I think it was my waters. Having a lot of period type cramps. Had a few hours sleep but awake again. Pain in my lower back & the pressure is intense on my cervix. Lots of stabbing pains! I wonder if this baby has finally decided it would like out.

colonolthirteen · 20/12/2016 06:49

Emz good luck! We're suddenly having a flurry of babies!

Emz32 · 20/12/2016 06:59

Iv snoozed on & off. Now I'm up the lower back pain is strong. It's migrated round to the front. Just waiting for DS to wake & ill ring the hospital. Got a plan in place for him. Also don't want to hit rush hour to hospital if I can help it. Not having contractions exactly. My tummy is rock solid permenantly & it's just pain radiating out my back & lower stomach. Hospital may not want to see me yet.

Admarks · 20/12/2016 07:44

Good luck Emz. I'll be thinking of you!

happylass · 20/12/2016 08:31

Good luck Emz!!

Bella1985 · 20/12/2016 08:40

Good luck emz - hope this is it and it won't last too long once you get in to hospital.

Emz32 · 20/12/2016 09:58

Thanks guys. Almost at the hospital. Everything seems to have slowed down or stopped. Feel like I'm wasting everyone's time Confused

Bella1985 · 20/12/2016 10:06

Nope, not wasting anyone's time. You have a baby inside you and your waters may have broken so the least they can do is check that baby is fine. I think that is perfectly reasonable. Flowers

Definitely, it's not something to be taken lightly! I hope you're not waiting long in limbo.

Emz32 · 20/12/2016 11:29

Thank you. Feel so teary. Been checked over in MLU (midwife was lovely). She doesn't think it was waters, she says there's a lot of discharge which is normal as you get geared up to labour. Cervix still closed. She said 2nd babies can push against cervix & then Bob back out. On our way home. Feel a bit disappointed but relieved I have an answer.

Bella1985 · 20/12/2016 12:44

It must be disappointing but very reassuring to have had a professional opinion. You know now that there's no risk of infection and can relax about it without panicking that you're slowly leaking waters. It is definitely best to have been checked, better to be safe than sorry. This 2nd baby is a little naughty one bobbing on your cervix so much! Have some rest today if you can CakeBrew

Thank you Bella. I just feel a bit silly really. It's such a big thing getting DS cared for & getting to the hospital that it's a real anti-climax. It'll happen when it's supposed to but it was so painful lastnight. It felt like it was going to fall out my cervix hurt so much. Oh well. Home & back to enjoying the afternoon with DS

colonolthirteen · 20/12/2016 13:45

Anyone with the same symptoms I'm sure would have done the same thing, try not to be too hard on yourself. Hope you manage to enjoy your afternoon.

stealthbanana · 20/12/2016 14:06

Gosh emz you were absolutely right to go in and get checked out. Fingers crossed you don't have long to wait. And don't be scared to take paracetamol if you need it - the midwives here say 1g (2 tablets) at a time, every 4 hours.

admarks you must be getting excited now. Enjoy that last meal tomorrow night!

Emz32 · 20/12/2016 15:07

Thanks guys. Helps so much to have your support. Looking forward to bed tonight!

Oh, Admarks, hope you do enjoy your meal. Hope everyone else is ok.

Admarks · 20/12/2016 19:14

No need to feel silly Emz, you did what everyone one of us would do and best to get a professional opinion as to what was going on! Sounds like your body is gearing up though, hope baby gives some definite signs when it's ready to meet you.

Stealth - how are you and baby? How does it feel knowing that he is finally here?

Looking forward to the meal tomorrow, but starting to get nervous about Thursday and what the new 'normal' will be for our new family. Occupying myself with DIY (I repainted the kitchen yesterday and today!!) My body is not showing any signs and I think if baby wasn't breech, we wouldn't be meeting him/her till January. I'm still waiting for Braxton hicks and my nesting instinct to kick in (I'm creating more mess at the moment!!)

happylass · 20/12/2016 20:08

Emz I agree with everyone else. Much better safe than sorry.
Stealth hope you're doing ok and are recovering from the section.

I've been really out of sorts today. Very teary, zero appetite and haven't been bothered doing anything at all. I've just stayed at home in my PJs which is so unlike me. Wonder if it's a sign Hmm. Had some cramping and back pain earlier but seems to have stopped again now.
Admarks it must be very strange knowing your are definitely going to have your baby here in a few days! Enjoy the meal. We'all be thinking of you.

Emz32 · 20/12/2016 20:49

I am finally getting into bed having fallen asleep on the sofa watching to with DH. Think the 3 hours sleep lastnight has finally caught up with me! I'm feeling much better now, thank you all of you. I think that's completely normal to feel Admarks. It's a big chance but you do just adjust. The thought of it is far scarier.

Oh Happy, sounds very promising! Keep us posted. Hopefully you will feel more yourself tomorrow & baby might be getting ready to meet you. I'm seeing midwife tomorrow. Feels a little pointless as everything was checked today but never mind.

Bella1985 · 20/12/2016 20:55

Wow admarks - you repainted the kitchen?! I don't know where you get the energy from! I've slept quite well over the last couple of nights (I've gone to the spare bedroom and the soft matrass seems to be very kind to my hips!) yet I've just woken up after a nap on the sofa. And today's activity included having a bath and having a late lunch and catch up with a friend...! Not sure why I'm so tired all of a sudden! Xmas Hmm

Enjoy your meal out tomorrow. I've spent the whole afternoon speculating with my friend what my baby will be like and which of my traits it will have...you're so close to meeting yours now!!

Hope things are going well stealth

Hi all, and many congrats on the arrival stealth that's so exciting!!

And good luck to admarks!

I have been reading this daily but sorry have been radio silence for weeks!

I also have a breech baby. Had a super unhelpful midwife who wouldn't listen to me and told me "look love, I have done this before, I think I know a breech baby when I feel one" - and refused to send me for scan at 36 week. I knew he had been breech only a week or so before after a private scan, so I booked another private one as I just knew he hadn't turned - the movements were all in exactly the same place and sure enough he's still firmly breech! So eventually got another official scan with NHS and got on the hospitals 'records' as being breech, but by that time they were fully booked for c-sections this week (when I'm 39 weeks) so booked into have one now the day before my due date on the 28th. Hoping he doesn't come naturally before then (doesn't feel like it as he's still up under my boobs!) as would rather avoid a rushed emergency op. Either way I'm glad to at least know where I'm at, as was quite stressed when the midwife was so rude but I was certain she was wrong, that I'd be left for hours in labour and have a surprise breech vaginal labour no one was prepared for!
The upside of unengaged breech is that I'm not really peeing in the night and sleeping through the night which is delightful!

Hope you're all feeling ok and aren't getting too frustrated, the end is in sight!!!!

Bella1985 · 20/12/2016 22:15

Well that sounds like an awful experience for you firsttimer - what a rubbish midwife. Very exciting that you too have an end date now though, and will be meeting your baby in 2016! Fingers crossed nothing happens naturally before then, but atleast the nhs have aknowledged now that you have a breech baby and you know you won't be left in labour for hours before they realise he's breech.

Nice to hear from you and glad things are going well so far very jealous of the sleep you're getting!! Xmas Smile

Emz32 · 21/12/2016 08:50

That's really rubbish Firsttimer. I found midwives quite disrespectful & rude of me first time round. They think FTM don't know what they are doing. Being told I wasn't in labour because I wouldn't be coping so well (said from a passing student midwife). Just as well you knew your body Firsttimer.

I'm so jealous of anyone sleeping well!!! Got to sleep ok lastnight but up again at 4 with cramps & backache. Could not get comfy. After a little walk I finally managed to get comfy in bed & fell asleep about 5.30. Feel more tired today though. Off to see midwife shortly. Bit of a waste of time but will see what she says

happylass · 21/12/2016 10:45

Morning ladies. How are we all today??
For the first time in forever I slept right through until 6:45am. Never thought I'd be so pleased at waking up at that time! Feel fantastic today. Was in Tescos by 7:15 and now in full on nesting mode.
Good luck with the midwife Emz. Hope you get some kind of plan in place.

Emz32 · 21/12/2016 10:50

Happy sounds like that baby is definitely getting ready.

Iv seen the midwife. She said baby is deeply engaged, she doesn't think Iv got long & predicted Christmas Day Confused. Iv booked sweep for 4th Jan as instructed but she said she'll see me before then at home with baby. I'm now on operation eviction. Iv told my family I will be hanging upside down on Christmas Day.Grin

SerialReJoiner · 21/12/2016 11:02

Can I join at this late stage? :) I was on a previous thread under a different nn, but lost the password and had to rejoin MN (hence my new nn!).

Am 39+1 now, and feeling ok overall. Had a good midwife appointment this morning and talked about an action plan for going overdue and induction. This is a vbac, so induction with a scar carries certain risks that I'm not happy with. We are going to plan for an elc if baby doesn't show up on his own. I thought we'd be planning for a 42week induction, but it will be 41 weeks instead. I'm excited to have a plan in place and know for sure that by the 4th of Jan or so I will definitely have baby in arms.

Here's hoping for a peaceful Christmas for us all!
