BefnalBub · 18/02/2007 10:38

morning LL and Lupins! all very quiet on here - where is everyone hiding? Off to collect my ebayed pram today - very excited. Got the Loola travel system and can't wait to see & touch it...first pram I'll have touched as couldn't face pram shopping! Apparently it is only one of two prams with the carrycot bit approved as a car seat - does anyone know if this is true?

lillaura · 18/02/2007 10:42

havnt got a clue hun i have to find a small car seat so dnt get much choice to search for ones i actually like (two other carseats so struggling for room)

lillaura · 18/02/2007 11:30

its too quiet where is everyone

lilweeblelaura · 18/02/2007 11:34

hellooooooooooooooooo anyone???

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 11:44

Morning Laura The Weeble.

It's always quiet on here on a Sunday morning. I'm only here briefly as my parents and the ILs will be here in a couple of hours and DH has cunningly disappeared to work for the day- lots of housework to do. It's going to be 101 questions about the baby, more parenting advice than Miriam Stoppard and endless rounds of cups of tea. MIL is a social worker so likes to put on her professional hat and talk about attachment theories, my mother trained as a nurse so will be telling me all about horrific births she encountered many moons ago and my Dad and FIL will sit and tell each other jokes and take the mickey out of Mum and MIL.

Did the baby turn? I had forwards rolls taking place at 7am this morning and my stomach was like something out of alien.

lilweeblelaura · 18/02/2007 11:50

your in for a day of it wouldnt dream of getin all our parents in one room!!!!!!!! as for baby think she led sideways!!!!!!! so mite go bk again yet - had my first pokey outey foot last nite so she def in different position!!!!!

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 11:58

I wish I could work out how Mathilda is lying. She was head down, feet under my ribs for a couple of weeks but she's moved around and I can't work out what I'm feeling where. She definitely likes to wriggle over to the left and make my stomach look distinctly lopsided but goodness knows what I'm seeing where.

lilweeblelaura · 18/02/2007 12:03

soooo uncomfortable wen they do that nxt time she does it is the best to try and work out how they are lying becuse thats usualy their back you can feel so whichever end is biggest is head rather than bum - itl be more obvious as time goes by as the odd foot sticks out your side making it look like your bumo is deformed and you have to poke it bk in

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 12:07

I can usually feel her in two places at once- usually low down by my belly button and up by my ribs but I have an anterior placenta so can't feel from the outside what the heck she's up to. I think she's simultaneously head-butting and kicking. Can't wait to see some feet sticking out...

lilweeblelaura · 18/02/2007 12:11

lol that when i assume libby-jaine is jumping on my bladder like a trampoline and using ribs as monkey bars!!!! been getting reallbad cramp all last nite and this morning in calves and sole of foot hate it !!!!!!!!! the novelty starting to wear now i think

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 12:49

Afternoon............

Had the same problem as lillaura, no room for 3 car seats in back of our second car. We have a 7 seater too, but it is shared with Mum and Dad and if they are out or away I need to still transport 3 children. Took the easy option though, didn't trawl the shope for a new car seat to fit just bought a new car instead. Seriously though, I don't think they make car seats at 6inches wide and that was the gap available in our Mazda Demio.
We are now the proud and excited owners of a (2nd hand) Citroen Piccasso, Yey..... It was a nightmare trying to secure a deal and the sales guy probably had a field day. (blimmin English) Going back to the Garage at 3pm to sign and clear all the paperwork.

Happy Sunday all............

thing is with us is my dh is car salesman lol so never know what car he's coming home with hopefully his demo car (the one he gets full time) will be a 7 seater but at the moment its a focus looks like im sitting in the back !!!!! lol

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2007 12:56

Aah we have a handy solution to all of this...

...we don't have a car! In fact, I can't drive. I hope there is a midwife to come out for my homebirth on the day because otherwise I have no idea how I would get to the hospital and how we would transport a baby home.

Bikes and buses all the way chez SOH. Would be nice to have a car, but just couldn't afford to run one.

lillaura · 18/02/2007 13:00

i dont drive i walk and relay on crappy public transport!!!!!! got a buggy trailer for bike but dont fancy lugging nearly four stone of kids round wen im pregnant!!!! dh drives but only for work really - just his family in scotland mine wiltshire and having almost got three kids couldnt really be without one

Frenchsmallfry · 18/02/2007 13:40

I'm afraid it would be impossible not to have a car or be able to drive here. I live in Rural France. Public transport???? Tractor maybe, lol. 12 miles to the nearest shop so could be a problem. I only really used my car in the UK for work, It was lovely being able to push the buggy 10mintes to a big shopping centre, I do miss that.

SOH we didnt drive when i was expecting dd - had to phone a taxi at 4am - lord only knows what i would have done if they had had none available - we got friends to pick me up to go home and used their car seat

Just been to town with dd, she hasnt stopped bloody talking for days, I WANT SOME QUIET!!, roll on preschool tomorrow - do have to do my housekeeping job but at least it will be quiet, my legs ache and I still have to walk to waitrose and get the veg for stew tnite - want my beddddddd

This lo is lying breech, head is between ribs and belly button, feet are across tummy but with good bladder kicking range, have notices when i lay on my right side i wake up with a pain in the ribs, reckon its its head digging in - wonder if he will turn around - other 2 didnt!!

Off to see what I have won on ebay (if anything)

notsolilKel · 18/02/2007 16:28

Afraid as an American I'm car-dependent - but we only have one, which is quite the environmnentally friendly statement where I come from, if you can imagine . We just swapped our former 'cool car for DINKS' and got a Toyota Verso (7 seater) instead - can I get a muted 'yippee'?? Actually it's fab having the space, though I live in fear of bumping pedestrians off the pavements cuz it's so bloody wide comared to our former car. And I think it will fit 3 baby seats in the middle row in case we go for a 3rd. I must be mad...

Befnal let us know how you like your spanking new pram!

AM have you eaten all those KKs yet?? Can't tell you how chuffed I am that there's a counter in Waterloo. I can see me ringing DH at home-time asking him to pick up some creme-filled yummies on his way to the train. Bring on that second stone of weight, please!!

lilLaura lovely pics - stunning wedding photo esp!

lillaura · 18/02/2007 16:29

hi ladies im back after the last couple of hours suffering in pain bugger knows wot was wrongwalked to the shop very very slowly thinking it mite ease back and tummy ache - got worse found myself having to sit in pathment for 5 mins cuz was in soo much pain - wen got bk out ds down for a nap (brley managing at all) had a half hour soak in bath till baby moved position now feeling bit stiff but not in pain - was scared for a bit dh on way home early bless him

Juicylucytoo · 18/02/2007 16:47

In a total dilemma about pushchairs now...

Don't know whether to go for Bugaboo, Loola or Marclaren Techno XT.

They win in different categories:
Weight: Techno XT / Bugaboo
Versatility (faces both ways, takes car seat: Loola / Bugaboo
Price: Maclaren / Loola
Funkinees: Bugaboo

Oh dilemmas, dilemmas. Befnalbub - how is your loola? I await your verdict with baited breath!!

Will probably have to do another test run to make a decision...

lillaura · 18/02/2007 16:53

not sure about certain about certain type but from someone who has had two already and lots and lots and lots of pushchairs , go for the smallest , lightest , smallest when folded pushchair you can get with as big a basket as poss and swivel wheels
