After hearing a couple of people complain about the lack of it, and then experiencing it myself, I thought I'd follow nomoremagnolia's suggestion and create an ante-natal thread just for us poor scared naive first-timers

Of course I'm not saying we shouldn't also be on the normal ante-natal club threads so we can learn from people with a bit more experience, but a little newbie club might be friendly and reassuring too?

So if this is your first baby and you're due Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 07, please join me!

Please?!

FCH, LOL at looking like tree trunk! I suppose that may be what I look like too - it's certainly not what you'd call a 'neat' or 'round little' bump. It depends quite a lot on what I'm wearing though.

Well done on the wrap dress. I've not been brave enough to try on any dresses yet! I did buy a mass of Next maternity stuff the other day - mostly multipacks of fairly basic vests, t-shirts, 3/4 sleeve tops, so useful but well fitted so I still feel like I look good in them. My normal T-shirts still sort of fitted, but were just getting too short, exposing a growing gap above my jeans! But I also got a nice flowy white skirt and a sun dress, since I'm going on hols to Greece next week SOOOO looking forward to a 2week break! And it'll be our last one that's just the two of us (sniff sniff ) Lucky you getting to work in India! I'd really like to visit there some time.

My 20 week scan is the Monday after I get back from hols - haven't really started getting excited about it yet because I've got the holiday to think about first, but I know I will soon

2 weeks away ...

Hope you have a brilliant time! Have sadly had to have the house painted instead of going on holiday this summer but I am sure it will feel worth it when we don't get any damp this winter to contribute to the new-baby chaos!

AnnainNZ · 12/06/2007 00:53

Hello, I haven't read throught the whole thread but I just read the title, and that's me...due November 4th (or 6th - who knows), first pg, originally from Manchester, now live in New Zealand, 19 wks and all going well so far.

Enjoy your maternity clothes shopping, the choice is very limited over here. I'm v jealous that you guys have maternity clothes in New look, Next etc, none of the chain stores do maternity stuff here, just the baby clothes shops. There are a few hideously expensive shops that specialise in maternity but I've gone for a combination of second hand and borrowed stuff, luckily my best friend has just had 2 in 15 months and has no intention of another one soon so has passed lots of stuff on to me.

thelady · 13/06/2007 23:13

Hmm. Don't be too jealous of the large choice of maternity wear. In theory, yes, in practice - not a bit of it. I'm about to go online and hunt out a few pairs of trous and some tops as no-one seems to have realised that your bust gets bigger! I've chunky thighs too (too much cycling over the years) so the current skinny fashion isn't good at all.

Ho hum.

Heard tadpole's heartbeat today for the first time (15 weeks+1) which actually made it seem more real than the scan . Not sure why that should be?

FCH · 26/06/2007 14:22

Hi - anyone else out there still? Had 20 week scan the other day - it was amazing!

What are you all up to? I have a real bump now and am getting a little bit scared about how much upheaval is coming in a few months, and how little time there seems to be to prepare - especially as we live on the south coast and have all sorts of friends and family coming for weekends (which is great but not massively conducive(sp!) to getting stuff done!).

So come on - updates people!

LucyK1978 · 27/06/2007 06:59

Glad to hear your 20 week scan was okay - I've got my 20 week fetal heartbeat scan tomorrow and am really excited, and then a 'normal' 20 week scan on Monday. Hopefully legs will be out the way this time so we can see if it's a boy or girl! Is anyone else feeling a little nervous about how quickly the weeks seem to be ticking by??!!

I've also got my second anti-body transfusion tomorrow which means another day in hospital - yuk! It's not painful, but not very comfortable and makes me feel very tired and sick. Hey ho all in a good cause if it keeps the little one safe! I had my first experience of really clear movements over the weekend and it was amazing!!!

Imawurzel · 27/06/2007 07:22

Morning all.
Can i join? I am 13+3
I am on the december thread, which could turn into january thread!!
haven't read all the posts,lots ain't there!!
I thought i was due 27th december but i had my nuchal scan on 14th june and it is now 31st december!!Not heard heartbeat yet.
I have only had nausea,no actual sickness, did have rather sore boobs, had to wear a sports bra to bed but that has all gone now.
Same as some of you, i keep thinking i have had a missed mc.Don't like to think like that really.
I have my 'bloods' on 9th march. What does that involve, i know needles (quiver) but what else do they do?

Imawurzel · 30/06/2007 09:39

Did i kill this thread?

AnnainNZ · 30/06/2007 10:46

Nooooo sure you haven't. I'ved only posted on it once but have been keeping up reading it. I keep getting distracted by reading the birth announcments, they're fascinating though some of them scare the living daylights out of me.

Imawurzel · 30/06/2007 20:48

Me too.
Don't think i'm gonna like the bit inbetween hibernating baby and holding baby .

revelyell · 09/07/2007 19:59

thought i might see if this thread is still being watched as im a latecomer! ive been addicted to the childbirth thread and didnt realise you were all gathering here..

this is my first pregnancy, so happy to see you all here as well cos the women with their third on the way seem pretty far off to me right now!

so ill add myself to the list:

revelyell, 26, due 15 November

but ill be amazed if i get that far, little one has been kicking his way out already it feels like. plus eveyrone says my bump is big for a first timer at 21 weeks..

thelady · 09/07/2007 20:09

Still here! Wearing my trous with a hair elastic to give extra inches and a bumpband for modesty...

Generally starting to frazzle about lack of preparedness, and I'm only 19 weeks along. Hohum. Standard for me - I like to have everything planned way in advance - but tricky with the lack of free time/space/money at the mo.

silkcushion · 09/07/2007 23:09

Hello all

New to Mn and just popping in to say can I join up with you lot?

I'm 31 and due on 7th November with my first baby (little girl) I do have 2 step children though aged 11 and 12 (don't live with us)

FCH · 10/07/2007 14:31

Hello new people!

Just a quick one to say that I am now experiencing lots of wiggling, and I am starting to wonder if some of my nice new maternity clothes might be a bit small by November!!

Imawurzel · 12/07/2007 07:06

Morning all.
I had my bloods done on monday and heard the heartbeat for the first time!!
Amazing.
I am now 15+3.
DH was cos he missed it, but i didn't realise they'd do that. So next time i have a m/w appt he will come along.
I am waiting for my 20wk scan date to come through now. Got my 21 wk m/w appt already booked, 20th Aug. Seems ages away.
Hope everyone is fine and well?

littleoldme · 12/07/2007 20:54

Greetings ladies. I'm due at the end of nov with my first. Had my 20 week scan today and am having a very wriggily boy.

Mrswizz · 13/07/2007 12:06

Hello everyone, can I join your thread. I'm due on Dec 2nd with my first.

Littleoldme, how lovely. I'm having my 2nd scan next week, I'll be 21 weeks by then. Can't wait. I'm sure its a boy too - based on nothing.

geekInPigtails · 13/07/2007 13:49

Hello everyone. Sorry I've not been on in a while - had a gorgeous relaxing 2 week holiday in the middle of June, and since we got back feel like I've been running so hard (metaphorically) to catch up with everything again that might as well not have gone!!! So I've been lurking to keep up with you all, but not had much time to post.

Things are pretty good in the pigtails household (apart from the general busyness) - had a scan at 21 weeks which was all fine, and baby was stamping its feet at the time! I couldn't even feel it, so I just can't work out what on earth its doing when i CAN feel it! Star jumps maybe?! We decided not to find out what flavour it is - DH is all for the traditional romantic finding it out ourselves when baby arrives, and I was in two minds so went along with him Since then (I'm now almost 24weeks) everything has been fairly uneventful really. Plenty of wriggling on baby's part, I'm feeling surprisingly energetic (maybe not completely non-pregnancy levels, but close), and almost no nausea (hurray!). Occassionally get swollen feet or feel unusually breathless, but not often.

I'm starting to feel like I really need to start getting all the baby gear already... I randomly bought a breast pump from boots the other day, and a friend has given us a car seat, but that's all I've got so far. How is everyone else doing at accumulating stuff/crap/useful baby things?

Updated the list with my new dates and some new people - still not sure everyone is on here though...

Thelady, your due date has changed, you were the same as me on another thread. I was going to suggest a competition to see who could squeeze it out first. Maybe mine will change next week on my second scan.

I've never done that before so hope it works! Relieved to see that I am about the average age on here...feeling my age and more at the moment and wishing I'd started this baby business when my body was fit enough to cope!!

All of you due in September must be getting very excited!! I've now heard the heartbeat, which was amazing, and also started to feel bump moving about (I think!!). Can't wait for 20wk scan in 2 weeks time to really put my mind at ease though, I am such a worrier..

geekInPigtails · 17/07/2007 13:56

Hey Caz, I felt mine move at 18 weeks too, it's amazing isn't it! My LO is now strong enough that DH can feel the movements too, he loves it and it's really cute watching him staring and grinning at my tummy

Imawurzel, glad your last appointment went OK, I know you were a bit worried about the bloods. I love hearing the babys heartbeat too - always have to force myself not to hold my breath though, not coz I'm worried but I want to be as quiet and still as possible!

My boss's wife had her first baby last night. All I know so far is she called him yesterday morning to say she thought the baby might be coming but she wasn't sure, then an hour later (he was still at work) she thought it was a false alarm, so he carried on working for the rest of the day. Baby turned up some time over night, and was a 6lb4 boy. It's amazing how much more emotional I am about the whole birth thing now! (well, maybe not so amazing ) I'm desperate to find out more details of how it went, but don't want to freak my boss out

Mrswizz · 17/07/2007 15:11

Lucky you geekinpigtails, my DH rarely bothers feeling my tummy. Sometimes I try to encourage him when there are some strong kicks, but I think he's bored of seeing me staring at my belly for hours waiting to watch the movements. I could do that all day.
