Iam glad the visit was useful, and it sounds like it was definitely worth rearranging so your DH was there.

ILove I'd forgotten someone (you?!) had talked about wheat bags before and I was going to make a rice one for heating up- thank you for the reminder!!

AmI my midwife said something about walking up the stairs sideways to move things along and get the baby in a good position. Seems a bit random but worth a try?!!

This is another random one but has anyone else noticed that their mouth and tongue go numb after eating and for a while afterwards? I've had it for the past week or so (so from about 38 weeks). I've done some googling and looks like it's quite common, but I thought it was such a random pregnancy thing! (to add to all the other random pregnancy things that I had no idea about before Grin)

iamdivergent · 22/05/2016 17:23

I've never noticed that Mollie

Got a big thunder storm threatening, which I love! Pedicure tomorrow too, love some pampering.

Torfhinn · 22/05/2016 20:06

I'm in the most horrendous pain this evening! SPD had been bad for a few days but tonight it's almost spasming. Just been blubbing all over my husband and i literally cannot move Sad. Fear of labour has gone now - at least that pain is finite - i need this to stop! Sorry for the moan.... just needed to get that out.

bikingintherain · 22/05/2016 21:44

torfin I really feel your pain (quite literally). Take paracetamol as much as you need/ dose allows and try either ice or heat to help ease the pain, and rest rest rest. I had 36 hours bed rest this week when I got that bad and it did help, it's not solved now but is definitely improved.

Spock27 · 22/05/2016 21:52

Torf I know how you feel! Mine was manageable until a couple of weeks ago and now it's just constant pain. Even sitting down hurts Sad I hope you're on mat leave and can rest at home? And I second the ice - baths used to really help me but now it's ice for some reason. I didn't find physio helped at all but some people find that they do, or a private osteopath if you can afford it. Hope it gets a bit better soon!

Torfhinn · 22/05/2016 21:54

Thanks biking, it has settled a bit now. That was bad for a while there! I'm saving the paracetamol for bedtime and have got lots of childcare sorted for this week so will try to rest up. Sorry you are suffering too.

Torfhinn · 22/05/2016 21:57

Thanks for the advice spock, i didn't have this in my first pregnancy and the intensity has shocked me. I am on mat leave - 38 weeks today!

sambababy · 22/05/2016 23:32

Good luck inside!

Wondering if I can ask something very tmi Blush My whole downstairs area is swollen it looks horrible! It's been like this for a couple of months. Looks darker in colour too. Did a bit of googling and people talk about varicose veins but I don't think it's that, it's just kind of puffy and when I sit on the loo I feel lots of pressure so maybe that's part of it. Anyone? I seem to remember a bit of swelling last time but not to this extent. I wanted to be brave and get a wax before due date but I'm too embarrassed now!

Eastend2015 · 22/05/2016 23:56

samba- yup! It isn't as bad now as it was a few weeks ago. Pelvic floor exercises seem to help, maybe by improving the blood flow?!

MindfulBear · 23/05/2016 03:03

Hi samba don't worry sounds quite normal.

Mine seems to be caused by piles.... Lots of them!!!

I also think increased blood flow to the area plus pressure of baby just means there is more pressure in that area and less space.

It's horrid isn't it? If you are worried please speak to your MW. They may be able to suggest something - I did read somewhere that practicing your pelvic floor exercises can help but it can also increase blood flow so not sure I am up for it!!!

I am having a wax in a couple of weeks and am hoping that she will have seen all this before so will not be phased.....

insideout · 23/05/2016 07:20

Morning all. Baby was born yesterday lunchtime weighing an amazing 4lb 11oz! He is doing really well but is struggling with regulating his temperature and has to have a feeding tube. I only got 10 minutes with him yesterday so am really looking forward to some extended skin-to-skin cuddles today!

Definitely need to stay in hospital this week but we are confident that he will be ready to leave hospital before I am!

emma85x · 23/05/2016 07:53

Huge congratulations inside he is absolutely gorgeous!!! What a fab weight as well! How was the birth? Hope you're feeling ok X

So glad to hear he is doing well (and I hope you are too)!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

bikingintherain · 23/05/2016 08:43

Congratulations inside. Such good news that he is doing well.

How are you doing? Has the pre eclampsia gone now or is it still playing up? I hope you're getting all the care you need.

laughingGnomette · 23/05/2016 08:55

insideout - wow! Congratulations on the arrival of your beautiful baby!! I hope you feel better soon and get to have lots of skin to skin xx

samba - I've had this both times. Did pelvic floor exercises religiously with my first pregnancy, not at all with this one and it hasn't been any better or worse. I just put it down to that area getting ready for the onslaught of a vaginal birth!

Snowflake16 · 23/05/2016 09:16

Congratulations inside glad to hear he is doing so well Flowers

AmIseeingRight · 23/05/2016 09:17

Congratulations inside and very happy to hear that he will is strong and should be ready to go home soon Flowers

insideout · 23/05/2016 09:17

PE still playing up but it should settle pretty soon, baby was back to back but my amazing consultant managed to turn him at delivery( thankfully I insisted on an epidural as soon as possible as once it got going, it was quick)

cautiousoptimist1 · 23/05/2016 09:34

Congratulations inside, hope you both recover quickly and you get more time with him today.

Torfhinn · 23/05/2016 09:35

Congratulations inside, so glad it went well! Fx for a speedy recovery for you both and that you are home soon Flowers

Eastend2015 · 23/05/2016 09:44

strawberrypenguin · 23/05/2016 10:24

Congratulations inside he's lovely and such a good weight. Hope you get lots of cuddles soon and that you're starting to feel better too.

Just had scan to confirm little guy is head down (which he is) so we're all set for induction tomorrow. Just need to give the house a good tidy today!

JulieBolton79 · 23/05/2016 10:53

Congrats inside! Hope you and baby are well.
Torf I'm suffering with SPD too Confused apparently though it may mean your body is producing plenty of relaxin which helps with birth so it may help in the long run. We can but hope!
Samba I'm not swollen but very itchy down there Shock I'm itchy everywhere though but particularly there. Maybe it's a blood flow thing? Itching worse now than ever been checked for OC it's not that so hoping for that to stop when baby arrives.
