Rang the hospital. She said my midwife will tell me so have to wait until next wednesday

bearhuggy · 25/02/2016 14:03

stranded let us know how you get on with the doppler! Hope this ones a success for you.

Well done fizzy on the healthy eating vibe, my cravings have all been relatively healthy to date too (apart from a one off feast of chips with baked beans!) and have been obsessing over asian salads with loads of ginger, soy and fresh chilli recently...could eat them all day everyday.

elle glad appt went well, lucky you having a 16 week, the 20 week still feels so far off.

Pretty great result, no need for any concerns there!! how are you feeling otherwise? Enjoy your cuppa :)

christine thats so annoying for you, you should call your hospital/antenatal helpline and ask to speak to someone directly and see what the problem is. Really bad that they haven't sent results, we got ours 5 working days after the scan/bloods.

Bought 'Show Dad How' book for husband, it's hilarious and I recommend for any partners who are the same as mine and really have no clue about babies or what's going on!

Christinedonna · 25/02/2016 14:09

So annoying that we can't upload videos here.. Unless someone knows something I don't? Just got such a clear heartbeat on the Doppler that I was going to share with you all

Christinedonna · 25/02/2016 14:59

Found the Moses basket we want on Argos a good three weeks ago and it's been out of stock since, been checking every day to see if they've got more, just rang to check and they no longer sell it! Why is it still on the website?? Today is not my day!

bearhuggy · 25/02/2016 15:05

oh dear christine not your day but dont worry!! Do they sell the moses basket anywhere online? maybe check ebay if its a specific brand you are after? Don't think you can upload video on here, but you could upload to youtube and share a link instead?

Christinedonna · 25/02/2016 15:11

It's a specific one but would have preferred ordering it from a big company where I can return to a store if needed. Me and technology don't mix so unfortunately that can't happen😂

PickleBot · 25/02/2016 22:04

So the hospital rang me back this morning and they have miraculously found a free appointment on the 9th March...5 weeks before the "next" available appointment. I'm glad they sorted it out, but it shouldn't take someone complaining to get the right appointment!

bearhuggy · 26/02/2016 10:19

thats good news pickle, at least you will be seen sooner but still no excuse and you shouldn't have been messed about like that. .

Happy friday ladies, how is everyone today?

18 weeks !! ShockShock

Basketofwool · 26/02/2016 10:23

I'm 18 weeks today too bear! 18 weeks seems like a lot...but I still don't feel pregnant.

I had a bit of a sulk last night because I thought I spotted my first stretch mark while I was in the bath. It really upset me, I know I will get them (genetics) and I'm dreading being all stripey! However when I tried to show DH why I was upset neither of us could see anything! Still, its only a matter of time...

FourForYouGlenCoco · 26/02/2016 10:42

Pickle incredible how these appointments magically appear out of thin air when you kick up a fuss! It's a sad fact of the NHS that often the ones who shout the loudest get results - shouldn't be that way but at least you're getting seen in good time!
18 weeks here too bear and basket! Feel like there's a long way to go still but 2 more weeks and we'll be halfway through Shock
I'm sure pregnancy has messed with my skin, it's been so so dry and itchy and really annoying. Have tried all sorts of lotions and potions. Picked up a tub of E45 the other day and it's a revelation!! My skin is under control for the first time in the whole pregnancy and I am FINALLY maybe, possibly glowing a teeny bit round the edges.

OP posts:
Christinedonna · 26/02/2016 10:52

That gives me hope if the glow is appearing! I'm 16+1 and still look and feel like rubbish! The closer we get to the next scan the more the gender is playing on me and I'm dying to know!! Wondered if everyone would be interested in a little "guess my gender" game with the pictures! I won't say what I think it is but here are a few pictures

Christine I'm going to guess girl!
Will you find out at the next scan?

Christinedonna · 26/02/2016 12:09

Definitely going to find out!

bearhuggy · 26/02/2016 12:44

basket try not to worry and sounds as though it was your mind playing tricks on you in the end after all! Are you using creams to protect and help with marks??

hi coco hope all well. cant believe 2 weeks until halfway, going so quick now! Glad your skin is under control...if you haven't already tried it then coconut oil is the dream, works for everything and I use it daily as face moisturiser and also in hair as a mask etc.

Have you guys started to buy stuff / get things ready?! I fell very ill prepared.

Girlie for you christine !!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 26/02/2016 13:00

bear I've heard such good things about coconut oil, where dyou get it from? Would love to try it!
I vote girl too Christine (jumping on the bandwagon!)

OP posts:
Christinedonna · 26/02/2016 13:05

I have coconut oil but could not bring myself to even opening it! That smell. As many on the band wagon as possible is perfect!!

hgleslie89 · 26/02/2016 13:49

17+6 here and feeling quite emotional. I've been fairly balanced up til now, but over the last few days I keep thinking I'll burst into tears. I'm a proofreader and any time I see a book involving people having to give up their babies (happens more often than you'd think!) I get a bit weepy Sad

My skin's not too bad, but I seem to have dry nipples (sorry, tmi). Guess I'll have to invest in some E45 then.

Christinedonna · 26/02/2016 13:52

Dry nipples here too! I'm getting bumps on them too, like ducts. Surely that can't be getting ready for breastfeeding already??

bearhuggy · 26/02/2016 14:33

coco I get mine from Holland and Barrett, must make sure you buy 100% pure, rather than some of the cheap chemically bleached ones as they are not good for you in any way. This is the one I use, I have a pot for beauty/face/hair and then a pot in the kitchen for cooking, delicious to use as an alternative to oil! - www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/perfectly-pure-pure-coconut-oil-60022864?istCompanyId=8b7eb14d-bd9c-4f8a-aec2-4349bbabb5a0&istItemId=irrirplap&istBid=tztt&gclid=CMn69ebRlcsCFckaGwodRHsArw

leslie I think the emotions are completely normal, I have been feeling a bit niggly these past few days, was putting it down to the awful sleep patterns I have been having. So looking forward to house to myself this weekend (husband away on a stag) and having some long lie in's to try and catch up. Are you sleeping ok?

bearhuggy · 26/02/2016 14:34

coconut oil on the nipples too ladies leslie & christine!! I should get a job in coconut oil PR...

Christinedonna · 26/02/2016 14:51

Been trying to think of a way I can get the bed to myself for atleast a night. I would absolutely love a weekend away, on my own! In a little chalet, tea, early nights and peace and quiet!

bearhuggy · 26/02/2016 15:38

just been on little white company, some great sale items if anyone interested - www.thewhitecompany.com/offers/the-little-white-company/

book yourself a mini break christine WinkWinkWink

strandedabroad · 26/02/2016 16:53

I'm so with you girls! DH works away sometimes, and has recently upped his trips to help save up money for the baby. I feel guilty saying this, but I love it that I can go to bed at whatever time with no interruptions, nobody falling over themselves in the dark as they try to creep in much later, no fidgeting in the night and peace and quiet in the morning. It's just me and the dog who's an absolute angel. If I have a lie in he does too - pads into the bedroom very quietly and if I'm asleep he goes back to his basket for another few hours. Bless his paws. I do miss DH but I don't mind the me time! I'm glad he's doing this now to be able to be around more when baby is here Smile

Fizzyboo · 26/02/2016 21:24

Had the midwife appointment today and it went excellently!
Every time I've seen her my blood pressure has gone right up (my booking appointment I was 140/80) but when I've checked it at home (which I've been doing as it scared me!) it's ok. She said its white coat syndrome...
Well I must be getting used to her because today it was 120/65, bloods all normal, pee all normal I don't have syphillis or anything Winkand I even got to hear the babies heartbeat! She said its a great heartbeat and found it straight away.

As for the nippley issues I too use coconut oil for everything, but my mum got me this posh little mum to be pamper pack from a private hospital and innit were two tubs of nipple balm... I think it was called mamas own or something?

And stranded, my husband commutes into London (60miles away) for work and does 2 day shifts and two night shifts in a row, the night shifts mean I get the bed to myself two nights a week and I get to lay right down the middle, secretly indulge my illicit eastenders addiction and no one is any the wiser Wink the only thing I'm worried about is the alarm he sets for 5am on his early days, which I sleep right through will wake the baby when it's in with us, I'm trying to figure out a way round this!!

PickleBot · 26/02/2016 22:16

Fizzy get him a silent alarm clock! They vibrate your pillow instead of making a noise.

My DH sometimes goes in the spare room to avoid waking me up if I'm already asleep when he comes in late. At the end of my last pregnancy he gave up completely because I ended up with a pillow nest to get comfortable and there was no room for him! Poor man Grin
