Although I'm graduating over to the post-natal board, I thought I'd start a new thread as I just noticed we're almost at capacity on the old thread.

So got to my induction and the ward is understaffed today so things have been going slow. Got here at 4, monitored for ages and finally had an examination at about 6. Turns out I'm already 4-5cm dilated and cervix is totally gone so no need for induction. They gave me a sweep to try and get things going but probably will have to break my waters. They're shocked I've not started having contractions yet. I've only been having strong period pains! Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come Grin

Laineypopps · 31/08/2016 20:17

Amazing Lou!!! From my waters popping to having Ruaridh was less than 2 hours so I am praying for a speedy one for you!

CheeseandGherkins · 31/08/2016 20:49

Lou that's great news, maybe you'll have a baby tonight? Fingers crossed for you that it all kicks off soon

Lou2711 · 31/08/2016 21:20

Fingers crossed for a September birth. Means I get an extra year of her being at home than I thought I would Grin

LotsOfDots · 31/08/2016 21:23

Good news Lou! Hope all goes well.

plimsolls · 31/08/2016 22:05

lou don't worry- they're planning to relax the rules around admissions so you should have more flexibility to choose which year your child starts if they are born any time between April & Aug 31st.

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 03:01

Been awake for 2 hours now with tightenings and aching in my lower back and under my bump. Just can't get back too sleep as I am quite uncomfortable. Feel so tired t

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 03:02

Posted too soon!

Feel so tired and a bit sick because I was awake so much last night as well. Just want it to either start up properly or fuck off so I can get some sleep! DH sleeping merrily away beside me doesn't help Hmm

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 07:26

So I eventually dropped back off to sleep just before 4am, to be woken about 5.30am with a strong pain/contraction, and I was awake then for the day. So tired Sad

Anyone have any idea why I have been having these tightenings and crampy pains through the night the last 2 nights? So fed up.

Lou2711 · 01/09/2016 12:02

Annie Sophia W was born at 9:05 this morning after ten mins of pushing. Birth went as well as expected. All my labour pains were in my back, none in the front. Had gas and air & pethedine. She is amazing, and weighs 7 pounds 12. Will write a more detailed story when I'm not this dead from sleep deprivation. Sending love to all those who have it left to do, it's amazing how the pain goes when you have your little one in your armsGrin

plimsolls · 01/09/2016 12:12

Congrats lou. I absolutely love the name Annie. Sounds like a great birth too!

Ooh, congratulations Lou..Smile

I'm still following this thread but not had much chance / brain power left to post for a while..

Greys I don't know much about natural labour as I was induced for DS1 and had a C-section with DS2, but I'd guess the pains you're having are just your body preparing for labour. It might be worth checking with your midwife though since they've been going on a while now.
Good luck to you and anyone else still waiting Smile

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 14:05

Congrats lou!

I am seeing my midwife at 2.30 so hopefully she will do a sweep!

LotsOfDots · 01/09/2016 14:53

Congratulations Lou! Annie is a lovely name and sounds like you had a good birth - hope you get some rest today.

Fx for a sweep getting everything going Greys!

Who else is left here in the waiting room?

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 15:36

So had my sweep, but she has also booked me I for induction for 1 week today. She will give me another sweep Monday if I don't go into labour over the weekend. Fx for me! Really don't want induction would love a water birth this time.

Laineypopps · 01/09/2016 17:25

Greys really hope that your sweep starts off the finale for you! Please don't feel you have to accept that induction means end of water birth chance. I refused induction due to wanting hypno and water birth and my consultant negotiated that if they could break my waters and then u had a good 30 min trace then they would let me go midwifery led. Don't be scared to challenge them if it's what you want.

Congratulations lou!! Delighted for you on the arrival of Annie.

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 17:27

Thanks lainey that's good to know

quitecrunchy · 01/09/2016 19:05

Yay, congratulations Lou! That sounds like a great birth in the end despite not being what you'd planned. Annie's a lovely name, hope you're both well.

Fingers crossed for the sweep working Addicted, sounds like you've got a good chance of going with all the signs you've been having. What was your bishop's score? I managed to get a sweep done today too - unlike the 1st attempt she was actually able to get in to sweep so that's progress in itself I suppose!

AddictedtoGreys · 01/09/2016 19:34

quite never heard of a bishops score? Confusedband midwife never mentioned it. Been having period pains this afternoon but nothing more really

quitecrunchy · 01/09/2016 22:00

Addicted they use it to judge how favourable your cervix is based on a things like how soft it is, how dilated etc. There's a bit in my notes for it but they maybe don't use it everywhere, I'm guessing that totting up the scores probably doesn't tell a midwife anything she didn't already know from having a good feel!

quitecrunchy · 02/09/2016 08:56

Contractions for the first time last night (yay!) but they stopped after a couple of hours (boo!). You still starting and stopping Addicted?

Laineypopps · 02/09/2016 09:42

I have a feeling there will be babies born today! Sending pushing vibes to all!! 👍🏻😝

AddictedtoGreys · 02/09/2016 10:10

quite yes still having random pains here and there. I was thinking last night maybe they are pains just because of the sweep not contractions, but would they still be happening now 20 hours later? These pains are building to a peak and holding for a while then tapering off like contractions. Never had a sweep before so don't know Confused
