Hi everyone! Have just caught up with the end of thread#2 and the start of this one. So glad early scans went well for all of those with bleeding.

This first trimester is anything but a breeze. I was off all week last week from work due to constant sickness, couldn't even keep water down and it was just horrendous. hospital prescribed anti sickness tabs that pretty much knock you out in like 15 mins! I spent 2 days pretty much sleeping, not even having a clue what was going on. Back at work today but the constant feeling of nausea is back. I actually can't deal with it. I'm yet to find something that helps (I thought lemonade was doing the trick but the effects have worn off!)

Sorry to put a downer on the thread but at 10+1 I'm so tired, sick, hungry, hormonal, sad and angry. blah :( I really envy people who get through the first trimester without any problems. I'm thankful for being pregnant after a MC but just feel so down all the time. Anyone else feel like this?!

finova · 05/09/2016 14:20

Hi

Just checking in as back from hols, and back to work tomorrow.
Sorry for all those suffering with sickness.
I haven't had any, just tired and slightly sore and fuller boobs.
Really wanted an early scan but am having the serenity test and scan so am saving all my money for that...just want to be sure I am actually pregnant but my serenity is £395 so no way I can justify an early scan too. Anyway that's booked for 24th and I'm booking in tomorrow!!
How are you all choosing hospitals?

LotsaTuddles · 05/09/2016 14:46

Finova closest wins here because I have babies quickly Shock I go from nothing to needing to push very fast.

With DS my waters broke and an hour and a half later I was in theatre having an emcs (breech and COMING)

DD my waters broke and an hour and a half later she was here

sarahhh1984 · 05/09/2016 14:50

Sorry to hear so many others have MIL/DM problems. It can be such a tricky situation. I had a good cry about mine last night but feel a bit better now. DH says we just have to "manage" her and make sure she's not always getting her own way. At least I have him on side.

Naranciata, my symptoms have been coming and going something rotten so they may well return with a vengeance in 24 hours or so. Fx for you.

Good luck today, hummingbird, hope it all goes well for you.

Sorry you're feeling grotty, marmite. Fx you start to pick up soon.

I had my booking appointment today. My midwife is lovely. I'm low risk so will have midwife-led care with just my scans at the hospital so all looking good. I have my 12w scan booked in for 12 October and then my next midwife appointment will be on 7 November. Scan is only just over 5 weeks away which doesn't feel like a very long time now. I have quite a lot on between now and then too, so hopefully the time will go quickly!

As my early scan put me at 5 days behind the dates predicted by my LMP, my midwife has, for now, plumped for somewhere in the middle and says I'm about 6+4 and has gone with those dates to organise the scan. So the scan is bob on 12w based on her dates but I'm guessing it'll find I'm actually something like 11+3. You never know though... I'll change my estimated due date on here when I've had my scan. Can't be bothered jumping up and down the list again.

Has anyone else's midwife really pushed home births? I just said that as it was my first pregnancy I felt better about being in the midwife-led unit and she was fine with that, but I got the impression she was quite keen on getting people to choose home...

finova · 05/09/2016 14:57

I'm 4 miles from both hospitals so really hard to choose.
One has 3 birth pools other 2.
One has better parking.
Just phoned the one with 2 pools and she seemed to suggest home birth might be better.....I've had a home birth but preferred my hospital birth-argh what to do!!

MyGreenSofa · 05/09/2016 15:13

Sarah - interesting that she should push home birth for you first birth. I don't think they're supposed to do that - a low risk pregnancy doesn't guarantee a low risk birth and first births tend to be looooong for a lot of women. I think it makes much more sense to recommend one after a straightforward birth has happened but then nothing is guaranteed.

I just go for the closest hospital. I think the maternity care is supposed to be decent but there is good and bad everywhere. I had an EMCS which I found extremely traumatic with DD so would like to be able to have a VBAC but I'm not sure on that either. The only way to definitely avoid another EMCS is to have an ELCS and I have been told it's a much better experience.

Hummingbird - glad interview went well! Nothing wrong with a little jiggle!

Puggleface · 05/09/2016 15:20

Hello! just caught up - great news about scans over the weekend! well done everyone!
Sorry about all the Crazy MIL/PIL's my DP's parents passed away a long time ago now so i never got to meet them. He does have one set of Grandparents left who are shall we say hard work! Not overly supportive or sensative when DS died and then got very over excited when DSIL fell pregnant so i've taken a big step back from them.
I was off all last week and back to work today - have been feeling so sick all day. I've just managed to eat my lunch at 3pm! I think having to actually do stuff makes symptoms worse!
So i don't have my booking in appointment till i'm 10 weeks but i know my GP has done all my referrals. I''ll be consultant led. At the moment I'm hoping for a VBAC, have any of you lovely ladies had one? I emailed the consultant who delievered DS this morning in hope that I can under his care again! fingers crossed!

CastleFeck · 05/09/2016 15:22

Skittles sorry you feel dreadful. I do most of the time too. I wake up and count the hours down to bedtime. If you're 10 weeks you're going to start feeling better any time.

sarahhh1984 · 05/09/2016 15:24

Haha! Hummingbird, that sounds like something I would have done. I get very familiar very quickly with people too!

MyGreenSofa, I know, I thought it was odd. Can only think it's down to location maybe. I live just 10 minutes from the hospital so maybe they think it would be OK. I'm not interested in a home birth for this baby at least. Want as natural a birth as possible but want all the drugs and doctors nearby just in case!

SharkBastard · 05/09/2016 15:38

I'd love a home birth but I'll be consultant led due to BMI and DD being a big baby. DD was born via EMCS and I'm going to try and push for a VBAC but I'm sure they'll push for an ELCS :(

I'll be having the baby in the same hospital as DD as it's closest and has had a brand new maternity wing put in

hummingbird100 · 05/09/2016 16:09

Well - I got the job! I'm delighted but really not sure how it'll pan out, they seemed a lovely team but how/when do I casually mention I'm pregnant? It's 3 days a week, permanent. I'm currently 6w 4days, I applied before knowing I was pregnant and have had rubbish luck with job applications recently, and I hadn't expected an interview!

I'll be at the major hospital in my city, very positive experience with lovely staff there in 2014 with my son although an awful labour - I had sudden severe pre-eclampsia at 40+2, was induced then an emergency delivery with forceps (9lb 2oz Shock my poor vag) so will be under a consultant again, if all goes well with this pregnancy.

Number4OnTheWay · 05/09/2016 16:09

I'll be in a consultant led hospital too. I would love a home birth as my labour's are pretty quick (31 minutes for DS) but as I hemmoraged with my first, tested positive for strep B also with my first, had a very large baby (10lb 9oz) for my second and was induced with my 3rd for also having a large baby (although he was a diddy 9lb) They won't let me. I'm too high risk.

Celen · 05/09/2016 16:15

Interesting you say that Shark.

When I had my booking in apt with my MW, told her my previous birth history (ds ended up being an EMCS after complications) and I said I'd be pushing for an ELCS - she said they'd probably still request I attend a VBAC clinic as that was their preference.

hummingbird100 · 05/09/2016 16:15

Wow number4 I thought my 9lb 2oz-er was big!

Celen · 05/09/2016 16:16

Well done hummingbird, great going!! StarSmile

OP posts:
SharkBastard · 05/09/2016 16:17

I would love it if the MW suggested that, I will see what she says on Wednesday!

Number4OnTheWay · 05/09/2016 16:40

Well done hummingbird!! No advice on the when to tell them though.

gemsbok · 05/09/2016 17:07

I live in the middle of nowhere with only 1 hospital anywhere near, it's 35 mins drive away, so it'll be that one.

Shark - my mw told me the hospital would try and persuade me to go for a vbac after my emcs, but I'm adamant I want an elcs and there's no way anyone will change my mind!

I've got my scan date :-) 22 September, when I'll be 12 + 5. I had to call and chase and she just arranged it on the phone - wish I'd called a week ago! No idea how I'll hide it for another 2.5 weeks, I'm huge already!

I chased and called

gemsbok · 05/09/2016 17:08

Nice one hummingbird!

jobrum · 05/09/2016 17:27

Yay hummingbird! Must have been that jiggle!

Celen · 05/09/2016 17:44

So jealous gemsbok, I keep checking the post in excitement for mine!

OP posts:
ChatEnOeuf · 05/09/2016 17:49

Congrats, Hummingbird! You could legitimately have only found out in a couple of weeks. No guilt.

I'll be consultant led too, for many reasons! My nearest hospital has a team I trust and a big NICU - they looked after me with DD, then DS was born overseas. I also labour quickly, but if all goes to plan, this one will be an early induction. I could never countenance a home birth.

naranciata · 05/09/2016 17:50

Thanks everyone for words of reassurance. Have had a nice swim in the sea and a nap and had apologised to DH for being such a bitch on holiday. Still really worried. Honestly if I were to feel nauseous or a horrible stretching pain right now it would make my day.

Prive120 · 05/09/2016 18:42

Congratulations hummingbird
And to everyone else for their scans this weekend!

Today I got to see baby prive's heartbeat. The most beautiful thing ever !! I had to have an early scan after some spotting on Saturday. Looks like it was just a UTI which is a relief.

I'll be consultant lead care too. Long story but 1st appointment is already confirmed and got my letter for my 12 wk scan on the 30th Sept when I'll hopefully be 11+6. Hope everyone else's dates come through soon

hummingbird100 · 05/09/2016 19:44

Congratulations prive on your lovely scan! Grin

The scary thing is I start my new job on Monday 19th Sep. In the afternoon. In the morning I have my 9 week scan as reassurance (my last little bean died around then) so that will be a pretty stressful day, just hope my scan goes well and I can start my new job with happy thoughts!
