Thanks Bean - Cake My friend at work had the opposite... told she had a small baby, came out just over 9lbs!
I do remember DD being longer than I imagined, but no one really commented on it so I thought I imagined it!
I am (apparently) borderline for waters too, they plotted me just under the top line of that graph.
You'd think as I'm already being monitored (only every week for bp and 2 for urine) for Hypertension and PE they wouldn't be making 10lb+ comments! My inner control freak is not amused. Unlike ALL of my friends! Grin
Looking back I quite enjoyed my last labour so I just want this one to be normal and stress free so I can enjoy it as much as possible... my bumps only measuring 2cm bigger than guide so where this LA-ST has sprung from is a mystery!
Although every person I see takes pleasure in telling me how huge I look... #NoInnerVoices #DuckOff #SayItOneMoreTimeAndYoullMeetMyHormones
My mum has told me on the phone tonight that 'Noah the Lard Arse Storm Trooper' (wonder if one of those has ever been registered before?! Hmm ... *Not even close to the names we have on our massive list) must stay put until the 10/05, as she's flying here on the 9th... even though I told her not to book her flight home yet! Bloomin parents! Grin
I think this baby will have eaten me alive if it's not out by then!

mightymouse76 · 10/04/2017 21:08

Hi all!
Barnes a sandy beige colour could be lovely and warm, but neutral enough to put lots of brights in. My friend is an interior and product designer and she has some good tricks. She paints a very pale blue on the ceiling, and brings it down the wall by about a foot and half. It's much more subtle than it sounds but it makes it feel sky-like and light. Another nice thing she does is paint one wall black- again it sounds full on but it looks amazing with bright/patterned stuff in front.

Rocky also badly want a massage! Going to book one for the week before my CS when I hopefully FINALLY finish work. So badly want to hang my bump through a hole.

Moo that's great news about the hospital. I think I've been to it as an A&E admission and everyone from the paramedics to the consultants and nurses were unbelievable. I felt so well cared for. Hope you get to go to the centre.

Teaspoon that's a bummer about the sickness-I hope it subsides again. I've never really fully shaken it after the 5 months of hell at the beginning, and can't quite believe I might not feel nauseous in a few weeks?? Also have a similar work schedule to you and can barely walk now due to muscular pain down one side. Commuting brings on a mix of tears and rage! Do you find the nausea is aggravated by all the writhing around?

Rise good luck turning them- mine seems to turn every other day right now- scrabbling around! I get transverse, breech and then head down. My bump is sometimes two bumps. Only way I can keep up is to track the position of the hiccups!

Raspberry I have those purple patches under my boobs. Nice.

Nurse yes I'm the 9th of May currently : )
8.30am. Although he feels like he's trying to escape every day now Confused

coxsorangepippin · 10/04/2017 21:22

Hello everyone! This is moving faster and faster now people are on mat leave. I've got four weeks left, eek.

My resolution from the hypnobirthing course at the weekend is that when I get painful braxton-hicks, I'm going to stop thinking ow ow stoppit that hurts and start thinking yay c'mon baby one step closer! Hope to gradually change my attitude a bit Grin

mightymouse76 · 10/04/2017 21:33

Quick thought for those looking for non-maternity maternity wear- I got one of these acne studios ankle length dresses from eBay and it's soooo comfy. Can layer tops over or vests (or even mat leggings or trousers) under. Room for bump without being too clingy. I change into it after work now. Love not having to be constantly adjusting a waistband but am still covered up.

Badgerbird · 10/04/2017 21:44

Lots to catch up on, apologies if I've missed anyone/ anything big!!

Thanks for the positive words regarding age and babies teaspoon :)

cox I think it was sanity who was getting married? I've been wondering too... photos!

missmoo your baby shower sounds so lovely!! So does your birth centre!! My friends are sorting a get together for me beginning of May. Low key, they know what I like, just looking forward to getting together for a good natter and loads of cuddles Smile

mrsjw phew! Not your plug!

Hey raspberry how was the beach?? Where did you go? I love the sea.... hope legs are feeling better.

Oh blimey rise, yes get moving those hips in a clockwise rotation quick!! Still time for baby to move round though.

bright and teaspoon I know what you mean about being a bit worried about relationship changing post baby. It's mad to think it's just been us 2 for 20 years and now a little person is coming along to share our life..... how will we be? What will the dynamics be like especially as we learn our new roles (and I get used to not earning my own money Shock), will we make time for eachother etc....

nurseb sounds like you did the right thing making a complaint, downright dangerous!! Hope you're feeling a bit better about DH going away now. Have you got some nice things lined up this week to keep you occupied?

PeachIcedT · 10/04/2017 21:57

Oh absolutely @WishIWasSleeping I am going to have a big pineapple fest in the next few days (they're use by Thursday, whoops) - will ignore the serves 5 bit Grin. Hope you have luck with getting the consultant to agree with you, and if tears are necessary then so be it.

So I'm back from the waterbirth course, we both found it useful. You can enter the pool from 5cm dilated, you can bring the baby to the surface (if you want) and you can get instant - slightly cleaner - skin to skin (I had worried this wasn't allowed in case of risk of dropping baby!). Sometimes you can also deliver the placenta in the pool. There is a slight increased risk of infection and a delay in stitching up due to soggier skin but the water is supposed to relax you and encourage oxytocin above adrenaline. We also set up an inflatable pool and could get in (I didn't as i can't raise my leg high enough Blush). All in all I think I'm sold, just have to be allowed one and need one to be available now.

coxsorangepippin · 10/04/2017 21:58

Badger you're right! @sanityssake are you out there?

Autumnsweater · 10/04/2017 22:39

@1004Rise get on that ball, fingers crossed for spinning head down again!

Nurse, wish you are making me giggle with the lard arse babies Grin.

Barnes that's good that they are trying to get you in asap, don't worry too much though babies and dogs tend to be more of an issue when babies are ambulatory so you have time. PM me anytime if you need advice/support.

Rocky definitely, I AM a career woman and proud to be so - just that can also go with babies which some people don't seem to realise (I hope so anyway!).

RasperryInAMelon · 10/04/2017 23:14

Someone in the Facebook groups had their baby!! 😲

Teaspoon74 · 10/04/2017 23:24

Autumn amen!! Looking forward to time off with bubs but proud to be successful in my chosen field and to be called a career woman!! Nowt wrong with anyone's choices and cast no aspersions on SAHMs, but I know both that I haven't the patience and would miss my job.

Badger ;) Jurassic mums rock #tshirtmaterial?

Cox how's the technique working for you?!? Been trying that this eve and tbh, my cervix isn't convinced!!

Thanks Mighty! You too!! And yeah, I think the wriggling and pressure is making me vom more!

Nurse glad your consultant is nice!! Makes such a difference Smile

Rasperry ooh - who??

lullaby23 · 10/04/2017 23:47

barnes have you looked at Little Greene paints? They have certain colours marked as Edwardian so it would fit with your overall house theme.

Off to have a pre-natal appointment his morning with the paediatrician we want to use, hoping she can give me the low down on keeping baby with me in recovery after CS.

Exciting to have our (potential) first arrival 👶🏻

RasperryInAMelon · 11/04/2017 04:02

Sorry! I flew in and out earlier and then promptly fell asleep 🙈 of course 4am is just the perfect time to have a mass reply session...

@MissMooMoo your Birth Centre sounds similar to the one I'm booked in at the QE in Greenwich 👍🏻

@1004Rise it certainly worried me on Sunday when I first spotted it but it seems to have calmed down now but I'll mention it to the MW today

I too am like you, need to be on that ball lots before my 36w appointment so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@Rockyroad17 heavenly those massages hey!?... I'm going for another in a couple of weeks ☺

Thanks for the tip @nursebickypegs I'll pop to Boots later today

@Teaspoon74 you need to make sure that you're getting a seat on the commute lovely!

@jennymac31 @newbieho sounds like you both had a lovely afternoon at work ☺

@PeachIcedT sounds like the water birth session was informative - fingers crossed you get to use it now!! 🛁

@Badgerbird we ended up at Folkestone in the end - Deal was just too far for me sadly. I can't cope being in the car for too long now (god knows how I'm going to make it to Leeds in a few weeks)...

@Teaspoon74 I'm not sure of their MN username and can't work it out from the sheet, but she was due 30/04 - stupidly, seeing a picture of a lady with an actual baby makes this all feel a lot more real!

mightymouse76 · 11/04/2017 06:56

34 weeks today. Exactly 4 weeks to go. Cannot believe it.

Who had the baby!!

Badgerbird · 11/04/2017 07:06

Oh blimey I'm not on the Facebook group!!! I'm gonna have to join aren't I.... so exciting to have a baby in the group!!!!

I think reading about all the big babies led me to have a crazy dream last night that mine was born so tiny she fitted on tip of my finger and I kept losing her in my pocket whilst trecking across the jungle in South America?!?! My DH touched my tummy this morn and reassured me that she's def bigger than that ShockGrin

Rustler74 · 11/04/2017 07:30

Good morning all! Are you all enjoying your mat leave ? I can tell from the fast moving thread (although not so much in the morning anymore) that many are now enjoying time off!

@Badgerbird very welcome to join fb group too! Send me or @savagehk or @RasperryInAMelon a pm so we can add you using your fb name?
And yes Jurassic mums rock! I know @Teaspoon74 and I are but never realised you're one too? How is your latest contract (in my neck of the woods) going?

The lady who had her baby on fb hasn't been on here for ages as she said she can't remember her MN name. It really feels incredibly real now.

I woke up with OH's alarm and am wide awake but my body is absolutely not cooperating this morning. I'm seeing the community midwife today and she's apparently the one who did my very first booking appointment so I'm quite looking forward to see one I've seen before (for the first time! Shock)
Then meting my music teacher for a waffle literally and figuratively speaking! We are meeting in the Waffle House in St Albans! Then NHS antenatal course part 2 this evening in Stevenage. I think I'll take it easy this morning BrewFlowers

teainbed · 11/04/2017 07:46

Morning and congratulations to whoever has had their baby! Grin

I've got a scan today, CTG and joint obstetrician and endocrinologist clinic so it's going to be a long one! I might see if I can swing by the library beforehand it's so dull waiting around at these appointments!

Autumnsweater · 11/04/2017 07:49

I had wanted to work as close as possible to my due date but am thoroughly enjoying my time off now! Hopefully can get used to a routine of not going to work before the baby arrives I guess. I've been sleeping quite well up until now so am trying to get up fairly early still so I don't start with the crazy dreams!

Yesterday I walked the dogs (to the best of my limited pelvis's ability Hmm), then went to Buxton (only 15 mins away but a pretty spa town) to buy my sister a birthday present and go swimming. Then DH and I played a board game in the evening Grin. Today I plan to take the 10 month old dog to the local high street to practice her loose lead walking around busy areas (trying to get this as good as possible before the baby arrives!!).

yellowismyfavourite · 11/04/2017 08:12

Morning all! Love the fact we started having babies... but I shared the same EDD as that lady and now it feels very real! Congratulations to her!

I hate the crazy dreams... sometimes it takes me ages to wake up enough to realise they aren't real!!!

Going to have my hair cut today... am enjoying ML but trying to keep busy because I am not good at being bored!!!

Badgerbird · 11/04/2017 08:27

Funnily enough rustler I've been working at the road next to Waffle House today and last week! I took the kids there last week. Wasn't a good idea with a Very boisterous 15 week old Labrador puppy, 2 kids, a heavily preggo woman in hot weather when it was packed and made us sit inside Angry ha ha!!
Have fun though. Work's going well thanks, different family this week, same area, you may see me taking kids to the park! X

Good luck with the loose lead walking autumn! And your poorly pelvis :(

teainbed · 11/04/2017 08:35

Oh I totally want waffles now. Grin

BouncingBlueberry · 11/04/2017 08:37

Odd question and Mr Google ain't helping. In my mat notes it says "universal communication" with a big tick against it but I have no flipping idea what it means. Anyone shed any light?

PeachIcedT · 11/04/2017 08:38

Very exciting about the first baby!

Is anyone booked in for/ had MRSA screening? At booking in they mentioned as I work in healthcare I need one at 36 weeks but midwife didn't mention anything at my last (34 week) appointment. Do they do it during the midwife appointment?

teainbed · 11/04/2017 08:46

No never heard of that peach and I'm also in healthcare. Probably just groin and nose swabs. Are you in a high risk area or having a C-section?

PeachIcedT · 11/04/2017 08:54

Nope neither of those @teainbed , though the midwife who mentioned it at booking in I haven't seen since, but it's written in my notes that I need screening. I may need to phone the midwife to check.

savagehk · 11/04/2017 09:05

There's a spot for MRSA in my notes, but it's clearly only 'if indicated' and there's no indication of when it is done if it is 'indicated'. I have no idea what the 'universal communication' thing is either Hmm
