I know what you mean GlenCo! It's like 'I'm having a real live baby'! It's mad! Can't wait!! Love the new baby stage SmileSmileSmile

silverstar77 · 02/03/2016 18:58

Great news jw!

Grandparents names already decided by my brothers family so it's Grandma and Taid (Welsh)...

DH not in touch with his parents out in SA. But I guess if things change they will be Oupa and Oma..

Yeah I get those stabbing pains!

Also still getting headaches and nausea but hopefully it will stop soon. Had the midwife appt today and heard the heartbeat! Cool isn't it!

Doing the hair band trick on my jeans, anyone else?!

Thanks for all keeping posting it's so comforting knowing there's others experiencing the same!

😊

Oh and still jogging, but much slower and only about 2.5 miles a time

hgleslie89 · 02/03/2016 19:29

silver yep, I've got a hairband on my jeans... Off to get some more maternity clothes tomorrow

prettyflowers111 · 03/03/2016 13:49

picklebot I had pnd, more so anxiety, after dd was born and we have a scheme specifically for pnd mums in my area where you're referred by midwife and under the care of a consultant but meet once a week with a mental health nurse as a group cognitive behaviour therapy session. I met some fab mums some of whom were desperately unwell but we all marched onwards and are close friends 4 years later! It's been brought up by my midwife that she can put in an antenatal referral should I want it just incase and I can have a few sessions before the birth to see where I'm at mentally. Speak to your midwife you never know what might be available to you!

Jw35 · 03/03/2016 15:21

My sister has a 10/10 match who's willing to go ahead with the donation and is having the op on the 23rd!!! If it works she could go home 2 weeks later! She can recover at home (will take 6-12 months for full recovery) thanks for all your support, it's been an absolute rollercoaster emotionally!
For a while I was faced with the worst possible reality I could imagine-the loss of my lovely sister. I can't describe how happy I am right now! Fingers crossed this works!

Christinedonna · 03/03/2016 16:11

I know the hormones work! Sobbing over a buggy. Because the colour I want is an extra £230 than black (I don't mind black), and is out of stock until November. Mother care is doing a really good offer for £595 for the 3 in 1 system. That runs out on the 16th of March, we'll have the money for it on the 12th but I'm just scared it'll be out of stock. My midwife is a knob and has been ignoring me for three weeks, left me waiting 30 minutes for my appointment today, had people interrupting the whole way through, sent me to deliver my own bloods at a medical centre because she had forgot to previously do them (but tried telling me it was my fault) and was very judgy when I said we were finding out the sex at the next scan. OHs at work and won't be home until 10 tonight but I need to cry to him. Have to pick my nephew up in a few hours and watch him until his dad picks him up and unfortunately he's at the age that he drives me mad and I just need some me time. Today is going to be a long one.

Sophia1984 · 03/03/2016 19:26

Brilliant news JW! I wish I could register as a donor but am too old :-( encouraged an Asian friend to do so by sharing the story about the Sri Lankan girl needing a very specific donor, so that'll have to do.

18 weeks here- feeling worn out and don't know if it's standard pregnancy, anemia or anxiety. Got appointment with perinatal psychiatrist next week and scan the week after so bit of a nervy time!

lilygirl81 · 03/03/2016 19:44

Christine that sounds awful for you, I hope you are ok now X

Christinedonna · 03/03/2016 19:57

Got worse when the childminder insisted on talking to my nephews mum (my sister) before I was allowed to leave with him. I know that's her job..but when I pick him up EVERY WEEK and know the secret password you need to get him, don't look at me like a liar and leave me stood around like a lemon like I'm in the wrong for doing something that is clearly a routine! Uhh, still have the housework and dinner to do before bed but tonight I will definitely sleep good. It's just that this is the only time it's hit me that it will be very expensive! Although this is the biggest buy and after this we'll be back to normal as everything else is a lot less, and I know we'll be fine it's just stressful. How ironic that all this stress is over the baby, yet a cuddle from the little thing would make everything instantly better! Il get the letter for the scan date within a week and the scan should be in the next two weeks. I can't wait to see it! I already picture me French plaiting her ginger hair for school, or watching him make friends at the clubs he'll go to. I suppose that makes everything else that's worrying me seem a lot less important

silverstar77 · 03/03/2016 21:58

Hi Christine

Sorry you've had such a tough day, hope the morning is brighter for you.

If it's any help we went to John Lewis to choose the travel system we wanted (£900 all in!!) and then went on eBay and got an amazing deal on the same one (uppa baby vista) for £112 all in! We bidded in the last 30 seconds!

There's so much on eBay it could be worth a look ?

Sleep well!

Christinedonna · 04/03/2016 10:59

Just when I thought my day was over and couldn't get any worse, my dad decided it was his place to tell me I'm getting fat and il regret it and end up a size 20 after having the baby and not be able to lose it. Even me crying and saying I don't want to hear it wasn't enough reason for him to stop. Way to make me feel shit.

lilygirl81 · 04/03/2016 12:33

Christine what a ridiculous thing to say, completely uncalled for. I had the opposite issue with my mum, who commented that I really had needed to lose weight and hopefully I'd keep it off. This was after losing 24lbs in 8 weeks because I couldn't eat and I'm now paranoid every time I can eat that I'm getting fat again.

I'm a bit scared about going back to work on Monday, I've never been off this long before.

Can't believe I'm 19 weeks today, almost halfway there. Still not really feeling movement, I occasionally have something, almost like a throb, but not sure if it's baby or gas!

Silver that sounds like you got a brilliant deal.

Jw that's great your sister has her op date, I'm so glad a match got found.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/03/2016 13:29

Jw amazing, everything crossed for the 23rd and afterwards! I will definitely be signing up to be a donor, seeing what you & your sister have gone through makes me realise how important it is.
Sophia how you feeling today? Don't forget you can ring your midwife any time, maybe see if she can get you in to retake some bloods to check for anaemia? The next set of bloods won't be til 28 weeks and you don't want to be struggling for ages if something as simple as a few iron tablets will help.
Christine hope you're feeling better now, midwives are notorious for permanently running late! It's generally not their fault, but still frustrating - my 15w appt I waited for a good 40mins and was in and out in 10. Agree with silver about having a look for 2nd hand stuff - the baby honestly won't care whether you buy new or not! We were given nearly everything second hand and it all did us brilliantly. The only exception is car seats, would always buy them new as otherwise you can never 100% guarantee they've not been in an accident. Oh and ignore your dad, people can't wait to have an opinion on everything as soon as you get pregnant, but it's none of his business! And rubbish anyway, everyone is different and you'll probably ping back to shape in no time!
Same for you lily, you'd think pregnancy would be the one time we could stop worrying about weight gain, but that would be too easy! Of course you're going to put on more weight - you're growing a person, clearly the coolest thing ever! None of our babies will give a shit how much we weigh, we could be 8 stone or 18 stone and they'll still think we're the best people in the whole wide world Smile

Sophia1984 · 04/03/2016 15:55

Fourforyou I'm a bit better - had a tiring day of visiting schools by bus (can't drive), but managed a long walk at lunchtime which has refreshed me. I was diagnosed with low ferritin levels pre-pregnancy and am meant to be taking ferrous sulphate 3x a day, but I keep forgetting Blush

Anyone else's bump really popping around the 18 week mark? I suddenly look very pregnant indeed!

lilygirl81 · 04/03/2016 16:56

Argh, I'm about to hit stretch mark hell, was showing FH my bump and he commented he could see where my stretch marks would be, sure enough, I can see it too now I look, think I'm switching to bio oil rather than my body butters. I am really prone to them, but still annoying.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/03/2016 17:24

Let's see some bumps, I love a good bump shot Grin here's me earlier at 19 weeks exactly, it's going to really pop any day!
lily I promise you the stretch marks will fade. Mine were shocking last time on my chest and you can't see them at all now, even now my boobs are rapidly expanding! Bio oil is amazing stuff though, hopefully it does the job and you don't have to worry about them at all!

Here's my bump at 18+6. Decided this morning to stop hiding in big shirts and jumpers and to embrace my changing shape.

strandedabroad · 04/03/2016 18:15

Hi all!

jw what amazing news, I'm very pleased for you both.

I had my 16-week midwife appointment today, it all went fine. She listened to the heartbeat and found it really quickly. In the end I had cancelled my order of the second Doppler as I got too worried that I wouldn't find the heartbeat and panic. I also got a physio referral as my tailbone has been very sore and I have been struggling a bit. The poor dog is getting very short walks at the moment, feel so guilty. Luckily DH is back today. I have found my doctor's surgery and the midwife very efficient and caring - I have never had to use the NHS much before and I have been pleasantly surprised.

We have now told most people we know, which feels so nice. It makes it soo real, and I no longer have to hide :-)

coco that's a great bump! Will send a shot of mine soon.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/03/2016 19:10

Aww you both look fab!! hgl glad you're learning to love the bump, you look gorgeous. Such a neat bump!
stranded those leggings are rather fabulous. I'm a sucker for anything stripey. 16w appt sounds like it went really well, how lovely that you heard the heartbeat! Fingers crossed physio comes through quickly and helps. I know people love to slate the NHS (as do I, sometimes!), but on the whole I think we're very lucky to live in a country with free, high-quality healthcare. It's not perfect, but it could be a lot worse!

Had my 16 week appointment today too. My usual midwife was off sick and the new one wasn't too chatty, bp and urine fine, next see her at 28 weeks.

Still haven't told work as I've just moved depts and they're deciding how they want my team to fit in. Desperately want to be part of the planning before I announce pregnancy because then I think they'd hold off sorting anything out til my cover would start! Not sure how I can hide the bump for the next 4 weeks though until after my scan and I get my mat b1!

strandedabroad · 04/03/2016 20:45

Thanks coco! That's a pair of New Look maternity pjs I bought last week - a whopping £9! They fit nicely and the top says 'Do not disturb - baby sleeping' Blush Might still be there if anyone's interested!

Dileas29 · 04/03/2016 21:10

Feeling paranoid about being too big for 18 weeks. Repeating to self that second baby often show quicker but can't help but compare to my last time! A bit run down after having my 4 sisters (3 stay on Scottish islands) over to stay so lots of bed changing and cooking from scratch has left me floored! Hope you ladies are having a relaxing weekend planned
