10 do they still do the scan? I was a bit worried if I said I didn't want the nuchal test they wouldn't do the scan... I don't plan to have any further tests done if NT comes back high risk.

boxesoffrogs · 25/03/2017 08:49

gimble I am a short arse - 5ft3 1/2 (the 1/2 is very important!), and I am a size ten. Annoying as I had just managed to lose a few stone, but obviously now that has all gone to pot (shouldn't grumble should I?!) Like I said, it's not bump like, just looks like podge so will just wear my bikini, and to hell with everything else! Off to Cyprus for a week of lying about next to the pool and doing absolutely bugger all. Cannot wait for some sunshine! Plus will take my mind off he scan which the day after I get back...

Ooh hi em! Every time I ride I think of you and your doctor's very disturbing concern... my midwife looked as horrified as if I had just admitted to mainlining crack through my eyeballs when I told her I ride, and told me to give it up immediately Sad she said the motion can cause the cervix to weaken, especially when in the first and second trimester, and that it was better to be safe than sorry... I am going to be a rebel and carry on until the scan, and if everything is as it should be then I will have to admit defeat and give up my lovely horse. Will be such a shame as she is on loan, so unless I can convince the yard to keep her open for me for whenever I can go back to it, then it's curtains for me and her. Just when the evenings were getting light, the mud was beginning to let up, and she was getting full of the joys of spring. Huh. Strange though how so many midwives/doctors have differing advice and opinions. Oh and also, I love a cheeky new look sale, did you get maternity stuff??

boxesoffrogs · 25/03/2017 08:52

10 what did you say?? I am a rubbish liar, my work colleague had been eyeing me with suspicion when I claimed to have given up alcohol and caffeine for lent and literally demanded to know if I was pregnant. I went very red and did stupid giggles and muttered something along the lines of 'don't be so silly'. She saw straight through me. Feel sort of bad that a few people/close friends know and my mum doesn't...

PingusMistress · 25/03/2017 09:30

Boxes I was very similar to you, bloated for the first few weeks but it has gone down now and I can just get away with the hair bobble on my trousers trick. Why not just go with the bikini and brazen it out on holiday, and blame it on the pies if anyone is cheeky enough to mention it!

I've also bought some maternity jeans. It feels like tempting fate but I couldn't resist red herring jeans down from £28 to £7! And they have belt loops so I can wear them now with a belt. Super comfy.

Unicorn they still do the scan if you don't do the downs testing, as they need it to work out your due date.

88claire · 25/03/2017 09:32

Quick question.... Does anyone get spells with minimal or no symptoms at all? I'm 8+5 and the symptoms seem to be getting less and less. Should I be worried? For example woke up today and my boobs weren't sore and could brush my teeth without gagging!

I'm sure it's nothing but I lost all my symptoms before my miscarriage so I'm a bit on edge!

Thanks ladies!

ememem84 · 25/03/2017 10:12

boxes see I mentioned riding to the midwife and she said it was fine. As long as I'm careful. Or as careful as I can be. It's good for core and pelvic floor apparently. So as long as I don't push myself I'm fine.

But I'll stop when I no longer feel comfortable/my jodhpurs no longer fit...

I bought a dress and a jumper. And also went to H&M online and bought a denim shirt. I live in mine now so want to replace my staples with mat stuff.

ememem84 · 25/03/2017 10:14

88clare the other weekend I went Friday sat sun Monday with zero symptoms. Then my booby soreness and nausea came back with a vengeance on the Tuesday. Eugh.

I think touch wood my symptoms are easing now. I'm feeling good today. But that may be because I had a great sleep and the sun is a shining.

Corrinax · 25/03/2017 10:33

@88clare

Im in the sam situation after a mmc this pregnancy iv had no symptoms other than sore nipples and some days they would be less sore and i would panic and i worried so much i rushed to have a scan at 9 weeks and baby was ok, im now 11 weeks and i still only have sore nipples i did have some mild cramping everyday but that disapeared on monday so hoping everything is still ok Smile

88claire · 25/03/2017 11:03

Thanks *corrina and emenem
*
I moan when I feel like crap and worry when I don't! I just want this first trimester over. I've got a scan in less than two weeks so trying to power through til then!

I feel a bit nauseous again now but boobs still much happier. Maybe they've just got used to all the hormones!

Just been mothers day shopping. Some of those cards were hideously soppy. Ended up getting my mum a cheap £1.50 simple one as the others were vile (in my opinion!)

Strange to feel next year I might be getting a card!

blu3sky · 25/03/2017 11:12

88claire I've had that too and with 3mc previously that also had symptoms stopping I know it's panic inducing every time you start to feel ok! I've found each pregnancy has been different (this is no. 6) and I've had worse symptoms with one mc and practically no symptoms except dizziness with DS1 who is now 7. It's so random.

boxesoffrogs I'm a very similar size to you and I also look podgy. The round ligament pain as had me wearing maternity jeans or ordinary leggings for comfort more than anything. I'd wear what you fancy. I've found people are less likely to say 'cor. you've gone podgy' when putting on weight and more likely to compliment when losing weight. And people won't always think pregnancy. At 5months pregnant with DS2, DHs cousin asked if I was expecting and got a massive lecture from his wife for it 'because what if she wasn't. You're saying she's fat!' Most of it was fat of course! Grin Hope you have a great holiday in the sun!

Anyone else found they need a bigger bra this early? I don't remember it happening before. Debating on whether to spend money on nursing bras so they'll last longer or normal bras. Non-wired are just so depressing though as they never sit flush against the breastbone and as I've got a small back size I end up spending a lot on bras each time because so few places do them! Maybe I should just give up and let them go free! WinkGrin

blu3sky · 25/03/2017 11:22

bean It depends on the area. Here (eastern england) if there's an issue it's a call within 7days, if all is fine a letter in 3 wks. It's just a screening though so measurement, bloods and a quiz on risk factors. It doesn't pick up all Downs, Edwards or Pataus (the 3 that may get picked up by the nuchal measurement and bloods here). If you're high risk you get the option of more invasive tests (amnio is the one with a chance of miscarriage).

10storey I declined the screening before but did it this time as she seemed a little pushy about it and i wanted the sonographer to shut up and show me if the baby was still alive or not

hi pingu!

Lovechild2016 · 25/03/2017 13:44

boxes I was the same with the bloat which has now improved but have got a 'fullness' in the tummy now. Finding jeans uncomfortable so in leggings mostly! Luckily I wear scrubs at work which hide all manner or sins! I would wear the bikini but be prepared for mum to guess. My DH sent a pic when we were on holiday of me (just in a dress) to his sister and she guessed from that. Apparently I just looked pregnant. Found out she is 8 weeks so delighted we will have almost matching bumps!

Boobs have doubled in size so I've bought new non underwire bras already blu, bought a slightly bigger size so got some growth room! I'm usually a 30C but have bought 34C now and it's comfortable and looks ok. To be honest my boobs have never looked better if it wasn't for pain I could go braless they are so perky! Not looking forward to the inevitable sag afterwards though 😱

claire my symptoms are very much intermittent, I think it's normal. They are definitely getting better this week though too like you ememem (now 10+5). There is light at the end of the nausea tunnel!! Also had exactly the same emotions when buying Mother's Day card!!!

Can't wait for 12 week scan so can tell people. Feel like as we've waited this long might as well wait until that now although part of me feels bad for keeping it from some of my close friends. They clearly all know but have been so polite and tactful.

10storeylovesong · 25/03/2017 15:48

I'm 12 weeks now, and although not had the dating scan we've had two early scans and no symptoms that anything going wrong so I've just admitted it when people have asked. I've been honest about previous losses so I would tell them now if something happened anyway.

They still do the dating scan if you don't want the nuchal testing. She asked, I said no and she moved on. All very matter of fact and didn't even ask a reason.

I'm off out tonight with another couple for tapas. I've felt less sick the last couple of days and have managed to clean the house and mow the lawn so feeling hopeful I might be able to keep food down. However, I've just had a meltdown because literally nothing in my wardrobe fits!! I look like a whale! Only 1lb gained on the scale but I can't fasten anything. And the girl I'm out with is 8 years younger than me, size 8 and gorgeous. I'm not feeling it!!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 25/03/2017 15:49

Hi ladies, hope everyone is well x
I feel sooo sick, but im happy because i found jellybeans in my local shop, simple things please me haha x

PlzBeSticky23 · 25/03/2017 16:48

Glad to see some others are losing symptoms as well, I woke up today and have no symptoms at all, panicking here but have my Panorama scan on Wednesday so trying to keep focussed on that.

Just so worried. My anxiety is through the roof, and having been off my meds for 7 weeks now I am over the initial 'come down' but now feeling very down. Sad My GP has said she will refer me to psychiatry in my hospital early, due to my history - so fingers crossed they will accept me!

PlzBeSticky23 · 25/03/2017 16:53

Should add - I do hope you're all having far better weeks than me! x

Otter16 · 25/03/2017 17:04

I actually think this group has kept me going some days. Even if I am not the most prolific poster.
It's just so nerve wracking. My symptoms of nausea have deffo improved but that in itself freaked me out to start with. Today I had some tiny brown spotting (as I did 3 weeks ago) and cue meltdown. It has stopped now as it did last time. It's just an emotional roller coaster!
I also have a crazy sweet tooth whereas I am normally a huge savoury snack fan! 10wks tomw.
Random collection of thoughts I know.....

KitKatSplat · 25/03/2017 19:20

Boxes I was about a size 10 prior to my pregnancy and I'm at 10+5 now and my husband can see I have a bump. Boobs have grown a bit but not enough for me to have to buy more bras. I want to hold out as long as possible in case I don't need them.

For symptom worriers.... I still feel sick and tired, but it's more manageable now. Not as many peaks and troughs. Although I find my mood is still quite up and down.

I opted for the down syndrome test as my half uncle had it so I have fairly strong feelings about it.

Clare2017 · 25/03/2017 20:06

Hi ladies,

May I join you?

I'm 10 weeks today, with my first. Scared and excited all at the same time. I'll be a single parent, which is daunting but I'm thrilled to have the chance to be a mum all the same.

I've not told many people yet. Scan in a couple of weeks so I'll know more about dates then. As I'm 40, I've been told they will probably induce me at 38 weeks anyway so it's a bit of a moveable EDD at the mo.

Having read through the thread, you all seem so lovely & supportive, I thought it'd be great to join in.

Take care x

DancingUnicorn · 25/03/2017 20:07

I desperately look for a bump every morning. Still nothing. Flatter than before pregnancy due to my weight loss!

Booking in tomorrow. Feeling strangely nervous... not sure what to expect I guess (even though people have shared all their experiences!) Mainly really scared of needles, so feeling incredibly apprehensive about blood stealing!

DancingUnicorn · 25/03/2017 20:07

Hi Clare! :)

PingusMistress · 25/03/2017 21:15

Hi Clare, I'm 40 too and nobody has mentioned induction to me yet. I know they are not keen on you going over 40 weeks when you are older, but 38 weeks seems very early.

DancingUnicorn you have my sympathy, I have a big needle phobia too. Unfortunately when pregnant, as I discovered last time, they want to stick needles in you lots Confused. In a weird way it helped me get over it a bit though!

boxesoffrogs · 25/03/2017 21:19

I just looked in the mirror and there is definitely something there, my tummy looks rounder but sort of with a pointy bit in the middle?? Makes no sense I know, but best way to describe it!

dancing try not to worry! I had a blood test but was distracted by answering the eleventy billion questions at the same time so didn't even really notice! And I am really not a fan of needles/blood.

Actually, thinking back to it, my midwife (feels so odd typing that!) said that under no circumstances should you compare your pregnancy to anyone else's, she said everyone experiences it in completely different ways, and you will drive yourself crazy if you do! She also said that you should never under any circumstances Google every little ache, twinge, etc. Maybe she has a point? Dunno, but I am going to go with her wise wisdom!

SophieGiroux · 25/03/2017 22:57

Re: the bra situation - I have bought back strap extenders as have been finding they are digging in around the middle now. Got a pack of 3 from m&s but jojo and amazon also sell them. Means you can carry on using your own bras. Still wearing wired at the moment but do have some freya deco non-wired that I wore before pregnancy and they are nice looking not frumpy!

I am 39 and have not heard about early induction! Seems a bit extreme! My midwife is pushing for me to have a home birth if anything.

Clare2017 · 25/03/2017 23:50

Thanks for the hellos!

I'll query the induction suggestion at next appointment.

I keep writing all my questions down. I'll probably be there for hours!
