cox hope your colleague gave you their medical qualifications when deciding to diagnose you! Honestly how cheeky to comment like that, no one's damn business how late you work.

sipper I didn't realise potential size could stop you from using MLU, presumably there are "undiagnosed" larger babies all the time as not everyone has growth scans? Hope you can read up and make the choice that is right for you, especially as you are in a hospital anyway it hardly seems an issue if you had to transfer.

raspberry hooray for baby turning.

tea what a shock, I hope your levels calm down over the next few days. Can they scan you to check the placenta before rushing to induce? What gestation would you be?

33 week check up here, baby still firmly and comfortably breech with one hand waving above her head, estimated 5lb.

Enjoy your last day @newbieho yes why not all those things Smile

yellowismyfavourite · 12/04/2017 07:39

Enjoy your last day newbie I think all of them!

mightymouse76 · 12/04/2017 07:40

Hello to all before another long work day

Teainbed am thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed everything levels out, really.

Newbie if I were you I'd include lots of nothing at all!! Enjoy!

Hi Walker, nice to have you back.

I love that we're netting in ladies from other months!! Had no idea we were more active than other groups. I just know this group is brilliant : )

All this talk of birth choices has me so confused. Makes me wonder whether I should I push back in the CS If my placenta moves by next week and he is measuring well/blood sugar levels ok? Maybe I was to hasty to agree...I'm pretty worried about the recovery. Although as the date draws closer I'm worrying about everything now I think.

Cox, uptown, esme and all the others working for longer- was alarmed at the suggestion it could be dangerous and am much reassured by all the subsequent comments, especially from those who've done it before!! I'll be working until 37 weeks at least, with due date at 38. I've felt guilty recently as I am very tired but I need to secure my mat leave and this is the only way.
I also feel excited that I'm getting things done, if you know what I mean? I'm completing some things and it feels like a weight off.
Not as much as a weight off giving birth will be!!! Smile

Also...big question on the MRSA...
DP contracted staphylococcus aureus from getting scratched on rocks on holiday 3 summers ago. Apparently the area was known to have it in the microbiology. He had it terribly on arms and legs around hair follicles and was on recurrent antibiotics (oral and skin) for about two months. I only had one boil about a month later, no treatment. We were both swabbed for MRSA upon our return but the results were negative. Every now and again we worry that the odd spot on DP might be a recurrence.
I have read that even regular SRA can be indicated in sepsis and SIDS in babies.
I'm guessing I should mention this next appointment a week today and request to get swabbed? Although hoping if I resisted it baby will have my immunity..I don't see a midwife anymore as care has transferred to consultant.
Advice appreciated as always

Have a good day everyone

Badgerbird · 12/04/2017 07:57

All of it newbie!! Enjoy Smile

Brightsmoke · 12/04/2017 07:58

Haven't caught up from yesterday morning, so apologies if I've missed something major! However, I'm off to the spa today for my birthday present from DH, and I remember someone saying the spa is like a boil in a bag for babies. Does anyone know the recommended temperatures or time to be in for? I'm planning on spending a lot with just feet dangling in tbh. Just can't wait for the pregnancy massages 😍

lucieloos · 12/04/2017 08:05

Bright, I don't think you are meant to go in the jacuzzi, steam room or sauna at all. Best just stick to the swimming pool and massages if you can. Have a lovely day.

newbieho · 12/04/2017 08:15

@Brightsmoke even dangling feet in jacuzzi made me feel too hot (however I am usually warm). Enjoy your spa day and take it easy Smile

Rustler74 · 12/04/2017 08:16

@mightymouse76 i agree we are a friendly group and very chatty! Some other threads are not nice at all!

Good luck on your last day @newbieho ! I'm a tad jealous really! I hope you treat yourself accordingly!

I have aqua antenatal class this morning with some of my NCT pals as well, In fact it was recommended by one of them. I think she's probably the one who will prove to be the glue of our circle.

OH and I went to the second part of NHS antenatal classes in our hospital last night and it was good to know more about the hospital policies on certain issues such as water birth and monitoring, epidural etc... I was also put at ease by midwife during the day and in the course that I will get a visit the day after discharge whether it's the weekend or not! Seen as I will be induced on a Friday, chances are that I'll be discharged home on Saturday and rely on that visit on a Sunday. I still hope that the induction isn't required if baby puts on a show before that?

Have a good day everyone!

teainbed · 12/04/2017 08:24

Rustler is this your first? Induction might take a bit longer than a day.

PeachIcedT · 12/04/2017 08:25

Enjoy @Brightsmoke I went to a spa twice in 2 days (special offer) a couple of weeks ago and it was bliss. The pools were fine as I think they were around 33 degrees, and I didn't move around much in there to get any hotter. I avoided the steam room, sauna (and ice room as I do not go to a spa to get cold!) but did enjoy the 'emotional showers' whilst DH sweated it out in the sauna. Hope you enjoy the massage too I savoured every moment!

Barnes79 · 12/04/2017 08:46

I had the weirdest dream - I gave birth the LO at 33W with no contractions, he just slid out when I was at home, as did the placenta and my bladder which was really a catheter. He was struggling a bit with breathing so told DH to call an ambulance but instead he insisted on driving me to the hospital which is 3 mins away, but in my dream he got lost and we ended up at a hospital 15 miles away wandering round it looking for the mat unit. My sister somehow arrived at my house before we left for the hospital (despite living an hour away) and when we were wandering round this random hospital she told me I had to put my bladder/catheter back in myself and that this was "normal". Never did find the maternity unit in my dream... Confused

And is anyone else waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep for a couple of hours? It's happened 3 nights in a row now.

teainbed · 12/04/2017 08:49

Thank you all Flowers. I agree this is a very nice group to chat to! I don't like worrying my family about pregnancy stuff and keep things from them where possible so it has been good to be able to have a natter. I woke up a bit low very early this morning Sad despite reducing my insulin last night. But we'll see how we go. I'm 37 weeks exactly today. A placenta scan wasn't mentioned, I don't know if it is something that can be 'seen' on a scan if you see what I mean.

WishIWasSleeping · 12/04/2017 09:06

Bright - think the suggestion was 37degrees... that's body temp right?! Don't hold me to it though! Hope you enjoy your spa day. x

coxsorangepippin · 12/04/2017 09:38

barnes79 yes every night for a couple of weeks now. (I also wake hourly to turn over as the hip I'm lying on starts to hurt but I drop off again).

Rustler74 · 12/04/2017 09:39

@teainbed I may be having a first sweep on Tuesday 16 apparently ! My sister gave birth 24 hours after the sweep, for all 4 kids...

lullaby23 · 12/04/2017 09:41

tea as someone mentioned up thread you can opt for placenta checks rather than an induction when overdue so believe it is possible. At least you are technically at term now Smile

newbieho · 12/04/2017 09:50

@teainbed during the scan placenta blood flow can be definitely checked over (that's what happened during my scans so far anyway).

teainbed · 12/04/2017 10:09

I know but it's not a blood flow issue it's happening at a more metabolic level so scans won't be helpful in determining whether it's failing or not.

FoxMulder · 12/04/2017 10:21

wish I've read a little bit about elimination communication but wondering if you would have to be constantly undressing them. I never noticed any signs that my DS needed the loo. Besides, it's easier to change a nappy every so often rather than take them to the loo every 10 minutes! Suppose it can't hurt to dangle them over the potty if you're doing a change anyway.

bean Our kitchen is not a relaxing place to labour. It's the room of endless chores for me! Also, we have patio doors with no blinds! I fancy having the fire on in the living room. Be even nicer in my bedroom but DS might be asleep upstairs. Wouldn't fancy having the MWs in my bedroom either. Don't particularly fancy having them in my house at all but it's got to be done.

savagehk · 12/04/2017 10:22

mighty remind me why they've indicated CS for you? If it's placenta praevia and it hasn't moved, that's the one thing that is definitely a CS. If it's moved up, worth asking them for their view, but I can see that you might need to have more monitoring in case the placenta is sort of in the way. Sounds like you have other potential complications too though?

newbieho · 12/04/2017 10:25

Apologies @teainbed I do have a tendency to give opinions on the things I have got no clue whatsoever 🙊

savagehk · 12/04/2017 10:25

fox part of the reason we prefer tops/bottoms rather than sleepsuits :D I always found sleepsuits a PITA anyway when doing nappy changes. I think if you're intending to do it seriously you get the special clothes. I'm not intending to do it that seriously although am considering the slightly different nappy you can use with it (www.thenappylady.co.uk/birth-to-potty-nappies/flaparaps-for-infant-potty-training-ec.html)

If you're vaguely considering and will have a bit of reading time there's a book called nappy free baby which is worth a skim (www.nappyfreebaby.co.uk/)

FoxMulder · 12/04/2017 10:34

Oh tea that sounds stressful. Is there no test they can do to check placenta? Hope you can relax today.

FoxMulder · 12/04/2017 10:36

savage I have heard of that nappy. And that book Grin Soooo much I need to read atm and no time to read anything!
