1004Rise I got button down nightie from
Asda.

Glad today went OK Raspberry.

Welcome nurse, sorry to hear of your problems with your work. Glad you are off now and getting rest for you and baby.

Have been dosing myself up with vit c and vit b to get over this cold.

Thanks for the tip on M&S sale Sanity

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 17:15

@SanitysSake yup, newborn stuff as been forgotten here too! I was an 8lb+ baby, DH was 10lb! He's 6ft and I'm 5ft8. Every scan we go to, baby is measuring bigger than expected. I'm not concerned at all! What nappy size have you gone for? I've literally stockpiled all size 2s!

MrsJW15 · 08/03/2017 17:27

Sanity same on the maternity bag. Plus I really can't be bothered with going to Primark... I may try and find online shopping options instead! I think key things are big pants, and some dark PJs for the hospital. Somewhere else must sell those fairly cheaply as well!

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 17:33

@MrsJW15 @SanitysSake I went in primark to get some cheap PJs and I think I died inside. It was too hot, the pjs were either silk or had some random TV show on... I lost the will to live! I've packed my bag. I've bought some disposable knickers from Boots, and bought some cheap black knickers from Tesco. I can show you a list of what I've packed so far and what I have left to get?

peasandquiet · 08/03/2017 17:42

Would buy the bare minimum of clothes in 0-3 and 3-6 you'll all get lots of gifts when baby arrives. 9-12 and 12-18 if you want to plan ahead, hardly anyone buys those as a gift people tend to prefer to get tiny things.
Sainty love that your calling the baby the giraffe, we have a long legged one too, I noticed on last scan! Next one is next week so will see if it's still so long!

beanturnipandspud · 08/03/2017 17:55

barnes I have a growth scan at 32 wks and 36 wks.
I had a 28wk growth scan with turnip.

They check measurements of baby, but they also measure the blood flow through the cord and placenta. This is to make sure that baby is getting everything it should.

The reason I have growth scans is due to bean being a small baby, born 40+4 weighing 2920g (6lb 7oz) ... which puts him below 10th centile.

I've attached his 20wk scan though .... I was expecting a big long one, and the estimated weight does go off leg length. So they had estimated him to weigh over 10lb, as my bump was measuring big.

Ooh, hot off the press ladies.

Monsoon - 50% off sale.

uk.monsoon.co.uk/uk/childrens-sale#filtersClosed=false&pageSize=12&sort=bestSeller&grid=grid&picture=model&productID=1143672529

Includes children's wear.

Gawd help me, just spanked some more money. Despite spanking a load yesterday.

Gonna have to lay everything I've got out and get OH to veto some of it... which I'm sure he'd like playing the 'Dictator' over Grin

beanturnipandspud · 08/03/2017 17:58

I also echo peas ... lots of people buy lots of baby clothes. But I would also say remember the seasons. When our babies are 6months old they will need jumpers etc.

Also for any second timers, turnip got a lot less than bean. In cards, attention, visitors and presents. And from my mum friends I believe it wasn't just us, but this can be quite normal. ☹️

Rabbitykins55 · 08/03/2017 18:07

Barnes I've measured small the last two measurements but I've not been referred for a scan as yet. I'm assuming that as the baby is transverse it's not giving accurate measurements so I'm not particularly worried as yet. Will see how things go and ask at my 31 week appointment.

Where is the chart everyone talks about? I don't seem to have one in my notes. Confused

newbieho · 08/03/2017 18:26

Sanity your comparison to deflated puppy dogs ears made me chuckle, although I may not be smiling in the next few months once looking at my boobs

PeachIcedT · 08/03/2017 18:28

Ahh after thinking about the comfort of PJs since this morning I'm now enjoying (another) lazy sofa evening.

I have no idea what size clothes I already have - that's a job for this weekend to take stock of what we have in each size so that I don't keep buying things that'll never be used.

Brightsmoke · 08/03/2017 18:37

I've got a few newborn and 0-1/0-3 items as I have visions of baby coming early. However, DH informed me a while ago that his son was 10lbs 13, and my and him were both over 9lbs, so I'm expecting a huge baby!!

Barnes79 · 08/03/2017 18:58

Rabbity - mine was an extra sheet they added at, I think, my 20w scan, but it's only just been used for the first time at my 28w appointment.

savagehk · 08/03/2017 19:03

rabbity yep, what rustler said. i think it's "personalised" based on size at the 20 week scan.

Bump measurements aren't usually taken until 28 weeks but you'll probably have one every appointment from then on in.

I'm still not quite sure how 'personalised' the thing is because despite my previous large baby (which is noted in the notes) and that I consistently measured large last time I'm still looking to be near/above the top, consistently, this time.

Adventuregame · 08/03/2017 19:04

Rise here's the link to what I've bought...

coxsorangepippin · 08/03/2017 19:30

I've bought a newborn sized babygro and baby 'bundler' (so says M&S - I would have called it a gown) which I figure would do for a long baby. Otherwise all hand me downs so far which is fab Smile

yellowismyfavourite · 08/03/2017 19:31

barnes I had exactly the same a few weeks ago. Worried like mad about it when was told I needed a growth scan. Scan put baby exactly on 50th centile and by last week's appointment they were worrying about me being too big! Hope your scan goes well.

raspberry glad it went well today
Welcome nurse sorry you're having such a difficult time. Hope interviews go well

Tesco do some button night shirts... but then I was thinking I might wear one of DHs old work shirts instead then it smells of both of us

Babys been behaving really strange at night this week... before it's always moved whenever I move such as rolling over. Last 2 nights it's only moved when I get up for the toilet and have a drink although daytime it's still moving. Called into triage this morning and they weren't worried although they did say it was strange and that I would just need to keep getting up to check babys movements. Maybe baby is just being lazy! Anyone else have this?

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 19:46

@yellowismyfavourite I was told by my midwife that baby should have a routine now with movement and if that changes, call her. Bub here wiggles most of the night, esp when he can hear DH voice and with the occasional wiggle if I'm sitting down in the day. Have you got a count the kicks app?

Just had a nap (whoops) and woke up to find my tabby poking my tummy. Anyone else's cats obsessed with the baby? Sometimes Bub kicks back, which scares my cats away!

Evening. Busy in here!

Raspberry glad you've got through today. Flowers

Nurse welcome and also sorry to hear about your troubles at work. Do you work for the NHS or a charity? Sounds a terrible attitude from them.

Will be fascinating to see how much these babies actually end up weighing!

Also need a nightie to give birth in but got breast feeding camis and PJ bottoms for after.

Ordered a cot today. My parents wanted to buy something. I know it will get used eventually but it's not getting built yet. Just need a buggy!

newbieho · 08/03/2017 20:11

Nurse any excuse is good enough to post cats photo. My furballs are following me everywhere

Rabbitykins55 · 08/03/2017 20:13

Thanks ladies. I'll see what happens at my 31 week appointment.

ClaireSunflower · 08/03/2017 20:16

My cat likes to lie against my bump too. She looked quite alarmed when she got kicked the other day though! Poor thing is going to be in for a shock when the baby arrives!

EsmesBees · 08/03/2017 20:17

Rabbity mine was in my notes from the start. Apparently it takes dd's birth weight in to account, but can't be that personalised if they generate it before the scans.

It was dd's second birthday so we had a lovely, if exhausting, family day out. We went to the zoo and all the time she was running riot I kept thinking was 'how on Earth and I going to do this when there is two of them'. It really is amazing how much they change and grow in just two years. Enjoy the baby years ladies, they just fly by.

EsmesBees · 08/03/2017 20:19

I thought my cats would be freaked out by a newborn and leave home, but it wasn't like that at all. I have a photo from 5am on the morning we got home from hospital when I'm feeding DD with my tabby cat curled up on my knee.

jennymac31 · 08/03/2017 20:29

Evening ladies

This thread is moving on thick and fast.

Badgerbird - how was the NHS pregnancy relaxation session?

Barnes - I was told early on in my pregnancy that I would have growth scans from 28 weeks, as my dd was born 5lbs 3oz despite being a day overdue. I had a scan at 28 weeks and will have further scans at 32 & 36 weeks but am just gonna see what happens when baby arrives. Pretty sure baby will be bigger than dd as bump is much larger but we shall see.
