Thread five for the chattiest bunch of preggers ladies you've ever had the pleasure of encountering. We're greeting the second trimester with excitement and apprehension, and lots of questions, humour, reassurance, empathy and advice.

Fourth thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2684139-february-2017-thread-4-are-we-the-chattiest-bunch-or-what

radderss I have heard that one lol, although I can't think of anything more impractical! If its a travel system you need it before baby's born for the carseat. I think I'm gonna take.my youngest for a spin in the new one anyway haha.

I'm not a big fan of actual maternity clothes, they just don't fit me right. I've got some jeans and they just fell down last time but smaller size was to small. I don't mind maternity t-shirts and have two, one that says love my bump and another with Mr bump on Grin . I'll wear them from around 20 weeks. I wear dresses most days so can keep wearing them for a good while then just wear the size up x

CinderellaFant · 31/07/2016 10:27

Glad to hear the icandys are worth it. By the time I get the carrycot and the car seat it'll probably be worth more than my car, but babies worth it haha.

With my first pregnancy, DH and I weren't together for very long and we were both still living at home. We found out we were pregnant and suddenly had to look for a house and pay for everything to fill it- literally starting from scratch so had to buy sofa, TV, washing machine, fridge, beds etc so didn't have much money for baby stuff so I just had a ladybird travel system which was in the sale in littlewoods, so I could pay it off! It was ok but I didn't love it, same with everything else- we just got the basics that we could afford. Them DD came two years later and my parents were adamant that they would buy the pram. Felt like I couldn't ask for a really expensive one so ended up again with one I liked but didn't love.

This time it's definitely our last baby and I'm having the pram I love, no matter what! Same with one of those rocking nursing chairs- I've always wanted one of those so I'll be getting one this time! Oh and one of the little baby beanbags!

Due to health problems we never thought we would have a third child so we have got rid of everything from our other children-cot/steriliser/prams/bouncy chair etc. The only thing I have left is a Jumperoo- which are fabulous!!

divadee · 31/07/2016 10:58

We are also looking at the giggle 2. Other half liked it in the shop. And it comes with everything needed including car seat.

TheresaMarie55 · 31/07/2016 11:04

Divadee, if you look online there's a few options for the carseat that come with the giggle. We ended up getting a joie carseat as its compatible with our stroller which I'll be using when out with my mum so perfect. I'll never use the carseat on the actual giggle so wasn't.to fussed about that having the pattern. X

Carly we're still using our Uppababy Vista for DD at 16 months, mostly parent facing. She really didn't get on well facing out until a few months ago and I much prefer being able to make faces and chat to her. We've got a city mini too which is smaller and easier to fold but I still prefer the vista. She always looks more comfortable in it too.
I tend to put her in the connecta if it's too much hassle to have the big buggy.

ScottishSnowflake · 31/07/2016 11:28

Morning all.

Anyone else having/ had a wobble about their 12 week scan. I'm just so scared that I'll get there and they won't find anything Sad my scan's Tuesday but all my symptoms are rapidly vanishing too and I know there's no point doing a pregnancy test. Sorry, anyone else felt the same?

Shellbell0403 · 31/07/2016 11:37

Scottish Yes!! I am the exact same as you!! So nervous! I keep thinking I'm going to go and have a missed miscarriage!
I'm sure everything will be fine though?!

ScottishSnowflake · 31/07/2016 11:40

I really hope so shell. Fingers crossed for your scan - this week is just dragging for me (and I usually love weekends that drag Sad)

Shellbell0403 · 31/07/2016 11:55

You will be fine scottish there will be a wee bouncing bubba there for you! Only two sleeps!
My scans not until Thursday 🙈

2ManySweets · 31/07/2016 12:29

Feeling the same as you two but two weeks to go yet....arghhhhhhhh

ScottishSnowflake · 31/07/2016 12:42

I hated the 2week wait 2many. I was lucky in that I didn't have the 2ww when seeing the pregnancy test for the first time so now I'm paying for it now!

Shell, 4 sleeps for you. Good luck! Hopefully you've got something to take your mind off the time.

SkyLucy · 31/07/2016 12:44

I'm with you shell and mysterious - can't even begin to think about what we need, let alone buy anything. My scan's tomorrow morning and I'm already really nervous - I assume it's alive and growing because I'm so sick, but I'm not certain. And if everything's okay, then it means it's all actually happening....which I'm not sure I'm ready for! Hope that isn't too honest...I'm just terrified.

In a bid to distract myself, I've just read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Anyone else? X

Sky my book has just arrived!!! So excited!

wispaxmas · 31/07/2016 12:54

I love pushchair talk Grin

I'm selling my bugaboo bee+ and buying a new bee3 in the special edition petrol blue as I love it. Also have a bugaboo buffalo and love it, too, but needed something smaller for quick steps to shops or public transport into town. I'd highly recommend them both!

mrschn · 31/07/2016 13:15

We worked out that with this being our second it only just pays for me to go back to work once DS1 gets his government nursery funding in September. So I'll be taking longer mat leave this time around to get us to that point else we would be paying for me to go to work once childcare and commuting costs are accounted for.
I'll be working for very little for a year. But it is temporary, keeps me in the 'game' and in a year DS1 will be at school and we'll be better off financially again. So whilst it might not seem worth it to work in the short term there is also the long term effect on your salary to think about (in some jobs).

Dutchy oh my god the night time peeing. It's driving me mad. I don't remember it being this bad last time!

Readyfortwo · 31/07/2016 13:31

Pheobe - in answer to your stat pay question, the max is 39 weeks regardless of whether it's you or DH taking it, so if you take the full 39 then he'll get nothing for the last 3 months (unless his employer is very forward thinking and offer enhanced).

On pram talk, we have an Uppababy Vista- yes it's bulky, but so lovely to push with a huge basket so it's still in use even tho DS is nearly 3 now! We do have a cheap stroller too which we use for hols/nursery runs/times when we want to leave the pushchair without fear of it being nicked- that cost £40 from Amazon.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/07/2016 13:37

Oh, I wish I could justify buying a new pram, that was such an exciting time.

We've got a silver cross linear freeway. My parent bought it for us for DS. I loved it, but it was so clunky. The boot of DH's car is massive, and the frame and carry cot used to pretty much fill it.

I'm a bit nervous about digging out the baby stuff from the loft in case it's gone all mouldy and rank!

Mysterycat23 · 31/07/2016 14:02

skylucy and shell Keep thinking I should write a list but still putting it off.. hoping I will get in the mood over next few weeks. Honesty is good, I love the honesty in our threads, and the tmi about ms etc.... Hearing from all you guys (gals!) is what keeps me going. I don't think I'd be able to be so honest with anyone irl, I'm too aware of wanting to keep everyone happy and not worry anyone. Books are an excellent distraction, I've been re reading the Discworld series for a few weeks now!

Mrschn very good point about long term impact on career, that's a "hidden cost" isn't it! So much to think about.

FlipperSkipper · 31/07/2016 14:25

Thanks Readyfortwo, ASOS looks good, think I'll be ordering from them at some point!

I'm eyeing up the icandy Apple, I've not seen it in real life yet but ice found a good deal online. I'll definitely test drive it before buying. I daren't buy anything too soon though.

Has anyone been sucked in by Emma's diary? I picked up the Mum to be pack today and got trial sizes of pregnacare and bepanthen, and 2 breast pads.

Evergreen17 · 31/07/2016 15:02

Shell definitely not be worried!! I might have a bit of endometriosis so I am a bit more sore down than the average woman Grin
My scan in Thursday too!
Scottish my scan is on Thursday and I cant wait. But I can't even think of getting bad news so I am keeping busy cleaning and going fishing later on.
I can't even imagine if things werent ok so I am not Smile
Very few symptoms left but nothing I can do
4 days until scan ConfusedConfused

I never got morning sickness either

I did see the bean at 7 weeks and it has a heart

Evergreen17 · 31/07/2016 15:07

It had

ScottishSnowflake · 31/07/2016 15:27

Good plan Evergreen. Sadly it's quite at my workplace atm but I've managed to do the gardening and start nesting this weekend to keep positive and occupied. Time sadly is just playing relative to my need to see baby!

Fingers crossed everything continues to go well for you too! Smile

LondonGirl83 · 31/07/2016 15:44

The constipation is terrible. I haven't had a poor in days!

wispa what made you go for the bugaboo bee over the chameleon? I have no idea what pram we will choose but of the bugaboo range it seems most people get the chameleon so just curious.

Evergreen17 · 31/07/2016 15:51

In a couple of weeks we will all be done with this 12 weeks scan madness and I just cant wait!

kikisdelivery · 31/07/2016 17:06

Ooh found you all Smile.

I am just sneaking in as visitors have gone out for a walk with the other half (I did a lot of yesterday's entertaining), so I thought I'd quickly catch up.

Less that 24 hours to my scan, eeeep... and yes, I'm as terrified as everyone else!!
