yawningmonster · 13/02/2007 20:45

Lissielou glad to see you are back at home again, all the very best I am so sorry for all you have gone through

ST..such sad news, my wishes and thoughts are with you.

Welcome to verso...hope you are feeling ok you are due the day after me and it all feels kind of surreal at the moment.

Verso · 13/02/2007 21:04

thanks, lissielou. Yawningmonster I've got prickly boobs and very mild wafts of nausea from time to time... oh and lots of cramps... but otherwise fine. How are you?

I'm seeing my GP on Friday. If I remember rightly from last time they get very non-plussed when you turn up about five minutes pregnant and tell you to go away for a few weeks. We shall see!

fettle · 13/02/2007 21:06

Just thought I'd come and say hello as Greedy told me to in bold [I can't do bold!!] on another thread!!

Due on 2nd Oct - I'll fill my stats in on the appropriate thread, but I've had 2 mc since DD who is 3 in April, so a little bit unsure about everything still -hence why I've not been on here yet!!

Getting more confident as each day passes, so hopefully I'll be back soon!

take care all
x

hugs to lissie & ST - so sorry to hear your news. x

yawningmonster · 14/02/2007 02:22

welcome fettle

verso I keep having to check the tests to make sure the lines are still there, I have some mild symptoms but keep thinking that they are all in my head and that af is going to come visiting anytime...just doesn't seem real yet.

whoopswithminiwhoopstinybump · 14/02/2007 05:46

ST sorry to hear your news

welcome Fettle & Verso

I'm off to the doctors this morning not really sure why part of me thinks I don't need to go but the other part of me keeps coming up with questions to ask! I suppose I just want that little extra reasurance!!

Hope everyone has a good day

MrsMcJnr · 14/02/2007 08:55

I?m in a right state this morning, I woke up to some brown spotting and the panic has made me feel really sick and my headache has been execerbated. I am trying to remember all of you who have had spotting and been ok but all I can recall at the moment are the ones that have ended badly. Do you think I should sit tight and see what happens (I?m at work) or go home and rest and call my GP? I know I am being a drama queen but I just can?t bear the idea of losing my baby

spraklynewthing · 14/02/2007 09:02

Hi Mrs,

Have popped over from Sept thread - I have had brown spotting at both six and eight weeks. I would advise you see your gp or try and see if you can self refer to Early pregancy unit - you are in Scotland aren't you? try this link for contacts:
www.earlypregnancy.org.uk/FindUs2.asp?region=Scotland

I think it is best to be on the safe side even though it appears to be very common - my midwive said it was important to get any bleeding checked out.

Try not to worry too much and best of luck.

spraklynewthing · 14/02/2007 09:04

should have added I am now 12 weeks and (fingers crossed) everything is fine!

yawningmonster · 14/02/2007 09:06

MMJ I agree, I would take day off and see gp but I'm a real worrier me and I do know that some of the "brown spotters" have been fine so a rest and some reassurance could go along way...best of luck thinking of you

MrsMcJnr · 14/02/2007 09:34

Thank you so much I have spoken to the MW (though not had an appointment with her yet) as my GP is on holiday. She thinks it's too early for scan results to be meaningful (i'm 6+3) so she has told me to go in for benchmarking blood tests tomorrow and then I'll go to the EPU at the weekend for another test to see if the levels are rising. I have GP appointment on Mon when she is going to refer me for early scan anyway. MW did say bleeding is common in early pregnancy but it needs to be checked out.

spraklynewthing · 14/02/2007 09:42

Delighted you have had medical reassurance. I can only say good things about my local EPU. It can be a horribly tense time, can't it? I was in floods of tears when it happen to me, which started DH off!

I had a scan at around 6 1/2 weeks and saw the little sac and baby blob inside! The again at 8 weeks, as I had a real bleed, and there was a tiny baby shaped blob bobbing around, completed oblivious to the worry it was causing it's Mum! AMAZING.

Take it easy today and be kind to yourself.

MrsMcJnr · 14/02/2007 10:05

Thanks. She actually just callled me back just now and said that on advice from the EPU she has changed her mind, the blood tests can cause more anxiety because the levels might be off even when nothing?s wrong so she?s booked me into the EPU for a scan next Fri when I?ll be 7+5 but I?m to call the EPU if I have pain or proper bleeding. It is a tense time and you feel so helpless don?t you? I guess nature just decides what will be won?t it. Hope I see what you did I really appreciate you coming on here to help me. How are you feeling these days?

whoopsee · 14/02/2007 10:34

Mrs Mc I had spotting with my other 2 pregnancies and they turned out fine

My doctor suggested I stayed at home today as I was feeling so crap except I had to bring the post in and now can't escape would love to be back in bed!!

Mumpbump · 14/02/2007 10:58

J2OBABY - I wouldn't eat prawns during pg anyway because they can contain heavy minerals. Here is a link to the nauseatingly happy and completely unrealistic Emma's diary which sets out what you can and can't eat...

pregnancy foods

MrsMcJnr · 14/02/2007 11:24

J20 - hope it goes well today, thinking of you.

Fettle - lovely to see you here!

Congratulations Verso!

(my head is so sore, honestly, how can I relieve it?)

Mumpbump · 14/02/2007 11:36

MrsMcJr - my doctor told me that you can safely take 1g doses of paracetamol during pg, even early stages. Absolutely no ibuprofen though!

KezzaG · 14/02/2007 11:37

Hi all, I have just spent ages reading this and trying to remember who is who!

My sympathies to all who still have this cold, it is horrible isnt it.

OK, as best I can remember: MrsMcJnr, I have everything crossed for you. I know 3 people who had bleeding (some quite significantly) who went on to have healthy babies so it can be done. I hope you manage to relax and get through the next few days.

Welcome to mumpbump, verso, and fettle. I dont think I have missed anyone but apologies if I have.

Greedy - I am loving the shrine of pg tests. I know the cost of having a child is huge but you must be seruosly out of pocket before he or she is even born Those things aint cheap!

J20BABY, think you have a scan today, and whoops you are seeing your gp. Good luck both.

Strangtown, so so sorry to hear your news (if you are still reading)

Sorry to anyone i have missed, I am trying to make an effort to remember people from now on!

So, I think I am now going to crawl back under the blanket and watch This Morning. Oh the pleasure of working from home

thehairybabysmum · 14/02/2007 13:25

Hello Everyone...hope you are all ok. Good to see more new people on here.

Really sorry about your m/c Strangetown...its just such a shitty thing to have to go through .

MrsMcJ hope you are ok, paracetamol is ok to take...thats about it though. Hope your bleeding stops and all is ok with you.

re the prawns...i ate cooked prawns during 1st preg with no probs. but i also ate blue cheese....i developed my own rule which is the M&S approach to pregnancy foods.

My reasoning was that as a lot of old ladies buy M&S food and they are also a group at risk from listeria then i figured it would be headline news if hoards of old folk were keeling over with food poisoning from M&S. As ive never seen anything like this on the news then i figured if i bought something in Marks it would be ok to eat!! Therefore prawn cocktail and blue cheese from M&S were on my menu!

Obviously this is the result of a pregnant womans logic so no scientific basis whatsover!!

J20BABY · 14/02/2007 13:34

Hello all.

MrsM sorry your feeling crap, i've got the headache too, are you drinking plenty of water?

well, i've had my scan, and yes it was internal but it wasn't too bad, although i was shaking!

i saw the heartbeat, and the baby is 3.9mm in legnth, so apparantly i'm just under 6 weeks(thought i was further) and i'm slightly anamicbut it seems everything is ok so far, and the abdominal pain and spotting is nothing to worry about.

greedyforbabies · 14/02/2007 14:46

j20 - thats great news! and a seeing a heartbeat so early is very lucky. glad it wasnt too traumatic for you!

mrs! - what can i say hey? its so scarey isnt it? i am trying hard to ignore my current bleeding......if i ignore it, it might go away! just cant think about it and worry about it anymore....i am going to try SO hard to chill out until my scan next week. what good can worrying do hey? (if only it was as easy as i make it sound)

welcome on here fettle! - you will have to update your name before coming back!

kezza - glad you like my shrine! i have done about 4 more since i took the photo too! and i have saved them all! am i a weirdo?

MrsMcJnr · 14/02/2007 15:13

Thanks MumpBump

Hi Kezza ? poor you with that cold, touch wood, I managed to kick it into touch a few weeks ago. Thank you for your thoughts for me. Very of you getting to crawl back under the blanket this morning.

Hello thehairybabysmum ? I still so love that name! Your M&S rule makes good sense. I know pre-prepared salads are meant to be off the menu but I felt safe having a pasta bowl from there. That said, cheese is a biggie with me, my Mum had listeria when she was pregnant with my sister (I was 9) and I still remember the awful ulcers she got and how much weight she lost, it was scary. That said, it was brie that had been frozen, melted and re-frozen and thawed ? nasty!

J20 ? that?s great news about your scan result!! I?m so delighted for you. So what?s your EDD and are you having to take iron tablets? Incredible that you saw the HB, wow!!

Greedy ? I know worrying does no good but it?s hard not to isn?t it? I wanted to keep some of my tests but they faded .

buffythenappyslayer · 14/02/2007 16:55

hi everyone!

went to see gp today, had blood taken, full blood count and also thyroid levels,it went up and down like a yo-yo last time, and i lost 3 stone!so gp said she wants to keep extra eye on it.blood pressure is low,ive been feeling dizzy,so that explains that!!

having trouble sleeping, woke up at 3am,got out of bed at 5am and cleaned the kitchen!!!

im hungry all teh time, but when i eat,im sick!!

had only felt sick up until this morning, but tahts now changed, and i have lovely brown burst blood vessels on my neck and eye lids!!

told gp i want a c section,(number 4 was emergency c section, number 5 was natural, but oh my god it hurt when she went under my scar,)and the thought of that pain again,is scaring the poo out of me!!!i can cope with teh cntractions, but last time i had a 22 hour labour aswell as teh scar pain!!

so she has referred me to the consultant but isnt hoepful i'll get what i want though.

has anyone else asked for a c section and got one?

buffythenappyslayer · 14/02/2007 16:56

oh,also told gp that if i get a c section,i want to be sterilised, but again she said it probably wont happen, saying "after birth your uterus goes to big and baggy and they dont like to sterilise straight after birth because of it!"

tehn she said my uterus will be very baggy anyway cos ive had so many sproglings!!!nice lady eh!!!

buffythenappyslayer · 14/02/2007 16:58

greedy, since last week i have now tested 8 times!!just to make sure you know!!!also had to show dh that they were all possitive!!!all 8 of em!!!
