My date came in the post about a week after my first scan and my blood results came 16 days after. My 12 week scan was actually at 14 weeks though.

tiredmumrighthere · 03/06/2016 09:08

Ahh lovely pics Bob congrats x

coppergrey · 03/06/2016 09:48

They booked me in for my 20w at my 12w. Hope you hear soon, fedup!

Husband and I are thinking of booking a holiday in September... our last as 'just us' for a while. I'll be 7 months pregnant by then... it'll be a lounging by the pool not doing very much sort of holiday, and in Croatia so it won't be boiling hot. What does everyone think - presuming that I have no complications between now and then (which I think our travel insurance will cover and refund us if we can't go), will I be up for it?

Probably impossible to tell as who knows how things will go. But opinions very welcome!

smellsofelderberries · 03/06/2016 10:41

Sounds lovely Copper!! How long is the flight? That would be my only concern at that stage.

The cravings have kicked in and I cannot get enough OJ, tomatoes, and I ate an entire (small) watermelon in 24 hours Grin best thing ever!

DH's offer letter came through for the Sydney job! Still need to negotiate a few things but looks like we might be shipping out early to mid August Shock which is great, as it'll be after I apply for my maternity allowance but not when I'm too far along. We've also decided we're going to stop in Singapore for a few nights to break up the flight. Starting to get excited through the nerves!

coppergrey · 03/06/2016 10:46

Thanks smells - flight is 2h50m so not too bad at all, reckon I could handle that with a bit of walking about! Also there's a hospital 20mins from our hotel should I need it, so that's really reassured me. Think I'll book it!

Great news about your DH's job - how exciting!

almondbutter · 03/06/2016 10:53

smells I used to live in Singapore so let me know if you'd like any tips for your trip and we can message off group. Sydney gig sounds so exciting.

Ameilius · 03/06/2016 11:12

Congrats for a boy bob!

And yay smells! That sounds so exciting, really hope the negotiations go well (I saw your thread on the living overseas board when I was there earlier). We were in Singapore on our honeymoon and I loved the city.

I agree with Smells, Copper I'd only be worried about the flight length (but 2,50 doesn't seems that long). We had a little city break at about 7 or 8 months that was a 2hr flight away and it was fine. Lots of lazying about and good food - it was great!

Poor you Almond it must be awful to suddenly have to think about cutting down on work when you need to save for maternity! I did quite a bit of admin/marking lying down last time when I was feeling rotten - if you're at home you might be able to try that?

I'm starting to get twinges of heartburn.. I was feeling very sorry for myself yesterday feeling sick in the morning and then heartburny at night! I'm going to cut back on tomato-based sauces as I think that was the trigger..

Bollyroo · 03/06/2016 13:38

Copper, do it! We're going to head off somewhere but I'm a bit cautious about where Zika is spreading. Plenty of time to think about it before September though.

So, interesting new symptom... Was just brushing my teeth and somehow I've got a massive hole in the middle of my tongue. It started bleeding profusely then a few tastebuds fell out! What on earth?! It's felt a bit sore the last couple of days. I didn't even touch my tongue with the brush. Very weird. Anyone else had this? Disgusting bloody mouth now eugh!

Jamjar12 · 03/06/2016 14:12

They booked my next scan at the 12w one too. Thought it was a much better way of doing it as we got to discuss dates and times rather than just being given a slot like with the 12w one!

Aww Copper, I'm jealous- we went to Croatia for our honeymoon at the end of August last year. We stayed in Dubrovnik :) We both found it very hot though and constantly ducked into the hotel for the air con or in the water to cool off. It wasn't a muggy heat like some countries but whenever we tried to take a walk anywhere or visit the town, we were sweating buckets!

mrsdane · 03/06/2016 15:11

We're also looking at maybe Portugal for a quick babymoon later this month/July. Just want one last lazy holiday before it all changes forever...

Just back from midwife appointment and heard the heartbeat, was wonderful!

Fedupithink · 03/06/2016 15:57

Thanks everyone, think I'll ask the midwife on Wednesday what the deal is with the scan date but I do seem to remember I received my 12w one a while after most of you did.

One last baby free holiday sounds fab, I'd just beware of the temperature. It's late 20's here now and I've had to spend a lot more time than usual in the shade/indoors.

I'm debating Portugal in September too tho, we go most years and it will be our last opportunity baby-free for a while!

Thurlow · 03/06/2016 16:05

Go for the holidays, all of you who can! I really regret not having a decent break with DP before DD was born. We're off in a few weeks to sunny Norfolk with a newly whiny 4.5yo and friends and their 4mo with reflex, steam trains and crabbing and babysitting is not exactly the same Wink

Has anyone tried the nub theory? I've just amused myself with it and it seems to predict a girl. Unless I'm reading it quite wrong!

bobcat85 · 03/06/2016 16:57

I got my 20 week scan date at my 12 week scan Fedup.

We're going away with some friends to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. We might try and get away somewhere nearby in England in September as I'll be on maternity leave then and won't have to worry about taking holiday.

Spottyladybird · 03/06/2016 17:12

The radiographer booked my 20 week at my 12 week and asked if there was a preferred day etc.

LadyFarnborough · 03/06/2016 22:27

I had to book my own 20 week appointment as well as 16 week midwife. Good job a midwife at the hospital mentioned it in passing after my 12 week scan otherwise I'd still be waiting for an appointment in the post!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 03/06/2016 23:07

I booked my 20w scan at the end of my 12w one, But have too book my midwife appts via gp surgery.

CakeAndChocolate · 04/06/2016 07:22

I find it amazing how the processes are so different across the country. You would have thought this sort of thing would be standardised.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Scanxiety has started to kick in for me before our private scan on Monday lunchtime!

needanewjob · 04/06/2016 21:24

Had a girly shopping day with one of my best friends today as previous experience has taught me that once bubba arrives it'll be difficult to manage for a little while. I'd really recommend making the most of some grown up treats before the haze of sleepless nights and feeding times descend!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and have a very very definite bump now!

bobcat85 · 04/06/2016 21:36

How's everyone's bumps coming along? I'm 16+4 and my bump has suddenly appeared. I was off work this week and just tried a work top on that fitted two weeks ago and now it fits weirdly due to bump and have to wear a longer shirt underneath.

needanewjob · 04/06/2016 21:41

bob I'm the same. Having to review clothing daily now as a lot of my to;s don't really fit properly at all now

bobcat85 · 04/06/2016 21:48

Same here Need, I'm rotating between two shirts at the moment. Might have to pick up some cheap maternity shirts soon.

smellsofelderberries · 04/06/2016 22:44

+1 on tops looking weird. I can still 'suck in' my bump but it's tiring/uncomfortable to do it for too long.

I can feel my little one occasionally now, from the outside. If I lie on my back and I poke around where my uterus is, sometimes there will be a little firm lump. Nothing there right now but it was there this afternoon. The fact that it moves around makes me think it's baby! Sometimes it's about the size of a salad tomato, sometimes it's long and skinny. Can't feel any movement yet from the outside though.

smellsofelderberries · 04/06/2016 22:48

Sorry, the lump moves position at different times of the day. Sometimes it's over to the right, sometimes on the left! My pp was a bit unclear.

funkky · 04/06/2016 23:12

fed up I was meant to get my scan letter through the post but never did. Had to call them Thursday and was booked for 8am Friday morning! No apologies - just must have got it mixed up. I suggest calling if you still not got it.
Meant I was the first and only one there- didn't know about no children rule and had dh and 2 yr old with me. He was very good though.
Scan lady thinks it's a girl-80% but apparently her bits seemed swollen Shockso couldn't say 100%
I'm in shock as I was mentally prepared to have another boy but just grateful now for a healthy baby.

Slumberparty · 05/06/2016 02:17

Hi all hope you're all having a good weekend. I went out for a posh lunch yesterday for a friend's birthday and had a glass of champagne. It's the first drink I've had since I found out I was pregnant and it was delicious!!!
