to have got out of the habit of deeper breaths so I have to concentrate more on breathing, which then makes it hard to stop concentrating because I feel like I'll forget to breathe. Does that make any sense or am I just weird? BlushConfused

Brightsmoke · 03/05/2017 10:42

Shini, I actually have my tongue tied still as an adult. I hate it! And mine isn't bad, the only thing I like about it is that I got it pierced 😂. I would push to get it snipped if I were you, tiny procedure I've heard, and much easier at this age, than when older.

Brightsmoke · 03/05/2017 10:47

Congratulations Ticky, hope all went well otherwise :)

Mrs, if you do find something that works for definite, please let me know!! I take paracetamol most nights now, the only thing I found that works is going for a few walk laps around the bedroom when it's really bad, poor DH hardly gets a wink of sleep!

Barnes79 · 03/05/2017 10:48

Mrscroc sorry - forgot to ask about hip pain at night. I was slightly distracted by my rising blood pressure which means I now have to go to triage at 12.30 for BP monitoring (and god knows what other fun tests - there was talk of swabs between my midwife and triage Confused). As if shingles wasn't enough.

Better go walk the dog as he's crying at me.

savagehk · 03/05/2017 10:53

barnes swabs seem a bit ott. If you've got shingles you've got an active virus atm anyway...?
Suppose if they're thinking GBS they may do a swab. Swabbed me in labour last time (wtf? the test takes a good while to return a result!).

EsmesBees · 03/05/2017 10:56

Congratulations ticky! Glad you are both doing well.

Presentation scan went well. Baby is the right way round! Fingers crossed for a MLU birth now. Toddler DD completely unimpressed by seeing her baby sibling on the big screen. Kept asking to read her Peppa books!

On the hip pain, I'm trying acupuncture tomorrow to help with mine. I've got rhumatoid arthritis so mine is preexisting. I find a supportive pillow under the hip and one between the legs really helps.

savagehk · 03/05/2017 11:01

Ooh good news esmes :)

EsmesBees · 03/05/2017 11:06

Hope it goes well at the hospital Barnes and the bp settles down

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 03/05/2017 12:34

Yay for the new babies! Congratulations ticky, daddy does look happy. When you've time can we have a squishy Gumbrell face picture please!! Well done shini and lampski the May Ladies are doing really well at producing gorgeous little boys Smile

barnes that sucks about shingles. Hope you're ok and they are relatively minor Flowers

tea I know, same due date and we're in totally different positions! High five bright and the 3rd May clan. Curry and other activities Blush was great last night (autumn your posts about curry and Mr Cohen really made me laugh), just got the oven on for a second serving of the hot stuff. MrsJW the spices definitely perked baby up more than anything the last couple of weeks. Mum came round this morning and we tidied the front garden up (not a euphemism). Baby feels very low (was 4/5ths engaged last week) but no twinges yet. Come on baby!!

esmes really pleased your baby is right way round

EsmesBees · 03/05/2017 12:42

Thanks dream and savage. So pleased to avoid a c section. It wasn't the operation that bothered me, but the recovery with a newborn and toddler.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 03/05/2017 13:04

And... for the insomniacs out there, if you haven't tried playing a hypnobirthing relaxation track or similar as you switch the light off to go to sleep I highly recommend it. I have still had to get up to wee but 4 of the past 5 nights since we started listening have managed to just go back to bed and sleep rather than getting up at 5/ 5.30am. Fingers crossed for you.

Greylilypad · 03/05/2017 13:46

Can you recommend a hynobirthing relaxation track Dream?
I am having dreadful insomnia!!

Badgerbird · 03/05/2017 13:49

atumn and dream you are cracking me up!!! Grin

esme good to hear baby has moved :)

1004Rise · 03/05/2017 14:09

@dreamofhungarianlanterns I second that suggestion, also useful to listen to when you wake up at 4am to help get back to sleep. Grin I've been avoiding looking at mn as I end up reading long rambling threads for hours!
