A heads up to anyone going to formal event, I just bought this...took a week to get the courage to even try it on and it's hideous! Back to the drawing board I go...waah! Just thought I'd save anyone looking on ASOS not to get this one! Looked like a muumuu tent!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 23/05/2016 21:14

Dileas I would try seraphine, I bought a couple from ASOS and found them all quite badly fitting. I got three from seraphine and it was difficult to make myself send two back! I could have kept them all.

Dileas29 · 24/05/2016 02:47

alfie will do thank you! Smile

Hello from rather damp sunny Holland! We are having our first day at out camping bungalow today and it's so chilled out. DS is outside in the massive sandpit with his bucket and spade, DH has his book and I decided to catch up with you ladies. I can't believe I'm nearly 30 weeks now. I've decided to go for a section, I had a really good session with my lactation consultant who suggested writing a birth plan to specify some things to get bf established from the beginning. She suggested I do some reading about natural or skin to skin sections and its really interesting!

Ava Dorothy Perkins have some plus size maternity too, but it's only avaliable online and irritatingly you can't even return to store! I've got stuff from eBay, next and jojo

For the cloth nappy people, I used bumgenius pockets last time with a few little lambs fir night time when DS got bigger. Although fit is important, I think half the battle is in correct washing and use to make sure they stay absorbant. I have loads of tips now after 2.5 years of trial and error so any questions then just ask. I will write something with a few things I wish I'd know later as I'm getting pestered to go and look at DS's museum now.

Sophia1984 · 24/05/2016 10:59

Apparently I have an ANL appointment today - any idea what that is?! Consultant?

Sophia1984 · 24/05/2016 11:01

Ah - bad handwriting - it's ANC so I'm guessing antenatal consultant :-) That would be the chap who determined I didn't have any anxiety problems because I 'seemed chatty and smiley' Hmm

PickleBot · 24/05/2016 12:44

Wow sounds like he needs to improve his bedside manner!

Kstar8 · 24/05/2016 14:33

Aahhh Sophia, you obviously didn't do enough head clutching and rocking back and forth in that appointment! Wink
I'm still annoyed by my ward notes when I went in for excruciating pain caused by fibroids. They wrote "says pain is 7/10 but sitting comfortably in bed" ......I wasn't sitting comfortably, I was holding my breath through the pain and sat up for five minutes whilst they did the ward round out of politeness! Angry

allergictodiets · 25/05/2016 08:44

Hello everyone! I'm due on the 23rd of August, baby girl. Feeling like an elephant.

bearhuggy · 25/05/2016 11:23

welcome allergic, nice to have you here and congrats on your baby girl!

sorry for those receiving crappy service from healthcare peeps, thats not cool. soph I hope you had a better appointment yesterday?

I have another midwife one tomorrow, will be almost 31 weeks so I would imagine it's another poke around, blood pressure, pee test etc?!

feeling very pregnant this week and having to really allow myself extra time walking to and from places as I am much slower than I used to be!!

Just ordered our co-sleeper cot and plan on spending this weekend going through my checklist of everything else we need in advance. Annoyingly looks like our house move is going to be pushed back until after the Brexit vote, so will be cutting things very fine and feeling like I need to prepare more now whilst I have some free weekends !!

How's everyone else doing this week?

bearhuggy · 25/05/2016 11:24

also thoughts on buying an electric breast pump second hand... unhygienic?!

Kstar8 · 25/05/2016 12:19

Hi bear, can I ask what co-sleeper cot you purchased?
I'm trying to decide what to get and am thinking of renting a bednest.
Also interested to hear any answers in relation to your question about breast pumps....

bearhuggy · 25/05/2016 12:55

Hey Kstar

I went for the BabyBay co-sleeper in the end which was recommended by a few people. It also converts into a bench / desk afterwards for the nursery which is quite sweet!

I found a good deal from here if you are interested - www.amazon.de/babybay-100112-Original-bel%C3%BCftet-Beistellbett/dp/B007NZHY04?ie=UTF8&keywords=babybay&qid=1460077950&ref_=sr_1_1&s=baby&sr=1-1

I then bought this natural mattress - www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Green-Sheep-Natural-Mattress/dp/B008G020WC?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B008G020WC&linkCode=as2&redirect=true&ref_=as_li_tl&tag=amyanto-21

I read up about the bednest but stumbled across a horror story which put me off! But think they have changed the safety instructions to prevent similar accidents happening.

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 25/05/2016 16:22

bear not so good with the move being pushed back.

sophia how was the consultant?

I got my bloods back from last week today and my iron and red blood count are low. I managed to convince the doc to prescribe liquid iron instead of tablets. Tablets would not help my pile situation at the moment. Blush

bearhuggy · 25/05/2016 16:41

Tell me about it alfie not ideal !! But the Brexit situation has thrown up all kinds of uncertainty and our buyers are nervous. Fingers crossed it's just a waiting game and we will be good to complete end of June Confused

My iron was low at my last test, I don't know by how much (will find out tomorrow when I see MW) but I have been taking this which I hope has helped !! www.amazon.co.uk/Viridian-100-Organic-Liquid-Iron-200ml/dp/B00WSUE7NG

Still taking my prenatal complex and DHA. Is everyone else still taking supplements??

Sophia1984 · 25/05/2016 17:28

Alifie This one was great, thanks :-) Had a student doctor see me first who practised her bump-measuring skills on me! Consultant very nice but still kind of determined that I was ok. I think unless you're curled up in a weeping mess on the floor they tend to conclude this! She's signed me off consultant care cause she's happy that I'm seeing the psychiatrist again and am getting CBT. Makes sense, as she's not a mental health specialist. May well be back on consultant care if my placenta doesn't move though, so who know? Pregnancy is actually helping my anxiety in a way in that I can't control so many things that I just have to have faith!

bexh83 · 25/05/2016 17:59

bear Im having my SIL's Medela breast pump - so effectively second had - im replacing the shield, mothercare did spares/extra sizes.

Still taking a supplement - Boots pregnancy support as I could see much difference between these and more expensive Pregnancare ones.

lilygirl81 · 25/05/2016 18:14

Hi all, sorry I've been AWOL so long, I don't think I'll get through all I've missed!!

I had a week down with my sister looking after her twins, that was exhausting, but I'm now confident we can deal with one baby!!

Baby-wise things are going well, although got a bit freaked out when the midwife told me the head was engaged when I went in to get reduced movements monitored. Ever since the baby has been kicking lumps out my insides which is reassuring but very uncomfortable.

I've also gone back to work on very reduced hours, will see how that goes, just doing 4 hours a day, 3 days this week and building up to 5, though doubt I will manage that.

I'm sorry some of you are having a rough time with your care, it sounds really hot and miss some places

PickleBot · 25/05/2016 19:33

bear last time I got a manual avent breast pump then brought a second hand electric one one eBay. They use the same bits, you just swap the electric bit for the manual handle, so all the bits that touched skin or milk were new.

Britnyspears · 25/05/2016 20:24

Hey everyone!

Just back from hosp, had no movement for two days which was really worrying me. The midwife listened to heart rate for 15 mins and all good. So relieved!

Asos- i sent back loads of stuff from there too. They use their regular models with a fake bump so the pix of the clothes are totally unrealistic. Grrr! Shapeless tat when you get it on.

Is anyone having extra private scans at this point?

MrsZumbaDancer · 25/05/2016 20:25

bear this article might help, or google open and closed systems kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/buying-a-used-or-new-pump/

Britnyspears · 25/05/2016 20:31

Forgot
allergic welcome! We are almost due the same day. I feel like a whale too!

bear i am still taking Solgar pre natal, half a dose of Solgar omega 3 and one iron tablet a day too. As u can probably tell
I was a supplemnet junkie before pregnancy, this a third of what i used to take Blush

sophia good to hear u are getting support- cbt etc. Is your placenta anterior or previa? (Think those are correct terms!?!)

OwlinaTree · 25/05/2016 21:18

Had an extra scan today, all is well with the baby. 28 weeks tomorrow! I'm so so tired at the mo. Week off next week, much needed. Got swollen ankles at the mo too, anyone else suffering with that?

Britney and allergic I feel huge too, although the baby is measuring small apparently (not worryingly small, but below 50th centile)

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 25/05/2016 21:49

I'm not sure what the name of the iron supplement is but I can still take pregnancy vits too. Hopefully it works quickly because I'm certainly feeling the tiredness!

owl I'm the same with the ankles, have to come home and put my feet up. It's hard to rest them properly though.

lily glad to see you back, and nice to hear everything is going reasonably well. When do they leave your stitch in until?

Sophia1984 · 25/05/2016 22:10

Thanks Britny Brilliant news about baby's heartbeat :-) I've been in for a check up before - it feels horrible when you realise you can't remember last movement, doesn't it? My placenta was low and posterior (at the back) at 20 weeks. I think that makes it slightly less likely to move than if it's anterior, but easier to do a C-section if I need one.

I've been really rubbish at taking my vitamins since the 20 week scan. I think once I had stopped freaking out about folic acid it didn't seem to matter - feel a bit guilty now! I'm also meant to be taking ferrous sulphate as I had low ferritin levels pre-pregnancy, but haven't been great at those either and my iron levels were fine at 28 weeks.

Has anyone else got pelvic pain? Mine has got progressively worse over last fortnight and started being actually painful as opposed to uncomfortable today, Feels like I've pulled my groin muscles and been punched there! :-( Finding sleep increasingly difficult what with cramps waking me up and turning over really hurting. Poor DP! Really hope I don't have another 10-12 weeks of this!
