Good luck today, bella.

My contractions completely fizzled out overnight, so we'll see what happens after my sweep tomorrow.

LucySB123 · 26/12/2016 10:23

All the best bella and looking forward to your news.

So that's Christmas done and dusted and we all managed to avoid a Christmas birthday for the little one. Now New Year's. although somehow in my mind a New Years birthday is not as bad as a Christmas birthday Xmas Hmm

Emz32 · 26/12/2016 10:27

I don't think NY is as bad. It's certainly easier when older as people go out & have parties anyway. I'm just hoping to avoid our wedding anniversary on 30th. Would be an interesting present for 5 years of marriage!

Bella1985 · 26/12/2016 12:39

That was my thinking for future DS/DD's 18th birthday - atleast on boxing day people go out to party, nobody would see them on Christmas Day, only family! It is looking a little unlikely that I will have a boxing day baby either...cervix was closed this morning so had a pessary but 4hrs later and nothing seems to be happening. Consultant came round this morning and said tomorrow's a good day for a birthday so they're not expecting to see me progress very quickly today! Walked the entire hospital, had a snooze and been reading a book so not too bored yet, just feel bad for DH as every single cafe on site is closed as its a bank holiday! And tomorrow will be the same! He's refusing to leave me even though we live 2mins away and he could easily pop home and eat some proper food! May have to deploy MIL to bring him food - I can't be having a grumpy and faint DH when it comes to the final stages! Xmas Wink or any stages come to think of it

Hope you're all doing well and the newborns are being little angels! Halo

Hello everyone!! I'm 38+6 and quite tired now, go to bed wishing tomorrow will be the day then wake up hoping to feel some pains and don't then go about my day waiting for pains to start or to feel a huge gush and nothing ever happens lol. Iv had a few pains over the lst week which get regular then fizzle out. It drives me insane. Did anyone else have this?

Emz32 · 26/12/2016 18:15

Sending positive thoughts to you Bella. Hope your DH has eaten now. Having had weeks of signs, they seem to have stopped now. Have been getting lots of head butts on my cervix this evening. So hard not getting impatient!

Nikki, Iv had twinges, pains, tightenings, losing bits of plug for 2 weeks but it seems to have stopped now. Pleased it isn't a Christmas baby.

stealthbanana · 27/12/2016 13:06

bella hope everything is going really well & your DH is no longer hungry! Grin

FX all the rest of you are hanging in there.

Nothing much to report, we are still in newborn bubble, alternating between bliss and stress/worry that he won't stop crying/we're not looking after him properly etc. About to head out to get his first baby passport pictures done - a big moment for his proud parents Smile

colonolthirteen · 27/12/2016 16:51

Been thinking of you Bella all day.

We called up today about reduced movements (hadn't felt much all morning even though I'd been sitting on my arse all day eating chocolate - felt loads the last three days despite being on my feet constantly as we had family over for Christmas) and they asked us to come in. They monitored heartbeat (all fine) and checked waters (not broken) but now they've admitted me because the movements have still not gone back to normal! Shock I'm feeling a weird combination of shocked and silly because I was totally not expecting to be admitted (they're keeping me in until things either go back to normal or they decide to induce) and silly because part of me thinks this is so unnecessary and I've probably just worn him out with all the Christmas adrenaline! On the other hand the nurse said I was having tightenings that I had no idea I was having and I'm getting quite a bit of period pain. I don't know what to think and I'm so pissed off that I might not be low risk anymore! I'm sorry for the log and rambling post I needed to vent Blush and I totally know I'm being dramatic Blush

I hope everyone else is doing really well Star

colonolthirteen · 27/12/2016 17:46

I've had some blood when I go to the loo so it looks like it's just the start of things. Also had more monitoring, and most importantly more movements so it looks like everything is fine and we'll be leaving soon as soon as the trace is done. So relieved!

SerialReJoiner · 27/12/2016 18:01

Best of luck, colonol!

The sweep was a dud - mw couldn't feel my cervix at all, apparently baby's head has pushed it very far back. Have decided not to consent to another one in a few days or anything; doesn't seem to be much point. dramatic sigh

happylass · 27/12/2016 18:05

Good luck Colonel! Hope all goes well.
Hope you're ok too Bella.
Still nothing to report here other than the random return of morning sickness. Threw up a little bit after breakfast yesterday but was then fine until this morning when I was violently sick. Felt off all day since. Maybe it's a sign Hmm

Bella1985 · 27/12/2016 19:17

Baby Bella was born 27/12/2016 at 10.18am weighing 7lb15oz - team BLUE! Had a bit of a nightmare in the end...pessary didn't work, hormones did and was fully dilated by 5am but contractions weren't regular and then when they became regular there were 6 in every 10 which was causing the baby distress! I then had a high temp which worried them and after 3hrs of pushing the baby wasn't crowning so they decided to send me to theater for a forceps delivery. As it turns out the baby was facing the wrong way (sideways not down) so after attempting to turn him with forceps, they decided he was stuck and their only option was a c section! So I feel like I've had many different types of birthing experiences! Weirdly it was a very calm experience and I spent a large portion of the night pain free as they'd given me the epidural early as the hormone drip normally causes painful and intense contractions so I hardly felt a thing!

He's absolutely gorgeous, I can't stop staring at him. We have 2 names and we're trialling one tonight to see how it feels! So far I've managed to breastfeed him 4 times, one side is definitely easier than the other.

Good luck colonol

Bella yay congratulations! So wonderful. Though your labour sounds epic! Great that you had the epidural in. When can you go home?

I've had a lot more blood so I'm guessing bloody show? So hopefully things will be happening soonish.

Emz32 · 27/12/2016 19:47

Hope you got the photos done Stealth, we didn't get DS a passport until he was 1 as we didn't brave a plane until then. It was actually not as traumatic as we thought it would be, I wish we had travelled more with him as a baby.

Col, I hope you get home soon. Iv heard from quite a few people that their baby had reduced movements just before birth. They get admitted & then it all kicks off. Hope you guys are ok.

Oh Serial, sorry you couldn't have the sweep. Hopefully things will start to happen soon.

Hopefully it is a sign Happy. I went for a long walk today. My cervix has been so achy, I had a lot of tightenings through the night & today but nothing further. Beginning to think that this baby is too comfy!

Massive congratulations Bella. Sounds like your DS wanted to be a little difficult. Amazed you stayed so calm, well done! Hope you find a name. Another boy to add to the list. Sounds like BF is going well. Well done.

SerialReJoiner · 27/12/2016 20:00

Congrats, Bella! My older ds ended up a section as he was belly down, the little monkey! I hope healing and recovery goes well - snuggling your gorgeous boy helps, I'm sure.

I've had some bloody show here as well, but it's probably just due to the attempted sweep.

stealthbanana · 27/12/2016 21:18

Congrats bella! 3 hours of pushing is insane. I managed 45 minutes before they went to the ventouse and then only another 20 before they decided to go to forceps and then c section. You do feel rather like you've tried a bit of everything! Hope you are recovering well from the section (and you've still go the epidural in!) - enjoy baby Bella and newborn snuggles.

Everyone else - FX you are both close now. We're all getting there!

Admarks · 27/12/2016 22:07

Congratulations Bella- great news on the arrival of your little boy! Sounds like you and Stealth both experienced the full suite of delivery options! Hope you are both recovering nicely and get home soon. Great news about the BF - keep at it!

Good luck Col and Serial!

Anyone else showing any signs?

We got discharged on Christmas Eve and it's been a whirlwind of feeding and sleeping. We both keep looking at her in awe - it's just amazing to think that our bodies have created tiny little real people! It look us a couple days to decide on a name - such a big decision.

Bf is not going great tbh, I've had red, cracked and bleeding nipples which evidently culminated in H having brown sick and a visit to a&e. I've been referred to the feeding team and am now on my second feeding plan as I can't face breast feeding at the moment, I tense up and worry that I'm harming her by feeding her blood or starving her. So I'm now expressing topping up with formula whilst I give my nipples a chance to recover. Hanna has tongue tie which will get resolved on Thursday so hopefully i can restart again then!

Emz32 · 28/12/2016 13:52

Oh I'm so uncomfortable. I woke at 6 with painful tightenings & backache. I got up & had a wander. Baby has been quiet today. We have been out & about. I'm barely able to walk as the pain across my back & front is horrible. It feels like bad period pain & is a constant ache. Feel really sick too. I'm really hoping this is it. Confused

Admarks · 28/12/2016 13:59

Ohh, fingers crossed for you Emz!

colonolthirteen · 28/12/2016 14:18

My fingers are crossed for you too emz. I've been getting lots of period pain and back ache this morning but it's coming and going so not sure. I'm right there with you!

Emz32 · 28/12/2016 17:44

Pains are about every 5 minutes. It's like a dull ache that intensifies every 5 minutes. Hoping this is it but don't want another false alarm. Baby hasn't moved a lot but has moved.

SerialReJoiner · 28/12/2016 17:47

Do they happen with regularity regardless of you sitting still or moving around? Would the classic paracetamol and bath make them slow down? Once labour gets going it is pretty much like clockwork in its rhythm.

Emz32 · 28/12/2016 18:30

Yes Serial, they kept going regardless of where I sat or stood. Just as they got pretty painful, they seem to have stopped. I'm surprised as its been happening since 6 this morning. Maybe just gearing up for the real thing again.

SerialReJoiner · 28/12/2016 18:35

Bummer. Could be prodromal labour? Pretty sure that's what happened to me a couple days ago.
