Oh dear! Really annoying when you get conflicting messages! Glad to hear you feel on track now emz

I've noticed a big increase in movement over the last couple of days and some of the kicks have been very strong, I can start to see how this could get uncomfortable as baby gets bigger! Off to a mothercare parent event tonight, no idea what to expect but thought we'd go along as everything is so new to us!

OP posts:
colonolthirteen · 05/10/2016 16:10

How confusing emz! Good that you feel more sorted.

Bella I've been having some epic kicks too, like sometimes they make the rest of me move, like the tail wagging the dog. So weird!

Does anyone use any stretch mark stuff? I've been slathering myself with bio oil once a day (should be twice but quite frankly life's too short to be oiling myself up that often). Have a feeling it's going to be a totally lost cause and it's mainly genetic. Am I on my own or are there other hopefuls out there?

LucySB123 · 05/10/2016 16:25

I had the whooping cough and flu jabs together as well just before my holiday and I wouldn't recommend it (having them together that is). I had flu-like symptoms the first half of my holiday.
colonel yeah i think the stretch mark thing is probably genetics and very quick weight gain. I didn't get any in my first pregnancy and doesn't seem like i'm getting any now even though my weight gain has been slightly above my first. I do mosturise everyday with cocoa butter I have no idea whether it helps.
Baby's movements is why I love being pregnant despite all listed side effects which we have gone into much detail in the previous thread. It's something that only me and baby can feel, a bond that only we share and it's just amazing. :) :)

colonolthirteen · 05/10/2016 17:56

Oh crikey I'm booked in to have them together too, I don't fancy flu like symptoms. I hope it didn't get in the way of your holiday too much. I think I'll just risk it though because finding time to get to all these appointments is really hard.

I just got in to find a letter about a health visitor visit as well - anyone else had this yet?

Bella1985 · 05/10/2016 18:37

Nothing about a health visitor yet for me. And I'm not bothered with the stretch marks, I moisturise when I remember to but a few around my belly button have appeared already adding to ones I had on my hips and thighs from puberty so will probably have quite a lot more by the end of this pregnancy.

lucy I agree there are loads of amazing things about pregnancy (I'm starting to worry about missing my bump already - I don't want to go back to just being podgy!!) My hair has been awsome, I can't remember the last time it went greasy and feeling the kicks are amazing. Feeling the baby move is just so special! Can't quite believe my body is doing all of this instinctively...! Smile

OP posts:
Emz32 · 06/10/2016 07:50

I'm not having any adverse effects yet. Just a really sore left arm & slightly sore right arm. Makes side sleeping even more fun!!

I think stretch marks are genetic but I'm also using bio oil once/twice a day. My skin sometimes feels really tight & sore so I slap it on. Didn't get any with DS & hoping I'm lucky again. My mum didn't have any from 3 children so hoping I'm the same. I love the movements but occasionally they do make me feel a bit queasy when "she" somersaults.

Bella1985 · 07/10/2016 12:03

GTT test done- time went much faster than expected! The drink reminded me of a cheap alcopop I used to drink at uni (minus the alcohol obvs!) they'll ring tomorrow if there's a problem or a letter will come next week if all fine.

Can't believe I'm officialy in the third trimester! (Waves at fellow due date buddies!)

Hope you're all doing well. X

OP posts:
colonolthirteen · 07/10/2016 12:55

Glad to hear it went well Bella! Fingers crossed the results will be absolutely fine.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

stealthbanana · 07/10/2016 15:56

lucy agree with you about feeling the kicks being the best bit. My little one has been a bit quieter over the last few days which I'm quietly trying not to freak out about; I am hoping he is growing and therefore has less room to tumble turn! Scan on Tuesday so hopefully all is well.

Am currently sat in the doctors having just necked my lucozade and waiting for an hour so I can do the blood test for the mini GTT. Fx for all of us it is fine. Baby started going nuts the second the sugar hit my bloodstream so am pretty sure my placenta isn't hogging it or anything Grin

I tried to get the flu and whooping cough jabs done together but my gp don't offer them in the same time slot Confused - stupid system. So am just going to boots for my flu jab on Monday and then won't have whooping cough until November.

No stretch marks here yet (other than my existing ones on hips from puberty) but I am still carrying v small. Am sure I'll get them when I start to blow up Grin

Hope everyone has fun weekend plans. Can't believe we're all hitting the third trimester - I'm starting to believe this might actually happen!

Admarks · 07/10/2016 18:33

Hope you get good results for the GTT tests Bella and stealth!

I tried to do the same either my flu and whooping cough stealth, my doctor didn't know if both could be administered on the same day Hmm so thought it best for me to come back. Had flu jab on my 25 week appointment and going to get whooping cough tomorrow (I'm fairly sure it's fine to do both on the same day).

Nothing about home visits here Col. I think it's quite normal though - I think my midwifes are a little disorganised so I'll probably get a call then day before telling me they're coming round the next day!

The stretch marks have got me!! I was quietly confident I would be OK as my mum said she didn't get any. Can't believe I got them at 27 weeks! I've been slathering on bio oil once a day (sometimes twice if I remember). I've been in a right grump about it (plus they are so itchy!!).

I promise to compile the stats list this weekend!

Have a good weekend all!

Interesting to see the breakdown of boy (3)/girl (0)/ yellow (4) in our little group. I wonder how it will be come January!!

Hope you have all had a good weekend? I've had a nice restful one whilst DH has been DIYing! I do seem to have picked up a cold, so trying (and failing) to shift it using honey and lemon.... It's not working!

Bella1985 · 09/10/2016 19:54

Thanks for the list admarks but sending hugs for your cold. It looks like some of us in team yellow must be having girls, it would be quite unusual (and against the odds) if we all end up with boys!

It looks like we've lost a couple of posters since moving to thread 2 (happylass, kione, lunaweaselton and magpiecursedtea to name a few) so hope they're all well and can find this new thread.

I've just caught up with the december thread and they're discussing (post birth) xmas drinks they're looking forward to enjoying - just out of curiosity, how much alcohol have you had during pregnancy so far? I had a small glass of red wine on friday night with our meal to celebrate our 12 yr anniversary, it was my first glass of wine with a meal since bfp and it was lovely. Thinking ahead to christmas and it would be nice to have another with the meal but I feel rather guilty about it...Blush

stealthbanana · 09/10/2016 20:16

Evening all! Wow yes the stats must mean some of you yellows will turn pink Grin Either that or there is something in the water.

bella I've been having a small glass of red wine 1-2 times a week since around 14 weeks. I'm pretty relaxed about the impact of drinking small amounts - can't find any evidence it does any harm, and I've really been enjoying red wine (have gone off all other types of alcohol) with dinner. Am hoping my taste for champagne (which I tried at a wedding and made me vomit instantly!) comes back post birth but other than that am not too fussed as haven't really felt like I've been denying myself much throughout this pregnancy, alcohol-wise. Now, rare steak and pate on the other hand...can't WAIT to get stuck in! Grin

stealthbanana · 09/10/2016 20:17

Ps admarks sorry to hear about your cold. Eucalyptus oil in a steam diffuser thingy might help?

Emz32 · 09/10/2016 21:53

Hello all. We do seem to have an even smaller group now! All 6 of us at my anti-natal group had boys. 2 have had a 2nd both girls... We will have to see what happens. So exciting.

Spent the weekend with DH getting our sons big boy room decorated & cleared & his new flat pack bed put together. Nearly there thankfully & he's so excited to get in there. I can then start nesting for the baby. 28 weeks tomorrow!

I have boycotted alcohol since before I got pregnant. Last drink was my birthday in Feb. Although I did have a few sips of champagne a couple of times on holiday. The only reason Iv been strict is DS was prem & the advise is that it possibly increases the risk, so I decided not too. I did have the odd glass in first pregnancy after 20 weeks.

Firsttimer16 · 10/10/2016 07:20

I've had the odd half glass here or there however I can't fully enjoy it, and can't wait for that first glass of (mostly) guilt free red!

I had my 28 week appointment last week, all good and measuring 28cm. Next couple of appointments are with the GP which I don't like as much, as I feel you're just unwanted admin for them, and have always felt so rushed compared to Midwifes.

weve now got most things sorted for the baby (all second hand thanks to a lot of very useful and very generous friends!) but now I'm starting to think about what I'll need for hospital. I've got a very busy October then suddenly it will be almost December before we know it!!

One of th girls in the Dec thread had her waters break pre 28 weeks, baby still in there, and will hopefully stay for a bit longer, but has made me want to get all my work into order this week just so I won't be leaving a sh*t storm if anything happens early!!!!

I've been quite ill this week (tummy wise) and have felt really sick for no reason I can make out - I escaped with no morning sickness somehow in first trimester, would be karma if it appeared in the 3rd! Hope everyone else is feeling well!

LucySB123 · 10/10/2016 09:55

admarks sorry about your cold, I'm on my second cough since being pregnant so I emphatise with your situation. Thanks for putting the list together - yes we are a small group, almost like a virtual NCT.. Smile So many due on 30/12 - it'll be interesting to see when baby comes!

I've haven't had any alcohol except a glass of mimosa in my second trimester. It hasn't been hard as DH is a teetotal. We've been TTC for more than 1yr and DD came early-ish so I didn't want to increase the risk of any issues - even when I know research is out on alcohol. Do you think it'll be ott to pack a Prosecco in my hospital bag? Wink

I had my bloods taken this morning for GTT and 28 wk. Have a growth scan and then a consultant appointment this Wednesday. I think baby has moved and facing inwards as the movements I'm feeling are towards my insides and downwards...

Where has time gone? I don't believe we are in our third tri, I read on weekly emails from Mothercare and What to Expect that baby now has 95% chance of survival even if born now which takes off a bit of the anxiety. That said, I really hope this baby cooks a little longer than its sister!

Have a good Monday everyone.

colonolthirteen · 10/10/2016 12:02

Hello all!

Hope you're all ok - sorry to hear about the cold, sickness and coughs admarks, firsttimer and lucysb. I have had a very slight sniffle for the last few weeks but so far it hasn't developed. Also had the first nose bleed I've had since probably primary school on Friday night! Not sure what that was about.

I have totally abstained from alcohol since I found out I was pregnant (except for one little taste of sake in Japan in July just because I was dying to know what it was like). So I am seriously looking forward to a bottle glass of red after the delivery - although I don't know if it's quite going to work out like that what with breast feeding etc!
The other thing I've really missed is coffee. I gave that up too, I have one or two cups of green tea and then I just do water or herbal tea for the rest of the day (I know it's a got a bit of caffeine but hopefully not too much), but also not sure about how much I can really get away with whilst breastfeeding - my mum said she used to drink tea all day and wondered why I never slept until she worked out it was because I was getting the caffeine through breast feeding.

colonolthirteen · 10/10/2016 12:03

PS I also had my glucose test this morning. Drove to work afterwards stuffing my face with white chocolate. Blush

Admarks · 10/10/2016 18:17

I've abstained from alcohol too, but I've never really been much of a drinker and so haven't actually consciously removed it from my diet. I can only think of one time when I wanted a drink - one of the really hot days at after work 'drinks' - I was close to ordering a pimms but didn't due to the potential for disapproving looks from colleagues. Tea on the other hand.....

Lucy if you pack Prosecco in your hospital bag, I'll take a cool box with cheese and pate!

With the list I wasn't sure how far back I should go so decided on just this thread as I had all your details. Like Bella has said there are other recent posters, it's a shame if they have moved on...

It's sure I'm having a boy despite not finding out so may skew the results towards blue even more if I'm right!

Hope all the GTT test results come back good and all the 28week appointments go well! I've got mine tomorrow so hoping baby is growing. Do they start doing the personalised growth chart at the 28w appointment?

Thanks for all the well wishes - I feel a bit pathetic with my cold. I thought I was quite resistant as haven't had one for years, even when OH is 'dying'. My immune system must be more reduced than I thought, plus my commute can't have helped (why can't people cover their mouths when then cough and sneeze on the train Angry). Ill try and get some eucalyptus oil stealth to ease it on a bit!

Admarks · 10/10/2016 18:21

Oh I saw that on the December thread too First, it made it all very real that the babies were delivered at 29weeks and are doing well.

I dread to think what will happen at work if I go off in the next couple of week - no maternity cover or handover notes. I have a vision of all my work for the last 6 years going to pot. (Mental note to chase up HR tomorrow about maternity cover - my job has still not been advertised!

happylass · 10/10/2016 20:10

Evening Ladies and thanks for the lovely new thread Bella. Apologies for the silence, work has been manic and I just don't know where the past couple of weeks have gone! They are interviewing for my maternity cover tomorrow which is making everything seem very real!
Hope those of you with colds make a speedy recovery. I've had the sniffles and a scratchy throat on and off for the past few weeks but seem to have warded off anything more severe with the use of hot water, honey, lemon and cloves. Went for quite a long walk yesterday and was in agony with back/hips by the end of it. Had to send DH back to get the car as I couldn't go on any further! I forget how much my body has changed!
I've not had any alcohol since before we did the successful IVF cycle, so probably on holidays at the beginning of April. Can't say it's really bothered me too much. I've not been able to give up caffeine completely though, still have the odd coffee here and there.

Had a scan and consultant appointment last week. All well and absolutely no sign of the mystery fibroid/thickened blood vessels. They're still keeping me consultant led with scans every 4 weeks though. They don't routinely offer the GTT here unless you fit the high risk criteria. I dont but they did find glucose in my urine last week so they said if it happens again they'll test me. From what I've Googled glucose in the urine is pretty common in pregnant women and usually nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the list Admarks. I'll just add myself on if that's ok.....

Just realised that the list is in EDD order and I've completely messed it up Blush. Baby brain!!

Emz32 · 10/10/2016 21:50

Hello Happy. Pleased you are still here in the group. Our numbers have dwindled. Glad your scan went well. Hope everyone with colds feels better soon. My DS arrived home very snuffly & snotty so no doubt I will be suffering shortly. They do like to share their germs!

I think I'm having a girl but that's just a feeling. Prosecco in the hospital bag sounds like a great idea!! How early was your DD Lucy?
