Yeah, hadn't spotted she'd also written 25! I think you'll be going back for another measurement if that is the case. Hopefully it's like my appt yesterday where the first (admittedly) student mw measured me at 28/9 but it should have been 31 (and was when the other mw remeasured me, and I was lying flat on my back rather than sort-of-reclining)

SanitysSake · 08/03/2017 12:18

MrsJW15 - It was very good in-store. It's good online, too. I just found that certain bits that were in the store weren't necessarily on line and vice versa. Guess it depends on what you're after, but I needed all the baby-gro's in sight plus i felt that some of the baby 'outfits' had a good range of ages in-store, so it allowed me to 'future proof' the bubba's growth?

Plus I like picking things up and feeling them and envisaging and all that good stuff. I find I miss that when online shopping. When I did come to go to the store(s), I felt some things that looked a bit 'boring' online, were actually really well made and very cute up close and personal.

Horses for courses, I guess!

SanitysSake · 08/03/2017 12:20

and thank you newbieho. I hope it's a good day... I may even have to to have a few glasses of champers to calm my nerves! I feel more nervous about this than having the baby!

lullaby23 · 08/03/2017 14:15

Nice to hear your work day count downs! Making it all feel quite real.

Had my 28 week appointment today, passed GTT but only just! Baby estimated at 1.4kg already 🙈 and has gone from breech to oblique (I guessed transverse as I could feel movement on each side of bump) I hadn't heard of oblique before had to google!

DH has a few days off work we were hoping to go away but didn't book anything in the end, so planning a trip to the zoo tomorrow which I hope DS will enjoy.

Welcome nurse - I'm a palliative care nurse too but in hospital. I've obviously been lucky - the team I'm in are really supportive (although my line manager couldn't seem to care less about me!).

I hope you do well in your interviews and land a dream job!

Sanity I didn't see much online when I looked

It looks like I should finish work at a relatively reasonable time tonight, so considering a trip to Primark for the hospital bag stuff. I'm still trying to get my head around exactly how much of what size I need for the baby. But I could detour into M&S as well!

RasperryInAMelon · 08/03/2017 15:18

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Was a tough morning - DH did so well with his eulogy, so early breaking seeing him so upset.

Good lucky with your GTT mighty!

Peach* pjs sounds good! But by the time we get home it'll be time to go back out to our antenatal class!

Newbie I totally know where you're coming from. My mind is off of work now and in an odd way off of the baby, I think I just need some time to relax. Mentally and physically I'm just shattered...

Nurse what do you mean work wouldn't honour your appointments? They have to allow you time if you need it for anything antenatal related. Your employer from 16 weeks has to make alterations to your employment to support your pregnancy and if they can't then they have to pay you to be at home.

Sanity annoyingly my bras are fine cup size wise, it's the back that's too small 😩 but I nipped into Primark today and got some back extenders which should keep me going for a while hopefully!

1004Rise · 08/03/2017 15:43

Is it me or is it really difficult to find button down nighties or pjs? My nearest primark is a pain to to get to and I can't find anything online... anyone have any other ideas?

MrsJW if it helps we bought a set from mothercare that is 0-1 month which includes a short sleeve vest, a long sleeve vest, a sleep suit and a little jacket and hat. I thought we'd take that to hospital. Then 5 short sleeve vests, 5 long sleeve vests, 3 full sleep suits all in 0 - 3 months. Complete guess work or our behalf based on the fact that DH was 7lb 8, and I was 8lb 12 when born... can't see me having a small baby Blush and following the one on, one in the wash and one in the drawer plus a couple of spares rule. The only thing we didn't buy was a warmer padded suit as I'm not sure baby would need it in May and there's always blankets....

savagehk · 08/03/2017 15:55

1004 M&S? www.marksandspencer.com/maternity-button-through-short-nightdress/p/p60092483?image=SD_02_T37_3699M_T4_X_EC_90&color=GREYMIX&prevPage=plp

I think I'll just be using 2-part PJs provided they still button up over my bump.

MrsJW15 · 08/03/2017 16:01

Thanks Rise that's helpful! I anticipate this being a big baby, as DH is really tall and my bump is really big. So tiny baby seems unnecessary! I'm sure lots of people will buy us stuff too. Think we might be doing a big Mothercare order this week.

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 16:39

Sipperskipper thank you! Management have been my problem, the band 5s were great (well with the exception of one)! I do love my job but I need something else. I've applied for something close to my mums; childcare here is £500 a month, and mum is offering to do it for free. No brainer!

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 16:40

Raspberryinamelon I was told due to staffing, I had to switch shifts and then they wouldn't reply to my emails. I had to get unison involved, and occupational health stay for me to stay at home as me being stressed made baby barely move. Such a frustrating time.

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 16:42

I have my GTT on Friday, can't say I'm looking forward to sitting in the clinic for 3 hours! I'm downloading crime podcasts as I type.

Barnes79 · 08/03/2017 16:43

So I went back to the midwife. Remeasured at 25cm (so the same and waaaaay below the 10th centile) so being referred for a growth scan.

Anyone else had one this early (28weeks)?

I was a small baby (6lb) and I know he likes to sit or bounce on my bladder so he may just be hiding in my pelvis like he did at my 20w scan

RasperryInAMelon · 08/03/2017 16:44

Nurse how far are you now?

I have a lady who works for me who is 24 weeks and is a receptionist who's on her feet all day. At 16 weeks we revised her hours so that she was on a set shift pattern of her choice. However as time has gone on she can no longer be on her feet all day and we don't have an appropriate position for her to work in where she can sit down all day. As we cannot accommodate this, she is off of work now but on full pay.

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 16:50

@RasperryInAMelon I'm 29 weeks. No risk assessment was ever put in place. In January I was off as I fainted and midwife told me to rest. I asked for less "heavy" caseload, so rather than my usual 14 patients, may I have 10. Manager told me that this was unreasonable, as I'll put pressure on others. So I plodded on, kept asking for the assessment... then found out baby has a heart condition and when I emailed about appointments and the assessments, I was ignored. I have proof of it all too.

Consultant signed me off in the end. Sad I think with the right support I could have plodded on.

savagehk · 08/03/2017 16:54

barnes good luck for the scan. I suspect that this particular one won't tell you anything useful on its own but will be used as a base for future scans to check baby is still growing, even if it's small. As you were small IMO likely your baby will be too - or they'll measure you and find baby is normal, but positioned so your bump is small.

SanitysSake · 08/03/2017 17:01

MrsJW15 - I have gone for three of 0-3 months, three of 3-6 months and three of 6-9 months and three of 9-12! Outside of having about 14 baby-gro’s/sleep suits for each age stage, that’s three outfits and a few extra bibs and socks and cardigans.

I, too, have no idea what I’m doing re; clothes. Just hoping that my attempts at forward planning save us some cash and time really!

As for the maternity bag… I have so got to get on that. Im procrastinating on that point because to me this part seems like aggro. I just feel like standing there with my arms in the air proclaiming ‘oh I don’t know?!?!’

RasperryInAMelon - Glad it went as well as can be expected x
As for the bras.. lucky you on the cup size. Mine appear to be transforming into melons in front of my eyes. God only knows what breed of deflated puppy dogs ears they’re going to turn into after the event!

nursebickypegs - Free childcare?! Huzzah!!!

Barnes79 - oh lovey. I reckon yours is hiding away. Nice and warm in there, innit? Why rear your head above the parapet, if you’re all warm and protected down low? All fingers and toes crossed it will be fine x

As for me today? I have found miniature chocolate coconut bars from Lidl. God help me, I'm eating them like the cookie monster - and I don't have a sweet tooth - NORMALLY!!

RasperryInAMelon · 08/03/2017 17:04

Nurse that sounds horrendous.

You should have had a risk assessment - we do ours at 12, 16 and 24 weeks as standard but can do more frequently and add extras in depending on each mum to be.

Have you spoken to your HR Team?

You can only be forced to start Mat Leave early if you are sick within the last 4 weeks of your pregnancy.

Are you being paid full CSP while you're off?

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 17:05

@SanitysSake I'm so confused about clothes too. I seem to have about 10-15 babygrows for each size; DH and I are stocky, tall people and this baby isn't going to be tiny... so I've bought a few of 0-3, a lot of 3-6 & 6-9. I have outfits too, mainly in 3-6s.

SanitysSake · 08/03/2017 17:10

nursebickypegs I hear that. We were told at the scan ours was a giraffe with very long limbs. Apparently the weight was 'normal', but the height was allegedly above the 95th percentile. Whatever that bloomin means with regards to national averages?

Consequently, I have completely foregone buying anything 'newborn'. I can't imagine that the giraffe will fit in it and even if it does, the feet will need to be chopped off the legs in a matter of moments!

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 17:13

@RasperryInAMelon I had an informal one at 12 weeks, never saw the paperwork despite asking for it every week. Went off sick at 24 weeks and being paid full pay, thank goodness. So I worked 12 weeks with no risk assessment in place. One day I got sent to a patient with swine flu; I'm asthmatic and pregnant so I refused. Manager said I had no choice, I was letting the team down. I ended up wearing a mask to see the patient and did no hands on treatment. I know, aren't I ridiculous... but I didn't want to risk anything.

My manager told me she could send me off sick at any time if I had another bout of sickness (I had 2 days off in January). HR and occupational health got into contact with her as I was struggling with shifts; over Christmas between December 10 to December 27, I had 3 days off and not together! By the time I finished I was so poorly and tired, I didn't get out of bed for 2 days. I think what hurt was the last few emails I sent saying that I was so upset over my baby's heart condition and I needed to attend an appointment next week to meet a cardiologist. I emailed twice in a week, no reply. The last email was literally me begging saying I need to meet this heart doctor... no reply.

Oh well, onwards and upwards.
