Hi......anyone out there just found out they're expecting? Thought it might be nice to start a little thread!
I've tested this morning and got a feint BFP, have recently had 2 m/c so may be being optimistic but I'm tired of worrying!! If it works out it works out!! Fingers crossed. If it's a sticky one I'm due bonfire night! 5/11/17.
Anyone else out there the same??Smile

Hi all, our secret Facebook group now has 17 members :)

If anyone new here would also like to join, please PM me with the email address you use to log in to FB. It's secret, so only members can see it.

As for me... 6+5 today and got my first appointment - with my GP - in order to tell her. Then I guess the journey officially starts. I have no idea what to expect, though reading this forum has taught me to expect a midwife appointment!

Also booked a private early scan at the end of next week (when I'll be 8+1), to check that it's real, looks normal, etc. Eeek! It's only £50, so well worth it.

When is best to get a Harmony/IONA test? At 10 weeks or 12?

MrsC2017 · 21/03/2017 13:15

anyfarrahfowler 6+3 over here too and I feel so so sick too, it's awful! Lasts all day and is definitely worse at night time!

DuRezidal · 21/03/2017 16:05

I am having a nightmare with my doctors, the receptionists are so bloody rude!!!

NoCatsHere · 21/03/2017 16:06

CC81 that's a great price. It's £90 here. I really want one at 8 weeks but it's a lot of money!

CC81 · 21/03/2017 17:08

@NoCatsHere - it's well worth shopping around and contacting a few places.

Initially, I found prices listed at £90 and over... but they were all fancy-dancy services with 3D prints and souvenirs, etc.

When I said I wanted a simple scan to check the basics, suddenly the price was lower.

So it's worth a go. The facility I've booked at is just a little suburban shop - not a hospital or another big place. But they have qualified sonographers and it's a national chain (named Before Birth).

Foggymist · 21/03/2017 17:35

Its €120 here for a private scan, so much money!

MrsC2017 · 21/03/2017 18:39

Foggy are you in Ireland too? Grin

Foggymist · 21/03/2017 19:38

@MrsC2017 yep!

DuRezidal · 21/03/2017 20:05

I had a private scan with my first baby to find out what I was having... I think it was £75 for that scan, but I do remember there were a few prices for different levels etc.

We used Baby Bond I think.

Just went to the loo and wiped a little blood :( straight after sending the self-referral form to the hospital for booking appointment...
ladies any of you have had any spotting? Did it go away? Constantly worried as I already had a MC 2 months ago

MrsB12345 · 21/03/2017 21:46

@pixietheginger I've had it 2 or 3 times. It's only been a wipe and light pink on the tissue. Spotting can be completely normal. Do you have any severe cramps / pain?x

pixietheginger · 21/03/2017 21:54

Thanks @MrsB12345, no pain or cramping, and just checked again and nothing, so hopefully it's normal!

MrsB12345 · 21/03/2017 23:21

I'm sure you will be fine. The pregnancy malarkey isn't easy is it x

MrsMonkeyBear · 22/03/2017 05:07

Had my booking in appointment yesterday. I was quite surprised that it was the same midwife as I saw with DD 3 years ago. Took her 4 attempts to get blood out of me and normally I'm a vampires dream so it was definitely her.

It's now just another 4 weeks to scan and then my next appointment is 9th may.

Due to my low bmi, I'll be seeing the consultant at 24 weeks and having 2 or 3 extra growth scans. I also have to have an internal scan at 20w to check my cervix as I've had previous LLETZ treatment.

JulyLady7 · 22/03/2017 08:02

Hi all,
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't posted since my bad news from the scan last week. I went for my follow up and miraculously, the bean was still there, measuring as it should with a great heartbeat and yolk sac not enlarged!
I'm so pleased! Remaining cautious until 12 weeks, but great news!

Foggymist · 22/03/2017 08:57

Great news July Lady!

pixietheginger · 22/03/2017 10:06

amazing news @JulyLady7 ! When is your next scan?

JulyLady7 · 22/03/2017 10:24

Thanks so much foggy and pixie. The consultant is lovely and said I can go next week, but I'm going to wait two weeks and go on 4th April. Should be coming up 10 weeks by then.

Rufus200 · 22/03/2017 11:10

Great news julylady

I'm 8+1 today which means I'm already 20% through this pregnancy. Now just to get through the hell of week 8-16 when hopefully the nausea will pass. With DS I couldn't move from wk 12-14, just spent 2 wks sat on the sofa starring into space as lying down made me retch, watching tv made me retch, walking to the toilet made me retch. Fun times ahead!

Oddsocksforeveryone · 22/03/2017 11:24

Hi everyone. Kids and I had a stomach bug so I've not been on for a while. Had my midwife booking appointment last week, she is using my LMP so on paper I'm 11 weeks. I think I'm less. Just found out I have another 3 weeks until my scan though and it's making me sad. Has anyone ever had a private early scan like baby bond when they were obese? I'm a size 18/20 with a very attractive flabby belly from my 3 huge bumps/sections and assume this will affect the difficulty for scanning? Plus I could currently be 8 weeks so there wouldn't be much to see anyway? I just am driving myself mad worrying that there's no baby in there or something x

NoCatsHere · 22/03/2017 13:26

Hey socks did you fall pg before your first period after a mc. Sorry for asking only I can't remember and I am in that sameness boat. I just thought it odd your midwife is using your LMP which for me wouldn't be right at all?

And re the private scan I've no idea, I'd like one too. I'm pretty sure your size won't matter at all though so try not to worry. You couldn't ring and ask them advice. Maybe they will offer you an internal scan if you're nearer 8 weeks?

MrsMonkeyBear · 22/03/2017 14:12

oddsocks if I remember correctly if they can't do an abdominal scan they may do a trans vaginal (aka dildo cam)

I ended up with dildo cam to get dds spinal measurement as I couldn't get my bladder to either be full or empty enough for them to see properly.

Foggymist · 22/03/2017 15:24

oddsocks they'd probably do an internal scan at that gestation and if you have a bit of a belly, as it works by ultrasound waves they can only penetrate so far and abdominal fat or skin might block it.

MrsC2017 · 22/03/2017 15:59

oddsocks that is how dating is done, first day of your last period, until now, it's weird because for two weeks of your cycle you technically weren't pregnant but it counts!
