Trying to sleep on my left. Yes it's when you lie flat on your back you're effectively compressing the major blood vessels!

I might try a cushion behind me to stop me rolling over? As per the article the risks are small but it's the waking feeling funny I don't like!

Rustler74 · 03/03/2017 19:14

During the pregnancy club that question was asked and the midwives reassured us that we would wake up uncomfortable or turn over automatically, long before oxygen supply to the placenta or foetus would be compromised. I know that opinions on this are divided, but I'm starting to believe it.

Guys I'm a terrible online friend! My brain cannot keep information in my head. It hurts!!

However tea I have this too. I wake up panting like I have been suffocated. It's either laying on my back or my OH is strangling me!!

I try to lay on left. But that's where my pain in my hip is!!

Sah1987 · 03/03/2017 19:17

I've only got 8 shifts at work now! A week on Tuesday is last day!! So pleased I really don't wanna be there!!

ClaireSunflower · 03/03/2017 19:28

teaspoon hope you're feeling better. That sounds really scary!
Re: nct classes ours are in Chislehurst and are starting on 23rd March. Good luck with yours. I'm hoping to meet some people too as I don't really have many friends in my local area (we only moved here a year ago) so would be nice to have some other mums to meet up with.

raspberry you have my sympathy with your commute as I'm on southeastern too. Nightmare this morning and this evening. Could barely make it through a massive zombie horde style crowd at Cannon Street this evening, fought my way onto the only train that was leaving and a lovely man who'd seen me on the platform gave me his seat, phew! Could really do without the stress of commuting. I still have 7 weeks before my maternity leave though.

ClaireSunflower · 03/03/2017 19:30

Oh and cinnamon I can't seem to find the email to the Facebook group either. Would you be able to resend it? I've checked my junk mail and don't think it's there!

teainbed · 03/03/2017 19:32

Like Sah it's a sort of suffocated feeling? I'm sure the baby isn't affected but along with that and nasal congestion and that 'air hunger' you get when pregnant it's pretty unpleasant!

yellowismyfavourite · 03/03/2017 19:49

teaspoon that sounds scary... glad all is ok.
adventure hope your last day went well. I have 4 weeks left but finding it hard.
My bump hiccups loads... sometimes more than once a day. Asked midwife and she said completely normal... nothing about 10 minutes though and have never thought to time them??

We are trying slings at NCT tomorrow... am looking forward to it. I also don't know many people locally and it's been good to meet other mums. DH is also getting a lot from it and seems a lot less nervous about becoming a dad!

newbieho · 03/03/2017 20:26

Claire you are local to me and Peached! How about meeting for a coffee someday?

growcookeat · 03/03/2017 20:35

Off to catch up with whole thread in a minute - so much to read! If I can stay awake after a crazy week at work. Only 4 weeks left now.

We have our first NCT class in the morning - excited to get started and meet some local people too. Not quite sure what to expect though!

Badgerbird · 03/03/2017 20:40

Good on your IL's rise!

Yep sleeping is a general ConfusedEnvySad anyway! I try and sleep on either side but have to turn regularly as hips hurt. I also have to be awake and virtually sit up to turn otherwise I seem to strain my tummy!?

I sometimes get a crazy pulsating in my throat when laying down. Like my heart is in there. Anyone else?? sah is that kind of what you get?

Teaspoon that sounds frightening and I'm glad you're ok now :)

savagehk · 03/03/2017 20:53

I've not heard the 10 minute thing for hiccoughs, but then my babies don't seem to get them. As for sleeping on your back, i seem to be able to this time, but last time it was very uncomfortable. Definitely try the pillow behind you trick.

beanturnipandspud · 03/03/2017 21:00

Evening ladies 🤰🏼

My DH is so happy with you all this evening, as he has just got a full game of FIFA on PlayStation whilst I read this thread! You have been busy today.

It's taken me more than half an hour and I've forgotten who said what. Going to have to start taking notes 🙈

I had my anti-d apt today, and a general check in with midwife. Who took blood, listened to heartbeat measured me and looked for presentation. Anyway, spud is going great is head down and growing along a nice line.

I asked about hiccups and there is no 10minute rule. Hiccups are hiccups and totally normal.
However, I have noticed that spud gets them if I drink an ice cold drink. Ha. I feel his really low down and they are in rhythm not random kicks. I can tell spud is headdown too because I feel hiccups low and also little scurry movements low (hands) big movements higher (bum) and strong movements somewhere near my belly button (feet).

Homebirth is now officially booked in my antenatal book 😊

cinnamon and savage please can you help me get on the fb page? I can't access the email address that my Facebook is set up with 😩

ClaireSunflower · 03/03/2017 21:07

newbieho I'd love to! Smile I'll pm you my email address and we'll have to set something up.

RasperryInAMelon · 03/03/2017 21:14

Claire that sounds brutal! Charing Cross wasn't much more pleasant this evening, it was only when I almost cried to myself in despair of not being able to get a seat that someone overheard me I managed to get a seat.

Where abouts are you based if you don't mind me asking? Would be nice to meet some of the local SE girls. I'm in Crayford. Fairly close to newbie and peached.

I've got a three hour drive down to my parents tomorrow... dread to think how long it'll actually take us! 🙈

Haha! Beanturnip I'm currently soaking in the bath and DH is downstairs screaming at FIFA!

ClaireSunflower · 03/03/2017 21:32

raspberry I'm in mottingham so not too far from you, would be great to meet up. Seems like there are a few of us in the se London area! Smile

PeachIcedT · 03/03/2017 21:39

Claire you are very nearby - in fact I nearly did those same NCT classes but the times didn't work well for me. I'd be up for a coffee nearby as it does seem there are lots of us in this small area Smile

As for the sleeping thing I'm trying to train myself that left side is best but it's not something I can sustain all night, and do several big 180 degree turns to the other side to relieve the hips. I don't like all these restrictions on sleeping positions! I am looking forward at some point not too long away to sleeping on my front again.

Teaspoon74 · 03/03/2017 21:55

Claire - Mottingham's not far at all. We used to have an allotment at Middle Park;)

Heading to bed to try and get a couple of hours kip before unpacking and painting tomorrow.

So much to do!!

RasperryInAMelon · 03/03/2017 22:27

I'll try to PM you girls. Maybe we should set up a WhatsApp group to arrange coffee? Smile

KLane · 03/03/2017 22:47

Raspberry Me too, please! I'm in Hither Green.

MissMooMoo · 03/03/2017 23:05

I am also waking up on my back and keep trying to get back onto my side.
The NCT teacher suggested putting a pillow under your hip to help.

newbieho · 04/03/2017 06:38

Thanks Rasperry, looking forward to the message

EsmesBees · 04/03/2017 06:44

I miss sleeping on my front too peaches. I couldn't while I was breastfeeding last time, so it might be ages til I can again. The sacrifices we make for these kidsWink

RasperryInAMelon · 04/03/2017 06:55

Why... oh why am I awake...

Clare, peached, tea, KLane, newbie I've PMd you.

If there's anyone I've missed or would like to arrange a coffee in the SE London area let me know Smile
