Wow amazing scan pic 10storey!! Kinda scary but amazing nonetheless!

Thanks for the heads up about the 16 week scan, my midwife had even written in the diary bit and I'd just forgotten Confused

PeachesandPie · 30/03/2017 06:32

That's the most amazing scan I've ever seen 10storey!

BumblingBee89 · 30/03/2017 08:23

Can I join back on this? I was on the other 2 threads but my name isn't on this one for some reason, and I had nothing to update so have just been lurking really!

Amazing scan photos up thread!!

I have my 12 week scan today and I'm so nervous. I've already had own at 6 weeks and 9 weeks and all was fine, but I'm just so nervous. Thankfully it's early so I don't have to wait all day (10.20)

I am glad it's finally come around though, I feel like I've been waiting for this day forever!!

Walikingdeadfan · 30/03/2017 10:04

Hi everyone, sorry I havent posted for a while.
I just got back the results from my blood tests and I have "hereditary persistant fetal haemoglobin" anyone else have this? I think it is quite rare. I've been googling and it seems that it doesnt have any affects on me but is something that could be inherited. So my partner has to have a blood test, and if he has it too then there is a risk that baby could have sickle cell anaemia or other blood condition.
I think there is small chance of anything being wrong, but will have to see. Kind of more annoyed that they made another appointment to discuss it at 11 on Monday, so need another excuse for time off work. Dont want to tell them until after scan next Friday. I love seeing all your scan pics and hope mine will be good too.

88claire · 30/03/2017 10:10

So I woke up at 5am to a complete blood bath from my nose! I've only ever had one nosebleed before in my lifetime but this was so strange as nothing triggered it and the gushing woke me up!

Anyone else have this problem? I'm really hoping it doesn't mean my blood pressure is sky high... It was 118/80 at my last appointment but has been known to be high.

And I had only just changed the bed linen.....!!

pollybythesea · 30/03/2017 10:20

hey walking have a read of this document -www.chime.ucl.ac.uk/APoGI/data/pdf/hb/carriers/b/pfh/carbook.pdf - the document is from University College London so it's a reliable source.

there are also some really easy to understand diagrams which helps to break it all down. i hope that helps. seems to be more a genetic variant (like height or eye colour) and not necessarily something worrying.

Walikingdeadfan · 30/03/2017 12:10

Thanks Polly. That is the only useful information I found too.
Chances are that everything is ok just strange that I have something like this which I didnt realise was a risk.

Rayna37 · 30/03/2017 12:20

88claire don't worry nosebleeds are normal in pregnancy, it doesn't mean your blood pressure is high. They were some of my first symptoms, before I knew I was pregnant (or knew they were a symptom of it!). It's to do with wider open blood vessels and more blood supply I think. Sympathy for the sheets though!

Trytowin · 30/03/2017 12:51

Hi Everyone been lurking a bit. Had my scan on Monday they put me ahead and have brought my edd forward to the 4th October. Not convinced though because i was using ov sticks and tracking periods so confused.com.

Just to update! Had my scan today and it was just wonderful!! Baby passed his or hers MOT as the midwife put it Grin he or she was having a bit of a nap but then when I coughed, started doing somersaults and everything!! I couldn't believe it! Feeling very happy and grateful. I'm now officially 12w4d and estimated due date is now the 8th October Smile

Wonderful new on scans and lovely pictures trytowin and bumblingbee. So pleased for you!

Those who have had dating scans are you know telling people? Any plans on how to announce?

Lovechild2016 · 30/03/2017 13:59

*now not know!

confusedat23 · 30/03/2017 14:16

Hi Ladies,

I am just popping on to say I am going to distance myself from this thread.

It is nothing to do with anyone else apart from myself, I cannot keep up with the list and updates as I am needing to focus on both my physical and mental health throughout this pregnancy. I will of course be stopping by and updating as a normal poster I just will not be running the thread.

If anyone in particular would like to take over I believe the last list was on page number 15

Thanks xxx

That's very understandable, confused. I've tried to not come on as much as I was before as my midwife said to stay away from forums!

Trytowin · 30/03/2017 15:09

Why did the midwife say to avoid forums donkey? I find them useful though i assume some are better than others!

confusedat23 · 30/03/2017 15:43

I think as you said Donkey it is not recommended by midwives as can be quite stressful... as a group we tend to wear each others emotions and there is very much an up and down feeling constantly. Which is lovely as everyone gets the support they need.

However for those suffering with Physical or Mental Health issues it is important to remember that caring starts at home and to be there for everyone else you need to be there for yourself first.

Trytowin · 30/03/2017 16:21

Of course confused happy and healthy ladies that's what we need! :-) It's a great support here so dib in whenever!

Does anyone know how do i get access to the secret Facebook group? I wanted to have my scan before signing up.

CritterPants · 30/03/2017 17:00

Hello everyone,

SO lovely to see all the cute scan pictures and hear everyone's lovely news! I can't wait until that hurdle is past. It's amazing how much they look like real little babies so quickly, when they are so small.
Yikes at nosebleed, that sounds terrifying!

Just checking in. Hoping dancing can add me to the FB group so I can join you all there.

Lizzynic · 30/03/2017 18:16

So today I learnt that we shouldn't be eating coleslaw while pregnant, I have eaten loads up to this point, am I the only one that didn't know this?

DancingUnicorn · 30/03/2017 18:42

Do you know why lizzy? Is it because of the mayonnaise? If that's the reason then most shop bought stuff must be fine?!

Lizzynic · 30/03/2017 18:52

Even the shop stuff isn't safe so they say, here's the NHS quote

When you're pregnant, you're 14 times more likely to contract the infection. In serious cases, listeriosis can affect the placenta and trigger miscarriage. Foods such as coleslaw can harbor listeria. While cooking kills the bacteria, coleslaw is usually eaten cold, increasing the risk of contamination

DancingUnicorn · 30/03/2017 19:07

Thanks, I didn't know that. But listeriosis is really rare I believe, so I wouldn't worry about what you've already eaten! :)

Lizzynic · 30/03/2017 19:09

Being pregnant is like being a small child again with the lists of can do's and cannots lol

ememem84 · 30/03/2017 19:26

OOps. I've eaten tons of coleslaw.

And mayonnaise (both shop bought and homemade - only mums homemade though)

colourmylife · 30/03/2017 19:29

Where is that NHS quote from Lizzy ? I keep reading conflicting advice and it's so confusing. I thought most shop bought ones were fine as they use pasteurised eggs in their mayo.
