@teainbed we should have a sweepstake! I work for the NHS, and I have no clue why it's been so hard. I'm pleased to get out, I only applied for this role as it was close to my house.

nursebickypegs · 08/03/2017 20:45

@ClaireSunflower @newbieho bless your lovely cats! My other fur baby who is my eldest isn't too interested in me at the moment and normally she's always by my side. FurBaby2 in the picture is obsessed with me and is always climbing on me, esp while I sleep. I've had to throw her off me several times as in the middle of the night I have the bump, DH trying to sleep close to me and then her trying to get on the bump. ARGHHH!

MrsJW15 · 08/03/2017 20:51

Rabbity I don't think I have a chart either! They just record the measurements. I don't think the bump measurements are meant to be the best way of doing things anyway. But, if I'm still measuring large Haat my appointment on Monday I'm going to push for growth scans. I'm worried about being very big.

So uncomfortable still. Had a long bath when I got home and put my pjs on, but I'm still achy and getting twinges. I hope this doesn't last!

SanitysSake · 08/03/2017 20:56

LOVING the cat pictures! And the bumps in view!

Mine got walloped through the tummy. He looks at me - and my bump with disdain now...!

Situation normal, I guess! Grin

BouncingBlueberry · 08/03/2017 21:05

I wish my fur baby would come near me. Since I fell pregnant he's avoided me. He came for a one off cuddle the other day and got kicked by bump and hasn't been back for a cuddle since

beanturnipandspud · 08/03/2017 21:07

Ladies, been to a year 2 SATS meeting yesterday for Bean. Are there any teachers on here or mums of year 2's?

I need to understand the 'why' of the SATS, is it just a way to grade schools? Or do they impact our children? I'm only worried because these assessments are in May ... and of course this is when Spud is due. I don't want Bean feeling lots of pressure both at home and at school so want to feel a prepared.

For you first timers, the worry never stops! Spend all pregnancy worrying about all the little pains and things and then that worry changes to whether your feeding them enough and now I'm worrying about my 6 years olds 'exams' and my nearly 4 year olds school admissions! 😩🙈

beanturnipandspud · 08/03/2017 21:09

To join in with the cat discussions, we don't have cats but have dogs. Both of which are in season right now, so lots of washing of bedding and the youngest wanting lots of attention 🙈

I'm wondering what they're going to be like when I am labouring at home.

newbieho · 08/03/2017 21:11

Claire your cat is beautiful Star

Jugoo28 · 08/03/2017 21:18

Hi everyone, haven't been on here in a while!

Had my 28 week appointment yesterday and have been told that the baby is measuring for 32 weeks which means she's grown eight weeks worth in four weeks. I'm being referred to the hospital to see a consultant and have a growth scan at 32 weeks. If she's still measuring four weeks over at the 32 week scan then we are probably looking at an early induction (potentially even at 36 weeks).

I passed my GTT and don't have gestational diabetes, apparently I am just growing a giant!

growcookeat · 08/03/2017 21:38

Bean - generally SATs are for external agencies to rank the school. Most teachers and schools I know don't like them and all the jumping through hoops they cause.

At our school the SATs are downplayed to the children, they don't really know they are doing tests as they are integrated into the curriculum. They are pretty useless for teachers as a way of assessing children's progress - I correctly predicted the result of 95% of children in my Y2 class last year before they sat the tests - but they give a benchmark for schools and Ofsted etc to measure against.

The testing period for Y2 is the whole of May so most schools spread the assessments out over a week or two or longer. I would hope your dc don't feel pressured at all by the school but I know the approach does vary from place to place. Did they give you an indication at the meeting of their approach to testing?

beanturnipandspud · 08/03/2017 21:46

grow thank you so much. Your reply has made me feel much better already!

The meeting was more about what we as parents could do to help our children in meeting expectations. They went through how school have taught fractions and mental arithmetic so we are teaching the same at home. Told us some books to buy that they need to be able to read, how to hide a lion, a squish and a squash and something to do with crayons.

I don't really want to do anything extra at home as his life is changing lots already, we already do reading every night and spellings and some maths. He is on level 11, lime oxford reading tree & reads David Walliams books too. He can tell the time on an analogue clock and can do his 2,5 & 10 times tables. I think this is ok for a young year 2 ... he's not 7 until August!

This made me smile ladies, there's some lovely ideas so I thought I'd share. x
Hope it works!

growcookeat very useful info indeed. Thank you for sharing. Although I don't have this worry 'right now'; the only 'exposure' to the 'insanity' has come through my sibling who has three children. They are also a teacher. Primary level.
The first of their children passed their 11+ (is it still even called that?!). As a consequence, the second child has been fundamentally bullied, cajoled and basically bribed to ensure they do the same.

These SAT thingamebobs have been bashed over their head so badly, I feel terribly sorry for them.

Is education really about this?

coxsorangepippin · 08/03/2017 22:05

esme that's reassuring about your cat - ours is oblivious to the bump and I'm worrying will be freaked out by baby

Barnes I measured 25cm at my 28 week appt which was way below the 10th centile. Had my growth scan last week and baby is measuring bang on the 50th centile. They think the measurement was probably thrown off because the baby was transverse (now breach)

Rustler74 · 08/03/2017 22:41

I'm such a cat person! Living all your photos.
I'm in bed after a long day at work, then pub dinner and AbbaMania to celebrate a colleague retirement.
Zonked zzzzzz

newbie snap! Such similar markings and pose

nursebickypegs · 09/03/2017 00:10

I'm convinced that Furbaby1 will hate the baby, purely as she hates noise and any other person other than me. When I've had friends over she hisses at them when they sit next to me! I blame it on her being a black, moody goth cat.

Furbaby2 is obsessed with the bump, but I think she sees it as something else to attack. I'm worried about baby and her and she likes to sit on things. I'm so worried I'll find her in the crib.

Sanity love your cat's pose 😻 the level of disdain looks appropriate enough!

Nurse maybe you can speak to your vet and ask for advice? Or try pet remedy or feliway?

Have a good day everyone. Commute day today which means an early start. Hopefully southeastern and southern will be gracious enough for me to arrive to work on time.

EsmesBees · 09/03/2017 06:16

nurse your cats look like smaller versions of mine! I've got a tabby and a long hair black one too. Love them to bits, but the hair they generate... I don't know what crib you are getting, but the one we had last time came with a thin cover which sat over the top and was enough to keep the cats out of it. I remember using the fly net on the pram as well to stop them curling up in there (they used to love sleeping in the basket though).

WishIWasSleeping · 09/03/2017 06:18

You all make me laugh with your button down nighties from primark. I haven't looked at what they actually look like but all I can imagine in the old fashioned type that come down to your ankles... Grin
I brought a 3 piece set from Asda last time. Cream with butterflies on and it's a drop down vest top style at the top for BF. Which was fab as it was light and airy, if not a little low cut with my very rounded boobs! I cannot remember if I wore the nightie or the pjs and just took the bottom off, but I wore something on the top during labour then promptly whipped it off for skin to skin once baby was here anyway!
And in relation to BF in public that someone brought up, sorry I can't remember who! - I was more worried about my fat belly underneath the baby than my boobs being on show... and I had no problem BF in public. Usually in a coffee shop or cafe. Only once did 3 teenage boys realise and have a giggle! - but then my DD was really good with wanting to latch and the only problem we had was a constant stream of milk from the side of her mouth!

Autumnsweater · 09/03/2017 06:39

Loving everyone's cat photos! Mine likes to sleep on top of my maternity pillow right next to my bump, really cuddly at first then I get too hot in the middle of the night and push him off and he gets all grumpy about it Grin. Don't think the dogs have noticed I'm pregnant!

bean at least they're getting their seasons out of the way now though? My younger dog is 9 months, not had a season yet - just know she's going to start it as soon as I go into labour! Not looking forward to it, I've always had dogs up to now!
