Good luck for the scan and house scandi!

sarahhh1984 · 10/10/2016 09:19

marmite, I'm in the same boat. I definitely have a bump even though I'm not quite 12 weeks! I think it's everything else in my abdomen getting pushed up as my uterus gets bigger. It sounds silly but I can feel the difference, my lower abdomen is hard where I think it's baby, but my upper abdomen is a bit squishy so I think that's all the other bits starting to get squashed upwards. I have IBS so I usually have a bit of a bloated belly so don't think anyone has really noticed so far except DH and my mum - but they're actually looking!

I say wear what's comfortable. If you feel better in loose fit stuff then wear it, if not embrace the bump - whatever makes you feel good.

I've been struggling a little because I've always been self-conscious about my tummy due to the IBS bloating, so now it's getting bigger I have days where I just feel fat and unattractive to be honest (as vain as it sounds). I think I just need to remind myself that my body changing is actually a beautiful thing and for a wonderful reason. Once I tell more people I'll probably be fine about it. Think the trying to hide it is giving me a complex!

Celen · 10/10/2016 09:33

Sarahhh I definitely had a period of several weeks where I just looked podgy, thankfully it does pass!

ChatEnOeuf · 10/10/2016 09:41

I can definitely feel a real bump appearing. There's a lot of guts and air around it, though, making it feel bigger than it is. Hair-bobble hack works well, but so many of my work trousers are clips. Going to lift the mat wear out of the loft and see just how much of it is going to be wildly unsuitable for a winter bump!

Good luck Scandi hope the move goes smoothly.

gemsbok · 10/10/2016 10:58

Chat - I have the same problem, just been through my maternity clothes of shorts and summer skirts!

I'm starting to embrace the bump this week with tighter clothes. I've been I maternity jeans for weeks!

RaRa25 · 10/10/2016 11:46

Scan went well. Put me forward a week so due 16th now. So relieved.
scandi an exciting day for you!

Niks2026 · 10/10/2016 12:10

Beautiful scan rara. Don't have time to catch up now with all the posts but will have a scroll through this evening.

I finally have my booking in appointment today at 11weeks! Do they do bloods at this point, u can't remember? Still no scan date, hopefully soon.

Theknittinggorilla · 10/10/2016 12:38

Congrats on the scan Rara and good luck scandi.
Niks I had bloods done at booking appointment.
My scan is finally approaching, it's been a looong wait but is on Thursday. Anyone else still waiting?

MrsBac83 · 10/10/2016 12:43

All of a sudden this morning my work trousers don't fit!! My favourite pair were ok and they had a top button so was planning on using the old hair bobble trick as long a I could but on laundering them at the weekend I discovered a hole has worn through where my big fat thighs rub together so I had to bin them!! Angry So my other pair I put on this morning and they're too tight - and a clip fastening!! I've just had to do the zip up and test out the belly bands I bought a few weeks ago. Anyone tried them yet? Seem good so far. At least if zip does come down its hidden under band!! Blush
Anyone recommend where to get decent work maternity trousers? Also anywhere that actually stocks them in store?? All seems to be online. (I'm in Essex)

jpeg28 · 10/10/2016 14:29

Rara that's such a lovely scan photo!!

MrsBac I have really struggled to find work trousers. I managed to get some navy chinos in H&M but they are not very smart. I think asos have some good ones but it's so annoying it's all online!

I'm really annoyed as my boss went on my work Ipad today and went on my emails. It's obviously a work Ipad but he then made a comment about seeing mumsnet emails... it's linked to my two email accounts. First of all, I have no idea why he's on it anyway when he has his own, and second of all don't go on my emails!! I've now deleted all accounts etc from it and told him I don't want it anymore! Possibly slightly over reacted!

ScandiManny · 10/10/2016 14:59

Crazy day so only just had a chance to pop on. Still in the waiting room at antenatal clinic!

Anyway, we have the keys and ITS A BOY! I'm completely outnumbered 4-1 Grin

MyGreenSofa · 10/10/2016 15:29

Congrats Scandi on being team blue! I'm sure his big brothers are very pleased?! And congrats also on getting your keys, big day for you!

MrsBac83 · 10/10/2016 15:36

Ooh i'll check out Asos, thanks jpeg
I know, so annoying it's only online! I can probably get away with black jeans at work and have seen a few pairs of those but would rather have proper trousers.

Wow big day scandi Congrats.

Anyone else finding out what they're having? No spoilers for us.

Niks2026 · 10/10/2016 15:40

Congrats scandi. Can't believe Wer all getting the stage where we find out the sex of the baby Smile DH and I have decided to not find out this time. We have 2 girls and we don't mind either way so going to wait until he or she arrives in 6 months time....seems forever away! We didn't know with our first DD, we did with our 2nd but we decided it was more exciting not knowing. Temptation is soooo hard though! It's so easy for the sonography to just say boy or girl right there and then. Going to try and stay strong!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 10/10/2016 16:14

I think we're probably going to find out the sex when he or she is born, although having no memory of the birth of DS there's a bit of me that think's it'd be nice to find out when I was at least lucid!

Congrats scandi what an exciting day!

DS is still ill - don't think he's going to be well enough for Childminder's tomorrow so DH and I will have to do the whose-job-is-most-important thing tonight. Juggling work and sick children is the crappiest bit of parenting. I'm still tired and being sick - walked DS to GP in sling/carrier (which is v rarely used these days) as he was so clingy and upset - he weighs so much these days and was completely shattered! At least we've managed to nap together this afternoon.

RaRa25 · 10/10/2016 16:15

Congratulations scandi!
I haven't fit into my jeans or work trousers in weeks! I have converted to shift dresses and leggings.

SharkBastard · 10/10/2016 16:20

Congrats on the house, Scandi and yay a boy! So lovely :)

Strubo · 10/10/2016 16:46

Congratulations on the house and the boy scandi
We are definitely going to find out, DD wants a girl and DS wants a boy so I would rather deal with the inevitable disappointment before I have a newborn! It's DD's birthday tomorrow so need to get organised for that tonight!

finova · 10/10/2016 17:01

Congrats Scandi! A pack of boys! Was it a gender scan? Can't believe how fast time is passing now.
Congrats on house too!

finova · 10/10/2016 17:10

Ignore me, just read back properly and seen it was a sexing scan!

MrsRhubarb · 10/10/2016 17:18

Eee, congrats Scandi! How exciting. I'm so impressed you know so soon, I won't find out until the 21st November (if he/she is cooperative!)

Such a busy few days here, and tiredness is really slaying me. If only I didn't have to fit in work too, I think I could pull it off. DD is 3 tomorrow, 3! Where has that time gone? Cake is in the oven, will finish it off tomorrow - she loves baking, so is happy to help.

choccybiscuit · 10/10/2016 17:58

Congrats to RaRa and scandi on the scans!
niksI also would love a surprise, I'm just such an impatient person, I'll probably just ask sonographer to tell me. I have two girls and would love another equally as much as a boy. I just like to be organised for the big day, so just practical reason really. My husbands not fussed either way.

TopKittyKat · 10/10/2016 18:11

Congrats on the scans RaRa and Scandi
Wow - you are outnumbered Scandi Your own little five a side team in the making Wink

I'm with you ladies on feeling like you just look porkie. I can't wait for a 'proper' bump.

jpeg28 · 10/10/2016 18:14

A boy! So exciting Scandi and congrats on getting the keys to the new house. So much excitement for one day!!

We aren't finding out, it's our first and I just really want the surprise. I don't mind either way, OH would love a boy tho and everyone I have shown my scan to said is a boy so we will see.

Im exhausted today even tho I went to bed at half 7 last night!! I really hope the tiredness starts subsiding...

MumiTravels · 10/10/2016 20:18

Lovely scans ladies Smile

Mine is tomorrow morning. DS is going to nursery for a few hours as he's not allowed in the scan room.

I'm absolutley washed out. Still run down, sore throat, cystitis, had a reaction to the handsoap at work and have a rash and cracks between my fingers. My immune system is saying no thankyou this week.

Bath and bed for me.
