Cross post lotsofdots!

LotsofDots · 25/06/2016 17:13

Yes, our nursery were fine with using them too. I sent in a wet bag in the morning with clean ones in, and they popped the dirty/wet ones in the bag to bring home. The nursery nurses really liked them, and a couple of them asked me quite a lot about them as they were planning to use them themselves afterwards!

LotsofDots · 25/06/2016 17:15

Another cross post!

Any other early-Augusters (I'm 34w2d) getting period-style cramps and increase in Braxton Hicks? I feel like my period is due!

MrsPMT23 · 25/06/2016 18:16

Yes definitely Sophia I hadn't experienced any Braxton Hicks until a few weeks ago but now also getting cramps particularly at the end of the day and at night. Just feeling generally so uncomfortable!

Also experiencing terrible nipple pain, had me in tears this morning! No leaking yet though, feels like my nipples are on fire.

MrsPMT23 · 25/06/2016 18:20

Lots and Owl thanks for the insights on cloth nappies too, planning to use them.

MrsSantaClause · 25/06/2016 20:14

Yes sophia it's panicking me slightly due to the placenta previa, but seems to wear off after a bit!! My next scan and obs appt can't come quick enough-I want to know what they're going to do!

M2B816 · 25/06/2016 20:18

Hi ladies, is this normal for whooping cough vaccination? I had that on Thursday and the dr was really rough and doesn't care less of how painful it was. I shouted OWW! and asked if that's normal she said yes and let me go. It's now warm and swollen. I don't remember having any vaccine like that before Angry

I just bought a few mio solo singular reusable nappies from morrisons at £10 each which I'm gonna try out reusables as I really want to use reusables but don't want to buy in a whole load till I'm sure.

I'm due 6th Aug and also having quite a few Braxton hicks. Got my first visit from the health visitor coming up in 10 days too.

Loving being on mat leave! It feels so different to a normal weekend ha!

Fizzyboo · 25/06/2016 20:44

Oh and Mrs did your mini rear seats look like this? With the deep scoop? Was it quite a solid fit? Going back out tomorrow to search further, feeling hopeful about the britax baby safe and base now as it says it fits my model on their site!

Sophia yes, and awful aching at the bottom of my bump in the evening. The cankles have arrived too.

I'm also a cloth user, love them! The nappy lady quiz is really good, plus I think she does tester packs of different types for you to rent and try out. Most pocket nappies won't fit until they go into 0-3 size clothes. Last time we used a mix of muslin squares and naty biodegradables until then. I'm hoping this time I'll be able to borrow a set of newborn pocket nappies from my friend. I love them! I've got new wet bags this time too...overly excited about getting it all out again.

Are any of you getting any tiny baby size clothes? Last time even though DS was 75% his newborn clothes were HUGE! I'm just not sure if I should bother or live with the over big clothes?

Biscuitswithtea · 25/06/2016 22:08

Pickle we had a similar experience - and so still have tiny baby clothes that were panic bought when ds was 3 days old. Am not intending on buying extra until we see what size and shape this baby is though. Even if you do need smaller clothes, newborn size would be fine for the first day or two until someone got to a shop surely?

We bought bum genius nappies off ebay. They were in great nick, ds was in them for c 1 year and they will be fine for this baby too.

Braxton Hick central here too. Def worse at the end of the day (probably because I've been busy all day) though was woken up in the middle of the night by them earlier this week. Uncomfortable but also very normal.

rumisyum · 25/06/2016 22:12

Another cloth nappy user. Love them. We do currently use a mix as our childminder prefers disposables, but they were brilliant in the early days - never had a poonami explosion! They are great for containment. Another recommendation for The Nappy Lady website's questionnaire, really helpful.

Owlina, how have you got on with TotsBots Easyfits longer term? We found that the waterproofing on ours started to wear out, so we've had to invest in another lot of daytime nappies, which was a pain. Went for a mix this time, but mostly Bumgenius. Can't work out if we did something wrong, as we used their recommended detergent & washing instructions. Hmm

rumisyum · 25/06/2016 22:18

Pickle we've been given a few 2nd hand first size things, but I don't plan to buy any more. My DS seemed to outgrow the few things we had in that size in days? And this baby feels bigger, though that may be my imagination... I'm going to wait & see & buy as needed after we've met the little one.

I have so uncomfortable all day today. Feeling really stretched & like the bump weighs a ton. Also starting to get some very uncomfortable lower back ache & beginning to waddle... I'm guessing baby's having a growth spurt & maybe starting to engage in my pelvis. Lordy. I'd forgotten how uncomfortable late pregnancy can be sometimes. Have resorted to lying in the bath, as it's the only place I can get some relief!

OwlinaTree · 25/06/2016 22:23

rumisyum haven't noticed an issue with waterproofing degrading. I wash them with a small scoop of napisan and I use non bio washing tablets, but I only use one although the dose is 2. I don't wash them in the toys bots potion!

M2B my jab went like that for a couple of days, then it went down.

rumisyum · 25/06/2016 22:39

Hmm, should have stuck with napisan!

MrsZumbaDancer · 26/06/2016 07:13

fizzy no not quite the same styling.. Mine was an 06 reg but they were similar. Play around with seats til you're happy.

Do you have an independent retailer nearby? Theyre usually pretty good at giving honest advice about fitting. Isofix will always provide the most secure fitting due to the way it locks into the car but that doesn't mean belted isn't safe- they do sometimes have a slight wobble but the inertia from seatbelt works fine.

Have you searched the Mini forum? I'm sure there's discussions about car seats on there..

Fizzyboo · 26/06/2016 09:50

Thanks Mrs. Yep been on the mini forums, that's where I thought I'd found the maxi cosi perfect seat... Researched for hours and hours yesterday, today I am going out and not giving up till I've found something... Sorry shop staff! I fear you'll loathe me!
High hopes for the cybex cloud and britax baby safe today!

Christinedonna · 26/06/2016 10:32

I agree with biscuits, it doesn't hurt them to be in too big for a day or two, whereas you'll kick yourself for pre buying tiny baby bits that you'll never get to use. Also feeling your pain (literally) with the bottom of the bump pain ESPECIALLY in the morning when my bladders full and there's no room for anything.

Sophia1984 · 26/06/2016 12:22

Thanks for the reassurance everyone, but sorry you're suffering too.

I'm fine and baby is fine, but spent lovely evening in MAU last night! Had been having period pains in lower abdomen and back plus constant
Braxton Hicks all day so gave them a ring at 7, said to take some paracetamol and ring back. Cramps still there at 8.30 so toddled off (which involves half hour on bus!). Of course as soon as I get there my whole stomach softens and no BH! Hooked up to monitor which tells them in ten minutes that baby's heartrate is spot on. Couldn't wait around to see Dr (two surgeries going on!) and had to almost run for last bus, which set off horrendous SPD and had to practically be carried home and up the stairs by DP. Good to know my uterus is getting lots of practice in I suppose!

Santa I don't think BH are a worry with placenta previa - just if you get really painful cramps or bleeding.

Fizzyboo · 26/06/2016 16:34

Yay!!!! I am with car seat! The cybex Aton and base, solid as a rock, and a fitter who knew her stuff!! Light years from the maxi cosi fit that rocked around all over the show.
And just as a lovely bonus, when she scanned the base through the till, instead of the £110 it was listed as, it came up as £33! And that's what I paid for it! (Sadly the seat still went through at £175, but how excellent eh?) Went from being in a super pissy mood (SUPER pissy) to sunshine and giggling almost instantly!

MrsSantaClause · 26/06/2016 16:46

It wasn't the bh I was worried about, just that they were getting stronger-didn't want them to turn into real contractions!

MrsZumbaDancer · 26/06/2016 20:38

Glad you got sorted fizzy 😊

OwlinaTree · 26/06/2016 20:58

Glad you got the seat sorted fizzy.

Glad you are back home and all is well Sophia.

We've had friends over this weekend, been really lovely. House back to normal now and had a harvester for tea so v. full!

PickleBot · 26/06/2016 22:16

I can't stop crying, 4 weeks to go and I'm terrified about the world my little girl will be born into. 3 weeks ago it seemed impossible that it would be acceptable for people to be shouting racist abuse in the street and asking hard working people when they will be sent back home. I feel like this horrible nightmare has taken my joy and replaced it with worry and fear. What is happening to my wonderfully moderate country? I don't want my children growing up in this horrible atmosphere.
