I see there's a thread for early November due dates but I can't see that anyone's started one for the later dates yet. Not sure yet if this one will stick around but if it does it'll be our DC3, due around the 18th.

Someone come chat to me?!

Kimbles not at all precious, I think bedside manner actually is important in these case, and generally working with the public in sensitive medical areas.

At my 20 week scan last time with my ds2, I took ds1 with me. We didn't know the sex and so wanted to find out for ds1. Anyway the sonography asked my son what were you hoping for and he quietly said a sister. Now he had sat there good as gold quiet throughout the whole thing and she turned to him, almost gleeful in his face and said "well it's another boy" I could have burst into tears and smacked her. His face was so crestfallen because of the aggressive way she'd delivered the message, like she knew it would disappoint him. Honestly others may think overreaction, but what was supposed to be a nice moment to take him along was totally ruined by the way she said it. There was just no need at all. I'm still mad about it now almost 3 years on!!!

FluffyEwok · 09/04/2017 09:24

Can I join? First baby after 18 months try and clomid. I'm 7 weeks and due 25th November. Had an early scan yesterday and all seems well so far x

Mummyosborne1983 · 09/04/2017 09:36

Hi FluffyEwok- welcome! Congrats on your BFP and great news on a good early scan!
What lovely news after 18mths of trying!! Xx

thecrab · 09/04/2017 10:14

I'm 8+2 now and know it can be possible to hear baby on a Doppler, I tried last night and this morning with no luck :( I know it's still early days and I saw baby last week so I'm not freaking out but wondering if any of you have had any luck? Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place?

TeaAndPjs · 09/04/2017 10:47

Welcome fluffy :)

Sorry gran, no advice as o my used a Doppler at a friend's late on I'm pregnancy with DS1. Tho I don't think they're recommended till 16weeks plus but dont quote me on that as I could be wrong

Hazandduck · 09/04/2017 12:26

Hi crab I think because your little one is still so small in the first trimester it's hard to pinpoint where they are let alone their heartbeat, they have so much room to flip around and move at that size too. Don't panic, if you've seen them on a scan then you know not to panic :) x

Hazandduck · 09/04/2017 12:38

harriet Sorry just caught up on the thread and yep that has just happened to me again this time on the sofa! So annoying! I just sit down for a second and wake up 2 hours later! My legs feel dead just walking upstairs. Such a strange feeling! Hope you're feeling a bit better. I've woken up from my nap feeling sick with hunger.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful sunny weekend, I'm off to a barbie with my parents and inlaws in a min and only my mum knows! 😃

Mummyosborne1983 · 09/04/2017 12:49

I wouldn't worry about not hearing a heart beat... it's so difficult to find and the reason the mw doesn't listen to it until 16wks!!

MrsGB2225 · 09/04/2017 13:03

Welcome and congratulations fluffy, amazing news after 18 months.
Reading through the thread, it's really made me realise how common miscarriages are. Sorry to everyone that has experienced it and I hope we all have safe and healthy pregnancies (and babies!)
hazandduck I'm pretty exhausted too. Unfortunately with my 2yo there's not as much chance to relax so do it as much as you can with the first one!

Topsyloulou · 09/04/2017 13:58

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.

I'm feeling rubbish today. Had a great day yesterday, best I've felt for weeks, making it up for it today though. Currently trying lying down to see if that makes me feel any better. Although now I'm feeling guilty as I can hear DP & DS out in the garden in the sunshine & feel like I should be with them. DP is desperately trying to get some jobs done, he works away in the week so weekends are the only chance he gets & DS is 'helping' / asking daddy to play with him. Hopefully I'll be feeling better soon, still got to go food shopping for a BBQ later, don't fancy either right now.

Cake how are you feeling now?

lydiangel83 · 09/04/2017 18:32

Welcome @FluffyEwok and snap on due date!

Got a stinking cold and terrible headache so just retired to bed for a while. I've taken two paracetamol - hopefully not too bad?! My mum said don't take unless you really need it but I felt like I did!

modelcat · 09/04/2017 19:56

Welcome to anyone new and congratulations!

I've seen a couple of questions but I'm rushing so can't scroll back to find names.

The person asking about runny or stuffy nose - pregnancy rhinitis is really common and I had it all through my first pregnancy. It's SO annoying because you can't take anything except saline drops which do sfa to help! My sympathies!

The person asking about Doppler. It's probably way too early to be able to hear the hb so please don't get yourself worried if you can't. But here's a tip - go about 3 inches lower than you think it will be. Pretty much in your bits! Tip was given to me by a mate and it totally was true. But dopplers can really stress you out so I don't recommend using them if you can resist.

I hope those of you who were concerned about bleeding are having better days today. My spotting has stopped so I'm feeling much more positive today. Also I've totally popped (I showed at 8 weeks with DS) and in 2nd pregnancy I've heard you show earlier. I'm 9+2 and it's going to be hard to hide this at work tomorrow ! I look like I've eaten all the cake.

modelcat · 09/04/2017 19:57

Also stinking cold here! Hopefully not rhinitis as I may cry if I have another 7 months of it!

modelcat · 09/04/2017 20:01

I've also had a shit experience of a sonogram. First pregnancy, 7 weeks pregnant. She looks and we wait all excited.

"There's no viable pregnancy there sorry". Totally matter of fact, no sympathy.

Then "oh actually there's something in your tubes that might be ectopic. You'll have to go to hospital straight away "

It was hideous. That was the start of 2 weeks of waiting to find out if it actually was ectopic or not (there was a sac in the right place and a corpus luteum in my tube), having scans every 3 days and tests to see if hcg levels increased. They didn't and eventually the sac broke down and I miscarried.

I'll never forget how devastated I felt at that scan. My sympathies to anyone else who has had to go through that. It's awful and they should be more sensitive.

lydiangel83 · 09/04/2017 20:25

Hi @modelcat never heard of rhinitis before! Seriously felt like I had flu so took 2 paracetamol to stop my head pounding. Managed some food and still feel rubbish but a bit better.

Hope you feel better soon! X

FluffyEwok · 09/04/2017 20:35

I get a blocked and itchy nose. Apparently its a protective mechanism. Have many of you told people?

organixeveryday · 09/04/2017 20:46

I've told a fair few of my mum friends , but not partners parents or my grandparents or my alleged best friend (think I might edit her out of my life as she's just becoming irritating and cold)

FluffyEwok · 09/04/2017 20:48

I've been invited on 2 nights excuses?

stuckinny · 09/04/2017 21:01

Modelcat I was just saying this morning that it looks like I've eaten too many pies.

I've had to tell my boss due to appointment times and HR as we've just gone through a merger. I have a sonogram appointment on 3 May when we'll find out the downs risk. I think we'll tell DS and parents soon after.

Foggymist · 09/04/2017 21:09

We've told nobody, have dinner with some friends this weekend coming and think I'll just order a glass of wine and take small sips, I have an ideal excuse as to why I can't have more than one so I'll just pretend I don't like the wine after a few sips.

Now to figure out how to hide the wobble from eating to stop nausea last week Confused Nausea has stopped now so hopefully I won't feel the need to overeat so much now.

Stuckinstressville · 09/04/2017 21:18

Hi all! Thinking of you all and hope you are blooming!
Still waiting for this to work out one or or other.
Recap- first scan - unknown location, hcg 1120, hcg 48 hours later -2389 - but she said this was not the increase they wanted as it should have been a lot
More. second scan a week later due to side pain- confirmed not ectopic ( thank god) and a tiny little 4mm gest sac appeared in my uterus but should have been 6 weeks and was too small. So new scan booked for next sat 15th to confirm viablilty. The waiting is agonising!

preach beginning Also - Doppler - a dangerous tool! I know someone who thought she heard heartbeat and ignored poor Movement ... and well- what not to do as she didn't go to hospital for a check and it was sad news. The heart beat was hers. And they could have saved the baby . Count the kicks is so important in the latter stages. If you can- try to avoid them - only let professionals try! All Midwives loathe the home ones! preach over

Mummyosborne1983 · 09/04/2017 23:39

Feeling so sick I'm 7+2 today. With my first two children I had nausea and sickness in the morning whereas I get it a lot of the time but more in the afternoon... it's awful!
I cannot stand the smell of bread and I've gone off cups of tea 😆 I'm a serious nightmare... my poor husband!! Xx

AGnu · 10/04/2017 00:14

I went off tea with both previous DC & never got back into it after DS2. I get diarrhoea now if I drink any. PILs are baffled by this. It's been over 4y & still FIL makes me tea when we visit. I usually drink either fennel tea or lemon & ginger but I've gone off both now & am sipping at hot water just hoping I don't go off that too!

I've never had a bad sonographer. My favourite was when I was 36 weeks with DS2 & I had to go for a growth scan. They rang up & told me to come straight away while they were quiet. I had to take 18mo DS1 who hadn't seemed to grasp the concept of me being pregnant. He sat next to me on the bed, vaguely commenting on things around the room, until the image appeared on the screen & he pointed straight at it & just said "there's the baby". Didn't look anything like a baby to me but apparently it was DS2's face! We all just stared at DS1 with our mouths open! That sonographer was really lovely & great with DS1!

I'd like to join if I may!
Currently expecting #3 which is something of a shock as my kids are 10 and 13! Oldest son is mortified that his friends will know his parents had sex :)

Had an early scan and I'm 6+4 due 30th November.

Although this is my third I'm fretting about everything and I'm also not being very nice to my husband.

Good luck to those waiting on scans.

Any news from Novemberbaby?

TeaAndPjs · 10/04/2017 08:32

I've kinda went off tea too which is killing me as I'm a total tea Jenny! I'm still drinking it but not as much as don't enjoy it the same!

sjenner welcome! He'll come round, my siblings are 12,15 and 18 years younger than me! Was weird at 1st nut I quickly came round
