I'm paying for an early scan as I found out a week before my period was due so it feels like a lifetime until the 12 week scan! It's also my first so I'm anxious and nervous and don't quite believe what's going on, want to see a healthy little heartbeat on Sunday to try and relax a bit more!

Hi boxes, I had my early scan because I have a Bicornuate uterus and classed as high risk, also because I had a MC last year, xxx

I have paid for mine. 89 for a 20 min appt, viability report and pictures. Just impatient really and want to tell people and shop for bargains!

re early scans, I was on aspirin whilst ttc and am on fragmin from bfp so I had a scan at 5+1 to rule out ectopic as being on blood thinners is not clever when combined with an ectopic. I've then had a scan at 6+4 at EPU and will be having another today at EPU at 8+4 because in between having my youngest son and this pregnancy I've had 12 early losses. This is my first pregnancy following Mr Shehata's treatment plan.

We are paying for the Panorama tests next week which also includes a scan when I will be 9+4 but I think today we will be discharged from EPU and into the normal NHS system and my dating scan is booked at the local hospital and not the EPU at the bigger hospital when I'm 11+4.

Bricking it about today's scan, bleeding stopped again overnight but just so nervous.

Boxes no particular reason apart from being really curious and excited and 12 weeks is far too long to wait to see if there's anything actually in there. We paid £80 and had to travel two hours for the nearest clinic but it was worth it to know there's a heartbeat and measuring correctly.

I also booked a private one for today because I am impatient and need something to cheer me up from all this nausea - good to see why it's all worth it on a screen.
Today DS is at nursery so until scan this afternoon I'm just going to sleep! ☺️

Boxes, I had an early scan just for reassurance because I didn't quite believe the tests. All 30 I took!! I booked it for when I was 8 weeks pregnant because I wanted to make sure the heartbeat was present (if there was one) which there was. It cost me £60 but then afterwards I found another one in my area for £40 - so have a search around.

It was so worth it, she took her time explaining the shape and even let us listen to the heartbeat too

11 weeks today and still no 12 week scan appointment I'm seeing the midwife tomow for some extra bloods so will ask her what's going on!!!! I had a private scan at what I thought was 8 weeks (because of previous loses) and was actually 9 weeks so everything's come a week quicker which is great but I want my scan!!!!!

I've just come back from the doctors and been referred for physio for a pain in my bum which doctor suspects is the start of Pelvic Girdle Pain. Apparently there is a 6 week wait so I'm really glad I got into the system early.

She asked about my bowels and I said they are very active but the midwife said it was normal however the GP has asked me to do a stool sample as it has been going on so long. Urgh.

We had an early scan at a local private place a few weeks ago. It was £60 and we were in there less than 5 minutes but it was such a relief to see the bub with a heartbeat and she moved me forward a few days which is priceless

Greentrees - Have you tried ringing the hospital? I hadn't had my 12 week scan appointment and I was 11 weeks and I called them and they had my address down wrong at the hospital and sent my letter to the complete wrong house - so it might be worth calling them just in case?
I'm 12 weeks today finally! It feels like it has been so long to get to this point - scan next week finally feels slightly closer. I need to keep trying to keep myself busy

Boxes, I'm having an early scan at my epu because I've had two mmc previously and, if things aren't developing properly or there's no hb, I would rather get things sorted out earlier rather than wait for it be picked up at the dating scan. My most recent mc was only at Christmas, so my anxiety is ramping up a treat right now.

I would say that as I've had previous losses an early scan won't actually reassure me for more than a day or so, but I assume that if you haven't had any losses seeing a hb at eight weeks is quite a relief. I won't feel at ease until I've had a Harmony test and 20 week anomaly scan as I'm pretty ancient.

That happened to me too Rubert! I rang and chased, and it turned out they'd input the wrong house number on their system.

you don't get it till uv had your booking appointment round here. I had that last week so il ask the midwife tomorrow then chase myself if not!!

I had a private scan because I actually didn't have AF between coming off my pill and getting pregnant, so had no way to determine EDD, and had to find out EDD to ensure I had my booking appointment at an appropriate time.
Having Panorama test done now on 29th March also, as I'm adopted and have no medical history so have to investigate as much as possible to minimise surprises. If it will make you feel better you should have one, if not, don't. Whatever suits each person really xx

I rang and the lady was rude and I criEd (totally unlike me!) she basically said they are running behind and il here in a few weeks....I said I'm 11 now so il be 13 then if just cant make it?!! she said there's 15 people In front of you and hung up I'm tempted to book another private scan for next week then we can tell both parents as we're seeing them for mothers day?!!

Oh green I'm so sorry they were so rude. No wonder you cried!! I know services are overwhelmed at the moment, but no need to be cruel to a pregnant woman!

Greentrees That's awful!! No wonder you cried, she should not have spoken to you like that. I would maybe try and call back tomorrow and hope you get to speak to somebody nicer and you can explain that you are already 11 weeks so can't wait 3 weeks just to hear from them!

Really interesting seeing all the gender responses. We weren't sure about knowing the gender with DS1 but he was showing off at the 20wk scan and I couldn't unsee it! We wanted to know with DS2 as DS1 was desperate to have a sister and I'd had a feeling it wasn't. I was the one who told him before the sonographer as he was also showing off! It wasn't important to us as our family tends to do gender neutral stuff so we had white or yellow handmedowns for the first 6months.

DS1 is a canny child though. Last night he said "mummy you've been sick a lot haven't you? Is it because there's a baby in your tummy? Oooh! I want a sister!" Yikes. I didn't want to tell him because it was hard with the last mc and having to help him understand it (he's 7) so I fobbed him off saying I had a hospital apt next week (12 wk scan) to find out if it was a baby or a sick bug that needs medicine from a doctor to get better. He then got worried about me and I had to calm him down. I must have a 'I'm pregnant' sign on my forehead as family friends keep hinting (or outright asking!) if I'm pregnant. Feeling a bit worried though as I've stopped vomitting and yes what a crazy thing to say!!! But previous mc have all started with a drop in symptoms. We'll see I suppose.

greentrees Sounds awful. I do wonder if those receptionists have a requirement to be as grumpy as possible. I've come across some terrible hospital ones. Technically according to NHS guidelines, the dating scan is supposed to be done between 8-14wks, nuchal 11-14wks so 13wks is still within their time limit. Horrible to be the one waiting anxiously though.

Scan was good, heartbeat and measuring slightly ahead at 9 weeks (and I know for sure I'm only 8+4). Nothing to show a reason for the bleeding. Next hurdle is next Thursday for next scan and the Panorama test. Spotting started again after we got home.. fed up of it now!!

EDD is now likely to be 12/10 at the latest and might be 5/10 as said they may deliver at 38 weeks
