Although I'm graduating over to the post-natal board, I thought I'd start a new thread as I just noticed we're almost at capacity on the old thread.

HOOORAY Lainey! Great news and it sounds like you had a nice smooth birth after all your waiting. Hope you're getting lots of lovely cuddles now.

Congratulations lainey! Well done you, nice to hear hypnobirthing worked for you. Definitely found the breathing easier to manage with it ( after I had a word with myself oh and my husband telling me to shush during labour, that was funny...!)
Congratulations to all the other new mummies out there and I hope it's not to long for the remaining!Flowers

AddictedtoGreys · 25/08/2016 07:40

Congratulations lainey!

quitecrunchy · 25/08/2016 07:52

Woohoo, congratulations Lainey! That was quick work in the end after all that waiting Shock. Glad you're both doing well. Have you settled on a name yet?

CheeseandGherkins · 25/08/2016 07:53

Lainey congratulations! Sounds like a lovely birth

Shanster · 25/08/2016 14:05

Congrats lainey!! Baby Shanster #3 was born yesterday via c-section. When I got to the hospital, the scan showed he was head down but not engaged, but my OB said not to induce as his lie was so unstable he'd likely move out of position. 45 minutes later when I went down to theatre, he was lying transverse again, so I think the c-section was the right choice. He was 8lb 1oz, and pretty long at 22 inches. He's been feeding well and very alert today. The c-section and recovery have certainly been worse than my 2 vaginal births, but I'm up and walking today so hopefully over the worst of it.

CheeseandGherkins · 25/08/2016 14:12

Shanster congratulations! Keep on top of the pain meds, day 2/3 was worse for me and then got better. I was very stiff. Moving about as much as poss and keeping straight upright helped. I learned from my first section! Do take things easy too though. I know that's a contradiction but try to do both

LotsOfDots · 25/08/2016 14:22

Congratulations shanster is he as wriggly now he's born as he was beforehand?

AddictedtoGreys · 25/08/2016 16:01

Congratulations shanster!

Still nothing happening here. Apart from the phone calls from the same people EVERY DAY asking me if anything is happening. Angry

More diarrhoea today, but that's nothing new!! I'm sure my body is laughing at me saying "ha ha look she thinks it might be labour starting again!!" Hmm

quitecrunchy · 25/08/2016 17:18

Congratulations shanster! Good job they made the call to go straight to CS for your little wriggler. Glad he's doing well and you're up and about - take it gentle if you can!

Laineypopps · 25/08/2016 21:36

We are home and we have a name! Ruaridh Wyatt Surname.

Here is the full story! At 41+6, on 24th Aug at 7.07pm we welcomed our chunky monkey, Ruaridh Wyatt Surname, weighing in at 9lb 4oz.

Had a sweep on Monday which made me surge all day but nothing came of it. Had an appointment at Outpatients on Wednesday to discuss plan of action as I was reluctant to be induced. Consultant agreed to let me have my midwife led birth after a good trace if I needed induced as it was only my waters to break as I was already dilating. She gave me a (tonsil) sweep (11.30am) and sent me on my way. Started surging almost straight away and they remained at 7-9 mins but getting stronger until a particularly strong one popped my waters at 5.10pm. Surges came thick and fast following that and, after our wee boy was collected by gran, we made our way to hospital. Longest 7 minute journey of my life!!! Arrived at hospital about 6pm and immediately asked for the pool. As pool was being run, I was on all 4s with g&a. In pool about 6.45pm and baby was born at 7.07pm. Playlist playing, hypnobirthing breathing and pool. Intense, very quick but really fantastic! No tears, no stitches and a very chilled out baby!

Shanster · 25/08/2016 21:51

Lovely birth story lainey, congrats again!! Dots, he is trying to be as wriggly on the outside as he was on the inside. He was sleepy all day yesterday but today just wants to feed and be held. Whenever I put him down he just writhes around so I now have him tightly swaddled and asleep....think that's what he needed all along!

Laineypopps · 25/08/2016 22:17

Oh shanster, he sounds like a wee treasure!! Hope you are enjoying your little man. Congratulations!!!! Wee boys are awesome!! Does he have a name yet?

FourForYouGlenCoco · 26/08/2016 09:28

Huge congrats shan and lainey! Lainey so so glad you got the birth you wanted after all that waiting - eyes watering slightly at the thought of a 9lb4oz-er! Go you with no tears too, you trooper.
shan this little boy is going to keep you on your toes for sure! C-sec sounds like it was definitely, definitely the right choice - don't think you'd have wanted to end up trying to give birth to a sideways baby! Hope you're not too sore or stiff today and are enjoying lots of lovely new baby snuggles.

Thinking of the ladies still holding down the fort over here - not long now! Link to grads thread just in case anyone needs it:

Lainey sounds like a great birth! Love the name Ruaridh too! Hope you're settling in well together at home.

Addicted how are you getting on? Anything happening today?

CheeseandGherkins · 26/08/2016 16:41

Lainey congratulations! Sounds like a great birth.

AddictedtoGreys · 26/08/2016 16:55

quite absolutely nothing Sad it's my due date tomorrow and I just feel like I'm never going to have this baby! I will probably get to 42w and have to be induced knowing my luck. It's strange because I was convinced this one would come earlyish as DS was born at 38+2!

Shanster · 26/08/2016 16:57

Thanks everyone!! glencoco, thanks for the link, I shall be joining you on the grad thread soon. We've called him 'Ronan' or 'Rascal Ronan' for now, I love him to bits!!

Thanks for the tips cheese, this c-section business is harder than I imagined. I was up and showered, had a tidy up in the hospital room and playing with my older kids when they came in yesterday, then last night was in a lot of pain with trapped wind. Had to lower my meds in order to let my digest tract get moving again. I have really low blood pressure under normal circumstances and its been lower than normal since the surgery - like 85/50 which is just making me feel dizzy and sleepy. taking it easy today as I'll be discharged tomorrow and I know when I'm home it will be much harder to just sit and relax.

quitecrunchy · 26/08/2016 23:41

Lovely name Shanster! Are your PIL sticking around for a bit to help with childcare whilst you're recovering? Hope you're not having to run about too much when you get home.

Addicted - bummer! Happy due day tomorrow, although you didn't want to hear that.

Lou are you still hanging on in there too?

Nothing happening here still!

AddictedtoGreys · 27/08/2016 08:33

So it's my due date today. And nothing. Absolutely nothing. Hmm

Lou2711 · 27/08/2016 11:32

Crunchy still hanging on in!! 40+8 now and still not having any signs. Booked in for induction Wednesday afternoon but was hoping to go before that. Me and my nephew were both booked to be induced and decided to come the day before so hoping for that!! Feeling like it's never going to happen Hmm

quitecrunchy · 28/08/2016 10:32

Still a good amount of time then to go on your own Lou, fingers crossed for you! I'm booked in for induction a week today (will be 41+6) after having put it back a couple of days in the hope that she shows up on her own. I might be tearing my hair out and regretting delaying it by the end of the week though!

AddictedtoGreys · 28/08/2016 13:21

I'm 40+1 and nothing today. Hmm

quitecrunchy · 29/08/2016 09:25

Things are really slowing down on here aren't they?! Hope everyone's doing alright.

plimsolls · 29/08/2016 12:03

Who have we got still waiting? I suppose a lot of the still pregnant crew are past their EDD now? I remember being one of the later ones at the 28th.... How are you all getting on? My early labour took me by surprise and I had a tearful moment early on in labour where I felt I wasn't ready to stop being pregnant yet! I imagine I would have swiftly got over that had I been pregnant much longer...

I'm one week and two days in, stitches are healing well and sometimes I almost feel recovered down there. Only sporadically though!

Almost getting over the post birth hormones. They really hit me, which I wasn't expecting. I'm pretty much ok now although feel quite anxious and weepy late evening especially if I'm tired and haven't eaten enough (so, every day!).

Even though we've been trying to stave off visitors, we've still ended up with people every day. I don't begrudge it at all (at the time) but when yet another evening rolls around super quickly, I wonder where the day has gone and how come I didn't manage a nap!

I'm currently lying on our bed with E in the crib next to me. It's a bit dreary outside and I'm thinking that summer is over. It's funny for us I think as presumably we most of us all found out we were pregnant around late Dec/early Jan, so our entire year so far has been punctuated by pregnancy progression. Just the last bit left for you guys now: the big event!
