Congratulations, Admarks :) I struggled with bf'ing my 3yo dd due to tongue tie, so I can empathise with your situation. I hope you both can get the hang of it asap.

happylass, if my sweep doesn't work I'll be off to hospital for an induction I think. My patience ran out quite some time ago...! Grin

stealthbanana · 24/12/2016 09:35

Congratulations admarks! Hope you are recovering well & enjoying the newborn snuggles. With the bf do make sure you are getting the midwives to help & advise - and don't be scared to use a formula top up if you need it just whilst you get yourself established.

To the rest of you - keep soldiering on! Hoping you all make it to the other side of Christmas.

AFM, we got home last night. So good to finally be out of hospital. DS was a little unsettled through the night but we had our night nurse there to help. She left at 7am - he's been asleep ever since! So I am sitting downstairs enjoying some breakfast that I can eat with 2 hands. We're on our own this weekend (night nurse off duty/got her own Christmas plans!) so let's see how that goes. TBH I feel good about it - he's such a little gem I love hanging out with him during the night even at the expense of my sleep

Bella1985 · 24/12/2016 10:03

Congratulations admarks glad to hear about the safe arrival of your little girl. Hope things get a little easier soon with the feeding.

Lovely to hear things are going well with you too stealth I can't wait to have newborn cuddles!

Nothing to report here. My backache seems to have eased a little and nothing further developed overnight. I noticed I'm leaking a bit more from one boob (I think I know which one will be the first one I try my first feed with!!) but that one leaked a little a while ago so it's hardly a sign that things are happening fast. It's a step in the right direction though!

We have 38 hours to get through to the other side of Christmas...surely we can all make it Xmas Smile

Congratulations admarks. Agree with emz and serial. I had mastitis twice and got referred to a lactation consultant before establishing BF with DD. From what I've heard from other women - bf is a learnt skill and it's so very rare to hear of babies who just "know" how to Bf.
it feels like I'm so very overdue already even through technically I'm not. I walked a mile yesterday to the gym and swam, had curry for dinner and raspberry leaf tea but nothing. At this stage I'm happy to have baby whether it's Christmas or not Xmas Confused.

Emz32 · 24/12/2016 10:38

Oh Lucy I hope you manage to ease the discomfort. It's so hard.

Bella, 38 hours doesn't sound as long. I feel I'm counting those hours down. Going to try & enjoy it but I do feel on edge. Apparently anxiety can stop the baby coming so I'm holding onto that.

Stealth, lovely to hear you are home. It's amazing the things you appreciate when you have a baby. I'm looking forward to being able to put socks & shoes on comfortably. Off to in laws this afternoon, I won't be allowed to lift a finger which will be nice.

So is that one little boy & one little girl on this thread? So exciting!! Seems like ages ago since we were talking 12 week scans!!!

Thanks, Bella! We are expecting a boy but it's no big deal. Edd is accurate. :)

I've been having erratic tightenings this morning but it's probably all practice. I'm considering going for a walk in a bit.

stealthbanana · 24/12/2016 13:48

Ooh fingers crossed serial

for stats, baby stealth was 8lb exactly ❤️

My waters just broke...Xmas Confused Full on gush...very mild pains though...so waiting it out for 30mins or so before calling the midwives...a Christmas baby it is then...! Xmas Smile

OP posts:
SerialReJoiner · 25/12/2016 03:55

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Best of luck, Bella!

Am trying not to feel jealous as I am awake before the dc on Christmas morning with heartburn! Xmas Grin

Bella1985 · 25/12/2016 05:14

I've been in to the midwife led unit for them to confirm that my waters have broken, which they have, bp and temp is fine and baby's hb is fine too so as I'm not having contractions I'm back home now trying to rest. How is someone supposed to sleep with all this adrenaline?! I have to go back in at 7am boxing day if nothing changes today...

Merry Christmas!! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
Emz32 · 25/12/2016 05:55

Wow Bella, so exciting! With DS my waters broke & it took a few hours for contractions to start. Hope you manage some rest. I'm wide awake, think I'm in the habit of waking at 5am now. Another baby on the way!

colonolthirteen · 25/12/2016 07:19

Oh my goodness Bella good luck! How exciting for you, whatever happens today or tomorrow or whenever all the best and what an incredible present.

LucySB123 · 25/12/2016 07:36

bella good luck! How exciting and what a story to tell eh? I had PROM too but unlike emz my labour did jot progress and DD was delivered via induction 48h later. So you may still have your Christmas.. Xmas Wink
Merry Christmas everyone

Bella1985 · 25/12/2016 11:49

Whenever babyBella arrives this will certainly be a story to tell! I had to drive myself to the hospital as everyone had been drinking!! Luckily I was only leaking water and not in any pain so could concentrate on driving safely and calmly, I would have had to book a taxi otherwise. The excitement around this is crazy as my whole family are here and DHs family are ringing to wish us a merry christmas so we've obviously told them... I've had a rest this morning so taking it easy now whilst DH and DM cook lunch! Still only mild contractions so still quite comfortable! I reckon it could be a boxing day baby..! Xmas Smile

OP posts:
SerialReJoiner · 25/12/2016 12:40

At least you know either way baby will be in arms in about 24 hours or so! That's fantastic. :)

Emz32 · 25/12/2016 18:33

Been thinking of you all day Bella. I had woken nervously worrying this baby might show today but hopefully not. I'm glad it's not just me who couldn't be driven to hospital by DH! He'd been boozing when my waters went with DS. He was very embarrassed. Hope everyone else is ok.

SerialReJoiner · 25/12/2016 18:37

Looks like I may be in early labour. Am getting regular tightenings whether I move around or sit down, so we shall see! Everything is very mild right now, which is probably a good thing until the dc are in bed.

happylass · 25/12/2016 20:11

Oh Bella how exciting!! Will be checking for updates - you too Serial.
Nothing to report here. Fear I may be the last past the post!!

Bella1985 · 25/12/2016 20:20

Nothing to report here I'm afraid. I'm still leaking water, I had one big contraction where lots of water came but then no follow up contractions so I'm only having one every ten minutes or so and most are bearable. I have 11 hours before I have to return to the labour ward to get things moving. I had a nap this afternoon and it was lovely!!

Hope things go well for you serial

OP posts:
colonolthirteen · 25/12/2016 20:41

Good to hear everyone is doing well, I hope your contractions remain bareable Bella. And serial good luck! Happy - you're not the only one, mine seems to be going NOWHERE.

SerialReJoiner · 25/12/2016 22:09

Still very slow. They keep coming but no real buildup. Looks like he's waiting for boxing day!

Bella1985 · 26/12/2016 06:04

My contractions have built up in intensity but not in frequency throughout the night so I'm having a bath at home to deal with the pain before I head in by 7am for them to induce me. They've only been coming every 15mins so I've weirdly managed to sleep inbetween each one, I hope I've conserved enough energy for whatever is ahead today!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day with your families. How are things serial?

I really enjoyed my Christmas, I've probably managed to completely change my DSisters boyfriends' idea of childbirth- they were both braced for the worst before entering the house (imagining me screaming the house down and swearing at everyone tv labour style!) but the pain was so mild I could talk through most I wouldn't have been able to talk through the most recent ones! so they were perplexed for most of the day at how differently things were going for me!

Happy boxing day to you all!
