Piano I agree that's a lovely idea! I might do a book for my dad as well (already have one started for mum)
That reminds me of something I saw on fb - on a child's first birthday they got everyone they knew to write them a letter and sealed it in a box. On her 18th birthday she opened them all and so many had passed away - it was like a time capsule!
Today is London day! Confused I'm packing light as I'm travelling my train (first class though!) can't believe how nervous I am when ive travelled parts of the world on my own! Anyone else getting 'nesty' and wanting to be at home? Or maybe I'm just getting lazy haha!

Sunshineface123 · 25/10/2016 09:04

Morning all! Thought I'd share our cot, put the furniture up at the weekend! Really pleased with it all Smile

Sunshine your cats look really pleased too!!!

I am anticipating that happening to me - we've not ordered the cot yet, but almost everything else that has arrived has had to be hidden in the understairs cupboard or shed because my cats will be all over it!

Your cot looks lovely Smile - I need to throw my OH out of the room we're going to be using! Right now it's his office, but not for long... possibly not after this weekend!

kikisdelivery · 25/10/2016 09:12

Sparkles have a nice time on your visit! Take your time and make your bump visible - and don't take any crap off any other commuters!!

I totally get what you're saying. We're meant to be away in a couple of weekend's time with friends and I have thought it might be easier/better/nicer to be at home! I'll still go, of course, but I get what you're saying about wanting to "nest" and be close to home, for sure.

Hope everyone slept better? I think I did. I definitely woke up needing the loo around 4.45, but then I am pretty sure I fell back to sleep after a short period of trying to get comfy again. I certainly feel overall better than yesterday.

twocatsandatoddler · 25/10/2016 09:12

Sunshine I love that your cats are in it, that's exactly what mine did when I built the cot last time (found a similar pic I took)! It looks great.

We're going to IKEA in a couple of weeks to buy our second cot, we need a cot (60x120cm) as opposed to cot bed, with solid ends (to stop baby reaching a plug socket) as that's the only size that will fit in the space we've got in the spare room, and IKEA actually seems the best place to buy one that size. Does anyone have recommendations for nice bedding for a smaller cot? Everywhere does cot beds these days!

Hehe twocats love the matching picture!!

Sunshineface123 · 25/10/2016 09:26

Thanks kiki ! They're so interested in all the baby bits coming into house, hope they like the baby just as much!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 25/10/2016 09:27

SB that is a good idea with the letters, or doing a video or something? Good luck on the train, hopefully you avoided rush hour and have a nice free cuppa in first class? And yes to a better sleep here too kiki though only just left for work, oops...

That's so cute twocats definitely a pic to match your name! I was browsing vertbaudet and they seem to have sheets and bedding in both sizes, quite good prices too. I've ordered a sheet for cot bed, will report back on quality.

Re kicks/punches, I know we were all worrying that we weren't getting enough but I'm 26 wks today and getting them lots, especially in the ribs! Ouch! DH is hoping it's practicing it's tennis backhand in there Smile. Anyone else getting the rib kicks? I'm going to avoid sugar and caffeine today to see if that helps, anyone got any other tips? I'm worried what it's going to be like by week 36! It's all good stuff though.

twocatsandatoddler · 25/10/2016 10:07

I like Mamas and Papas sheets, we have some nice blue spotty ones for DS, but they only seem to do plain white in cot size. JL also has some plain ones which I'm sure are good quality, but ideally I'm after something with a pattern to jazz up the room a bit since it's not really a nursery. I'm probably being a bit silly as the baby won't care one bit about the kind of sheets he sleeps on!

I didn't get as far as looking at cot bedding, but the Moses basket bedding we ordered from Asda is so cute! I'd have a look there

GinIsIn · 25/10/2016 10:50

They have lots like this...

Twocats we've got a cotbed that's quite small-- the mattress is the size of a normal cot mattress. We got bedding that comes with the brand but at the Baby Expo we also bought some colorful cotbed sheets and have just tucked them under the excess. It seems to be find so I wouldn't let the sizes stop you from buying what you like.

Piano I've been kicked lots today as well and all I'm having is water. I stepped on the scales this morning and my weight went up 0.8 kilos overnight! I'm assuming its water weight as I ate a normal amount so I'm trying to see if I stay better hydrated if it will go away Confused

kikisdelivery · 25/10/2016 11:58

I'm also being kicked a lot - but still quite low down, he seems to like that position for sure! Not sure if it's feet, of course, or little punches, but either way I've not really felt any rib hits as yet. I have a little bit of rib discomfort, but again I don't know if it's all to do with stretching, or because of bits of baby finding his way around there!

Our cot is also likely to be much smaller than "usual" as it can start life as a co-sleeper and we're hoping to use it for the first year at least. I'd also thought we could just tuck excess materials out of the way, rather than spending lots on specific, bespoke sheets. I haven't really checked that out properly yet, though, so there might be stuff out there that fits.

twocatsandatoddler · 25/10/2016 12:09

I have a travel cot that's 60x120 and we do use normal cot bed sheets in it and tuck the excess under as best we can, but it does tend to ride up again and DS often wakes up with crease marks on his face! We have a thin folding mattress for that though, it would definitely happen less with a proper mattress. I'll try one of our existing cot bed sheets on it when we buy the new cot and see how it looks.

Hi everyone, just catching up with everything!

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and starting to get a bit of pelvic pain now if I've been walking a lot and I noticed it last night when rolling over in bed. Dreading it getting as bad as last time as I can't just stop doing stuff now I have a toddler to take out and entertain. Bump is just generally feeling heavier now, I read the baby is going to double in size over the next few weeks...
Going to have a try of those exercises, thanks luna

LondonGirl83 · 25/10/2016 16:47

Marjory a couple of exercises I do in pregnancy yoga, pregnancy pilates and at home based on instructions from my physio are:

  1. Cat-- basically you get on all fours, pull you abs in (sort of like pulling the baby into you) arch your upper back and tuck your tail bone under. I have to do this 30 times a day.
  1. Squats- in yoga we squat against the wall and hold it for 30 seconds a few times (so a static squat). In Pilates we just do 20 ordinary squats. My physio has recommended doing wall squats (so going up and down but using the wall for support) until exhaustion.

I always feel loads better after both classes so its definitely helping!

MarjorySunshineDust · 25/10/2016 18:10

Thank you London I will try those!

SBSparkles · 25/10/2016 18:11

Marjory I'm also getting pain in the pelvic area when I'm walking - feels like stitch and is on both sides. I've been doing yoga but doesn't seem to help - maybe it's just one of those things?
Train journey was great! This is the last time I'll do a trip on the train anywhere so enjoyed travelling first class!

Witch91 · 25/10/2016 20:00

Hello All! Been a busy few days!

I went to the baby show on Sunday, and it clarified lots of things for us - we've pretty much decided we are going for the ICandy Raspberry, as we liked that one the most out of the list I put together. We will go and have a look at some more mamas and papas travel systems though - I had the Sola on my list but think we should have a look at some of the others too. My DH fell in love with the MiChair and whilst I think it looks amazing, is it really better then a £25 Ikea high chair?!?!?

Had my 25 week check up with my GP today, all fine with everything, uterus size just right. I've got an annoying cough at the moment which is keeping me up at night in particular. Doc said probably just a bit of viral bronchitis and over the counter medicines are a bit useless so i've just got to live with it.

I think I felt the first movements from the outside yesterday which was exciting! Tried to get DH to feel but of course she stopped moving as soon as he was touching me! Grin

kikisdelivery · 25/10/2016 20:15

Glad all is well Witch Smile my bub also goes quiet when I tell the OH to feel him move! Lo and behold he'll (the bub, not the OH!) go shy and stop moving! Either that or he's going to be as stubborn as his daddy!

GinIsIn · 25/10/2016 20:36

Mine is a bit reluctant for DH too - he's only managed to feel him twice!

I had thought he was being a bit quiet today but when I did the kick counter it only took 4 minutes to get the 10 so I suppose not! I think he's just shifted over so it feels a bit less violent, which is nice!

SBSparkles · 25/10/2016 20:37

Hey! Help! So for the past few hours ive drank quite a lot of water but when I go to pee nothing really comes out! Sorry if this is a bit tmi but I called maternity triage and they were busy so I got a midwife who was really short with me and told me it 'wasn't urgent urgent' and almost hung up on me! ( to be fair she might have been in the middle of something!)
Has anyone else had this or know if it's normal?

SBSparkles · 25/10/2016 20:39

Witch and Kiki the exact same thing happens to us! I thought touch made them kick more but ours goes shy too! Smile

Witch91 · 25/10/2016 20:50

SBSparkles Is it worth ringing 111? It's probably normal, but if it's unusual for you then it's probably worth checking. I rang early on and they were really great.

Carly6971 · 25/10/2016 22:34

sparkles I have whole days like this. I am a huge water guzzler and sometimes feel like I need to pee so bad that I have to literally run to the bathroom and only a trickle comes out. I hadn't given it a second thought. No pain or anything. Just annoying when it happens. I just put it down to being pregnant and will continue to do so :)
