But it is the same test? I wonder if they don't do the calculations or they just don't show you the results. I'm having the full set on Thursday. I've already had the blood tests, so we should get the results immediately. If the results are high risk we will be offered harmony rather than an amino, so I hadn't even thought about not having them all. We've had very vague discussions about what we'd do, but haven't come to any conclusions. I think we might make different decisions now we have DS, as our decisions will have such an impact on him.

I've no idea I'm afraid Solomon. If we were offered harmony instead of an amnio our decision might have been different.

It's such a personal decision, what's right for us might be wrong for another couple.

Yeah, the harmony option makes a big difference. It's a trial throughout the Netherlands, offering it instead of amino to anyone whose risk is higher than 1 in 200. Though harmony still isn't as accurate as amino, so I guess if it comes back high risk people still have to make the amnio decision. And then you end up with Drs with much less experience of performing amnios, which increases the risk.

Question: when is it acceptable to start wearing maternity jeans? I'm only 10 weeks but can no longer fit in to my jeans without feeling very uncomfortable after 20 min or so

I'm 11+5 and I have been wearing maternity jeans since 8 weeks!

So just had my 12 week scan! All was looking good and baby was very lively. My risk for downs was 1 in 6950 which I was told was very low so fingers crossed for a health baby! Just had fish and chips and getting ready for a night at work now! Good luck to everyone else with scans this week

Had my 12 week scan. Baby turned its back right at the start, plus my uterus hasn't popped out enough (retroverted) so they couldn't get any measurements. Back next week for another scan. Baby had a lovely strong heartbeat.

Congrats babydreaming and southdowns on your healthy scans (although a shame your baby was being a pickle southdowns).

I am ashamed to say I am officially am imposter on this thread with a new due date of 28th November. I'm hoping you all won't mind if I stick around though!

Baby was all fine although a bit of a fidget so sonographer struggled to get good pics!

Oh and I've been in maternity jeans / trousers for weeks!

I'm just back from a very sunny Barcelona and had my scan this morning... Due date changed to 28 Nov (but I'll stay with you ladies even though I guess I'll deliver early). They dated me at exactly 13 weeks which is two days earlier...

Here's the pic...

Baby was very active but all seems to be fine. Just waiting for blood results which take approx. 10 days. Telling the grandparents today, one lot down, one lot had gone out so need to catch them before I collect DS from after-school club (telling all kids together but have to wait until June because of holidays etc!).

It's all a lot more real now!

Thanks Ladies! Saw some rather fashionable, non-dowdy, may jeans quite cheap at H&M so will go back tomorrow!

I'm on holiday in Lanzarote at the moment. The weather is glorious. I'm eating far too much of the lovely bread though. I keep telling myself it's not so bad as I'd usually be drinking loads of wine

I've also dug my maternity clothes out and bought a couple of bits from Next. Oh and some bigger bras

Congratulations to everyone on the scans! I love seeing how different they look already. We got one of the baby facing the scanner when it rolled over and it's so weird to see the alien face.

I am feeling like I might just kill my husband today! Not sure if he's being particularly annoying or if my tolerance level has dropped overnight. I'm a little cranky I know but someone give me strength please!!

Awww lovely scan pictures ladies. So nice to hear that you had good scans. I'm getting very nervous and scared about mine on Thursday its all I can think about. I hope everything everything okay and I get a lovely picture!

Ah the alien face! I remember at my first scan with DS the sonographer was looking for him then out of the darkness came this triangular alien face - gave me the shock of my life!

I'm trying to hold out on buying maternity clothes Til after scan, although jeans are feeling a bit tight at times - I haven't put on any weight yet though just keep moving up and down within the same kilo, even though I feel like my stomach has definitely expanded!

I've been disappeared for a while and it seems there's been a whole thread I've missed. So sorry for all the sad news for so many recently.

We had our 12 week scan today and sticking with 10th December as the date despite the baby measuring ahead. Cutting down sugar hoping to avoid gestational diabetes. I seem to have gained a lot of weight since my last pregnancy :(

Thankfully low risk for all three trisomies and risk below 1 in 1000 for all after last time any risk above that would not be reassuring. Totally understand your decision South not to screen for t18 or t13. Combined screening is really inaccurate for both and so is Harmony for T13 especially

I would like to just say though to whoever said it that neither t18 nor t13 are 'incompatible with life' the oldest survivor with T18 was 50 and not sure with T13 but definitely over 30. Not very incompatible with life.

I have a blog www.rumersrainbow.co.uk with UK t18 info and there is livingwithtrisomy13.org for t13 info if anyone wants more info about either. Also children with rare trisomies don't die in pain well not unless you starve them to death as I saw recently. These are severely life limiting but not intrinsically painful conditions

Sorry I just feel a need to give accurate t18 info when it's brought up I knew so little about it before DC1 was diagnosed.

Hi again, due date is 20/12/16, that's ivf 8 weeks scan date, got midwife appointment next Friday then 12 weeks scan the Thursday after, all the letters arrived on Saturday, seems so surreal seeing 'congratulations on your pregnancy' at the top of the letter!! I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow, double figures already, how did that happen!!

That was me Hiding, it's not something I pretend to know much about, I'm just repeating what my midwife told me. Thanks for the extra info through. Personally, I'm not thinking too far ahead at the moment, any big decisions will be made once I have a risk 'rating' from the screen. I am generally very pro- life though so agree these decisions shouldn't be taken lightly.

Hi everyone, I'm newly addicted to mumsnet and didn't even know the birth threads existed! Am I too late to join?? My second baby is due 4 Dec, although I've got a scan tomorrow so I'll know better then!

No problem IWL was what I thought at diagnosis ;and I am a midwife) Learned a lot since then! Just conditions that so few people know much about which leads to denial of treatment and more deaths. I just feel a drive now to inform people about them especially t18, it's my specialist subject!
