After hearing a couple of people complain about the lack of it, and then experiencing it myself, I thought I'd follow nomoremagnolia's suggestion and create an ante-natal thread just for us poor scared naive first-timers

Of course I'm not saying we shouldn't also be on the normal ante-natal club threads so we can learn from people with a bit more experience, but a little newbie club might be friendly and reassuring too?

So if this is your first baby and you're due Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 07, please join me!

Please?!

Just popping in from the due in april thread to say hi and congrats to you all!! I´m due with my first in 6 weeks and imagine this thread will be a great reassurance to you all, it does seem like everyone else on here is on their 2nd/3rd etc at times..

Hope you all have lovely uneventful pregnancies.. I didn´t have morning sickness or any symptoms so I think the first tri was the worst, restricting everything you do but with no visible reason for it, IYKWIM. Anyway, take care and dare I say enjoy??

FCH · 13/03/2007 08:54

I think I might have spoken too soon about no real symptoms. I have been feeling pretty nauseous for the last couple of days and have terrible wind, which is really unusual for me. Anyone else?

Hi Folks, lovely to see so many more people here. I haven't been too bad with symptoms apart from feeling really nauseous all day. But have notice I am becoming very short tempered esp with DH I don't want to be and will have to try very hard to be nicer to him!

I have a doctors app next Wed when I will be 12 weeks and am hoping this will include a scan, haven't told anyone yet and can't wait to tell family.

Hi Polarmummy - is your appt with the GP or a midwife? If it is at your surgery it might not include a scan.

Holly29 · 13/03/2007 14:43

Scan went totally fine - it was very surreal seeing my wee one up there on the screen! My risk of Downs is v low indeed, which is great. And they are 75% sure it is a boy, but I promised that I would not hold them to it! Guess 33 isn't that old after all...

love to all x

honey2theb · 13/03/2007 14:53

Can i join too???

im 22, due 6th sep

nh101 · 13/03/2007 14:57

Hi honey, welcome!

Holly, that is amazing - I didn't realise they could guess the sex this early. Is that cos it was a nuchal fold scan? How far along are you?

I was so choked at my scan , seeing the little legs and arms wiggling about - it was waving at us!

I have another scan (just a dating one) at 14 and a half weeks (cos the first one was at 10 weeks - too early) so do you think they could give me an idea what I am having? Not that DH wants to knwo but I am hoping he'll change his mind!

honey2theb · 13/03/2007 15:11

Holly 33 is not old!! i feel too young at 22! Im 23 2 weeks after my EDD though so if this little one is late i could be 23!

Holly29 · 13/03/2007 17:26

The sonographer was not going to tell me at all, but I persuaded him and he said 75% sure it was a boy but not to hold him to it! I am only 12 weeks, so I think they should be able to tell you at 14 weeks. I think it depends a lot on the way the baby is sitting as well however. Mine was waving his legs about no end so that's maybe why they could see!

Kittiwake · 13/03/2007 18:38

Holly - I'm 33 too (well I will be next week!)I know what you mean though, in some ways I wish I was a wee bit younger! Your scan sounds so exciting can't wait for mine in a few weeks and hope the outcome is as happy as yours.

Hello to you Honey

Polar I've been a bit all over the place emotionally and I am trying really hard not take it out on my DH too. One minute I'm high as a kite the next in the depths of gloom.

Looking forward (but also a bit scared) to Monday as seeing the midwife for my booking in. At least it will be a marker that 10 weeks have gone at last

How's everyone else feeling? There have been so many ladies on my October thread that have lost their babies , I think it is making me more nervous and it certainly highlights how common MC is. Sorry didn't mean to sound so down haha see what I mean about moodswings!

PolarMummy · 13/03/2007 20:20

Hi nh101, my appointment is with a consultant Obs so I am hoping it is including a scan. I am in a really lucky position that my GP Surgery have a scan machine and when I went to see my GP first at 8 weeks they did a quick scan for me

honey2theb · 14/03/2007 08:52

Does anyone else stil have Morning sickness?? i am 15+1 and im still getting sick. grrrr. DP made me egg chips and bacon the other night and i threw it all back up and i had been really fancying it! I havent eaten greasy food for ages though, havent been able to stomach it!

I told a few family members our news last night. everyones really happy and supportive but im scared now ive spoken to soon!! oh well we'll see!

nh101 · 14/03/2007 11:18

Honey, poor you! Some people get MS all the way through PG (sorry). At 15+1 I think you can stop worrying now - your risk of miscarriage is less than 1%. I'd take those odds! Enjoy telling people - I think it is great and when people talk to you about your PG it is so exciting.

Hi Polarmummy, gosh you are lucky if you got a quick scan at the first GP appt. But did they not tell you to have a full bladder? This might not be important if they have a diff machine but with mine I had to have a full bladder.

honey2theb · 14/03/2007 11:37

noooooo i cant get it all the way through!! but i suppose it would stop me eating to much junk eh! but living on fruit and yoghurts cant be that good for me
i thought the odds were something like that but with my luck i tend to worry! I think i'll tell some of my friends now though, they must all think im so boring for not drinking with them!!
wow a scan at the gp's is fab!!

PolarMummy · 15/03/2007 22:27

Hi folks, I do feel very lucky to have been able to have a scan at the GPs and I didn't need to have a full bladder so it must be a different machine or something.

MrsMar · 16/03/2007 04:27

Hello everyone... I'm a first timer too, although I feel like a bloomin' granny at 36 (will be 37 by the time LO is born!) EEK! My excuse is I was having far too much fun to have a baby until now! hehehe!

I still get odd bouts of m/s not so much nausea but when I'm hungry my stomach will give a big heave!! Hmmm, delightful! I am absolutely shattered still, although I'm on nights at the moment, so that's gotta have something to do with it. It's bad enough trying to sleep during the day without having to go to the loo every 2 hours!

I too am utterly paranoid I've told too many people. I was convinced I'd have a missed miscarriage right up until my scan at 12 weeks, and every time I tweak a muscle or bend over and my abdomen hurts, I'm convinced I'm going to do some damage. I'm seeing the midwife on mother's day so I'll hopefully get some reassurance then that I can't do him any harm and he's still swimming around in there!

geekInPigtails · 20/03/2007 14:04

Hi ladies. Sorry I've not been on in a while - came down with a really horrible tummy bug on Wednesday night, and I'm only just getting back to normal At first on Thursday I thought it was morning sickness arriving with a bang, but after 24 hours of diarrhea (sp?) and not being able to eat or drink a single thing, I called NHS direct. They asked me loads of scary questions, but eventually said I'd probably just got a normal tummy bug, and needed to keep my fluids up as much as possible.

Since then I've been paranoid that the baby might have been affected it all - i must have been dehydrated for at least a day, and that can't be good for it! But there've been no signs of any problems so far... Just keeping my fingers well and truly crossed!

Hope you're all feeling better than me!

Hi Geek, sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well, there are some really nasty bugs going around at the moment! I am sure that everything will be ok for you, I'll keep everything crossed for you also.

geekInPigtails · 21/03/2007 17:42

Thanks PolarMummy. I've definitely been feeling a bit better today. It's just got to the stage where I can't tell any more whether the rumbling in my tummy is m/s, still recovering from the bug, or genuine hunger! Roll on the magic 12 weeks when m/s is supposed to go away again

Hey girlies!!

Sorry that some of you are feeling poorly
I am 16+2 and feeling REALLY well!!
Ate chips twice yesterday, and twice threw them back up not happy!! i'm turning into a cow, all i can stomach is fruit and veg!

I saw my midwife today to have my triple test bloods done. She doppled me and i heard babas heartbeat and he / she was kicking me!! i cant feel it yet but could hear it clear through tthe doppler!!

PolarMummy · 22/03/2007 16:47

Honey2theb, that must have been pretty cool / weird to hear you baba kicking you

I had my first proper scan yesterday everything looks good so we were very relieved to hear that. We have also started telling family so its good to share the news.

Hope everyone is keeping well

thelady · 30/03/2007 10:40

Well, today is my 31st birthday, and I got a BFP. What a pressie! I'm not the most regular, but counting back I think I'll be due some time early in Dec '07.

Thanks for setting up this thread - nice to have people you can talk to when it's your first.

PolarMummy · 30/03/2007 17:46

Hi thelady and welcome, what a fantastic birthday present and it sounds as though you could be having an early Christmas present too

Hope you are feeling OK
