Have a wonderful holiday Adventuregame. Is this your babymoon?
I have nice work trousers from JojoMamanBebe but they're woolling up a bit between the legs in the crotch. I also have two pairs of 'yoga pants' from mothercare, which are so soft to wear. I normally always wear active clothing due to my job anyway.
It's actually due to my job being so physically demanding that I'm considering to go on ML from beginning of May at 36 weeks, but taking up the whole of my annual leave in April. I'm hoping that I can actually change my ML between two jobs, but I still haven't researched that. Is there a telephone number of DWP that we can phone to find out what the legislation around that is?

lucieloos · 11/01/2017 21:36

Wow adventure what's the weather like in Gran Canaria? We were thinking of possibly going to canaries. I've tried gap and seraphine for trousers but they seem sold out of a lot of sizes at the moment. Maybe it because of all the sales etc

Adventuregame · 11/01/2017 21:41

Weather is great ! Been sunbathing all day every day ! It does drop cool at night tho ! You need a jumper from about 5/6ish
We're in Melonares which is as south as you can get so best chance of sun. It's lovely x

I got my maternity trousers from red herring in debenhams but only won and washed once so can't comment on quality. Leggings I got from h and m.
Midwife tomorrow for 24w appointment. Hoping she can reassure me that my bump isn't too big if there is such a thing as being too big... people keep making comments and it's making me feel stressed!

growcookeat · 11/01/2017 22:09

Thanks for all the tips on trousers. I will look at gap, monsoon and Seraphine to see if there are any decent sales items left. I don't wear trousers that often, usually leggings and dresses but I seem to have gone a bit mad buying maternity tops a couple of months back and now have nothing to wear them with!

Northernexile · 11/01/2017 22:52

My work trousers are from skinny ones from Gap, they are over bump and very stretchy and comfy and come in lots of colours.

I am likely to be booked in for a cs at 39 weeks, so thinking of finishing up at 36 weeks and I would like a bit of time with DD1 who'll be on easter hols (I think) before it all kicks off. DD2 goes full time to a childminder at the moment. I'll probably send her a couple of short days a week while I'm off to keep her place and to keep her busy with her friends, and it'll give me a bit more time with the baby.

Badgerbird · 12/01/2017 00:00

*sipper I love your os walk idea!! I might nick it as I love walking and plan on doing lots with baby :) it also helps keep me energised and stops my brain from going into full on anxiety mode!
*
blimey nurse thanks for heads up on mothercare deals! I'll have to investigate.

grow check out this website I posted last night for nice maternity clothes and some in sale http://m.vertbaudet.co.uk/Navigation/Produit/001000021?taille=012&fc=6559#IGp4iKvJ72cklhsq.97

charm I hope your stressful time eases up soon :( you can come on here to sound off if it helps?

Thanks 1004, I'm sure I'll feel her soon :)

Oooh adventure grab some rays for me please! Have a wonderful time. I bet bump loves that warmth :)

Autumnsweater · 12/01/2017 06:45

Thanks everyone on the reassurance on movement with the anterior placenta. I felt some quite distinct movement in work yesterday, they were right at the side of my bump (?And the placenta?). But generally not much still. That said every time we've had a scan baby has been moving around like a loon so maybe it's more comfortable this way!!

Autumnsweater · 12/01/2017 06:47

I plan to finish a week before my due date, take the next week as annual leave. I have quite a physical job yet most colleagues have done this - some have ended up finishing earlier for medical reasons but most have been fine. Might book 1-2 days off a week for a couple of weeks before to ease into it.

WishIWasSleeping · 12/01/2017 06:50

Oh I'm wondering about nursery too.
I haven't decided if I'll be going back to work after leave, (I work over 20miles away from home) my first is in a nursery next to work, so she will def have to reduce and probably move closer, if not just for my sanity and total waste of petrol! She loves it at nursery and the staff there are lovely so I feel mean!
Probably going to move her local for a couple of days a week and keep her home the rest and we'll see how it goes. She's currently only at nursery for 3 days a week anyway. So many decisions!
And I haven't decided when I'm leaving for mat leave either! Shock fun fun fun ...!

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 12/01/2017 07:06

Morning all.
We had a meeting with my daughters nursery on Tuesday. She's currently full-time 8-6 Min-Fri due to both myself and husband having full on jobs.
We have asked if there is the possibility of dropping her to 2 days a week after the baby is born.
Like many others on here she loves nursery, so I would feel a bit mean cutting it all together.

They said we need to put a request in writing and then they will put us on a waiting list for reduced hours. They are over subscribed so can be fussy. Looks like we might not get her a part-time place. So will have to rethink plans.

It's a shame as I was hoping to not change too much for her when the baby comes, I'm sure it will be a big enough adjustment as it is!

Very jealous of the sunshine! Enjoy. Xx

Badgerbird · 12/01/2017 09:43

Oh blimey baby had a growth spurt on Mon and bump has popped a bit more making sleep more uncomfortable Sad putting a strain on my back. Am sleeping with pillow between knees/lower leg and under bump to support. Would buy a preggo pillow but still can't decide which one!! They are pretty pricey to buy then realise you can't use. Tried my friends out and don't like it, it goes under your face as well and is too firm...... I feel like princess and the pea!!!!

I know lots of you love your pillow.... should I try a dream genie??

teainbed · 12/01/2017 09:43

If you can afford it it's good to keep some nursery going but weighing up the hassle factor of getting out in the mornings with toddler and newborn and the potential for savings is quite individual. My DSis did that recently and DNephew has been really clingy due to the upheaval and there have been lots of tears in the mornings, I think she wishes she hadn't bothered.

Folk who are buying stuff remember to get a bottle brush if it doesn't come with the bottles or pumps that you're getting.

Nurse15 · 12/01/2017 10:35

I got one from pregnancypillows.net and it's fab and wasn't too pricey!!

EnterWittyUsernameHere · 12/01/2017 10:43

Hullo, I hope everyone is well. I haven't been on here for such a long time so I'm checking in and will go back through the thread for a catch up...especially keen on the advice and recommendations on maternity clothing as my wardrobe is pretty sparse!

Sah1987 · 12/01/2017 11:13

Hello new to the thread - due in May (25th, though will probably be induced before this due to low birth weight of LG last time plus HBP and protein in urine)
Have waited until 21 weeks due to late miscarriage at 12 weeks in 2015,

But now feeling like getting on the happy train and getting excited about nunber 2!

Hope everyone is getting on ok, I've not read through the whole post, just pages 19 and 20, so forgive me if I'm missing any posting etiquette

Happily 21+0 x

CinnamonTwist · 12/01/2017 11:19

Badger I got the massive ~2m long John Lewis' own pillow. It's not too firm and you can twist it any way you want so I can have it different depending on what's uncomfortable/ aching. It's got like mini polystyrene balls in it so it's not wadding that clumps and ends up lumpy or in one place. It almost feels like memory foam... I really like it and am glad I went for that one, but never tried any others to compare!

1004Rise · 12/01/2017 11:22

Sah Welcome and glad you're now on the happy train.... no posting etiquette we just seem to talk a lot!! Rasperry has a beautiful googledoc list that you can add yourself to the link is somewhere up the thread Smile

Badger I love my pillow but I don't think you would because it's quite firm and goes under your head so sounds similar to the one you didn't like Blush

FoxMulder · 12/01/2017 11:26

Ooh Adventure I've been looking at going to Gran Canaria next month. It's just so much work researching holidays. You don't want to end up somewhere crap that is miles from a stoney beach and end up with food poisoning. Equally, you don't want to bankrupt yourself.

CinnamonTwist · 12/01/2017 11:26

Actually may not be JL own, it's this one:
m.johnlewis.com/theraline-original-maternity-and-nursing-pillow-ecru/p/230733273?sku=230733273&s_kwcid=2dx92700016891629883&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=CObD7vy-vNECFUqeGwod7qMHjg&gclsrc=aw.ds
I like that it's flexible to use for what I want afterwards as well, my mum used to have a triangle pillow that she would use to prop he self to sit up in bed so I can use it for that and for nursing in bed etc afterwards. Dream genie is a bit cheaper by the look of it though!

RasperryInAMelon · 12/01/2017 11:27

Wow... I've been mad busy at work this week and have barely had chance to catch up... apologies in advance for the crazy the long old message, I'm working through with the ap on my desk and the webpage open to respond!

Firstly hello and welcome to all the new ladies! I've added you to our lovely spreadsheet, but please feel free to update if needed May 2017 Ladies

So pleased for those who had good scans Smile lullaby, buffy, tantrum, mrspage and anyone else who I've missed...

teaspoon I've also been feeling a bit 'emosh' as DH has been putting it, the slightest thing seems to set me off at the best of times and sometimes I don't even know why I'm crying Blush in regards to NCT Classes, we start ours just after we get back from our holiday mid March at 32 weeks.

Hope you're having a great holiday Adventure

Bright we haven't seen this puppy in a pushchair yet!

Gurtie DH informed me yesterday that there's a chance he might have to be away with work for a few weeks at the start of July, totally bricking it. He works from home these days so I think I'm going to prep myself by asking him to work from his mums so he isn't around all day every day, otherwise it's going to hit me like a ton of bricks!

Autumn Me too Sad - Still no proper kicks here, lots of gurgling, bubbles and what feels like someone doing somersaults at times, but nothing particularly noticeable and generally at night when I do feel anything. Really want DH to start being a part of it too bless him.

Red I think I've decided I'm going to go on holiday April 3rd for 22 days and start Mat Leave 3 weeks before my EDD on May 3rd. I commute 3 hours a day and have to battle with the tubes, I just don't think I can continue up until my due date tbh. Plan is to take 39 weeks all on SMP and then return to work on a staggered basis, I'm thinking 6 weeks at 3 days (Tue-Thu), then 6 weeks at 4 days and then go back to 5 days, but reducing my hours to 9-4:30 hopefully. But that all depends on a flexible working application being accepted...

Just as I started sleeping better, I've been put back on early shifts whilst my boss is away with work for the next 3 weeks, meaning I'm in bed by about 7:30pm to ensure I get enough on and off sleep which is tough. I really hope my physio appointment comes through soon, I'm in agony. Badger my dreamgenii is helping so much, best £45 I've spent that's for sure!

Whooping cough and the dentist this afternoon, going to start making the most of my free dental treatment! Smile

For those who were talking about MatB1 Forms - my midwife team do a drop in session at Mothercare on a Thursday and I stopped by there to collect mine in advance so that's that checked off the list.

Desperately need to order some trousers for work, so will take a nosey at everyone's recommendations over lunch I think!

And finally... the decorator is deffo booked to come in next week, then the carpet fitters the following week - which means we should hopefully have a nursery by the 29th Smile

Brightsmoke · 12/01/2017 11:35

Badger, I slagged off the dream genii a bit after hearing some bad reviews. However, I got one recently, and can honestly say I have never slept better! Its the most comfy thing I have ever slept on! I prefer it the 'wrong way round', but would definitely recommend it!

MrsJW15 · 12/01/2017 11:40

Definitely going to check out the work trousers suggestions. Bump seems to be growing constantly and work clothes are the hardest. I ordered a load of New Look stuff but don't like it. Anyone found any good leggings or tights?

Adventure your holiday sounds great!

Brightsmoke · 12/01/2017 11:46

Rasperry, exciting news about the nursery! Is it going to be 'girly themed' (think your having a girl?) or more neutral? I've made use of the free dental treatment already, had a check up and found out I had a cavity that needed a filling, typical! Re 'puppy' (ha, great lump he is Grin), he may be honoured enough to be put in it after his next bath, he stinks currently, so there no way he's going near it yet! He drinks from puddles when we are out, but has to lay down IN THE PUDDLE to drink rolls eyes, strange creature! So he has to get pond smell off him first.

I was in New Look at the weekend, and saw they had loads of discounted maternity clothing, I got a few tops and a dress for a party which seem good quality, didn't look at the trousers to comment though, but the store had loads of bits cheaper than on tinterweb, so worth popping in if you can!

Badgerbird · 12/01/2017 12:00

Thanks for the pillow recommendations ladies!! My friend is lending me her long sausage one to try out tomoz then if that doesn't work gonna get the dream genie!

Great to eee you over here sah Smile We are 1 day apart, I'm 21 wks tomoz. Happy days indeed.
