talcott how exciting! Hope you're not kept waiting too long!

strawberrypenguin · 21/05/2016 09:33

How are you and the girls doing chilli

You still in hospital too inside how's your bp?

Was woken up this morning by little guy kicking me in the ribs so hard I swear I could almost hear it!

Violet88 · 21/05/2016 12:01

Iamdivergent my midwife did all the usual checks BP, urine, measured baby etc when she did my homebirth visit.

Those taking the raspberry leaf tea, did you start with one cup a day for a few days/a week and then build it up?

Torfhinn · 21/05/2016 12:38

Hope all is going well with you and your girls chilli

dollydaydream84 · 21/05/2016 13:04

I can't find the link in the old thread sorry. Did anyone get a strep b home swab kit? If so where from? Thanks in advance

cautiousoptimist1 · 21/05/2016 13:51

Hope everything is well with our new mummies and little ones.

I have one week left to work. After my anxiety earlier this week, I've been spurred into action to sort my hospital bag so baby clothes are now being washed. They're all so small and cute! I'll hopefully get them dried today and then bag can be packed tomorrow.

iamdivergent · 21/05/2016 14:02

Please tell me other people have hospital suitcases Grin hopefully won't need mine but packed it just in case all doesn't go to plan and it's full! I thought better one suitcase rather than two/three bags

mrsmugoo · 21/05/2016 14:14

Yes mine is a little wheelie suitcase - it's smaller than my soft sided hold-all anyway.
It's not got a lot in it but maternity pads and nappies takes up quite a bit of space!

GrubbyWindows · 21/05/2016 14:16

I've just packed mine- it's a big carry on size hold-all, it would be a suitcase except the only one we have is absolutely huge!
Also hoping not to need it, and assuming that if I do, and I'm in for more than a day or so, DP can top me up with essentials...
Now just need to sort out a bag of towels and shower curtains (in lieu of waterproof sheets) for the plan a of staying put!

earlgreydrinker · 21/05/2016 14:19

iam Ive got a small overnight suitcase and the baby's change bag. I wanted it all in one bag and it's on wheels so no carrying needed :-)

Have just thought though that i have only packed pyjamas. I suppose I might also want 'normal' clothes? hopefully i will be out quickly this time not the 5 days I was in last time!

bikingintherain · 21/05/2016 14:22

Definitely put in a set of clean clothes. Chances are the ones you go in will get dirty/sweaty and you probably don't want to go home in your pajamas! Oh and dark colored bottoms are best ( for both pj's and trousers) in case you have a bit of leak post birth.

MindfulBear · 21/05/2016 14:37

Re the raspberry leaf tea - I've been brewing a nettle and raspberry leaf tea concoction in my teapot and then drinking it over the course of a day. I think the recommendation is to start with 1 cup and build up over the week to the whole pot.

I have a small wheelie suitcase but it's not got everything in it yet so Will have to reorganise once my baby bag arrives. (My bargain storksak leather Elizabeth off eBay which is currently having the zip replaced!)

I had PE last time so knew I could be in for a few days. We took 3 bags - incl a cool bag with drinks and snacks. Of course I didn't fancy any of it when the time came so had to send DH to M&S for rations!!!!! I used some of the other stuff but not all of it.

This time I will have the wheelie bag and the baby bag but there will be a 2nd suitcase in the car in case I end up in longer than anticipated: I will still take a cool bag with drinks and snacks but just a small one this time.... Even if the snacks are just for DH! Currently we have jelly babies, coconut water drinks and GF biscuits and GF cereal bars. Not sure I will bother with anything else, except perhaps one of those tiny robinsons squash bottles...... Water can get a bit boring after a while!!!

chillipopcorn1 · 21/05/2016 14:43

Mindful thank you so much that's tons of information - that's so thoughtful of you.
Thanks to everyone's lovely wishes. Today has been a lot better. Emme is off the oxygen, no feeding tube either and she breastfed from me earlier which was amazing. She tires very easily so didn't last for long but I was really pleased to do it. I have also been expressing for both of them (I think there was a cultural crossed wires regarding this - the nurses have since been really helpful) although no one told me how often I would have to do it to keep up my supply so it's quite hard work and they're both getting formula too. I'm hoping that even the little bit I'm managing to give will help. They will try Iris off the feeding tube tomorrow. They are very very gorgeous if impossibly small!

They're beautiful chilli glad to hear they are doing well

bikingintherain · 21/05/2016 16:10

Oh chilli they're beautiful! I'm so pleased you're getting to spend some time with them now. How is your recovering going?

dollydaydream84 · 21/05/2016 16:14

They are absolutely gorgeous chilli - congratulations! Well done for expressing too, it is hard work xx

JulieBolton79 · 21/05/2016 17:00

What a pair of beauty's chilli! Smile good news on the bf all the goodness in the colostrum will really help them both.
I've got two holdalls for the hospital one for me and one for baby. We live quite close to hospital so if need more DH can always pop back.
Woke up last night with awful nausea couldn't sleep, I wouldn't mind I've had zero morning sickness so not sure what's going on there.
I passed my theory test today Smile I've decided me and bambino need to be mobile so feeling pleased with myself.

iamdivergent · 21/05/2016 17:31

grubby you were right. Mw has cancelled because DH was working. She is coming tomorrow now. She got a bit funny when trying to rearrange because DH works f/t and it seemed like she thought he wasn't prioritising the home birth. He can't get time off for my maternity appointments unless he takes them as annual leave. Thankfully she agreed to come.tomorrow morning as she is on call anyway.

GrubbyWindows · 21/05/2016 17:34

Oh chilli what great news! Any milk at all from you is just such a bonus, you mustn't worry (ahem- not that any of us are going to stop worrying ever again now, oh well...). But getting much out after a cesarian can be super tough- so you are doing great!
They are gorgeous!!!

Yay julie! Passing exams this pregnant- extra credit!!!!!

GrubbyWindows · 21/05/2016 17:40

Oops crossed in the post divergent - what a pain! But yay she is coming tomorrow!

JulieBolton79 · 21/05/2016 17:50
