Sorry to hear that Imogen Flowers

I was the sickest I have ever ever been yesterday. I woke up with a migraine. I couldn't take my normal medication and just had paracetamol. It was horrendous. I vomited from opening my eyes right through to about 3am. I ate 3 slices of toast all day and sipped on lucozade that my DH bought me. It was awful. I'm worried I've hurt the baby. This may be tmi but I've been constipated for a couple weeks. Today has been the opposite! Confused does that not mean my hormone levels are dropping? My scan isn't till Friday.

Streaky17 · 15/10/2016 14:31

Ahh just got back from maternity clothes shopping. One pair naff jeans, one set leggings and a nice ish shirt. How can it be so difficult?
Once everyone knows I am wearing leggings and a tent!

Great news talulah

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/10/2016 14:43

So sorry you're feeling so poorly lala. Sounds grim and I hope you're feeling better soon x

I've been looking online streaky but not got anything yet. Are under bump jeans better at the start?

lucieloos · 15/10/2016 15:04

Is everyone needing maternity clothes already? I feel a little bloated but don't think I have a bump or anything. I thought that was more around 15 weeks?

Tallulah, great news on the scan!

Lala, sorry to hear you've not been feeling great. I hope all goes well with your scan on Friday. I don't know about hormone levels sorry.

I bought some sea bands today to see if they help with the nausea at all as I've seen a few people wearing them before.

Flingmoo · 15/10/2016 15:20

I don't think anyone technically needs maternity clothes at this stage, as you say it's really just bloating etc. But it's definitely more comfortable to wear clothes that are looser around the belly, especially when you're feeling nauseous. I've been sticking with stretchy jeggings, at home I tend to wear jim jams all day if I can get away with it Blush I did crack out my old maternity jeans from my first pregnancy yesterday, feels like being reunited with an old best friend Grin They were baggy but soooo comfy. I honestly wish I could wear maternity jeans my whole life.

I recommend Primark for maternity jeans. They don't do a full maternity clothes range, just jeans, but they're really good! Also I recommend normal cheap Primark leggings and their cheap vest tops, not maternity just buy in a few sizes up. I'm 8-10 normally and I'd get size 14 Primark vests and leggings when pregnant Smile So comfy and if you wear the vests under clothes and tucked into your jeans it keeps your bump warm Grin

lucieloos · 15/10/2016 15:24

Ohh mamushka you do make maternity clothes sound very appealing Grin I'm still in normal clothes at the moment but think in a couple of weeks time I might start checking some of this stuff out. Can't beat being nice and comfy and cosy!

Flingmoo · 15/10/2016 15:48

It's funny how I can't wait to get into maternity clothes, it was the same with my first but by the time I was 8 months pregnant I was soooooo envious of all the non-pregnant ladies at work swanning around in their beautiful slim summery dresses without having a massive great belly 'ruining' the silhouette! Having said that I can't wait to have a proper obvious bump despite all the discomfort that comes with it.

lucieloos · 15/10/2016 15:55

It's my first and it's taken many attempts at ivf to get to this stage. I'm still afraid it might all go wrong but I will literally be over the moon to have a bump and any discomfort that goes with it Smile

FoxMulder · 15/10/2016 16:16

Just got my scan date - 2nd Nov. The week after I get back from the holiday with my family. No way will I be able to keep it a secret. Don't know whether to fork out for a private scan before hand.

Flingmoo · 15/10/2016 16:43

2nd Nov is really soon Fox, mine isn't until the 15th. I wish it'd come around sooner. I could afford the private scan as it's only £75 but I'm just waiting for the normal one despite being super paranoid at the moment... I was really ill with a fever a couple of weeks ago and I'm worried this could've affected the fetal development. But DH pointed out that having a scan sooner isn't going to make any difference to the baby even if it would put my mind at rest.

I guess it depends how close you are with your family. If something went wrong at this stage would you want to tell them anyway? Or would you rather them not know? I have told my mum already as she'd be the first person I'd call if something bad happened. But I haven't told my dad (they're separated) or other family members as I didn't want too many people to know until I've had the first scan.

My in laws visited last weekend and they kind of guessed I think, as they asked why I couldn't eat a certain food, but we didn't actually confirm it, we sort of raised an eyebrow, made a crap excuse, blushed and changed the subject, they didn't mention anything else.

FoxMulder · 15/10/2016 16:55

My parents and ILs know because they have been looking after me! But I wouldn't be comfortable with telling my niece and nephew that I'm having a baby to then say "Oh I'm not actually" a week later! I get on well with my sister but we're not really close.

LorrieJ · 15/10/2016 18:15

I'm so sorry to hear your news Imogen. Be kind to yourself x

LorrieJ · 15/10/2016 18:26

We haven't told anyone yet. Or I haven't. DH nervously asked this morning if my best friend knew. He was out last night with a close friend, so I suspect he's blurted it out.
I'm really not keen on letting people know just yet. We told people at 10 wks last time as it was Christmas. I'm a bit more nervous due to the age factor this time. I'd stay quiet until the 20 week scan if that wasn't such a ridiculous idea. I'll be massive by then!

MissMooMoo · 15/10/2016 18:43

Another afternoon of throwing up. I haven't even washed or dressed today Blush can't believe this has started at 9 weeks.

mightymouse76 · 15/10/2016 19:19

One for those still feeling rancid and nauseous...
I know everyone's different but I've been struggling to eat and have found my usual love of cooking impossible along with lots of you, but just had a bit of a breakthrough that didn't involve potato waffles.

Made a really basic veg broth type soup, no frying of veg (bleurgh!) just simmering things like onion, potato, celery, sweetcorn, and a bit of other random veg (green beans, squash) from the freezer in lots of veg bouillon (salt love), with a hunk of ginger root chucked in for good luck.
My 76year old 'war-baby' dad makes something similar and keeps it on the hob for about ten days, reheating and chucking in new leftovers every day. Can't say I'll be chancing his methods but I'm pretty excited that I've found something I can eat that wasn't from a packet...
I hope everyone is feeling ok tonight!

MissMooMoo · 15/10/2016 19:42

mighty that sounds really nice and I may try to make that tomorrow.
I made DH and I a quick pasta dish with some brocoli (no horrible smells!) and I was able to eat a small bowl and its helped. I know pregnacy sickness is worse on a empty stomach but I find eating such a chore atm.

Sonnet18 · 15/10/2016 19:52

I had a bowl of Frosties for dinner! Felt a lot better after it!

EsmesBees · 15/10/2016 21:37

Feeling better today than I have in weeks. Hoping it's just my body adjusting and not a bad sign.

Badgerbird · 16/10/2016 00:28

That's great talulah Smile

missy did you only just start getting sick at 9 weeks? Hope it eases up for you.

Just out of interest have any of you suffering sickness tried acupuncture? I know it's not everyone's cuppa but I've heard some people get good results :)

MissMooMoo · 16/10/2016 09:05

badger I have had nasua from 5-6 weeks but actually throwing up just started at 9 weeks Sad

Badgerbird · 16/10/2016 10:37

Ooooh yuck missy Sad and thanks for the heads up! I'm 8.3 and been feeling sick but not actually been sick yet.... I really hope you have a better day today! You too lala, sounds like you've had a really rough ride last few days :( how you feeling today so far?

Had my friends baby shower/ pamper party yesterday, it was brilliant and got to spend lots of time snuggling 2 gorgeous happy babies Smile I've told a handful of close friends as they know about last 2 MMC and that we are trying, also I'd tell them if it went wrong again. Not drinking prosecco yesterday was a bit of a giveaway anyway! My mum & sis know as we're very close & my inlaws know as they were driving us somewhere when I got an important call from dr re blood results so couldn't hide it Confused

esme try and hang in there and remember that symptoms come and go. Hoping you feel a little bit off today just for reassurance
.
Hope everyone's snuggled up somewhere warm and dry today. Brew

FoxMulder · 16/10/2016 12:03

I caved and booked a private scan for next weekend.

I've been feeling a bit better in the last few days. I even left the house (for the first time in 3 weeks) yesterday! And I almost made it the whole day without being sick. That walk up the stairs to bed always sets me off.

mightymouse76 · 16/10/2016 12:17

Really glad to hear you're getting a bit of respite fox. Good luck with the scan

Flingmoo · 16/10/2016 13:09

Anyone else really sensitive to bad smells at the moment? Even my lovely toddler smells foul to me at the moment Sad

Had my first big craving yesterday... for a 'sticky willy' (iced bun) Grin I made DH go and fetch me a pack, yum it was so good!

lucieloos · 16/10/2016 13:19

I have food aversions as I can't stand the thought of potatoes at the moment or anything fried. I've also just got dh to get me an iced doughnut!
