Thread five for the chattiest bunch of preggers ladies you've ever had the pleasure of encountering. We're greeting the second trimester with excitement and apprehension, and lots of questions, humour, reassurance, empathy and advice.

Fourth thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2684139-february-2017-thread-4-are-we-the-chattiest-bunch-or-what

Ah I just see Evergreen is getting married today, have a lovely day :)
I have my wedding on 27th :) X

kikisdelivery · 05/08/2016 11:55

Hahah Sparkles, when I took my pot of pee to my first booking bloods, I handed it over really proudly and said to the nurse "this is for you", like it was a little treasure, and not a pot of piss. So wrong!

Dreamingoutloud7 · 05/08/2016 12:44

Good luck for anyone having their scan today!

My boobs are hurting today, keep getting stabbing pains in them, not very professional to be at your desk holding your boob Blush

FriendlyGhost · 05/08/2016 12:57

Scan went well and I'm further ahead than I thought. Now 13+1 rather than 12+3 and due on the 9th!

Due in February 2017....thread 5!
MrsM2016 · 05/08/2016 13:05

Lovely scan pic friendly. I was further ahead too :) Don't they look so cute all snuggled!

Is anyone else still being sick daily?

SBSparkles · 05/08/2016 13:56

Kiki lol!!! I once handed one to a doctor and said 'I brought you a present' and he did a fake excited 'Oooh thanks!' It was kinda awkward patient/doctor banter!! Haha!!! I broke through the wall of professionalism!! Grin

SBSparkles · 05/08/2016 13:58

Mrsm not being sick but feeling queasy!!! I'm 15 weeks tomorrow! I must just be getting more and more hormones! It would explain my outburst in Argos this afternoon ( don't ask)

ScottishSnowflake · 05/08/2016 15:44

MrsM, congrats! We're due on same day and were scan date buddies too!

Yay friendly, congrats!

LondonGirl83 · 05/08/2016 17:30

My queasiness and tiredness has kicked up a notch since getting back from Canada. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow.

jpclarke · 05/08/2016 17:34

Evergreen, I hope you are having a great day, and that you are not longer stressed. It's such a great time, cherish it. Congrats on all the fab scan pictures? Have we any twins yet? I have a scan on Tuesday and I am literally like a child counting how many more sleeps I have!! Still feeling generally crap, no sickness. But nausea, no real appetite and diarrhoea (sorry tmi)! I feel different than I remember on my other two babies, so I am just praying and hoping all will be ok on Tuesday. Picked up my urine sample pots today, I hate trying to pee into the things!!

wispaxmas · 05/08/2016 17:40

Button, I think the higher intelligence with moderate drinking she pointed out as a correlation, just highlighting one of the many issues with studies on pregnant woman, as since you cannot do randomised controlled trials there will be a lot of results that are not necessarily indicative of a causation, just correlation.

Hope you're having a wonderful day, Evergreen!

wispaxmas · 05/08/2016 17:47

I'm going out for dinner tonight in a fancy (for me) restaurant in London with DH and my aunt and uncle who are in town visiting. I fully intend to order a glass of wine with dinner. Not feeling sick anymore, so I'm making the most of it! Sadly I'm still going to avoid the rare steak, though - as it's a cause of toxoplasmosis, which although there's only a very slim chance of getting it would be very bad for a baby. Even expecting better backs that one up Sad.

mrschn · 05/08/2016 18:06

wispa I too had the odd glass of wine in my last pregnancy on special occasions. I missed it loads and the science is not there to support that it might be harmful. Weirdly this time I can't bear to go near the stuff. I'm not even interested. Ditto with my morning cup of tea which is normally sacred! Really missed caffeine first pregnancy, can't touch the stuff (or the decaf version) now. Odd.

I've been pretty lax on food this time. I had a Brie sandwich a few weeks back because it was just what I wanted and couldn't stomach any other options in the shop! I've had sushi and soft eggs. Funnily enough I did cook a chicken dish at home with chicken one day before its use by and the smell made me not want it... Wonder if that was my body's way of warning me off as I wouldn't normally be sensitive! Fed it to DH anyway though Grin

ButtonTum · 05/08/2016 19:54

You're absolutely right wispa.

I just had a massive paddy on way home from work when DH said it was chicken stir fry for dinner not fish and chips like I'd requested this am. Turns out it was a fake out and he was teasing. I'm such a hormonal grot bag!

Shellbell0403 · 05/08/2016 21:28

MrsM I'm feeling/being sick every day except today I actually feel kinda normal except a couple of bouts of nausea... had an upset tummy tonight though 😷

mshepp · 05/08/2016 22:02

Blood test yesterday morning and results through the post today! So much quicker than I was expecting! Thankfully all good news and low risk of Down's syndrome

Evergreen17 · 06/08/2016 06:46

Morning everyone!!! Thank you all for all your congratulations and wishes!

I am married! Weird

I am also pregnant! What??!!! Honestly this is just sinking in after the scan!

Struggling to sleep for more than a 2 hours block so very tired.

I had a Kir Royale yesterday and I dont regret it Grin although I drunk it very slowly even then I felt a bit drunk Hmm

Happy weekend everyone!

Readyfortwo · 06/08/2016 06:52

Yay! Congratulations evergreen Smile

CeeCeeEnnEss · 06/08/2016 07:31

Congratulations!

Wonderlust123 · 06/08/2016 07:43

At 12 weeks, should we still be taking Folic Acid, or is that not necessary now?

Also, I remember hearing about something to prevent stretch marks, and to start applying that asap. Anyone who's already done this, do creams etc actually help?

divadee · 06/08/2016 07:55

Morning ladies.

wonder I have stopped the folic acid now as it was making me feel even more sick. I have switched to just a vitamin d supplement as the pregnancy ones were all vile. All made me sick especially pregnacare

Dreamingoutloud7 · 06/08/2016 08:01

wonder I've been using stretch mark cream since I found out just to keep my skin supple really, haven't been routinely putting it on just when I remember, however now I'm getting bigger I'm going to do it twice a day, who knows if it helps, you'll get people say yes and people say no, but I figure it's worth a shot and it really helps with the itchyness that I keep getting which is a sign of stretching skin. So that's reason enough for me to continue otherwise I'll scratch myself raw Confused

Dreamingoutloud7 · 06/08/2016 08:01

Congratulations evergreen WineGrin

SBSparkles · 06/08/2016 08:08

Wonder I was wondering the same thing and asked my gp who said to take it until 4/5 months. My dad had spins bifida and my MIL apparently has a mild form of it (you'd never know) so I am on the high dose anyway. I was also taking it three months before conception (you do that kind of stuff with ivf!) so short answer - see what your midwife/gp says.
I am piling my stomach and boobs with raw coconut oil every day in an attempt to avoid stretch marks. I don't like using products with chemicals in and avoid sulphites and parabins (spelling!!!?) as they can affect fertility (another ivf thing)
Just a note incase anyone doesn't know ( I didn't!) because you are prone to varicose veins after birth my friend told me she put her feet up for ten mins every day after work. I went to see my neighbour yesterday and she showed me her foot - the whole thing was purple! She said it was from her last baby (she's like 80 now) so that scared me a bit too!! Just an idea x

SBSparkles · 06/08/2016 08:09

*piling = oiling! Damn you predictive text!!
