Crazy that we are onto thread 4 already!

Just starting the 12-week scans, but still feet firmly in the anxiety-ridden first trimester, yikes!

Thinking of you too scottish, so stressful waiting for that first scan.
Am I right in thinking that for an EDD in Feb, we should all be at the 12 week point or further by 16 August? Feels worth celebrating! When is the latest first nhs scan on this thread? Can't wait until we are all past the milestone!

Shellbell0403 · 24/07/2016 12:22

Thanks ladies! Trying to put it out my mind..
scottish my scan isn't until the 4th August so 11 days?
Google is definitely a bad bad thing! Lol

ScottishSnowflake · 24/07/2016 12:25

Thanks Gin and Sparkles Smile Gin, I think the latest I've seen is the 10 August on the thread, but my area do your 12 week scan between 11+5 and 13+5, and your booking in between 9-11 weeks. Think my area likes leaving things a bit later for some reason (although my midwife said my first bloods should be done by 10weeks and I was 9+6 when I saw her and so had to go straight to hospital to have them done (my hospital has a walk in daily blood clinic).

GinandJazzHands · 24/07/2016 12:26

Sometimes when it's all a bit much my DH will google pictures of baby animals and pass me his phone. At all other times google is evil.

ScottishSnowflake · 24/07/2016 12:27

Shell, I'm 2 August although I'm in for 08:40 and not allowed to go to the loo 2 hours beforehand! Have to wake up early otherwise I'll be desperate by the time of the scan Confused

GinandJazzHands · 24/07/2016 12:32

Thanks scottish, so it could be as late as the end of August before some of us have our first scan! I've got a second nhs one on 12 Aug as my first twelve week scan was scheduled too early, but now I know it's all ok at 9-10 weeks it just feels like a freebie and I'm not worried (will probably be freaking out about mmc's from about 10 Aug though).

MimiDiddy · 24/07/2016 12:42

Hi Shell, I think I read somewhere that only about 1% of miscarriages are picked up at the 12 week scan, and like Gin said if you're feeling sick and haven't had bleeding or period like cramps, the chances are really good that things are fine. The first trimester is a scary time, be kind to yourself hun.

Shellbell0403 · 24/07/2016 12:54

Thanks mimi I had an early scan at 8+5 weeks and I seen the heartbeat. I know it reduces if see that etc just can't get the niggle away, I'm sure will pass.

scottish OMG 8.40 that's fab on that side of it but the no peeing thing is a worry lol! Mine is at 11.45. Ps I'm from Scotland too 😁

Aww Gin that's nice that DH does that! Mine tells me to stop worrying!! Lol but I agree, Google is horrid sometimes!!

Sparkles I'm a worrier also 😁

ScottishSnowflake · 24/07/2016 13:12

Has anyone joined the boots parenting club at all? Is it worth it?

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 13:16

Just found this great article - for anyone who is worrying about symptoms. www.verywell.com/morning-sickness-suddenly-stopping-in-early-pregnancy-2371247

SpinALittleFaster · 24/07/2016 13:21

snowflake I joined it and occasionally get vouchers on my app, but I've never had any of the free stuff they use to advertise it in store. The £5 off £20 vouchers are nice but haven't seen one of those in a while.

Sparkles probably not the best person to reassure you but I haven't been sick once. I get a bit funny around bad/strong smells but otherwise nothing. I was only sick a handful of times with DD.

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 13:47

Thanks spin to be fair ive only had queasiness - never been sick or felt like I was going to be, or even missed a meal because of it. Just a couple of weeks of feeling yukky

SkyLucy · 24/07/2016 14:10

Gin - love the idea of a (virtual) celebration when we're all past the 12-week scan point!

Just wish I had a date! My MW seemed really pissed off when I asked her again last week - according to her dates though I'm 11+6 (I'm only 10+2), so you'd think she might be a bit interested!! Can you change midwives if you just don't like yours?!

MimiDiddy · 24/07/2016 14:38

Scottish I had my 8 week scan at 8:40am, I wasn't told not to pee due 2 hrs beforehand (I'm not even sure that would have possible), just turn up with a full bladder. So I just went as normal and then drank some water every few mins until the appointment. The sonographer found our bean without any problems. Good luck for your scan (and full bladder)!

ScottishSnowflake · 24/07/2016 14:47

Thanks Mimi, that may be a good way around it!

MimiDiddy · 24/07/2016 15:00

Shell seeing a heartbeat at 8wks is a really good sign too Smile. I've had 3 MCs and had never had a positive scan until this pregnancy, DH hadn't told me he'd been doing some googling of his own and the chance of mc after seeing that was 2%. I've got my 12 week scan on Wed, am just trying not to think about it too much and keep myself busy. Roll on the second trimester!

Does anyone know if the crying at the TV and being dead grumpy with your other half improves in the 2nd trimester? The last couple of episodes of Orange is the New Black have had me in floods and I seem to be constantly biting DH head off, even when he's being nice Blush

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 15:41

Skylucy I took matters into my own hands and rang the antenatal unit myself and asked for an appointment!! I got to chose my appointment that way as well. I was going on holiday so wanted to know! I'd say you should have been told by now!

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 15:43

Mimi my midwife told me the hormones get worse! I am definitely super grumpy as well!! Wink

Readyfortwo · 24/07/2016 15:44

I don't know about anger in the 1st Mimi, but I'm now I'm the 2nd tri & can't get enough of DH now....he doesn't seem to be complaining!

MimiDiddy · 24/07/2016 16:04

Ready, I hope I get the same hormones firing you have. Poor DH has seen no action since I got a BFP. I really haven't felt like it and I started miscarrying after dtd in a previous pregnancy so whilst he's missing it he doesn't want to until I'm in the 2nd trimester.

Sparkles I fear I maybe a single mum if I carry on being this narky for another 6 months Envy

Shellbell0403 · 24/07/2016 16:07

mimi I was nearly crying at blooming Greace yesterday!! Of all the films haha... feel abit snarky at DH also sometimes

Iv only dtd twice since bfp! We waited until I had my early scan xx

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 16:10

She'll and mimi lol!! Me too!! Only twice!! Poor hubby has been really good but keeps getting knocked back! Last time I got a water infection after - might be a coincidence but don't want to risk it! I just don't feel like it at all!! Hmm

SBSparkles · 24/07/2016 16:12

Mimi I'm actually worse if DH is nice. God I'm so mean! I guess when your energy is low you aren't as bouncy and fun!!

CinderellaFant · 24/07/2016 16:32

Hi all, haven't been on in ages as I've been on holiday with no wifi- back now and seems like I've never been away! Morning sickness has completely gone, although I'm still exhausted. 12 week Scan tomorrow- so nervous!
