boxesoffrogs I have eczema too and it's flared up since being pregnant. I spoke to my doctor and he reassured me that using my super strength (9%) steroid cream is ok as long as I don't go overboard... although that's hard to judge as it just gets increasingly worse unless I begin treating it twice a day. Anyway, I've got on top of it a bit more and plan to just use the steroid to keep on top and then using my usual moisturiser regularly helps too. I of course don't know if this will work for you but that's what I do!

boxesoffrogs · 03/03/2017 07:02

Ah poor you emvy, you have my sympathy! It's not nice is it... after stupidly googling and frightening myself with scare stories about steroid cream being bad during pregnancy, I have just been struggling along. But if the GP says it's ok, then will be welcoming the steroid cream back with open arms! (Will ring just to double check today, being a neurotic first timer, obviously!).

Do you mind me asking which moisturiser you normally use? I have dermol at the moment, which has generally been ok, but at the moment it isn't even touching it or relieving the itch, horrible red bumpy rashes and scratches from my nails all over me Sad

Morning to everyone, hope all is well.

doomkittycleo · 03/03/2017 07:11

I'm doing ok, but nausea is getting worse, just in time for my ski holiday 🤢. We fly at 7am tomorrow. Really hoping I can still enjoy it. I'm currently sitting on the floor trying to psych myself up to get a shower. Not been this bad yet.

Those who are actually vomiting you have my sympathy.

mummabubs · 03/03/2017 07:26

In danger of jinxing myself... this is the first morning in a week that I haven't thrown up, winner winner!!! Hope everyone's nausea behaves today xx

Corrinax · 03/03/2017 07:29

Morning

Im in panic mode again this morn Confused i see midwife yesterday for 1st appointment all seems good i havnt had many symptoms other than sore nipples n maybe headaches but now i wake up this morning and my boobs/nipples not sore anymore so now im worrying im 8 weeks today based on lmp

Anyone have the same?

Anotherminime · 03/03/2017 07:35

Morning boxesoffrogs sorry to hear about yours and emvys eczema. It sounds really difficult to manage and must be challenging to just keep scratching. Pregnancy can be really hard can't it - making sure you do the best for the little one you're growing!

10storeylovesong · 03/03/2017 07:50

boxesoffrogs I don't think you're being left behind - I'm 9+2 and have my booking in apt this afternoon and not even got my scan apt through yet. I'm hoping they can get me that this afternoon. Seems a bit off as I'm assuming I'll be classed as high risk but I don't suppose they can do anything this early so a week won't make much difference!

boxesoffrogs · 03/03/2017 07:51

Thanks another, it's really not a very nice condition to have, anything and everything causes it to flare up, there is no rhyme or reason, and sadly no cure, just 'management', I've had it all my life and nothing has really worked, except being in the sun ponders moving abroad to the Mediterranean. Can't take my usual medication as it is not suitable for pregnancy. Then again, worse things happen at sea, although that's hard to remember when you are up at 3 in the morning feeling as though tiny ants are marching under your skin, and you wake up with your bed looking like a murder scene as you have scratched yourself silly! Pregnancy seems to have made it a lot worse... as you said, the things we put up with eh?

Anyone else keep forgetting that they aren't supposed to do/eat/take certain things?

boxesoffrogs · 03/03/2017 07:52

That's good to know 10storey. Sorry to hear you are high risk, and good luck for this afternoon, hope you get your scan appointment!

emvy · 03/03/2017 08:14

boxesoffrogs yours sounds slightly worse generally than mine. Mine tends to be isolated to particular areas (hands worst at the moment). I was worried about steroid cream too but I haven't googled as doctor said ok and have enough to worry about without that as well, ha. I actually use a ridiculously expensive Lush moisturiser which is perfumed so I don't know if it'd be suitable. It just seems to work for me. It costs a bomb and runs out pretty quickly but smells lush and doesn't make me itch so it'll do me fine!

Also keep forgetting about the food/medicine thing. I went to make a carbonara with raw egg yesterday. And then bought cheese I can't eat. Also went to take some antihistimines when my asthma was so bad I couldn't breathe and read I couldn't take that. Gah!

Anotherminime · 03/03/2017 08:19

Hi Corrinax my sore boobs went fairly early on, it was one of the first things I noticed, even before getting my BFP. I also felt a bit nauseous for a week or so, but that's pretty much gone now too, I just seem more suceptible to feeling very hungry! However I didn't have any real symptoms through my last pregnancy so I'm not particularly worried. Pretty much the same thing happened as in a had a few symptoms and then they tailed off. I think all you can do it take comfort from a lack of bleeding (not that bleeding is always a bad sign!) and keep yourself busy (thus not worrying about it!) until your scan.

doomkittycleo · 03/03/2017 08:19

I doubt anybody has been left behind. In my area, the midwife said they don't do your booking in until 10-11 weeks. Feels like a long wait, but nothing I can do about it. I'm assuming they'll book my scan for after that.

ThatGirl82 · 03/03/2017 08:25

Hi Emvy I know that they say runny eggs are OK to eat now, so maybe the same for raw eggs? Apparently the eggs we have in this country are safe (assuming they have the lion stamp on).

charmanar · 03/03/2017 08:29

emvy I know lots of women won't want to take the risk, but there was evidence last year (not sure if they have updated official guidelines yet) that raw eggs fine as long as British and have lion stamp (most do) as pretty much no salmonella these days from eggs, so I'm just buying the best quality I can and eating them super runny, yummm!!
Yesterday threw up in Pret A Manger and today threw up in bed, but I'm just so glad I'm someone who can easily vomit, it makes you feel (temporarily) so much better! Meant to be going out for dinner tonight so may just have a cheeky vom before I leave the house and then I should be good to go 😂.

confusedat23 · 03/03/2017 08:32

Those who are struggling with Eczema I have just started to use Centraben (think it is called) it is in a blue and white plunger tub thing and it is really really good! They do it in a little version in Boots and we tried that first to make sure it works and its great! I have also found my tattoos are really itching (I have both my thighs covered) and its helping with that also!

Corrinax I always find putting my bra on for an hour or so makes them ache sufficiently when I take it off again!... Also you might just be getting used to them aching? so it seems like it isn't as bad?

Frogs I also feel the same... I self referred 2 weeks ago and I have not heard anything back... It says on their website to allow 14 days to process the forms but it also says if you do not get a confirmation letter within 6 days to re-refer. I tried calling and if you are on hold for more than 10 mins it fowards you to the answer machine... but it also had a queue countdown which meant as soon as I got to place 1 in the queue it reached 10 mins and I got cut off! so annoying

confusedat23 · 03/03/2017 08:33

Also does anyone else just feel really hungover? I get the occasional wave of nausea especially after eating but I mainly just feel like I have been out all night on the lash!

boxesoffrogs · 03/03/2017 08:40

Thanks for the tip confused, might pop to boots later and give it a go. Willing to try anything right now!

Just going to wait and see when they get in touch, if I've not heard I'll contact the GP again, round here you have to go through them...

Empathise with others who are losing or not having symptoms, only thing I have going on at the moment is sore boobs and headaches (along with the skin problems). Don't even feel that tired at the moment... however, decided I am going to try and stay positive until proved otherwise, tricky as that may be.

emwithme · 03/03/2017 09:22

confused yes! I feel just like I've been drinking all weekend. A bit queasy, a bit tired, the kind of feeling where you logically know a big fry-up will make you feel better but you just can't face the first mouthful in case it bounces.

Cath1212 · 03/03/2017 09:39

Corrinax pretty much the same here, I think there is just such a wide variety of symptoms and how bad people feel. I have only felt a little sick and the boobs arent too bad

Just in case this is helpful to anyone else, one of my friends who had a baby last year, always used to have a slice of toast in the morning, as soon as she woke up, before she got out of bed. I have been doing this everyday until today (ran out of bread!!), and after 10 minutes of being up was dry retching (nice!). I know this wont help those who are really suffering but just wanted to pass it on!

GreedyDuck · 03/03/2017 10:11

I also feel rather hungover confused, which is handy as it's the excuse I used to my boss this morning for not firing on all cylinders. It's a new one on me as I had absolutely no sickness or nausea at all when I was pg with my dd.

pollybythesea · 03/03/2017 10:36

i had my booking appointment scheduled for 9am today but the midwife didnt show... then the replacement midwife didnt show... the clinic didn't know what had happened so sent me home and said someone would call. great start!

Poppet8583 · 03/03/2017 10:47

Hello ladies! Can I join you? Expecting my first baby on 18th October so currently 7+3. Super-excited but also a bit nervous as I'm still a few weeks away from the 12 week scan. I have my first midwife appointment on Monday (beginning of week 8) so looking forward to that.

I was just reading the thread and looking at everyone's symptoms - I didn't have lots before week 6 (apart from tiredness, which hasn't gone yet!) but this week has brought nausea, one of the worst headaches I've ever had and sore, swollen boobs! It'll all be worth it in the end though.

Hope you're all doing ok and excited for all the October babies!

TippetyTapWriter · 03/03/2017 10:50

Sorry polly that sounds so annoying! Hope they get in touch soon.

I had mine today. Turns out in this area they split it into two and the next visit will be in a few weeks when she comes to my house, and I also have to go separately to the hospital to get my bloods done. Seems a bit inefficient compared to where I used to live where it was all done in one 40-50 min appointment! Dh was off work this morning to look after ds, now I'm going to have to take ds to hospital with me and probably wait an hour or more with a bored toddler to get my bloods done. Grr.

thisismadness77 · 03/03/2017 11:10

Corrinax I'm the same with the boobs. Keep groping thinking they don't hurt anymore, just a bit heavy.

hometownunicorn · 03/03/2017 11:12

I now have an early scan booked in for Monday (when I'll be 9+4) as I've had a bit of brown spotting. The midwife said she wasn't too worried as there's no pain or cramps and it's not red but has referred me to epu for reassurance anyway. I don't quite know what to do with myself until then, although I am feeling better just thinking that at least then I'll know either way. The uncertainty is definitely the hardest thing.

Other than that I'm another one who can't stop eating, mostly sweet stuff which is quite unusual. Assuming everything is ok with this baby I think at the moment it's about 90% biscuit. And I keep forgetting what I can and can't eat too, which is a bit annoying. I nearly made poached eggs the other day by mistake.
