Thought I would get there 1st!!!

Zooming in - almost finished housework and feeling less stressed out - poor DH, he came home to a very wound-up mummy when he got home for lunch - after almost driving into a wall on my way back from dropping him off at work (!!!!) and doing lots of cleaning and hoovering, I must say I am feeling better! Still got lots to do though .....

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom ........

ARGH - Can't remember anything anyone said, apart from MrsGV getting the wrong end of the stick ..... LOL!

Hope everyone else is ok!!

Evening everyone

DH received his subbuteo set today. He know tells me that he's going to finish boarding out the loft, get a pasting table and is going to build a stadium for it!!!!!!

Anyone else married to a 30 year old?!

We did have a conversation lst night about the subbuteo and he said can't you see the fun in it? I said no, never seen the attraction of flicking little plastic men at each other

Oh well it'll keep him out of my hair and I actually doubt whether the table in the loft plan will amount to anything.

At least he makes me laugh, silly sod!!!!

Bugmum · 23/02/2007 19:21

Flump - If you see this, try Three Blind Mice or Prohibitions (this is the better one); look them up on Amazon. They are by me ! Seriously, I won't be at all offended if you don't, but I am rubbish at recommending myself, I know other writers do it all the time, so am trying to train myself...

liath · 23/02/2007 19:59

At the risk of sounding thick - what is subbuteo? Is it table football?

Good books....Small Island by Andrea Levy was good. Didn't think a lot of time travellers wife I'm afraid. I like anything by William Boyd & ordered his latest paperback yesterday. Read "Unless" by Carol Shields recently for my book club which wasn't bad. If you want very very funny very black humour then Quite Ugly One Morning by Christopher Brookmyre is a great read but seriously scatalogical....

Have 6 books lined up to read, not sure if I'll manage before having this baby but went a bit beserk on Amazon yesterday (that one-click shop thing is fatal..).

liath · 23/02/2007 20:00

Bugmum - will keep an eye out for your book also, am in serious awe, I'd love to have the talent to write.

WestCountryLass · 23/02/2007 20:38

Good reviews on Amazon Bugmum Will deffo have a nose when i've finished my latest read.

maveta · 23/02/2007 20:39

Yes Birdiebump sigh I eventually did stop work.. finally at home eating a chicken pita..mmm

bugmum - v. impressed! Will look out for your books

Eddas - my dh is the same with his plans for the loftspace. It´s where his 2nd set of drums live and is unfinished i.e. bare concrete floors and walls. Boy you should hear the great plans he has for that space.. paint, floorlaying, curtains, dividers, lamps. Yeah, yeah darling, what.ever.

Emmymummy · 23/02/2007 20:40

Oooo Bugmum - have just found your books on Amazon. I am very impressed! Will do some ordering of books tomorrow I think as love reading & will hopefully get some time before this one's born. Funny the different views on Time Traveller's Wife as I loved it - the ending really hit me.

1B3 - what is it with these kids and their ear infections? Fortunately Em loves her anti-B medicine (it is the yellow lemon flavoured stuff), so it goes down easily. She'll even get the bottle and ask if it's time for her to take some more!

CD - were the curly wurlys supposed to be ladders?

Eddas · 23/02/2007 20:57

Liath, subbuteo is table football. Basically 22 plastic men on a sort of weeble base that you flick at each other. Sounds exciting doesn't it!!!

Maveta LOL at men and their plans, bless em. I just let him carry on, same as you, yeah yeah. You know it's never going to come to anything!!!

maveta · 23/02/2007 21:13

Girls what´s the etiquette re. buying stuff i.e. not from ebay. If you are trying to find out availability/ price from 2 different sellers, 1 has got back to you and 1 hasn´t. How long can you hang out for the answer from the 2nd before you are being unfair to the 1st?

Did that make any sense?

CaptainDippy · 23/02/2007 21:19

Arse to Anti-B's for poor DD's ear infection 1B3 - Erm, not sure what tips to recommend for getting the flmain' stuff into her excpet bribery, corruption and generally ramming a syringe down the side of her cheek / her throat and forcing her to have it!!!!!!

All these poor sick children, eh!!?

Had a fab time at the Zoo and only had one huge meltdown from DD2 - boy was I glad to have MIL htere as well as my dad - definitely took three adults to keep tabs on my two little horrors!! Bedtime was ..... interesting .... just glad they are down now ......

DH just gone out to get cake tin from PIL, then the cake-making commences - we're going to decorate it tomrorow night ..... and yes the Curly Wurlys are for ladders, EmmyMummy ..... think there's still one left .....

Ahem.

Great book recommendations from people - will definitely check out your titles Bugmum - Well Done you!!

Eddas · 23/02/2007 21:26

Maveta, it'd depend on what it was and how desperate i was to get it. If you think seller 1's quote is ok then i wouldn't think you're being unfair to seller 2 if they haven't got back to you and you buy from seller 1

muminabigtumi · 24/02/2007 07:39

Ellie and AngeG did a great job though!

muminabigtumi · 24/02/2007 08:08

God it's taken me over an hour to catch up on all that...
Have been out and about catching up with friends and their kids for the last 2 days - allgood fun but very tiring!
Had a scary experience yesterday when driving on the M6 and a crane in front of me blew a tyre. was very frightening and James got sucha fright he screamed the rest of the way home...so by the time I got home I was a nervous wreck....decided that wil be the last long journey I drive in this pregnancy - I spent the whole time in a panic as lorries pulled out in front etc etc....!

My poor friend Mel had anightmare yesterday as well and locked her keys int he car with her little girl and had to get the Police to coe and break in - honestly we are not fit to be let out!

EllieK - you've probably gone now but I hope you have a fab time at your 80's weekend - I am v jelous.

Hope all poorlie kids are on the mend and also poorly Mums too - SOSPL - hope the cold is a bit better!

Good news re Becky's dry nights (sorry to hear re blu tac and peeing on sofa incident).

CD - hope little one resumes morning nap for you soon hun...and good luck with the cake making!

Doginsantasgrotto - nice to hear from you - glad you are getting excited. I have to admit I am too...just want to finish work now and get my date for my c section.

Out again today with friends so won't get to post much - hope everyone else is well that I haven't individually mentioned....thinking of you all
xxxx

Katy44 · 24/02/2007 08:57

Wow Bugmum, am really impressed with the fact you're a writer - I'd love to be able to do that! Your reviews are fantastic too!
miabt, that sounds scary - poor James.

Well, we're off out tonight with our parents as it's our wedding anniversary on Monday - they're taking us for a meal to the hotel we had our reception. What on earth do I wear?!

weeonion · 24/02/2007 09:04

i cant find bugmums book all i get is books by Ed someone - is that your pen name??????

Katy44 · 24/02/2007 09:06

I assume it's these

hensden · 24/02/2007 09:29

Hello everyone just popping in to say "hi". Haven't had a computer for a week and am seriously bhind with all thats going on here will try and catch up later. Well the builders are here started Monday and OMG DD and I have been moved into the dining room with all the contents of our room and the loft, we can't use the kitchen as the builders have come through the ceiling in several places and there's plaster, dripping water, and mouse poo every where, they've hit a wire some where so there's no power in the kitchen either so no washing machine or light. My washing pile (about 30 loads now) is growing by the second ) they get here at 7am and leave at about 9pm, I don't think I can take much more but at least i can now come and moan to you lot. DH seems to think i'm making a fuss and says we can't get any more take away food as it's costing more than the building work where am I meant to cook FFS
Anyway hope all of you are having a restful weekend and all with bugs, colds etc feel better soon.
Thanks for letting me vent, I'll be back when i've caught up a bit or i sooner if I need to erupt again
Hugs to all
Lynda

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 24/02/2007 09:40

Hi gorgeous people.

How are we all?

We are at the pil's, so can't be on long.
Totally knackered today. B woke up at 5.45 a.m. and has been awake ever since. She woke at this time when she stayed here a month ago, and I put it down to the heating coming on at that time. And guess what, it does!
Dh's mum suggested it was the birds that woke her up! What the f! We do have birds where we live funnily enough and B has never been bothered by them there!

She makes me so mad with her stupdity and lack of common sense sometimes!

Saying that I can't be too mean, as I haven't had to lift a finger since I have been here, and Becky had another DRY night!!!

Dh and I are going to go out to dinner tonight as well which should be lovely, although at this point I could happily crawl back to bed!

Right, need to go. Picking up a chair today, although at the mo, my car is well and truly stuck on the front grass and they are having a nightmare getting it off - oops!

flumppootle · 24/02/2007 10:03

Morning all

Thankyou all for the book tips - WOW Bugmum!!! Next stop amazon
I did have a quick look in the book section of MN and ended up chuckling over one of the Jilly Cooper threads and forgot to look for book recommendations

DD has tonsilitis the nurse looked at me like I was a pile of poo and the worst mother in Swindon. She started her anti-bs last night and is brighter this morning so hoping that she is able for her birthday tea tomorrow. Are others poorly los feeling better yet?

How's the cake CaptainDippy?

Oh Hensen what a pickle to be in, that sounds like a nightmare. Not sure what you could cook without a kitchen??????

LOL at man plans Maveta and Eddas. My dh is the opposite, DIY is considered a swear word in this house.

Have a lovely meal SOSPL and great weekend all round. We have another viewing book for Sunday so fingers crossed girls

runnyhabbit · 24/02/2007 10:08

Morning all

Dh is back from Glasgow He has seen to ds this morning, which meant I could stay in bed with a cup of tea - the luxury! The 2 of them are now tidying up dh van, which is just the best thing in the world for ds, although as soon as dh said "daddys van" ds went and got his wellies - before anyone was dressed lol

sospl - great news on another a dry night Ds wakes when the heating comes on too - so I switched it off completely last night, and he slept until 8am. Which is far more reasonable on a weekend

miabt - that must've been so scary - glad you're ok though

lol at men and their toys - dh is just the same. He has decided that he is going to board the loft, and put a railway track up there, or a scaletrix, he can't decided atm. As long as doesn't involve any effort on my part, I don't really mind unless it starts getting very expensive..

CD - hope you make enough cake to feed us too Big Onion can do the rounds, lol. Take lots of pics too.

Only one week left in work.......

Have a lovely weekend all.

xxx

runnyhabbit · 24/02/2007 10:13

flumpootle - I wish dh would think that DIY was a swear word Don't get me wrong, even though I might be biased, he is absolutley brilliant at DIY, which can save us a small fotune, but it takes him bloomin' ages to get anything done. And when I suggest getting someone in to do it, he goes on about how he's not going to pay someone else, when he can do it. As a result, we have lots of unfinished jobs in our house (like no flooring in our hall....)

Katy44 · 24/02/2007 10:21

Sorry if anyone is sick of this whole thread title thing, but it's really starting to irritate me now. Just wish all this nastiness had never started, but now it has I just want some acknowledgement that we maybe had a point!! I can't let it go - it's not one of my best qualities, I admit.

Anyway, I have an assignment to finish that I was meant to finish the week before last, maybe I'd better make a start for today!

muminabigtumi · 24/02/2007 10:39

Wow Bugmum!
I will go and definatley buy those! :-)
I must have missed that message last time I checked!

Hensden - I really feel for you having the upheaval (sp?) to deal with, is there any end in sight? Could a friend or rellie that lives nearby help you out by doing a few loads of washing or something? I wish there was something more constructive I could suggest - just remember to try and find a quiet space to go and sit with a cuppa and rest....you MUST try and keep the stress level to a minimum x

Runny - v jelous of your morning - have been since 5.50 with James (SOSPL - poor you too!!!) - I have to admit though I stuck the TV on and curled back up on the sofa with a throw and have dozed for a bit whilst he played but even so - would rather be in bed!! Never mind - will be my "turn" for the lie in tomorrow!
Have to say that Phil has made a definate effort the past few days to get home a tad earlier and bath James and help me get him ready...it has made a real difference.

Oh Hensden - just a thought.....TEsco etc do some nice steam meals that you microwave - they have relativley nice fresh ingredients and you only need a micro for them....just a thought if the takeaway thing is becoming a problem?

Right off to get dressed
x
Enjoy your meal SOSPL!

runnyhabbit · 24/02/2007 11:29

Katy - I know where you're coming from with the whole title thing, esp as we have one the nicest threads on MN (imo)
However,(I'm going to stick my grown up head on ) that particular mner really can't have anything more important to do with her life than criticise things that do not concern her. So lets just forget about the whole thing, and concentrate on the important stuff, like chocolate (finally my chocolate craving has kicked in ), and buying cute baby things
