Hi plimsolls!

So what do you all plan on getting the little ones to call their grandparents? My MIL is already called Abu (SIL is Spanish) so I think we'll stick with that, but this is the first grandchild for my parents. Apparently my dad is leaning towards Grandpapa. DH suggested Fifi for my mum as a joke, to my horror she seems to like it!

MrsSantaClause · 01/03/2016 16:12

We jut have boring old grandma and grandad here!

plimsolls · 01/03/2016 16:24

Thanks bearhuggy and hi hgleslie ! I'm feeling really well now (which is disconcerting after 3 months of constantly feeling nauseous and falling asleep whenever I sat down!). I had a stressful week last week which made me ill, but that's acted as a wake up call to take it easy (and be as lazy as I can for as long as possible).

In terms of grandparents, I think my parents will be nanny and grandad (as chosen by my oldest niece a few years ago). I don't know about OH's parents, as this will be their first grandchild, perhaps we'll ask them what they'd like to be.

strandedabroad · 01/03/2016 17:09

My (Italian) parents will be Nonna and Nonno. The other set has already been picked by BIL's kids, so we will go with that!

hgleslie89 · 01/03/2016 17:14

I like Nonna and Nonno, but can't claim any Italian heritage. Think we're leaning towards Oma and Opa since we do at least have Northern European ancestry somewhere in the mix.

Jw35 · 01/03/2016 17:54

Sguiggle there will be a 19 month gap between this one and my now 14 month old too! I have an 11 year gap between my first and 2nd dd! Very useful!
Welcome Plimsol!
My sister has a donor (for the bone marrow transplant) who's agreed to go ahead!!! Hopefully the op will be in a couple of weeks Smile
I'm 18+3 today and feel fine, starting to feel more movement now which is nice. No leaky boobs! That's very early? The 2nd trimester is by far the easiest one! It gets tough from 28 weeks on according to my last pregnancy!

Christinedonna · 01/03/2016 17:59

That's great news about your sister jw!

bearhuggy · 01/03/2016 18:12

great news jw !!

strandedabroad · 01/03/2016 18:13

Fantastic news JW - what a relief!!

Kstar8 · 01/03/2016 19:12

That's great news for your sister JW. Wishing her well.

Has anyone else had achy teeth/gums? Today my gums are aching so much I feel like I did when I had braces tightened as a teenager! Hope my teeth don't fall out Shock

lilygirl81 · 01/03/2016 19:25

That's brilliant news Jw

Kstar my gums are quite sore, paranoid I'll lose a front tooth or something horrible like that.

quitecrunchy · 01/03/2016 20:19

Great news jw!

Hi plimsolls, glad you're on the up now the 1st trimester's out the way.

LotsofDots · 01/03/2016 21:17

That's wonderful news jw

Welcome plimsolls

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow - time is zooming past at the moment!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 01/03/2016 22:01

Hi and welcome plimsolls! Good to have you with us, glad you're feeling well - hurray for the 2nd trimester eh!
Jw that is amazing news, fingers crossed the op all goes well and does the job - if your sister tackles it with the same fight and spirit she's had up to now, she'll be up and about in no time.

Anyone else got a real wiggle bum on board?! I was just feeling the first little taps from DD at this stage but I swear to god this baby never stops moving! I can already feel kicks, punches, somersaults, the lot. Sometimes I actually feel a bit seasick it's that active. Am a bit worried about what I'm in for in the later stages - imagining an Alien moment where it punches its way out Confused think I might be in for another bad sleeper too!

Oh meant to say 18+4 today

squigglepants · 01/03/2016 22:03

Not so much aching gums but I have noticed a few sensitive teeth, weirdly not my usual ones. I put it down to all the sickness which is very acid weakening things and maybe not brushing enough because it brought on the sickness. Might try and get an extra dental appointment squeezed in just to check.
Feeling very stressed at the moment. Meant to be moving house in 5 weeks and still haven't found somewhere to move to Confused the pressure is on. Viewing a place tomorrow so fingers crossed!

OwlinaTree · 01/03/2016 22:22

Hi all, welcome plimsoll. Glad your sister has a donor jw that's great news. We have granny and grandad and gran and grandpa and another grandpa here, not terribly exciting.

Had a midwife appointment today, all was well and got to hear the heart beat! It was quite fast, maybe that means a girl? So lovely to hear it, another hopeful sign that all is well in there.

ToElleWithIt · 02/03/2016 09:11

Welcome Plimsoll That's great news about your sister jw35

Starting to feel movement more regularly which is lovely.

We have a grannny and "papa". No idea where DS got "papa" from, but he's used it since about 18m and it has stuck.

No plans for another here. I reckon we might be done after 2, small chance we have a third, but not soon. I think we'll wait a couple of years and then make the call.

Fizzyboo · 02/03/2016 11:17

Great news jw Grin

I've got a question ladies... Every now and then and especially last night and this morning I get an occasional sharp almost stabby pain, well, almost pain, uncomfortableness in my uterus area. It doesn't last long and is really just uncomfortable sharpness for a second or two. Does anyone else get this? I'm 17+4 and first baby

Sophia1984 · 02/03/2016 13:11

PickleBot This is my first, so I haven't had PND before, but I am on citalopram for anxiety. I talked to the midwife at first appointment, so she is aware and it's in my notes. She also referred me to the perinatal mental health team and I have an appointment with the psychiatrist next week so hoping that will help. Not sure if you have access to similar but it's making me feel very reassured to know the support is there. It's difficult but I think you have to not be afraid to ask for help - it shows that you are aware of what baby might need and what you might need in advance. Best of luck xx

Fourforyou Someone on a running group I follow on Facebook was talking about running while pregnant earlier and you and her have inspired me. I ran the Great North Run in September and had trained for it through first short-lived 7 week pregnancy, but haven't really ran since. I think I've been worried about doing any harm (even though I know it doesn't!) and feel like I've left it too long, but am going to try and head out for a walk/jog this afternoon as it's gorgeous weather Smile

hgleslie89 · 02/03/2016 13:58

Ah, that's brilliant jw

Starting to feel proper movement today (18+4). Quite weird but really exciting! My bump has got a lot more prominent in the last week or so as well - I guess the wee one's having a growth spurt?

Jw35 · 02/03/2016 14:12

Thanks everyone!
I'm also getting more movement which is so reassuring! This morning I had what felt like bad period pains really low down. It's gone now. I just want to reassure anyone going through similar that it's often just re ligaments stretching as I had it with my previous pregnancy too and she was a happy healthy 9lb 8oz baby!
If it's unbearable though obviously call docs but for me it seems normal to have aches and pains!

18+4 and it's flying by!

Fizzyboo · 02/03/2016 14:27

Thanks jw I'm pretty sure that sounds like what I have. It's not too bad, just have no idea what's normal and what's not! You've set my mind at ease Smile

FourForYouGlenCoco · 02/03/2016 15:07

Sophia sounds like a good plan, enjoy! I also ran through my last pg which ended in mmc and I think that's made me really paranoid. I stuck one of the early C25K runs on (used it when I first started running!) and semi-followed it/walked when I needed to. No chance of going out today though, pouring & hailing here!
Fizzy I have those pains too, also get them in my cervix sometimes - the dreaded fanny daggers! Also getting wicked bad round ligament pain every so often. Pregnancy is just full of aches and pains!
Jw 9lb 8oz, wow, you did well! Bet she was scrummy, I love chubby babies Grin my DD was average born (7lb 10oz) but ended up a right fatty, she looked like the Michelin man 😂 I do love baby rolls.
Does it still feel a bit surreal for anyone? I still can't quite believe I'll actually have a baby! Still got some time for it to sink in though I spose.

Managed a 5 minute run and a walk the rest of the way as I started getting 'fanny daggers'! - think ligaments stretching or something. Will ask yoga teacher tomorrow.

Just had two-day visit from best friend and her gloriously chubby 5-month old. Was lovely to have baby cuddles, but also made it all seem A LOT more real. Especially as was staying at my parents' house and they have been given a huge donation of stuff including a moses basket - really freaked me out sleeping in the same room as it!
