December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Can I join in please too. My EDD is 30th November and team yellow of course x

orchidnap · 05/04/2016 22:24

Hi! just catchng up. Ive had a rubbish week with 2 scans which showed an empty sac, and was told I was having a MMC.

Today they brought me in for another scan, and we saw a baby with a heartbeat!

HidinginPlainS1ght · 06/04/2016 00:27

Orchidnap- that is the best news so happy for you and once you see a heartbeat the odds for a good outcome are so good!

BabyBumpHopeful · 06/04/2016 04:10

Theaks it seems to be the standard procedure. I never got as far as needing anything except metformin (and no mc's). Many moons ago when I thought we were pregnant because I was late, I was told to have a blood test taken and when it was negative, that was the end of that!

Had my blood test today at 14dpo. HCG is 219 and progesterone is 19.4 ng/ml (61.692 nmol/l). Next one is scheduled for Thursday and they want at least 372 ng/ml with that result. If it comes through okay then they'll book the viability scan. So fingers crossed!

I've given some thought to how and when to tell people and I've decided to tell everyone all on the same day (best I can with the time difference anyway). I haven't talked to DH about that yet because he's still in "freak out" mode (and doesn't really talk to me about it) but I assume he'll be fine with that anyway :)

Theaks · 06/04/2016 07:22

Orchidnap that must have been horrible. So glad you got to see a heartbeat.
Welcome feefeefs and Lucy! Congratulations.
Fingers crossed for your next blood test babybumphopeful!

Theaks · 06/04/2016 07:26

I have my scan on Friday- it's getting closer now! I'm looking forward to it now but I know on the day I will be scared.

Yesterday I had horrible sickness up til about 1, was sick twice at work. Luckily I was in the office because my home visit cancelled. Woke up this morning and feel so sick once again! I'm doing a playgroup for kiddies this morning- don't know how I will cope!

SouthDownsSunshine · 06/04/2016 07:33

Great news orchid!

Theaks sorry to hear about your sickness. I'm suffering more and more as well. Went to bed feeling awful - and I ache all over this morning from having been ill. It's so grim, but I'm holding onto the fact that it's a positive sign.

Lots to catch up on as not been able to post for a few days. Have been mad busy at work and having lots of work done to the house (which currently therefore looks like a bombsite and is driving me crazy).

Orchidnap I'm so pleased you got to see a heartbeat. It must have been such an amazing moment after being told they thought you were having a MMC.

My work know I'm pregnant already. I work in a risky job so it was easier to tell people there early on rather than have to make excuses for weeks about why I couldn't do certain things. I've asked them not to make it 'public' yet though.

I'm ashamed to say I'm still drinking real tea. Blush I have about 3-4 a day which I don't think is that much above the recommended limit anyway, and I don't like strong tea anyway so I tend to have it quite weak. I do 14 hours shifts at work and on my days off, like today, DD decided to get up at 5am, so I need the caffeine just to keep me going!

Still feeling a bit confused by my lack of symptoms. I'm exhausted, but that seems to be about it. I've had occasional moments of nausea but they've passed quickly. As much as it's nice (especially compared to pregnancy wih DD where I felt bloody awful for weeks) it does make me a bit anxious that something is wrong. Am considering buying another CB digital to see if he weeks indicator has moved up to 3+ weeks

excitedmummytob · 06/04/2016 08:33

Hi Kit...I'm so pleased to hear that I'm not the only one with no symptoms! I'm 5 weeks two days and have experienced no symptoms at all and it's really worrying me! Anyone else ? X

BelleinLondon · 06/04/2016 08:48

Hi Everyone!

First pregnancy-related post ever. Rather excited and nervous, and agree with everyone on the thread who said it hardly feels real yet. I'm 30, 1st pregnancy, 4+5; EDD 12th Dec (slightly longer than average cycles).

Was TTC just since February so it's all been quite quick, although i was so disappointed in Feb so I'm grateful I haven't had a long TTC journey like some of you.

Main symptoms so far seem to be a general queasiness - less food related and just normal smells in the house (I hate our new fig pot plant in the lounge that I was so excited about two weeks ago!? The dirt in the pot just stinks.).

Looking forward to the sharing the journey ahead with you all!

SolomanDaisy · 06/04/2016 09:09

I had mild nausea last week, but it seems to have gone now. My boobs are intermittently sore and I'm still getting some mild cramping. With DS I had no symptoms at all in the first six weeks, then had some cramping. I never had nausea. I really wouldn't have known I was pregnant (except in hindsight my SPD started at 8 weeks!). So I would really try not to worry about lack of symptoms!

SolomanDaisy · 06/04/2016 09:10

Congratulations Belle!

ChoChang · 06/04/2016 09:12

Welcome newbies, congrats on your exciting news!

orchid that must have been such an awful time followed by the best feeling ever, this baby stuff is really sent to test us sometimes isn't it! So happy you had a good outcome.

Can I ask a question to those of you who've had early scans (particularly following ivf). Do they just do a scan, or do they do blood tests at that point too? Am still kind of obsessed about not being on the progesterone any more and wondered whether they'll check my levels. I know I can ask but just wondered what standard procedure is, if there is one. Cheers ladies x

Thisisbonkers · 06/04/2016 09:18

excitedmummy I have no symptoms either (other than random mild 'about to come on cramps'). I'm torn between being glad I'm not suffering and paranoid I'm not pregnant anymore Shock

I'm 5+3, when do symptoms normally kick in? I'm so clueless Blush but I don't want to google because I'll end up convinced of all sorts!

excitedmummytob · 06/04/2016 09:25

No idea bonkers! I'm scared to google too! Last week I seemed to have the odd cramp and slightly sensitive Nipples but now nothing at all Confused I'm so worried

Dunlin1987 · 06/04/2016 09:48

Hi everyone!

Congratulations on your BFP's!!!!

I would love to join this group please Smile.

Been trying now since June 2014. Had a few complications I.e PCOS and not ovulating at all but after being on clomid I finally got my BFP on Good Friday. I am 5 + 1 weeks. My EDD is 8th December. Done countless pregnancy tests and they are all getting darker and clear blue has now given me the 3+ which I was waiting for! I still can't believe it and don't know what to do with myself. We have just been trying for so long.

Had a few symptoms...feeling exhausted 24/7, really sore nipples, weird dreams, queasiness now and again and miraculously no longer crave chocolate (was eating it everyday and thought I had a serious addiction haha).

Theaks · 06/04/2016 11:51

Don't be worried about symptoms. Everyone is different and get them at different times (some not at all!).
I get queasiness on and off, yesterday was just a horrible day! I'm bloated at mo- which is making me really fedup! Also get the occasional penny taste in mouth!

Feefeefs · 06/04/2016 12:17

I'm bloated too and really windy and let's just say bowels more "active" than normal in general. Tired too as peeing a lot on the night. 4 weeks + 5 days all the apps say due 9th Dec. I think nausea starts around 6 weeks! Weirdly looking forward to it as think things will feel more "real" I'm sure I will regret that comment tho!

excitedmummytob · 06/04/2016 12:41

Thank you for the reassurance! This blog is so helpful! Being my first pregnancy I have no idea what to expect and very strange as do not feel pregnant whatsoever! X

kittyscot81 · 06/04/2016 13:01

Hello,

Theaks/Feefeefs/excitedmummytob, I am 4+4 today and I have been massively bloated for a few days now, plus cramps and tiredness and constantly thirsty/peeing lots. I wasn't expecting to feel any different for another few weeks! My first preg too so no idea if this is normal! Also just phoned the midwife service this morning and can't get my first scan until wk 13 because I'm abroad, should I be worried?? Wondering if I should cancel my trip.

babyinthacorner · 06/04/2016 13:27

Hi all, can I join? I found out last week that I was pg with #2 - I have a 3.6 DD already, EDD 9th December. Think I know a few of you from TTC threads - waves to Scottish & Kitkat!

No symptoms so far, apart from bigger, slightly painful boobs and feeling exhausted. Currently trying to eat everything in sight as I had awful nausea last time and ended up having my weight monitored as I started losing weight due to being unable to eat. Not looking forward to that!

Congrats everyone, fx for a smooth ride to December for us all X

NotAClue82 · 06/04/2016 13:51

kittyscot you shouldn't have to cancel your tri. During my first pregnancy I was abroad from
12-16 weeks but they managed to squeeze me in before then. If they can't be flexible with dates, it will probably still be cheaper to get a private scan before you go, rather than cancel the whole trip! Should be fine though!

Thisisbonkers · 06/04/2016 15:02

kitty I'll be abroad at 12 weeks, there's no way I'm cancelling!!
