Thought I would get there 1st!!!

Zooming in - almost finished housework and feeling less stressed out - poor DH, he came home to a very wound-up mummy when he got home for lunch - after almost driving into a wall on my way back from dropping him off at work (!!!!) and doing lots of cleaning and hoovering, I must say I am feeling better! Still got lots to do though .....

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom ........

ARGH - Can't remember anything anyone said, apart from MrsGV getting the wrong end of the stick ..... LOL!

Hope everyone else is ok!!

liath · 26/02/2007 16:36
  • looking fab GMM. A nice fix of sunshine is just what we need at this stage - I think we should all go & stay with Maveta!
weeonion · 26/02/2007 16:37

i think maveta and her cats should do a crash course in midwifery and run a home birth unit. birth al fresco with ice cream - the idea coud ctach on??

charNbump · 26/02/2007 16:38

ok any help appreciated....
At aroung 2.45pm today all of a sudden had immense back pains right in my lower back, my belly is tigtening gently on and off too. Rang an on call midwife who didn't seem at all concerned, even when i told her been having belly ache since friday (although this has died off today). Thing is i'm still in agony when i move and am a little concerned....
Baby was 4/5 engaged at my last midwife appt on 20th feb so am starting to worry this could be the start of something
Will rind my midwife hopefully when i get home from work...does sharp pains in the bottom of back sound like the start of labour or ??????

any advice welcomed xxxxxxx

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 16:45

ooooh not sure... braxton hicks maybes? Although I've never had these so really wouldnt know..

How many weeks are you now?

Hellcat · 26/02/2007 16:46

thanks for the big welcome all ,

a relief it seems I have fallen in with a bunch of nutters.

How do I get my husband to have sex with me?

I've told him its safe, but he's convinced his manhood is so unnaturally huge that he will 'hurt the baby'.

sigh....

charNbump · 26/02/2007 16:47

33 weeks

seriously the pain is actually quite unreal

claricebean · 26/02/2007 16:51

Hey girls,

Hope you're all well. Haven't had a chance to read the back log yet. DH back in the UK but my sister is here helping out now.

CharN - for me sharp anything wasn't a sign of labour. Contractions started off barely noticeable and became stronger but like period type pain, a duller ache IYSWIM. Obviously they got worse than period pain, but still of the same type. I felt them mostly in my legs and lower back. Sharp pains for me are more to do with long periods in one position or walking for a long time. Everyone's different though. I'd phone again if you're concerned.

Right, off to read everyone else's news.

Eddas · 26/02/2007 16:52

Char, sounds a bit scary no advice i'm affraid but keep on at the mw, hope it all gets sorted

WO, i think that with pl you do have to give an actual start date not just when the baby arrives. Haven't read other posts yet so not sure what the others say. It is a pain but i told dh to just say he was having it at the end of april(i think!) and then he's going to take 2 weeks holiday as soon as the baby arrives, which they will be flexible with.

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 16:52

If its that bad I would fone the midwife again...poor you... actually you are frightening me.... I'm only 2 weeks behind you!!!

Hmm hellcat.. not sure, we have only done it a couple of times since I developed a bump, wasnt particulary comfortable but I was happy enough, although it has been ages now, dp says it just doesnt seem right and although he finds me incredibly sexy its in a completly different way at the moment..

I can see where he is coming from and havent pushed him on it... sorry I cant be any more help!!

1becomes3 · 26/02/2007 16:55

from what I can remember from being in labour for 3 days, it is like very very very strong period pains, although I am sure that it is very different for everyone.
If you are not sure then head down to see your MW or get yourself off to hospital.
No one will judge you if your wrong they are very used to stuff like that happening.
I have been getting very strong braxton hicks, had some yesterday turned out I had done too much walking and needed a poo
If you unsure get it checked out.
Good luck sweetie.

Eddas · 26/02/2007 16:59

Char, can you get down to the doctors or hospital because I would if it's really worrying you, best to get cheked out imo

claricebean · 26/02/2007 16:59

Ooh, forgot my exciting news...had a scan today. It's normal here to have a scan at 34 weeks. Baby is head down, and back to tummy - hurrah. Placenta and liquid volume all fine. .

34 weeks and 5 days today!

1becomes3 · 26/02/2007 16:59

On your sex thing hellcat, try and do what I do/did get DH to give you a Rub down with some oil.
Mine can't resist that seems he hasn't had it in so long.
I don't think your DH's manhood can actually hurt the baby unless you were giving birth at the time!

1becomes3 · 26/02/2007 17:00

Glad all went well with your scan clarice.

maveta · 26/02/2007 17:03

Aaaargh I can't keep up!

Welcome back GMM! Glad you liked Barcelona and you've justified my mothercare cravings after seeing the baby clothes on offer here Did I tell you lot that I keep seeing baby gros etc with all the poppers down the BACK? How uncomfortable for the poor baby??

SOSPL - the rib pain comes and goes, comes on mostly in the evening and especially during the night. Right now its fine but other days its there all day. Must be to do with the baby's position.

Welcome Hellcat!

Happy Birthday Twinkle!

Phew. Off to check what else has happened...

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 17:05

Yeah I saw loads of those too... there didnt appear to be a huge amount of maternity clothes either... no wonder I didnt see many pregnant ladies... they were probably all stuck in the house with nothing to wear

Hellcat · 26/02/2007 17:16

thanks for the sex tip - I have some nice oil...not sure I want him to notice how big my bottom is though....

I have tried 'making advances' but just end up feeling robbed - hang on, I want sex, so you get it and don't reciprocate!

perhaps I should bribe him with food, 'yes you can have fish and chips but only if you sex me'.

Think he is dreaming about his manhood, he's cute about it though....

I never see any pregnant women anywhere...have been wondering where they all are

maveta · 26/02/2007 17:18

Weeonion - that is weird that it's his brother and he's being so unhelpful especially if he's had kids himself?? Hope you manage to sort it out okay.

Runny - great news re. gifts from your mum - so lovely to know they've obviously been thinking about you and squirreling things away, isn't it?

Nutty - SO annoying about the hubcap. The other day someone stole the logo off the back of our car leaving a grubby mark in the same shape where it used to be. Looks so bloody shit and our wee car is only 2 years old and we take such care of it, or try to. Just so annoying, it's a bloomin' vauxhall FGS so its not like they stole it cos its a trophy logo, they've just done it to be %$%£$&!!

GREAT NEWS! DH caught a news item about real nappies making a comeback in Spain too and explaining all about the benefits. I think maybe he no longer thinks its an insane idea! THANK YOU TELLY!!!

PSML at

a) me and my cats running a home birthing centre.. LOL LOL
b) Hellcat's dh thinking his manhood is so big it will hurt the baby..HAHAHAHA (Well, not that I know, but I would imagine this to be completely impossible even if it is gi-normous) Gotta love 'em, hey?

GMM - fab photo, lovely bump!

For the record I had put on 11kgs at last appt and have one on wednesday, hoping I am not more than 13kgs which would be about 2 stone.. only 32 weeks. Not stressing, not stressing

Hellcat · 26/02/2007 17:18

Maveta, are you married to a Spaniard?

my English dh and I moved to Spain but it drove us up the wall - it was very rural though, lots of goats and no bloody internet so we came back

maveta · 26/02/2007 17:24

Well my dh is a pretty 'excitable' guy so I've not had too much trouble keeping him off me actually LOL but when I have wanted it and looks like it isn't forthcoming, the oil idea is FABULOUS. "Babe could you just put this on my lower back for me..." should work a treat. And always worth a try..

GMM - no the maternity clothes here are APPALLING as confirmed by my SILs. I bought a few things from topshop maternity and they've done me, I couldn't find anything here. But then shopping in general is pretty atrocious here.

Char - sorry I can't help being a first-timer, I'll be the first to freak out at any weird pangs but agree that you should just stay in touch with your mw. You won't be the first or the last to think you're going into labour when you're not.

Still got 4 weeks til my next scan at 36 weeks, will be so nice to see the baby again. Claricebean - is the Streb b test routine here, do you know?

maveta · 26/02/2007 17:26

Hellcat, indeed I am.. and we live in Spain too, as does claricebean. Whereabouts were you?
