I've been lurking for a bit and feel like it's probably time to join! Firstly, bubbles I'm really so sorry that you're going through such an uncertain time, and I am hoping and keeping everything crossed for you that you get postive news on Monday. Please keep us updated Flowers

My EDD is 5th October Grin I had some bleeding with clots at 6 weeks which was absolutely terrifying, particularly because we had an early miscarriage last October so it felt like it was happening again. Thankfully, we had a scan (internal), and to our absolute relief we saw that everything was fine and could see the heartbeat flickering away! I had a tiny tiny amount of spotting a week later but my midwife wasn't concerned.

My 12 week (which is actually 13 weeks for me!) is the 30th March, which seems FOREVER away to me. So, I have booked a reassurance scan for a week on Tuesday when I will be around 10 weeks and I can't wait. I am a very anxious person, but I'm feeling really positive about it. Booking a reassurance scan has made me feel like I have a little bit more control over it all, which is nice.

My only symptoms at the moment are incredibly sore boobs (if I hadn't have had a scan I would swear I was growing a baby in my boobs, they're that sore Grin) . I've also been a bit more tired than usual and very very hungry!!

Wishing everyone happy and uneventful pregnancies Flowers

emvy · 25/02/2017 18:38

Hi bumblingbee! Good to hear everything was fine after a worrying time at 6 weeks and best of luck at your 10 week scan. Certainly feeling the lack of control over everything tough going - being a control freak does not pair well with pregnancy, ha!

BumblingBee89 · 25/02/2017 18:43

emvy is so hard isn't it? I like having control over things and making things happen if I want them to happen so leaving things to mother nature is not my style Grin

emvy · 25/02/2017 18:53

So incredibly hard! I always live under the mantra that if I want something, I'll work as hard as I can to get it but as this is just a 'what will be, will be' situation I'm finding it hard to, like you say, allow Mother Nature to take its course! I hope it's kind to us! Grin bumblingbee

Bubbles225 · 25/02/2017 19:28

Thanks for the support & reassuring words, it means a lot Smile
Great news power!
Glad to hear things are turning positive for you too bumbling
Here's to relaxing & reassuring times ahead!

BumblingBee89 · 25/02/2017 21:01

Oh my gosh emvy I think you might be me 😂 that is my mantra too! Someone actually said 'remember, what will be will be' to me when I was having the bleeding, and it's a good thing I'm a nice person because my instinct when they said it wasn't very nice at all 😂

emvy · 25/02/2017 21:05

Paha! I've had practically the same advice! My mum said to me when I had a bleed as well, 'remember, you can't be in control of everything. There are some things you can't know the answer to straight away and some things you just can't control'. Right, thanks then mother. It's horrific isn't it bumblingbee! Actually good to know I'm not the only one Grin

MoominMama22 · 25/02/2017 21:14

But you can't control it though Confused it really is one of the things in life you just have to let happen to you. Even paying for extra scans etc it won't change any outcomes. I know it's empty advice when you can't help but worry... I had HG last pregnancy and if anyone so much as mentions a ginger biscuit as a "helpful suggestion to ease nausea" I will punch them in the face Grin 😂

BumblingBee89 · 25/02/2017 21:25

I know moomin , you are right. It's silly really. I think we're so used to having control over most aspects of our lives, that when we don't we don't quite know what to do about it 😂

emvy · 25/02/2017 21:48

Yeah we know it really moomin it's just hearing it reminds you of the distinct lack of control that we find difficult to deal with I think Grin! It's a massive learning curve and I feel like I'm getting stronger each day, I definitely needed this kind of challenge and I was completely unprepared for it - I thought I'd love every moment of pregnancy because I've wanted it for so long and was completely thrown at the feelings of panic I've felt! Incredible journey and I'm only coming up to week 7!! (Please ignore distinct lack of accurate present and past tense grammar. Tired.)

Zookeeper73 · 25/02/2017 22:01

Welcome to the latest newbies!

Bubbles, I'm sorry you're joining us in limbo, hopefully you get two healthy strong heartbeats on your next scan. I can't believe they didn't do the internal scan right away!

Corrinax · 25/02/2017 22:54

Im due on the 13th oct Smile midwife next week swollen boobs n headaches r my only symptom so far just anxious as had mmc in aug n wnt this little bean to be ok xxx

thepotatoesofdefiance · 26/02/2017 00:45

soapycomb I had a stomach bug at about 5 weeks, was ill for 3 days and barely ate. I haven't had any scans yet but it doesn't seem to have done any harm, I felt better for about a day then morning sickness kicked in and symptoms have continued much like my previous pregnancies. My sis had 2 stomach bugs during her second pregnancy but her dd was perfectly fine. It does depend what's causing your sickness I suppose, there are a couple of food poisoning type bugs that can effect the foetus but a standard stomach bug shouldn't do any harm.

Whyarealltheusernamestaken · 26/02/2017 01:15

Hi all, just checking in, wow these threads move on fast! Had my booking in appointment this week and midwife was lovely which was reassuring. Waiting now for an early scan date and consultant as classed as high risk. Knew I would be so am actually relieved they will scan early rather than wait until 12 weeks. Will maybe start believing this is real when I get to see it for myself! I keep having really vivid dreams though about twins/triplets....really hoping that's just my imagination and not some weird psychic thing! Not sure how on earth I'll be with one baby let alone multiple!!!

Glad to see I've lots of company for a 9th Oct due date :)

Tigger83 · 26/02/2017 07:17

Can anyone give any advice shed any light! I'm 4+5 and my back is starting to really ache and now my hips have joined the party! I know that relaxin can do this but I didn't think it'd happen so early!

Rachieg88 · 26/02/2017 08:19

I have no idea I'm afraid tigger but I usually just have a nice hot bath to sort out out?!

Sorry to hear so many of you are going through tough times- I feel bad moaning about how spotty and constipated I am when I know I should count myself lucky that I only feel horrendously sick for an hour or two a day!! 6+2 here and just waiting for my midwife appointment on 16th. Did anyone take their DH? Mine is desperate to come but not sure it's the done thing?! Blush

charmanar · 26/02/2017 08:25

tigger yes think it's the relaxin, you have to be careful with sports as easy to injure yourself, my (pre-existing) knee injury is worse at the moment. Spd can start really early in some people, hope mine doesn't come back yet!

My nausea has started now, although still manageable. I'm happy about it atm as it means I'm feeling a bit more pregnant, but I'm sure I'll be moaning about it within days.

6 weeks today and I've already told my parents and loads of my friends 🙈 I'm so bad at keeping secrets!

doomkittycleo · 26/02/2017 08:26

Rachieg88 I plan to take my DP, I got the impression from the GP, that they'll want his family history too (in case there's any genetic conditions run in his family).

emvy · 26/02/2017 08:35

Rachie I asked this question over on the pregnancy boards a while back and the general response was that they don't need to go unless there's some medical issue that needs to be discussed. However, lots of people said they did take their OHs with their first pregnancies, they just realised it wasn't really necessary after, so I guess it's upto you.

I did take my OH with me to mine but that was because we'd had an emergency scan that morning and he therefore had already been given the day off. Otherwise, we decided we were going to wait to save taking time off for (hopefully!) future appointments.

GreedyDuck · 26/02/2017 08:47

I didn't bother taking dp, it's a pretty long dull appointment, lots of questions and form filling. I just asked him whether there was anything that should be flagged up i.e. a history of heart disease/diabetes/anything else in his family.

He came to the main scans, although not all the later growth ones I had, and to the appt where my c-section date was agreed.

Zookeeper73 · 26/02/2017 08:49

Yay, corrinax another due date buddy for the 13th!

Babycarmen · 26/02/2017 08:55

I had another bleed yesterday (7+0) which really upset me, it was heavier then before and there was red blood too Sad
I phoned the maternity ward (epu closed at weekend and I've already been seen there so was told to if anything happens) and the midwife could tell I was upset so talked to me for a while. She said I was welcome to go up to the ward and be IP any time but because the epu was closed I probably wouldn't get scanned til Monday. Because I'm not having cramps or any pain it could be nothing so it's not enough to call the consultant. She was very reassuring. I'm meant to be scanned on Tuesday anyway but she pulled it forward to Monday for me. I really don't have a good feeling about it though. I cried for about 5 hours yesterday, I got myself in such a state. I just want tomorrow to come.

punkpuffin · 26/02/2017 09:09

Wow I've been away and it all over so quick! I've got about 5 pages to catch up on!

doomkittycleo · 26/02/2017 09:10

Thinking of you BabyCarmen that sounds so scary, I hope today goes quick and you get answers soon.

emvy · 26/02/2017 09:15

Oh babycarmen what a scary time, I'm so sorry. If it makes it any better (which it probably won't but worth a try), I felt very hopeless after my scan on Thursday and was certain my symptoms were disappearing and my baby had definitely stopped growing. However, just a couple of days later and after reading lots of stories with good outcomes I'm feeling more positive. My point is, give it time and hopefully you'll be able to grab a hold of that little bit of hope and it will grow and you will begin to feel that all is not lost. Take it easy today but watch a film you love or your favourite boxset to keep your mind off it as much as possible. I wish you the absolute best of luck for tomorrow and will say little prayer for you Flowers
