After hearing a couple of people complain about the lack of it, and then experiencing it myself, I thought I'd follow nomoremagnolia's suggestion and create an ante-natal thread just for us poor scared naive first-timers

Of course I'm not saying we shouldn't also be on the normal ante-natal club threads so we can learn from people with a bit more experience, but a little newbie club might be friendly and reassuring too?

So if this is your first baby and you're due Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 07, please join me!

Please?!

That sounds like an interesting thread - where about is it?

TeaDr1nker · 04/09/2007 17:47

Hello Ladies

Thought i would add my name to the list. This is also my fist baby, due end of November. Interesting website, reading some of the threads makes me realise that i am normal

ali1983 · 11/09/2007 21:05

Hi everybody - new to this website but have been mooching around it for a bit and there's lots of interesting stuff (prticularly the white company discount - score!)

RE the discussion about antenatal classes - I'm in exactly the same situation as you Revel, being in Chalk Farm so there's nothing in North London til November (I'm due the 10th). Perhaps I should have been a little more organised!! Did you join the North London NCT place? I reckon I'll just have to brave those mums coffee morning things to meet some other local mums!

ps - does anyone else feel really cut off from their glamorous, non-mum friends? I'm the first of my gilfriends to have a baby so it feels like they're all out sipping cocktails and eying up new A/W lovely clothes while I sit eating family sized fruit and nut bars looking at baby stuff on the internet like i've got OCD??!! :O

thelady · 11/09/2007 21:22

And hello to you two, too!

I went off to fetch a few reusable nappies from a freecycle contact today - and got an old silver cross pram (with carry cot) as well!

I'm also at the OCD stage of planning, now that DH has admitted that he's not going to be ready to talk about shopping for the baby until it's here.

I've combined lots and lots of mumsnet advice threads, so if anyone wants a copy of the document, let me know.

Hello!

Well, thought I should drop in and say hi...

We have now done our NCT ante-natal classes which were actually really good and certainly my hubby really benefited from meeting other expectant fathers, particularly as most of his friends have older children now so he is a bit on his own.

We also did loads of nursery things this weekend including putting the cot together, and sticking up loads of those sticker-mural things. It looks brilliant and we are just so excited about having a baby to go in there. So I suppose now all we have to do is wait for the arrival...

For new people to this thread due in November have you looked at the November ante-natal thread? It is here and a most friendly and chatty place...

Also - as this thread was for October, November and December, which is looming pretty soon has anyone actually had their baby arrive yet? Or perhaps if they have they are now too busy to post?

suey2 · 18/09/2007 10:35

i am really cross with the NCT. They banked my cheque about 2 months ago but have not sent any details. No phone number so I sent a postal enquiry a week ago with an SAE. Still nothing. Class due to start shortly

thelady · 18/09/2007 14:34

Hmm. Info for my NCT class (and request for payment of remainder after deposit) arrived just over a week ago i.e. 4 weeks before classes were due to start.

I got a phone number for the relevant branch via the main NCT website, I think.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 18/09/2007 19:18

the lady could you send me the document?

[email protected]

thanks!

suey2 · 19/09/2007 10:24

sorted! the lady from nct rang me yesterday.

thelady · 19/09/2007 12:08

Done Pecka: from my gmail account....

Mrswizz · 19/09/2007 12:59

Thelady, glad you've got a pram, must check out freecycle. Hope its a good one and that you can get it up the stairs. I am so impressed at how organised you are. Am beginning to worry that I'll have enough clothes for the wee man.

thelady · 20/09/2007 18:25

Organised, me? Well, kind-of.

I think it's more that I'm working 7-days, and when I'm not working I'm asleep. I'm really worried I'm not going to have enough time to go shopping for even the basics (nearest Boots is 12 miles away) so I'm trying to plan everything as best I can.

Lulabellx1 · 24/09/2007 12:12

Cant imagine what it's like to go over.
Have the doc's said what'll happen now or do you have to sit and wait til 'the chicken is cooked'?

Imawurzelthatlookslikeapumpkin · 29/10/2007 17:25
