Finally managed to find a company that will insure me to travel..

Grr...have just got back from mw appointment. Unfortunately it was the 'not so nice' mw today. First she told me my iron levels are "just acceptable" and lectured me on good diet the results from my 12 week bloods were perfect and I had lived on chipsticks and mashed potatoe for a month...perhaps I should go back to that diet???? Then she told me i was a bit small for my dates (30cm, i'm 31 weeks) but she measured twice and didn't say what the other measurement was...not convinced she measured correctly. Then she listened to bean...and complained that bean was kicking the doppler (it always does that). She then went on to feel position of baby and told me it was breech, which i was expecting as it was head down last time and i felt (and saw!) it somersault the other day when i was in the bath. Not worried about it at all cos it's always turning about. She kept telling me not to worry, plenty of time for it to turn, when it does go head down it won't go back (eh?),...ARGH. She didn't ask if i had any questions and didn't talk about homebirth (despite it being on the list of things to do this visit)...although i wasn't wanting one so it doesn't really matter, it's just that she doesn't know that does she? Oh and she tested my urine over my maternity notes - lovely and hygenic . Sorry to rant

Sounds as though she's a miserable bag and you have nothing really to worry about at all (which I'm sure you knew anyway!) Sorry it was a frustrating appt though

I was watching This Morning, this morning, and they were talking about the mw crisis - ie the lack of them and the lack of continuity in care for pg women. Nightmare.

I am incredibly lucky that my friend is my mw and she will be there no matter what God love her.

ok - big onion has finished 3 cds and ready to go. like nutty's midwive - his hygiene aint been too good and the envelope licking has been a bit messy. mammyjo, eca and gmm have asked for copies to date.. any other takers??????????

Nutty - so much sympathy re. crap midwives... mine complained that my baby was hiding from her doppler! (it took about 10 secs to find it!!) idiots.

Not too worried, just a little bit about the measurements cos at 25w I was measuring a bit nig (different mw), at 28w I was spot on (nice mw, who said that maybe the mw at 25w appt had rushed measurement) and now at 31w am measuring a bit small...

Had to giggle that bean kept kicking doppler and shifting about when mw was trying to listen to hb...she's obviously going to be a demanding little princess that will get everything she wants cos me and DH will have no control over her

Also SIL has had first scan, her bean is 8.5 weeks roughly. Pic is fab cos the bean is soooooo tiny....it's just amazing!

a friend has just seen my work annual report and laughed in an uproar at my image in it. he has doctored it to this - oh dear.. roll on maternity leave so i can hold my head up again
