I'll go on mar leave at 36 weeks, can't wait! So tired of working, mainly because I find it hard to keep up motivation knowing I'm leaving soon.

Bigfam what a cute puppy!

Love I know it's hard not to worry, but normally there very on the ball with pregnancies, I'm pretty sure that if it was something serious they would let you know and see you a lot sooner. Hopefully everything will be fine Flowers

Baby will be in our bedroom (where DD will also stay sleeping, so we'll see how it'll all go!) in a cot bed at the highest level, did consider getting a co-sleeper but am worried that if DD comes into our bed and she turns out to be jealous of the baby (could be over thinking this, but hey...) then she may push the baby or something. Would rather the baby is safe in his own space. But planning to have the cot right next to our bed so I can put my hand through the bars and reassure him at any time.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 08/10/2016 17:03

Baby will be going straight into its cot on the top level in our room. Because like others our toddler still co sleeps some times and is very likely to be jealous so don't want her to hurt baby even by accident. Daughters room is small so could not fit it in there.

Nojo82 · 08/10/2016 17:18

My baby is going straight into cot in our room too. Cot set up an all. Just have to try and keep the cat out of it at the min. My older DS's are very excited for the new arrival.

Gosh im so exhausted today.. cant stop falling asleep. Baby is really battering me the last few days. I told DH how much he's kicking on my bladder and how it feels like hes just gona fall out (lol). His reply, sounds like he is gona come early..

Love the puppy bigfam.. we got a pup a few years ago but DS3 was allergic so she went to some friends. She wouldn't have suited with a new baby anyway..

Popskipiekin · 08/10/2016 17:35

We'll see how we go with where the baby sleeps. DS1 was into his own room on day 2, a room directly over the hall from ours with both doors open. I know not recommended but we all got more sleep that way. And he was ebf. He never got on with co sleeping (seriously, I wish he had) and just seemed to sleep better in his own space. Different lay out in our new house so DS2 will be in a cot bed (in a sleepyhead), in with us, leaving DH presumably running for the hills/spare room to get some sleep!

KitKat1985 · 08/10/2016 20:24

Blimey. I've had half a glass of wine this evening (first drink in 6 months) and feel light headed!

OP posts:
veryfriendlylion · 09/10/2016 00:27

kitkat...I did the same and was genuinely worried about driving home as I felt so woozy haha!

Bigfam · 09/10/2016 04:31

I was thinking in regards to drinking after baby arrives, do you plan to have a drink christmas day/boxing day etc? (obviously for those who's babys will be here by then)

I'd really enjoy a nice glass of wine or a beer but obviously after not drinking for so long I'm likely to be a light weight and with a newborn and all the other kids plus dp, don't think it will be a great idea when cooking a huge christmas dinner too. I might have to wait til new year to have a couple. What are you planning to do?

Bumbleclat · 09/10/2016 04:36

bigfam surely you shouldn't be cooking a huge Xmas dinner so soon after your baby is born.
I'm planning to have: a small and delicious glass of red wine andsome Brie and crackers while DH does a roast dinner Grin

I do t think you'll be fully drunk from a glass of wine.

barkingtreefrog · 09/10/2016 04:59

bigfam Other than short periods following each miscarriage when I was still recovering and not able to ttc, I've not been drinking since we started trying to get pregnant five years ago, I can't wait until Xmas when I intend to have a lovely glass of red!!! Only one glass though, which will be mostly soaked up by large amounts of Xmas dinner as I'll hopefully finally have a baby to look after!! Grin

Wide awake since 3am again. This is getting tedious and functioning during the day is getting harder and harder!!!

KitKat1985 · 09/10/2016 06:12

Bigfam I think if you just have one glass slowly with a meal it should be fine. If you are worrying about breastfeeding though (sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick and your not planning on bf) you could always express some milk the day before?

I agree though that you shouldn't be having to do all the cooking after just having had a newborn!

OP posts:
DartmoorDoughnut · 09/10/2016 07:43

As long as you don't get rat arsed - aka 2 possibly 3 glasses for me nowadays! - you can drink whilst bf'ing.

I can't wait for Christmas, we're not having any family over this year so just going to do a roast with some extra sides

SolomanDaisy · 09/10/2016 08:12

I would really like a glass of champagne at Christmas, but I know I might be too tired and it will knock me out! Going to wait and see what the baby's like and if she's a sleeper I'll have a drink. My parents are coming to stay and we might go out for lunch.

loocy411 · 09/10/2016 08:27

Hi ladies, checking in again Smile(changed my name as you can probs tell)

Waters went at 27+6 but little one is holding on in there still, will be induced at 34 weeks if he does stay put although it's looking less and less likely by the day and I completely gushed fluid yesterday and keep getting random tightenings.
Hydrops has almost resolved it's self with the amazing help of the shunts in babies back which is amazing news!

Hope everyone else is well! Xxxx

Lovewatchingrainfall · 09/10/2016 08:48

Oh no loocy that must be scary for you. Have they allowed you home since your waters went or have you stayed in?

Boots baby event starts on the 12th.

Bigfam · 09/10/2016 10:08

Dp cannot cook to save his life, I mean the man can burn beans on toast Grin
I'm not intending to bf, I just meant in terms of having not had any alcohol for so long, I'd probably get bladdered on a glass of wine Confused
The puppy is just like a new born, we were up 4 times last night, all good practice though!!!
I hope you do hang on til your induced loocy but if not your baby will do amazingly well, have you basically been on complete bed rest? You're doing a brilliant job. I know someone who's waters went at 19 weeks, she's now 31 weeks and will be induced at 34 weeks.

Bumplovin · 09/10/2016 12:32

Is everyone else still taking prenatal vitamins im feeling awful as ive forgotten for about 4 weeks I took them religiously at the beginning

SolomanDaisy · 09/10/2016 13:49

BigFam, I am in awe of your energy levels! I'm nervous about having two and you're going to have five and a puppy and cook Xmas dinner!

I'm still taking multivitamins, but I don't remember every day. I don't think it's so important later on.

I've just started taking raspberry leaf tea capsules too, since I'm now 32 weeks. Anyone else taking them?

SolomanDaisy · 09/10/2016 13:50

loocy, hope you make it to 34 weeks but you and the baby have done so well to get this far!

Bigfam · 09/10/2016 14:45

I took them in my last pregnancy and drank the tea (but that was because I liked it 😆) SolomanDaisy
My eldest two who are 7 and 8 aren't too bad, my 5 year old is a complete handful and she's teaching the 2 year old to follow in her footsteps.

lilydaisyrose · 09/10/2016 14:50

Re. raspberry leaf tea - just like my previous pregnancies, I have been following:-

1 x cup a day from 28 weeks
2 x cups a day from 32 weeks
3 x cups a day from 36 weeks

So am on 1 cup a day just now and will increase to 2 cups a day from this Friday (32 weeks).

lilydaisyrose · 09/10/2016 14:51

loocy, what was your previous username? I hope everything goes well for you.

DartmoorDoughnut · 09/10/2016 14:59

DH and I are on a definite tidying streak, garden now done for winter and I'm re-sorting all the baby clothes into age groups. Baby's room not getting sorted until November though so it's all going back into the boxes again!

Nojo82 · 09/10/2016 17:51

lily did the raspberry tea leaf have any benefits in your previous pregnancies? Funny i was reading up on it on other threads and it had mixed reviews. I really want to try it this time round.

Thisisbonkers · 09/10/2016 18:25

What does raspberry leaf tea do?

As regards drinking, would it be wrong to have a small gin in my hospital bag? 😄

I believe very, very little alcohol makes it in to breastmilk (undetectable) unless you are drinking litres of it. So I wouldn't worry about a tipple at Christmas.

StubbleTurnips · 09/10/2016 19:05

I can't wait for a Christmas baileys with my cheeseboard.

I'm going to raspberry leaf tea, but leave it a bit later it's vile
