Ha me neither though @newbieho ! I felt very clued up on pre-eclampsia and aspirin and diabetes and things like that but when a issue comes up at that you weren't expecting it's like starting school again. Grin

teainbed · 12/04/2017 10:43

@mightymouse76 definitely mention it to your midwife. We've all got gazillions of staph aureus on our skin and with a healthy immune system it doesn't cause any problems. I don't know how useful just having swabs would be but they can seek advice presumably from micro if they need to.

MrsJW15 · 12/04/2017 10:58

Morning all. Back in the office after two days WFH and feeling exhausted. Two weeks of work to go...

Bright I spoke to someone at a spa a couple of weeks ago and they basically said they wouldn't recommend I use any of the jacuzzi, steam etc. Jacuzzi for a few minutes might be ok.

lullaby23 · 12/04/2017 11:03

tea understood, keeping fingers crossed for you.

vanilla8 · 12/04/2017 13:25

Hi all,

Perhaps I should join the Facebook group, how much chat happens over there? Pleased to hear someone had their baby, but makes it all real!

34 weeks today and finally saw the community midwife this morning after PALs sorted it out for me. The midwife was lovely and she ridiculed the dr for measuring me wrong on my last check two weeks ago(I thought he was very rushed with the tape measure) im measuring just below the 50th centipede Grin and apparently loads of room for baby to grow!? Even though belly feels so tight!
Still got terrible rib pain, very sore to touch.

Thanks for all the tips on birth plan.

I'm going to start ordering the few remaining bits on my list - still haven't got any crib sheets, and have seen a baby changing bag that is suitable for a man to carry without embarrassment but it's about £80!

I still have 4 weeks left at work, jealous of all you guys have finished, as I have got very tired last few days.

We stayed in a hotel with spa for babymoon a few weeks ago, I ended up going in the steam room for 1-2 mins after my time in the pool - just to do some slow breathing in and help clear the lungs, was conscious not to get too hot!

Badgerbird · 12/04/2017 13:40

vanilla I just bought a neutral rucksack for DH to use as changing bag. It doesn't specifically need to be a changing bag as long as you can fit what you need in it :)

Have a fab time bright!!

MrsJW15 · 12/04/2017 14:12

Vanilla I like the look of this one as a neutral rucksack - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01HEECQQK/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_ttl?ie=UTF8&colid=1JSYS8TVRFIUI&coliid=IQAEQ1BJRUZ0I&vs=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Also really like the Herschel bags generally, but they are also quite expensive!

KLane · 12/04/2017 14:18

My DH decided he wanted his own nappy bag. It was one of the tips in his expectant father book, apparently. That way, he always knows what's in it and he thinks it might give him a bit more confidence in being prepared when going out alone with the baby. Quite sweet, but we'll see how long it lasts. It did mean that I could buy myself one that can double as my handbag Grin

vanilla8 · 12/04/2017 14:23

Thanks @Badgerbird @KLane @MrsJW15 all good ideas!

MrsJW15 · 12/04/2017 16:41

Quiet on here today! Hope lots of you are enjoying the sunshine.

My work blackberry just stopped working and I've given it back rather than replacing it. Feels like progress towards the end of work!

In less good news a friend just emailed to say that he and his wife went for a scan today, expecting to be 8 weeks pregnant, but there was no heatbeat. I feel very sad for them.

EsmesBees · 12/04/2017 17:47

Hope you are doing ok tea and are managing to relax today. Hope they can give you some more answers soon.

That's very sad news about your friends MrsJw

Congratulations on your last day newbie. A bit jealous.

Vanilla Boots used to give out a free plain black nappy bag when you joined the baby club. In case you don't want to buy something separate for DH.

Been on an Easter egg hunt with DD today. Had such fun. I can't help thinking of how different it's going to be with a newborn too. I know it's ridiculous but I'm really going to miss spending time just the two of us.

savagehk · 12/04/2017 17:49

JoJo event here with 'goody bag' - but only at some stores (see the dropdown for the options) www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/maternity-event

@MrsJW15 really sad news on your friend

@savagehk thanks for the link

newbieho · 12/04/2017 18:05

I'm on the train going back home feeling a bit sad and relieved at the same time. This is such a strange feeling to know I won't be taking that route for a while.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow scan and getting some rest before, as one of my colleagues said, "a new boss arrives".

jennymac31 · 12/04/2017 18:30

Evening ladies

I literally just ordered that changing bag on amazon, as dh was adamant I wasn't going to get a bag that was girly!

Sorry to hear of your friends loss MrsJW15.

Am knackered after a long day trying to get all of the loose ends tied up for work before I finish tomorrow. Was working from home today so decided to cook a nice meal for the family including a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding but now can't stomach any of it as I feel really sick.

teainbed · 12/04/2017 18:39

It's a funny feeling isn't it @newbieho !

That's sad news @MrsJW15

Thanks @EsmesBees couple of lows today, otherwise. I will just have to email them tomorrow and see what they say. I finished the jobs I wanted to do and got some batch cooking done. DC schoolbags and uniform ready for next week just in case! I might finish off my hospital bags tonight properly.

That's a really nice changing bag, let us know how it turns out!

coxsorangepippin · 12/04/2017 19:02

newbie I know just what you mean on the mixed feelings.

I bought a second hand longchamp 'le pliage' bag because I've always wanted one it's quite neutral (black/brown) for my DH and not heavy.

mrspage1985 · 12/04/2017 19:51

Can I be added to the Facebook group pls? I use the app for MN so can't private message, but my FB name is Laura page and profile picture is me my husband and two dogs in wedding dress etc?

Hope all are well, 8 working days left here, starting to feel very sad about leaving my dept (I am a control freak) but also looking forward to a rest before little one comes along!! Xx

RedBlu · 12/04/2017 19:54

Had midwife appointment today (34 weeks) and baby is apparently head down now.

She did read through my A&E notes and decifiered (as I couldn't read the writing) that the reason the doctors are giving for my fainting and dizziness is due to sudden drops in BP. She is concerned about me returning to work as we don't know what is causing the drops in BP, will have to see.

My SPD is really playing up at the moment, in agony with simply walking and sleeping has become painful as I have to keep switching sides...

Rustler74 · 12/04/2017 20:10

@mrspage1985 I tried to find you but couldn't. Can you add me? I'm Greet Janssens and my profile is my and my OH dolled up standing up with a drink

teainbed · 12/04/2017 20:18

I've just read a thread about post natal wards. Sad So grim! I know ideally you'd be discharged pretty quick (and I have been in the past) but I think I'll need to stay in for at least 24 hours this time. Hope you all get out swiftly!

mrspage1985 · 12/04/2017 20:19

@Rustler74 thanks - think I have just done it! If not another person has had my friend request!! X

Brightsmoke · 12/04/2017 20:31

Phew, finally caught up!

Had a lovely relaxing day at the spa, would definitely recommend pregnancy massage to anyone in 2 minds! Had a lovely soft foot massage too, which was heavenly. Spent most of the time sat on the side, but did dip in the jacuzzi and spent a couple of minutes in the aroma room.

MrsPage, sorry to hear about your friend :(
I have found it you on FB (if you have choccy labs?) but can't add you to the group without being your 'friend' on it, happy to add you and delete you after if you want?

Tea, sounds very stressful, hope you get some answers soon!

Definitely don't like the sound of potty training from the beginning, I don't think I would have the energy 😂

Hope you had a good last day Newbie, what did you treat yourself to in the end?

EsmesBees · 12/04/2017 20:31

I've heard the postnatal wards at my hospital are really grim tea. Last time it was a much more modern hospital, and I asked for a private room (just cos I thought I might as well ask) and was lucky enough to get one. One of the main reasons I'm so keen to get the MLU birth this time is to avoid the dreaded ward.

mightymouse76 · 12/04/2017 20:40

Teainbed I'm avoiding that thread! I'll def be in overnight, maybe 2...🙈
