Time for another thread! What a chatty bunch.

We should get a spreadsheet set up that's an open shared document so we can all update it. I'll see what I can do but currently without a laptop!

I had my first MW appointment yesterday...lasted an hour and came away with a huge pack of information!
Became really poorly when they took blood as I have rubbish veins and had to try both arms and hands!
They arranged my dating scan and my Consultant Appointment while I was there.

Zaberwocky · 03/05/2017 06:51

New company Carley Smile I can't imagine anything worse than spending another five months where I am now.

Ah I don't know. If I stay put, I'll be miserable, but at least get SMP...

DoctorDonnaNoble · 03/05/2017 07:08

I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be consultant led this time (old, fat and had an EMCS last time). Has anyone been consultant led before? What's it like?

Oysterbabe · 03/05/2017 07:12

I will be too; old, fat, previous pre-term birth to a baby that has a congenital heart defect. I was midwife led last time so not sure what it entails, hopefully extra scans :)

leighdinglady · 03/05/2017 07:19

I will be consultant led too due to a family history of premature babies.

I know how you feel re the blood tests. My veins are so thin that last pregnancy they tried on seven different days. Arms, hands and feet! They never did get a sample large enough to test. Worrying really. Hopefully I'll never need one in an emergency!

MaryShelley1818 · 03/05/2017 07:21

Yep...Consultant appointment due to being old and fat!! Nothing going for me really! Lol

Carlotta82248 · 03/05/2017 07:22

Club fat too, and borderline old! Haha, might scrape into the midwife led BMI clinic by being under 35 by the skin of my teeth!

ScotsLamb · 03/05/2017 07:24

Midwife appointment for me is Friday. I'll be 6+5 according to my calculations. Is it wrong to hope the midwife ignores my cycle length as then I might get scan quicker? I would be 7+2 on Friday with a normal cycle.

Zaberwocky · 03/05/2017 07:29

Oh bugger Grin I'm glad you lot reminded me. My MW appointment is at lunch time.

Though I'm now very unenthusiastic at the prospect of blood tests!

Oysterbabe · 03/05/2017 07:36

I plan to lie about my long cycles, I know that's bad. I know 100% when I conceived as I did OPKs and we only actually had sex then. I'm going to say LMP was 2 weeks before the day I ovulated. That makes me 5+3 today, they'd date me at about 7+3 otherwise and I know that's wrong. Some of them quite rigidly stick by LMP not trusting people if they think they know when they conceived.
I'm having a private scan in a couple of weeks anyway so I'll be able to tell her what that dates me as.

ScotsLamb · 03/05/2017 07:58

If I leave them to stick with theirs then I'll be due 4 days before I think I am. This means I might get 12 week scan earlier!! I'm not fussed about it being wrong until after 12 week scan. I know when I ovulated anyway.

SushiNushi · 03/05/2017 08:02

Blimey Glasto, sounds like it's not just me then! Maybe they'll arrange it when I see the midwife. I don't know why it's not the same everywhere. Surely just one way of doing it would make it easier to manage across the country?!

Oysterbabe · 03/05/2017 08:04

You don't want it too early though Scots, you need to be past a certain point to get an accurate NT measurement for the downs test.

Bisquick · 03/05/2017 08:59

I'll be consultant led as well given our previous loss. Not sure what it means but have a consultant appointment in a couple of weeks to go over what it will involve in detail. Will then decide if I want to stay at the hospital with this consultant or move hospital. So far every individual I've met at Hospital1 has been so kind and thoughtful, but every appointment/scan/administrative piece has been completely messed up. Hmm

biginjapan · 03/05/2017 09:08

Wine Sad. I'm so sorry. Heartbreaking.

I'll be consultant led - old, 3 previous c-sections and ds3 born with respiratory distress syndrome.

TootsyBella84 · 03/05/2017 09:09

I was consultant led with my youngest because with my 1st she was prem and the labour was horrendous ending in forceps and 3rd degree tear.
All that was different was I had a consultant app at 34 weeks and I was on the consultant led ward when in labour.
My youngest was term and no drama labour so I'm thinking I will just be MW led again.

Ladies worrying about scans, I believe 12w scan is between 11-14 weeks so should be no problem getting booked in on time x

60percentbanana · 03/05/2017 09:49

I've just read the NHS criteria on being referred for consultant led, as I thought I might be due to age (I'm 37 next week) but it suggests that referrals for age happen over 40 so I'll escape that one. However it does suggest referral where previous babies have been over 4.5kg at term. My last baby was 10lb so just over that ☹️

Bisquick · 03/05/2017 10:28

Realised Saturday will be tricky given visitors so have brought forward early scan to this afternoon. I'm 6+4 so hoping they can see something. So so nervous!

Southy84 · 03/05/2017 10:37

Good luck today lapin

So sorry to hear your sad news wine take care of yourself x

Hope this afternoon goes well for you too bisquick at least you don't have long to wait. That's not good about all the admin errors at the hospital, are you able to check out the other hospital before you make your decision on which one you want to go to?

I think I will be referred to a consultant due to previous csection a year ago, not sure what to expect.

TootsyBella84 · 03/05/2017 10:44

Good luck ladies with scans today Flowers

LapinR0se · 03/05/2017 11:07

wine I know you said you were leaving the thread but just in case you pop in I wanted to add my well wishes to the others. Sending unmumsnetty but much-needed hugs Flowers

Brens13 · 03/05/2017 11:09

It's someone's birthday in my office today....I've already eaten two bits of chocolate cake Cake someone needs to lock the door to the kitchen to keep me away!

Mumoftheark · 03/05/2017 11:21

Just say in the waiting room for my GP appointment - wish it was a scan I was waiting for but excited that my antenatal care is starting. Feels more real now :)

LapinR0se · 03/05/2017 11:44

On train heading to the clinic now and really hoping I don't have to do all of this in French as I am sorely lacking in medical vocabulary!

MotherofUnicorns · 03/05/2017 12:02

I have my midwife appt on monday. I am going to have to phone in sick to school as i don't want anyone knowing - as soon as they know you have a hosp appt they will KNOW!
i am also going to bend the truth about my cycles oyster. I know exactly when i ovulated (day 21) and i have had my dates confirmed by early scan so i will say LMP was 10th march rather than 5th.
I wonder if i will be consultant led? I am 38 but have had 2 previous fairly straightforward deliveries.... I guess i'll find out on Monday.
Is anyone opting for a harmony test?
They offer it at my hosp if i have higher than 1 in 500 chance of downs. I would be quite keen to have it as it is a definite answer....
