Shell, yes I think we are nearby. I'm Peebles based 😊

I've not had a 16 week scan. Had a 12 week scan and then my book appointment at 14 (earliest I could get!) followed by this jag. Having my 16 week appointment at 18 weeks due to my late booking. I don't like to do things by the book!

LondonGirl83 · 18/08/2016 20:00

God, how can the guidelines be so different for everyone. My GP sent me a letter about whopping cough today but have said it can't be administered before 28 weeks but must be done before 32.

How can we all be given such different advice / timeframes?

wispaxmas · 18/08/2016 20:04

Right, various responses that will no doubt read as completely out of context as I'm going through the whole thread:

Next maternity jeggings (www.next.co.uk/go110508s6#123550) are currently the best thing ever - the bumps band felt a bit tight at first, but was great for when bump was basically non existant still, but it is stretching out well and the material of the leggings is sooooo soft. I have a feeling I will actually wear them out before this pregnancy is out. They came up a bit big on me (but some reviews say they come up small?), so maybe order a couple sizes if going for them.

Skylucy, I was so dizzy the other week I was lying down on the train ride home, it was terrible, but then I have a history of fainting and pregnancy apparently makes that worse. Keeping hydrated helps me, so it's not just the blood sugar.

No movements here yet @ 16+2.. Not holding my breath, though, as last baby didn't move much and I didn't feel anything until about 25 weeks.

We plan to find out the sex! 23 September and countdown is on. I have a strong feeling it's another girl, though, don't know why.

Only exercise I'm getting these days is my 10k steps a day. A couple weeks ago I tried to do my 20k steps a day again as I finally had got past the super fatigue stage and after 5 days averaging 18k steps a day I noticed my pelvis/hips/knee all really hurting. Seriously not fair this relaxin stuff.

As for skin, no spots here, but terribly dry in patches. I have a tiny little patch of eczema a bit smaller than the size of a 5p coin RIGHT between my eyebrows, it's awful. But my poor shins are getting scratched to ribbons in my sleep from it, so I suppose that's worse, but I'm so vain Blush.

evergreen, tell them all the shut the hell up, it's not their body or their baby.

Scotty, to join the FB group just PM me through the mumsnet website (you can't do it from the talk app) with and give me your email address I can send the invitation. It's a secret group, so no one will even know you've joined.

I did skip loads, but then there's like 300 messages there.. plus the end of the last thread I never saw Shock.

Evening all. I had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday (16 weeks tomorrow) and she was happy with everything. Told her my ankles are swelling already and she said I need to be putting my feet up more, I carry a lot of fluid when pregnant and walk around 3-4 hours most days so its not the best mix. Hard to get time to put feet up with two little ones though, I'll try I guess.

sunshineface I used hypno birthing techniques with my second and had an amazing eater birth, really hoping for the same again. Would highly recommend!

I haven't had a drink while pregnant, the last time I drank will have been around a week before conception. Reason for thid is that I don't actually drink often but when i do I really do lol. Bit of a binge drinker I guess. I only drink at parties/special occasions and will have quite a few when I do so just don't drink at all when pregnant and when the babies are young x

jpclarke · 18/08/2016 20:19

Evergreen, please just try and let it go over your head. When the baby gets here everyone will have something to say about what you are doing with the baby. So you will just have to learn to say 'thanks for the advice' and let it over your head.

Shellbell0403 · 18/08/2016 20:32

scotty aww that's not far from me at all, about 25 mins 😃

I have my 16 week app a week on Monday... quite nervous about it!

topmammy · 18/08/2016 20:32

Found the email invitation wispa, thanks Grin

ScottyAl · 18/08/2016 20:37

Shell, ooh! Will you going into Edinburgh when the time comes? I'm BGH which is a good 45 mins away. But nervous given the early Feb due date, likelihood of snow and the fact I live a few miles up B roads and a farm track!

My 16 week app was height and weight (of me, obviously!), blood tests to check blood type, HIV etc, iron levels and something else, carbon monoxide level test (like a breathalyser (sp?)) I was also given A LOT of bits of paper and magazines etc. Oh, and a free pen! I was in and out in half an hour. And...I've just typed all this and realised that was my booking app and I haven't actually had my 16 week app yet. Wow. Baby brain already??

Evergreen17 · 18/08/2016 20:39

Thanks fenella, exactly what I thought!

London yes, very true. But instead I kept quiet like a fool

Bumpngrind85 · 18/08/2016 20:43

Hi ladies. Currently 14+5 with second bubba. Dd is 19months which is proving fun fun fun. I seem to have a great deal of lower back pain already and similar symptoms to sciatica but don't think it's that as not going down into foot. Anyone have anything similar?! Oh the joys of pregnancy! Grin

Shellbell0403 · 18/08/2016 20:51

scotty no I'm going to Wishaw General as that's the closest maternity to us. Haha that was very much like my booking in app! Just wondering what the 16 week one is like, whether they listen for hb or not..

bump i have pain in my right side/back area..Can't really lie on it for long or sit with my leg under me etc.

evergreen just ignore, none of their business 😘

gumbootsandjandals · 18/08/2016 20:51

I went to a ball when I was 7m pg and nursed a glass of bubbles for well over an hour. At some point during the dinner ppl clicked I was pg. A woman who I'd never met before randomly asked, rather loudly so the whole table of 10 could hear, "so how much do they recommend pg women drink these days?" I replied, "nothing, but I'm comfortable drinking half a glass of bubbles," and left it there. I couldn't tell.if she was genuinely curious or judging me.

I have not touched a drop this pg because I have suffered from a smell/taste disorder since Jan and all alcohol tastes gross. I really wanted to have a glass of champagne to celebrates DH's new job but I have a complete aversion to alcohol now so wouldn't even check if it still tastes gross.

Readyfortwo · 18/08/2016 20:55

scotty if you don't want to do tea then you can buy peppermint oil capsules from places like Holland & Barrett- they're much stronger too.

Scotty I am obsessed with salt and vinegar discos!! And weirdly I craved a roast tonight too - I'm a vegetarian so wolfed down a mushroom higgidy pie, potatoes, veg and a gallon of gravy. Awesome. The bloating's a bitch though - I gave up wriggling around the sofa in discomfort and am now stretched out in the bath. Soothing!

topmammy · 18/08/2016 21:43

Last pregnancy I got a bit obsessed with San Pellegrino Limonata. Nicest lemonade ever. I love citrus smells and flavours anyway but pregnancy seems to heighten it. Unfortunately the lemonade is not exactly good for the bloating issue so I'm being careful this time! I remember drinking a whole can when I had a pretty big bump and seriously regretted it - there was definitely not enough room for all that fizz as well as baby!

sky and scotty I took a notion for salt and vinegar discos.... got them AND they were rotten 😔 they didn't have any flavour/ taste and tasted like cardboard. Was gutted

topmammy · 18/08/2016 21:49

Oops sorry, don't know why that posted twice.

LondonGirl83 · 18/08/2016 22:03

ever never mind. I find it too easy to be rude to people who get on my nerves (I'm American!)

At the airport yesterday an obnoxious couple left their luggage cart in the middle of the line after checking in their bags blocking everyone else's path. I called out to them 'Is this yours' to which they grumbled thanks and took it away.

Since getting pregnant my tolerance level for inconsiderate behaviour has dropped to zero!

WeeJo08 · 18/08/2016 22:09
